Great pub grub in a nice environment and very friendly service

Food was amazing, I had the sticky chicken to start followed by the lasagne. Cannot describe how nice and rich the lasagne is! Definitely worth a try. Staff were lovely, our server Terri was friendly and always checking how we were. The chef Sherif did an amazing job. Will absolutely be returning

The food is always superb here, served by Terri who is always a ray of sunshine. Food cooked by Serif was fresh and extremely good. Recommended dish is the lasagna.

Wonderful meal out with the family. I had the fish and chips with mushy peas, the fish was fresh and cooked to perfection also the chips were crispy, just how I like them. Followed by a banoffee desert. Everyone else enjoyed their chosen meals, even the children and one of those is very picky with what she has. The staff were warm and welcoming, a lovely atmosphere all round.

Nice,historic building.Cosy places,stylish interior. We tried steak and aubergine, it was so yummy ☺️ The staff members really kind and helpful,highly recommended for couples,families.

The food is excellent with very nice friendly staff, good selection of food and drink with table service in the restaurant side. Easy access to motorway. Only draw back is slightly small car park but there is more room close by. Not sure if dogs are allowed but they have a bowl outside which they'll fill, outdoor seating pond view. 10mth since last visit. Refurbishment finished. Glad it's kept the rustic charm for a big place it's surprising intimate. Food was excellent and I got a heart shaped steak! Pure fluke I believe. Thanks for a nice peaceful and unrushed meal. The Walton Fox has become our go-to restaurant for the last 6yrs including having my wedding meal. We have several family members get-together here each year plus 2 anniversaries, and occasionally pop in with the dog. The food is A* along with the service. Today LISA was her wonderful self (true customer service), and I want to thank TERRI for some of the best sea bass I've ever had. Thank you all again, and see you at Easter 🐣

Arrived as a walk-in & was seated. After 40 mins the food arrived, but 1 meal was almost cold, so was sent back. Once heated, both meals were quite palatable. However, from that point attention was zero. We were never asked if everything was fine, and once finished the empty plates were left on the table. We had to stop a waitress to ask for another drink. When that was not forthcoming another waitress was stopped, and I pointed out our drink which we saw sat on the bar. At no time were we asked if we'd like anything further. It was only when I requested the bill did they remove the empty plates! Food reasonable, service poor!

We had a very pleasant midweek lunch here. The atmosphere was relaxed while the service from Terri and Natalie was efficient and friendly. Delicious food cooked by Serif. An all round a lovely experience,

Excellent experience today, service was perfect, just the right amount of attention without being intrusive. My only comment is regarding food portions, as I don’t eat huge amount, I’d very much appreciate an option of a smaller portion size. The staff were fantastic regarding food allergies and reassuring of their processes. Will be returning soon.

It's a lovely looking pub but it's more of a restaurant with a pub attached. The beer is expensive so are the soft drinks but the decor and seating are comfortable. I find the staff efficient but a little gloomy like they work for a soul sucking corporation rather than a friendly local pub. The food is fine but also expensive. Great for a meet up but last couple of times Timothy Taylor and a couple of other draft beers not available due to beer cleaning it's a pub you should have more than one beer on.

My first visit but not my last. I was greeted with a smile and shown to my table without having a reservation. The food was delicious and presented perfectly. The service was friendly and Hannah was very helpful taking the time to consider my hearing loss and explained everything clearly. The slow cooked belly pork was "Special" indeed.

Had a lovely Sunday roast today & lovely staff Abbie serving us today. Always a lovely atmosphere here. Will be back soon.

Needed to stay in the area as I couldn’t get home with the storms in Scotland. I was warmly welcomed to the Walton Fox by Lisa, who was a fantastic host, really friendly. The delicious Aubergine Gratin cooked by the chef Shyla went down a treat with a great Malbec. A really lovely meal, in a great atmosphere. A great find!

Wish this was my local pub/restaurant! Always a pleasure to come here. Staff all lovely and welcoming and nothing too much trouble. Food is lobely especially when Sherif is cooking! My favourite place Keep up the amazing work Team and Happy New Year!

Love coming here and do so quite often, however today was a no no. Got a lovely table next to the door and got our drinks. Ordered our food… no problem. However the uneducated locals on the next table unfortunately haven’t mastered the art of the English language bar a few ‘select’ phrases. These were middle aged men who obviously haven’t realised there are more words in the language other than f*** and c***. Nobody seemed to bother ( staff) and yes I should have said something but can you imaging the response….

Lovely meal here last Thursday, served by Thea. Delicious hot meal by Serif, we really enjoyed the Seabass, delicious sauce, prawns and well cooked and the Gammon was also enjoyed. Lovely drinks with flapjacks too, all served quickly with a smile from the lovely Thea. Great service, we reserved a table with a highchair, nothing was too much trouble and I asked for particular veggie items for my 18 month old daughter to nibble and all was accommodated, much appreciated, really enjoyed ourselves in a warm and cozy setting, also dog friendly... I'd left the dogs at home on this occasion, but took them two treats from the handily provided jar at the entrance, which they loved!!

Nice staff and inside is lovely and welcoming. Food is ok but average, had alot worse but also had plenty better.

Has gone downhill and we won’t go again. Quite dirty. Lots of dog mess on the way in and wall next to table was filthy, needs a really good clean. Women’s toilets unpleasant and also needed a good clean. Manager seemed really stressed about everything, other staff pleasant and tried hard. Food was average though. Cold mushy peas with fish and chips and failed twice to get a dessert right which just needed throwing in a microwave.

