What a fabulous meal we enjoyed last evening. Food, drinks, service, music were all first class. We were amazed that they could serve approx 200 people with hot food. Fast service at the bar too, with plenty of friendly bar staff. And we had a lovely 'full english' breakfast in the morning.

We had the dog in tow so sat outside on the terrace. This was no hardship since it was a nice day and there were clear views towards Liverpool and the Welsh hills beyond. Service was friendly and whilst I can’t comment on the cake situation, the “build your own” Deli board was tasty and inexpensive. Overall, a pleasant experience to be repeated.

Me and my husband went for afternoon tea for his birthday ! We was greeted by unwelcoming staff ! The place is freezing cold ! The decor is like something from the 1980s. We ordered the afternoon tea of hot drink and 3 cakes ! We where told to pick them from a tiny fridge in the middle of the restaurant which only had a selection of four cakes anyway !!??? So when the cakes where served I took a bite from a pice of gateau and the smell and taste from the cake was like vomit ! The cream or cake had gone off ! We told a female member of staff who said “yes it’s been left out as there was a function !!!! She didn’t seem concerned at all, the hygiene standard in this tea room is unacceptable, I have never been served anything like this absolutely shocked to think that they are actually getting away with this disgusting stay away at all cost !!!!!!!!!!! Be warned

Came to 50 Shades of Cake today to look for a potential baby shower venue. We booked a table for 2 and advised the staff that we didn't like fish so not to add it to our order. We booked the afternoon tea, I must say it's the best one I have had! There was enough sandwich cake ratio and the scones was lovely! Selina was our waitress, she made sure we was looked after. Once we had finished our tea we asked about potentially holding the shower there. Selina got us an apt with the manager straight away so we could discuss ideas etc.... really looking forward to going back and would highly recommend the place.

Thought I would try afternoon tea, after reading previous review about this" little gem." What a disappointment. We had booked for afternoon tea thinking we would maybe get a delicious selection of finger sandwiches and creamy lovely cakes. Instead we got 1/2 tuna sandwich each, a small filled croissant, a rather dry ham bun. 1 dry scone 1/2 cupcake each, 1 piece of shortbread and a pot of tea. At £14.95 expected at least 1 whole cake each. This may sound petty but thought, as previously described that might have got a good selection and not what seemed to be leftovers. The only good things were the views across Cronton and the waitress, both very pleasant on the day. Would not be returning

Expecting creamy, gooey, chocolate, fruity, scrumptious selection. There were in fact 4 sandwich cakes and scones. Where were the other 45? Coffee served in tea pot and weak to the point of tasteless. Lunch menu not very exciting either. Won't bother with the effort of getting there again.

I almost don't want to let more people know about this fabulous place to go for an afternoon tea experience, because it's still quite new and not oversubscribed. But once people hear how great the cakes, sandwiches and other light bites on the menu for afternoon are, it will become extremely popular. The staff are very welcoming and attentive. Nothing is too much trouble. The prices are very reasonable and good value for money. If you find you have more cake or sandwiches than you have room for, the staff very kindly box them up for you to take away with you. You can also just pop in for a tea or coffe if you are passing and be assured of the same welcome. The views over the golf course and up to the Welsh hills are beautiful on a sunny day. Give this place a try and treat yourself. It's lovely. The car park could do with being a bit bigger though.

The family (8 in total) were booked in for 3 pm. The majority got their starter at 3.50. One of our party ordered soup, which was cold when it arrived. No starter for young children, other than tomato soup. Two guests did not get any starter until we brought it to the attention of the waitress. By this time the remainder of the party had finished. We were invited up to the carvery at 4.55, but by this time the vegetables were cold. We asked for a jug of water, but it did not arrive. Our order for the pudding was taken at 6 pm. After waiting a considerable length of time the waiter returned to inform us that our order had been lost and could we repeat it. Other guests on adjacent tables also passed comment on the lack of organization, poor customer service and inadequate staffing. Two tables said that they would not be going there again.

The man who helped me with the complicated process of booking and payments mike was lovely!! Very impressed with the range of alcohol included in the offer! Including desperado!! The food came out pritty swiftly and was defiantly home cooked! It was plentiful and very nice! It was a very good night out! The only down side would be that there were no games so every table kept themselves to them selves! Didn't like that our party was placed over 2 tables but I think if we book again I'll ask for a big table and to be near the dance floor!

