Was put off 5 years ago but following others recently recommending this place we thought we would give it another try. Blimey I'm sure glad we did! Warm welcome. Excellent choice of food and superb amount of gluten free choice for myself. When ordering they checked what dietary restriction we had ie gf or coeliac, explained one item on the dish would be left out ie tartar sauce, not a problem, also explained about separate fryers and measured in place to prevent cross contamination. Very impressed by this. The food came quickly and piping hot, very obviously homemade and well prepared. Would highly recommend this place and will be returning. Thank you for your wonderful service.

Love this place. Food is great, the service isn't rushed and the staff are lovely. There are so many options on the menu and so many things they're willing to change to make sure people are happy. Love that I can get my pie with mash or chips or new potatoes and a choice between mushy or garden peas. The pub quiz is brilliant as well! So glad to see this pub back to being managed well!

Having been out early and it was now mid afternoon we decided to call in at The Hospital Inn on our way home. Walking in we were welcomed by a server and the bar man and we're taken to a table. A couple of minutes later the young lady came and asked us for a drinks order and on returning with a very nice pinot grigio she took our food order We decided on chicken wings to share and I had half chicken and Mrs A had their special club sandwich The food arrived quickly and we couldn't fault it, the wings were well marinated and when the mains arrived quickly after the starters had been cleared they were equally faultless. The chicken was moist and chips were the best we've had in ages, crisp on the outside and so fluffy on the inside. The club sandwich was huge and I thought it was perfect, though Mrs A would have liked the bacon chrispier. All in all we were very happy with the food, the service and the price and we will absolutely be there again

We’ve been going to the Hospital Inn for a little over 10 years as we live local. The pub itself is lovely with a nice atmosphere and plenty of history. It’s also worth noting the beer garden is one of the best in the area. However, there’s just one thing that lets the place down.. the food! It would be great if there was a qualified/experienced chef in the kitchen, rather than whoever’s currently preparing the food. I say this because most of the meals seem to have been put together with items from a freezer, tin or jar. In my opinion this isn’t proper pub food but more Wetherspoons cheap and cheerful type food, which if fine if that’s what you’re expecting and the prices reflect that low quality of food. The Hospital Inn could be SO much better if they hired the right people for the kitchen to provide decent fresh meals. Please!!! :)

I recently visited the Hospital Inn and was immediately impressed by the welcoming, friendly, and efficient staff. They created a warm and inviting atmosphere that extended throughout the pub. Cleanliness and maintenance were clearly a priority, as all areas I saw were spotless and in good repair. The pub boasts a fantastic selection of wines, beers, ciders, spirits, and cocktails, catering to a variety of tastes. However, the food was not as expected, especially considering the price. The fish and chips were comparable to what you'd get at Wetherspoons. My steak pudding was particularly disappointing, with only two cubes of steak and the rest consisting of gristle. The homemade pudding crust was OK. Chips appeared to be frozen but very well cooked and crispy, not greasy at all. The pâté came in a good portion size, but it needed the caramelised onions to enhance the flavour. The thin toast soldiers served alongside would have been better if made with thicker bread. The sizzler dishes seemed to be popular, constantly coming out of the kitchen and looking very appetiding.

Visited recently and found 3 ciders on draft to be somewhat ridiculously priced £18. The food very mediocre and for what it was, slightly over priced compared to many other pubs. Large pub on the outskirts of Bamber Bridge; accessed via the Walton Summit industrial estate and just across from a level crossing for trains. Inside, nice big area for dining with good range of tables. Bar in the round, with saloon bar to one side. Ancient gaming machine in the bar area. The beer was Amstel. As it was and as it should be. Food was first class; really lovely. Didn’t have time for full three courses so just a main - fantastic steak suet pudding with chunky chips and giant onion rings. Such good onion rings 😻 Throaty jug of proper gravy and mushy peas on the side. Perfect. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area and after a tasty dinner. Must return in future. Well done.