Visited for an evening meal with two friends in December. Very pleasant would definitely go back. Good was pretty good for the price, we each had starters mains and desert followed by coffees. The place was quiet when we arrived at half 5 but was ram packed by the time we left around 9. Good value would visit again 😄

We went for our anniversary as we had our first date there a year ago. We had a beautiful meal and they even brought us a dessert with ‘happy anniversary’ written in chocolate. So thoughtful. Great service from Thea too.

Been here twice and always feel very welcomed! The staff are lovely and friendly and the food is brilliant! We were served by Lisa who was very accommodating. There was a slight mix up with the food we ordered but Lisa couldn't have been more apologetic. Fab fab fab! 😊

My last visit here was 10 months ago, which sadly led to a 2* rating due to food and service quality. Not today!...Such a difference. I was very pleasantly surprised with everything. The pub had a good relaxed atmosphere. A live singer was playing (didn't get the details), he was very good! Food was excellent (chef today was Serif)...as was our table service/waitress Thea. A very different experience from my last one and as this was a family meal, I did decide to give this traditional pub another chance. I am pleased that I did! There are so many food choices, alcohol choices and even dogs are welcome in the bar area and have their own menu (see photos). I can recommend the Calamari starters, Vegetable Wellington and Mini Chocolate Brownie - as all we faultless. The pub also offers a takeaway service as well as home delivery. Following today's experience, I would highly recommend Walton Fox and will definitely return again in the near future, whether that be for a meal or a coffee with my dogs, after a nearby walk either in the grounds of St Catherine's hospice or Cuerden Park valley. Thank you Thea for your professional and friendly service. Also compliments to Serif the chef !

I took my grandad here for the Boxing Day menu, nothing was too much to ask, Hannah our server was super friendly and smiley especially considering she was working on Boxing Day!! I came to the Resteraunt last night 24 th December after travelling from Majorca tired and hungry I was staying at the premier inn next door to the Walton fox Bamber bridge it was 8.30 pm I was informed by a staff member they had stopped serving food although they advertise food is served until 9.00 there were plenty of people still eating in the restaurant I had to leave and go without food big disappointment I would not go back after such a bad experience

Just had a lovely meal out with my wife. Been coming here years . Never had a bad meal. Except for today definitely not the chefs fault. Had the camembert every visit. But tonight just didn't taste like it used to. Didn't eat it all. Tho this didn't ruin our night as the rest of the food was very tasty as usual. And the staff so friendly. Much thank you to Megan for your service tonight. Could not fault.

We were served today by Thea, who was attentive and jovial. I had the calamari to start, which was okay, and the Mac & cheese with brisket which was great. I recommend it for the food options and the atmosphere especially.

Spent a delightful afternoon with family at The Walton Fox. Lisa and Shona provided outstanding front of house service. Nothing was too much ask! Enjoyed a Hunters Chicken dish and Turkey. The cosy, dog friendly atmosphere topped off a fantastic visit. Chef Shyla exceeded our expectations and the food was superbly presented and delicious. Would highly recommend a visit to anyone.

Several requests at table were overlooked. However, they were soon dealt with efficiently. Everything else was enjoyable in the dining area. Unfortunately, toilets were not presented well, with signs of inattentive cleaning routines.

We had a meal from the festive menu. We were absolutely thrilled with the quality, the fresh vegetables were to die for. The meat was so tender. The starter of mushrooms and brie i could have eaten twice. Amazing food thank you Sherif! As for the service we couldn't have had better. Especially Grace. She was just so friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. Overall a fantastic Saturday lunch and cannot recommend highly enough. Thank you to all the staff and happy Christmas!

Had a lovely evening at the Walton Fox on 2/12/24. Excellent service and made to feel very welcome. Lindsay really looked after us. Especially enjoyed the children singing Christmas carols it really put us in the spirit. Will definitely return 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

We popped into the Walton Fox for a quick drink and were pleasantly surprised by the lovely atmosphere. The pub had such a warm, festive vibe, and to our delight, a group of kids was singing Christmas songs, which made the experience even more special. The manager clearly does a fantastic job of creating a welcoming environment. The food looked delicious, and we’re already planning to come back to try it. Highly recommend this place for a great experience!

What an unwelcoming place, walk in & round to the restaurant area bypassing a group at the bar and got shouted at from a Scottish woman working behind the bar "are you joining a group" no, "well then wait back there" should have just left at that point. Atmosphere was terrible, same women kept on nagging staff to "go & get more drinks orders, take the pudding menus, sort the table" repeatedly as if they were recalcitrant 5 yr old not perfectly lovely & competant young women. When we dared to walk to the toilets got growled at by the same women whilst she charged towards us. They were also turning people away despite empty tables. Food was pretty awful, the smallest child's portion I've ever seen, if you child is over the age of 5 they'll need an adult meal. Other meals not great & puddings poor quality. Not cheap either, would be better off going to the hunters or yew tree, much friendlier places with better food. Never again!

burgers fries and onion rings were great, but flatbread was rock solid and unedible

very expensive for the tiniest slivers of meat!! 1 small chunk of beef and 1 pathetic sliver of turkey for £27. I'll stick to the farmers arms in whitestakes in the future. save your money and don't bother!!
