The Walton Fox in South Ribble

The Walton Fox is in a good location with ample parking. It is decorated to a nice standard and is aesthetically pleasing, it appeared clean and well maintained. However, unfortunately we found the food and service did not match its appearance. From previous good reviews we were excited to try this as a party of 4 adults and one child. Initially we were sat without issue, some hanging around ant the bar while we waited for staff, and drinks orders were taken almost instantly. However, from then we waited over 20 minutes to order our food. When the server came to take our order we were then informed of the limited availability on the menu, something which we should have been advised of prior to being given the menus. As this impacted our initial choices we were given additional time to reconsider. However, we were left waiting for more than was needed. Eventually we were able to order food, which took far longer than anticipated. After half an hour no food had arrived, no server came to our table to advise of any delays or offer us fresh drinks, we had to go to the bar to get this ourselves. We were given a child’s colouring on arrival but no colours, again something we had to go and find ourselves. When the food did come one order was wrong, and further time was added while this was amended. The food was well presented however all meats were cold, over cooked and chewy, with limited taste or flavour. The medium - well steak was far more on the well side, gritty and chewy. For the cost of the meals we expected a better standard. On the basis of the slow service and poor quality food we would not recommend this place. We appreciate it was a busy bank holiday.

Thea was very attentive and helpful serving us and our shared starter and mains were delicious!

We’ve just eaten as a family of 11 including 5 children. Tasty meals all round and a great menu!

We came here on the off chance whilst touring Uk in Motorhome. We were welcomed and invited to park free of charge overnight, obviously if we used the establishment. We had dinner here sat night and it was that good, we booked for Sunday also. On the Sat we had a meal off the weekend treat menu. Food was really really good and made for a really pleasant evening. The pub has not long reopened apparently and it was in immaculate condition throughout. Love this place and would wholeheartedly recommend to everyone. We were served by Grace who was really friendly, attentive and efficient. Thank you for your hospitality

Decided to visit The Walton Fox today whilst we were nearby and we were very glad we did. The staff were brilliant and very friendly, we were looked after by Beth and Martin who were very attentive and did a great job. The pub has recently been refurbished and looks beautiful inside with lovely decor. Menu also has a lot of choice which all sounded delicious and we enjoyed our selections. We will be back!

Had our anniversary meal here. Seater very quickly and had our drinks and food order taking by Grace, who was very polite. We had the charcuterie pizza and the chicken parmigiana. Both were delicious. Will definitely be returning.

Had the pleasure of coming in this morning for breakfast for the first time. The service was wonderful. The new decor is STUNNING. It’s absolutely beautiful. I’m so happy for you all , you deserve it. Food wonderful. Catered for my partner on a special diet with no problems. Can’t wait to come back for tea !!!

The food was amazing when we got it. Waited over 1hr30 mins and had to ask for our main course, front of house staff seemed very nervous and not tentative to the customers. We got the bill and had been overcharged. Lovely venue, great food but the service staff lacked leadership.

We were welcomed by the very helpful and polite Lisa who offered us a choice of tables that met our requirements for a "quiet corner" and were seated. We were then looked after by Terri, who is very informative and friendly. We had starters, mains, and our 8 yo chose a main and desert from the kids menu. We were looked after throughout; Lisa and Terri couldn't do enough for us. The younger serving staff were very nice too! The food was delicious; beautifully plated, tasted wonderful and I'm happily full! At the end Lisa carefully scanned my Loyalty Card, made sure the discounts were on the bill and talked us through the receipt to make sure we were happy before we paid. Excellence food by Serif and service by Lisa, Terri and the Team! Well done everyone!

Food was nice, but smaller details let it down, specifically with the description of our burger being incorrect - the burger was also slightly dry! Other than that, the meal was okay and had great service from Grace.

First time back since revamp,looks great inside and out. Waited about 5 mins to be seated,wasn't rushed to order. We both ordered beef on the Sunday roast. It was fantastic,thick slices of beef,lovely veg and potatoes,large Yorkshire pudding jug of gravy. I had a tiramisu,my favourite. Served by Beth and food was cooked by Alisha. Will call again 😀

The food was amazing had the pie of the day, the best chicken & mushroom pie I have had. The staff where really friendly and welcoming.

Popped in for a lunch bite. Really surprised as it was lovely inside and looked a lot different, we found out that it was day 2 following a refurb. The food selection was great, couldn't pick! Visited on Saturday 17th May after the refurbishment and the food was excellent. The place looks really fresh now, all the staff are very pleasant and professional. Big thanks to Serif, Lyndsey and the team friendly young waitresses Louise, Abbie and Grace. We will be back xx

This newly refurbished restaurant is amazing the place as be done up to a great standard the staff and food are superb great value for money. We loved it before and even better now. X

I had a fantastic experience at The Walton Fox! The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, perfect for both a casual meal or a special occasion. Terri was friendly and attentive, making sure everything was just right from start to finish. The food was delicious—fresh, well-presented, and generously portioned. I especially recommend the King Prawn Skewers and Feta and Tortilla Side!

Some quite interesting dishes on the new menu, and we enjoyed those we chose Happy with the refurbishment- still a pub !

The experience of the refurbished Walton Fox was great. The atmosphere was much improved and the service provided by Terri was equally great. Terri was attentive and friendly ensuring everything was to our satisfaction. The food was delicious and very well proportioned. Will certainly be back.