Yesterday we sadly said goodbye to my mum and we had booked here for the refreshments and they did not disappoint. On arrival the memory board that my daughter had made had pride of place and the way that Shannon had laid it all out was so beautiful. The buffet was absolutely outstanding and cooked so fresh, the sausage rolls, fish and chicken goujons were hot when served. The mini quiches were delicious and the sandwiches were divine. Compliments and thanks to Nathan and the kitchen team for the fantastic food, which was made exactly as requested by us. Having thought no one would eat cake, as soon as it came out they were demolished as well! The front of house staff - Andy, James, Shannon, Tasha, Hannah - could not do enough for us all at all times during the afternoon. There was a lot of us and no one was left waiting or wanting anything. Thank you all so much for making a hard day such a special memory for us saying bye to mum. X

Quite disappointed with our recent visit. The £10 club has increased to £12 which is fine, but feel that the quantity and quality wasn't the usual standard and that was the view of all 4 diners. There was a good selection on offer and a specials board to choose from. We opted for the pie of the day which came with chips and vegetables, gravy on the side. The potion size was good and the pastry pie full with tender meat and cooked to perfection The chips were chunky and veg tender. The staff came to take our order and brought the drinks to the table she remained professional polite and smiling which was nice to see. I've been to this pub a few times now over a couple of years but unfortunately the last year its gone down hill in regards to the food. Ate the chicken wings around a year ago and they barely even looked like chicken wings. Instead looks like some sort of mutant wings, ate two and couldnt have any more. Time after I had a sizzler which was basically tateless which is disappointing considering the presentation is good. And today I just had some plain chips which were standard. However one of my party had the Sunday roast lamb and noted it smelt rotten, this was after his 2 year old was fed a bit of it too. Just very unfortunate and put all of us then off our food. The staff however are lovely people. I wasn't the one who brought it up to the waitress about the potential rotten lamb but I just felt bad for her as it wasn't her fault. I don't know if there is any cost cutting in regards to food or unsavoury preservative methods but food lately has been disappointing. Staff, drinks and atmospherr are good though.

I arrived at noon and was greeted warmly. The menus , of which there is plenty to read , has some fabulous choice. You will find something for whatever culinary mood you are in. During the week there is a special reduced price menu , Mon to Thursday and light bite menus also. The whole of the dessert menu , bar 1 item was gluten free and this is a very rare thing. My main meal was able to be adjusted to what I asked for to make gluten free and it did not disappoint... Steak and cheese club style sandwich and side salad and fries... Outstanding . The dessert was the highlight .. the lady who produced the homemade sticky toffee pudding deserves a medal... That's the best gf pudding I have ever had since being diagnosed . .. so much so I kept questioning myself whether it was actually gluten free.... Amazing.. staff friendly and accommodating . Facilities are clean tidy and as expected with everything else being so good. Felt maybe coffees overpriced , for what it was , but suppliers costs etc have kept everything up . When your drink is nearly half the price of the meal , it's a tad on the expensive side. Disabled parking right near the entrance and accommodated suitable seating with no issues . Was not rushed to finish and can't find fault. See you again soon .

Visited on a Sunday tea time for family birthday meal, ordered roast dinners to be told that because they had a few large tables in who had pre-ordered food, they had run out of roast turkey and roast beef Sunday dinners at 5.30pm! Had to re-order and then food took 45 minutes to eventually appear. Food was average, service non-existent/below-par. When we asked if they could provide a reasonable gesture, of perhaps refunding a round of drinks off the bill to compensate for the long wait time/lack of service, we were met with being told we should have expected a long wait, as it was Sunday and it was busy! Avoid. EDITED in response to business comments: Thanks for your response - perhaps if you had made it clear when we ordered - before the other large tables that you mention actually arrived - that the wait time on food would be 45 mins to an hour, then we might have been more accepting of the fact the food took so long to come out of the kitchen. Whilst, it's great that you employ so many local staff, it might be worth hiring some more locals as you are so exceptionally busy each weekend and perhaps adjust/increase your catering orders if your roast dinners are so popular on Sundays? As for the fact we stayed over 2 hours, yes we did, as we really didn't have much choice considering it took for 20 minutes for someone to come over and take our order, plus the hour long wait for food.

Amazing service from James ,beautiful food and our labrador even got some treats and bowl of water! We have been several times with family and always had good service and delicious meals. The Hospital Inn is definitely one of our favourite places to eat!

The lady who served us had only been there less than a week, wish her well but there's no food being served at the moment and pub a bit run down.

The food was beyond basic, poorly presented but cheap. I don't want poor-quality ping cuisine - it was truly awful and cheap. Toilets are disgusting too.