Perfect sevice great food fast service with a smile

Food was just average, not a patch on other pubs in the same chain. Cauliflower cheese was bland and tasteless. The kids' meals are very small. No atmosphere, quiet for a Sunday afternoon. Would not return in a hurry.

Enjoyed a beautiful Sunday Roast in the sun. The food came promptly and was served by the lovely staff - very helpful and accommodating. Initially we didn’t receive our Yorkshire pudding but within minutes it had arrived. We also tried the iced chai latte, unique flavour but made well. The portion size is good for one person with accompanies on the side.

Ellie served us our food and drinks and provided phenomenal service - she was very polite and friendly and is a credit to Walton Fox.

People were fab food was decent

Grace's customer service was amazing throughout. Portion sizes were so generous and the pan fried lamb was delicious! I was made to feel very welcome whilst eating alone on a work stay, nothing was too much trouble. I don't live in the area, but would definitely return with my family for food again.

Lovely pub, great food and Ellie,our waitress, made us laugh and really made it a great evening. Wish we had such great pubs ‘down south’.

This was our second visit and on both occasions it was excellent. The service from Ellie was prompt and polite. Our food was cooked to perfection by Alycia. I had the sea bass and my wife had a chicken burger. A thoroughly enjoyable meal in a pleasant environment. The beer is also good, I had a Wainwright Golden Ale and we both had the house red, a very nice Merlot. I would not hesitate to come back. The price was fair and the service good. Thank you

Dreadful food. Fries were overdone and cold, the chicken burger was indistinguishable from Aldi frozen burgers, the fish was dry and tasteless, and it was extortionate!

Booked a table for Mother’s Day. It was very busy but we were seated straightaway. Took a couple of times to query a drinks order for 2 of the party. I have a garlic allergy which was known to them when booking. It was mentioned to the server as well. Was advised all starters had garlic so I asked for some bread. Wasn’t offered an alternative starter. Was served 2 slices of plain bread with 2 triangles of butter and which I was charged for on the bill! (Was taken off when it was queried). Was told I could have mash potato as the roasts had garlic. Didn’t get the mash! the turkey was thick slices & dry, the carrots were soggy and it was bland with no flavour. This main meal was taken off the bill after I spoke to the waitress. Disappointing meal. Staff were great.

4 of us came for Mother’s Day lunch, the food was great & service was exceptional! Highly recommend & we will be back ☺️

7 of us came for a family meal. Waited 45 mins after ordering then one meal to arrive 15 mins after the rest and undercooked. Requests of omissions from two of the meals ignored. Drinks re order forgotten about and had to be reminded. All desserts served with cold custard. Will never visit again. Staff seem overwhelmed.

Visited midweek and was impressed with the atmosphere, a lot of people in also with a nice setting. The food was ok, had fishcakes and katsu curry, we also had the belgium fries which were excellent. We used a voucher which meant the food was very reasonably priced, however without this probably quite expensive. Would visit again if there was an offer on.

Great meal , had slight hiccup with one meal, but sorted so so quickly and efficiently, really tasty, just love this place.

The food is honestly really nice however the prices are of mild extortion, 18.75 for a katsu chicken curry in which the portion size was half more than I would give to a child is unbelievable. Without the discount voucher we had the price would have been close to £100 and it really just doesn’t feel like that kind of place, I could go to Flamin grill and get the same quality meal for half that price. Don’t get me wrong there was nothing physically wrong with the food other than my pizza had cheddar cheese on rather than Mozzerella which I found a bit odd, didn’t bother me but would likely bother anyone who is even 5% Italian. Our server, Terri was brilliant hilarious and lovely I can’t fault the staff for any reason, I just cannot fathom some of the prices. £8.75 for tiramisu that I could get at half the price at an authentic Italian restaurant. Either way I would probably return for a special occasion just not very regularly at all.

Typical English country pub on the outskirts of Preston close the the M65 Motorway. Was packed out when we called on a Wednesday around 6pm, thank goodness we booked. Food nice but several items not available on the menu, well it was busy. Lovely large battered fish and crispy chips. Very disappointed with the dessert of passion fruit & mango Eaton Mess as it was really just a plate of whipped cream with a couple of white chocolate buttons a couple of pieces of meringue and a drizzle of mango & passion fruit coulis. I would have preferred it in a glass dish, more meringue & white chocolate, with some fresh mango pieces with the passion fruit coulis. Very poor vegetarian options; chickpea burger, tomato pizza, lentil cottage pie or salad.

3rd time here - food was divine. One of the best burgers I’ve ever eaten. 5 star service from Natalie and food cooked by Alisha & Luke. Will deffo be back

Ellie was lovely gave us recommendations for food, the pie was amazing. She served us with a smile and couldn’t do enough for us. Highly recommend and will be coming back for the fish and chips (her other recommendation) soon!

the bread was soggy on the bottom bun, maybe an idea would be to assemble the burger ourselves with the bread separate

Very attentive staff, food was good and service excellent. The place was very quiet but that was due to an accident on the M6 area .

Called yesterday without booking but the Manager was able to accommodate a table for six of us without any fuss. The food was lovely and service was first class. It was our first visit but we'll definitely be back.

Very disappointed with the quality of my order and the lack of it. What's happened? Its not the cheapest of meals which is why I have it on Sundays. Last week's serving was minimal but this week really was sad looking . I'm a good, loyal customer but feel like I've been treated very poorly. What a huge shame.