The best was yet to come!! They ran out of Banoffe pie and the only alternative dessert was creme brulee, this was warm and the texture had split therefore it resembled scrambled egg, there was two members of staff serving us carrying out two plates at a time, some of us had eaten whilst some of us still waiting!! All in all a very pleasant day for my mum and I would definitely recommend it to visitors to the area if I did get asked. Massive well done to the management and staff and also a massive well done to the chef as it was quite busy yet they still managed to serve everyone enjoying their Mothers Day lunch! have been to a lot of sportsmans dinners at blundells hill over the years and always enjoyed an evening with the lads, suited and booted and a few beers and a good laugh!have to be honest and say last weeks was the worst ever !! not the speaker or the comedian but the food(or lack of it) . the tables were ten on each and £40 a head which isnt a problem and i would estimate about 12 or 13 tables, so about 120 plus. the menu said lamb henry served on a bed of mash, well it wasnt, we were served a piece of lamb on a plate which i have to say was very nice . then the vegetables came , one tray of potatoes( about 2 per person) and a tray of veg. a few carrots , bit of cauli and brocolli and a portion of mash! 3 spoons of mash and it was all gone and lucky to get a couple of bits of veg and one gravy boat ! you would have struggled to make up 5 decent portions, and this was for 10 MEN !dessert was 12 crackers 1 apple cut in half, small pot of chutney, bit of celery about 3 grapes each and a few small pieces of cheese! you would struggle to make 3 portions! if we would have been in a restaurant we would have sent it back . looking forward to our next sportsmans dinner. but NOT AT BLUNDELLS HILL !!!!! VEGETABLES COST HARDLY ANYTHING, WHY SCRIMP???

I went with my Sisters in law and their partners for a family catch up. This was not to celebrate any special occasion but I would certainly book it again for such an event the Restaurant was so good. There are a couple of professional restaurants in the area and I have tried them and they were good, however The Four Winds is head and shoulders above the local competition. I would go as far to say you would be hard pushed to find a restaurant in the wider Merseyside area that offered food as good without paying a Kings ransom for it.There is a choice of A La Carte and set Menu. The set menu has a good range of dishes offering three courses for less than £20. We went for the A La Carte and were able to get superb Mains for an average price of £17. The Chef has clearly taken time to create dishes that are full of flavour and use his skills to great effect. Would you have Steak with a Chocolate Sauce? Would you expect ice cream with Duck? I can honestly say, and this a serious statement, the meal I had at the Four Winds Restaurant has got to be the best meal I have ever had. Will I be going back? You just try and stop me.

The Four Winds is a restaurant attached to a golf course, on a hill, with spectacular views in a quiet location. Eight of us went for a family meal on Easter Sunday. The restaurant was empty apart from us, although the bar was busier. On our visit we sat outside for drinks in the sunshine before going in to eat.The waitress was attentive and professional. The decor is simple, the furniture too. The place is very clean and well groomed, the grounds well kept. Onto the food...absolutely gorgeous. Hot, fresh and delicious. There was a four course Easter special for £22pp which was excellent value. I started with scotch egg on black pudding followed by lamb shank with a toffee bread and butter pudding to finish. Between the starter and main there was a raspberry sorbet pallet cleanser. Everything was delicious. I had no complaints. The presentation was excellent too, a real good looking set of dishes. I'd definitely recommend this place. It's not the first place you think of for a meal, but it's definitely a hidden gem that deserves more recognition.

My partner took me and our daughter to the Four Winds on Mother's Day, 15th March. He reserved a table at 5 pm. We didn't realise that there was a special menu for Mother's Day, but it didn't disappoint in the way that set menus often do. The price was £23.95 each for adults and £12.95 for our daughter. This included a starter followed by raspberry sorbet (beautifully smooth and fruity), main course, dessert and coffee and truffles to finish. I would consider it excellent value for money given the quality and quantity of the meal.I had the goat's cheese tart to start and my partner and daughter had the vegetable soup. The only slight criticism I would make is that there could have been a bit more filling in the tart. As I've mentioned, the scoop of sorbet as a refresher before the main course was lovely.I had salmon with white wine, lemon dill and mussels for my main course. This was beautifully presented and was a good sized piece of fresh salmon with seasonal vegetables as well as the mussels, which were a nice touch. My partner had roast beef and our daughter had sausages. For dessert I had sticky toffee pudding with amaretto toffee sauce. This was lovely, and although not a small portion, wasn't too big after the other two courses. My partner had the vanilla & thyme cheesecake which was an unusual, fragrant, flavour, and our daughter had chocolate fudge cake.At the end of the meal I had a capuccino and my partner had a latte. We had to ask for the truffles to go with it but that's just a minor thing - as about 3 different waiting-on staff had been over and offered us coffee! We are definitely looking forward to going back here when the new menu comes out shortly.

Myself and partner went for a meal on the evening of 23rd February 2013 to this restaurant . The waitress was lovely very helpful and couldn't do enough for you. . I asked for slight changes to my selections which was no problem at all , I really did get the impression that they would do their upmost to make sure you enjoyed your food , I think it would be helpful if they put the weight of the steaks that they are serving on the menu but that is just a small observation and the steaks we had were of good size. I definitely would recommend paying this restaurant a visit , they have an a la carte menu and a fixed price menu to choose from , a good selection not just steaks a variety of dishes. The fillet steaks we had were cooked to perfection , and although Diane sauce was not on the menu they prepared it for me no problem . The accompanying fat chips were lovely as was the fresh veg. We also had the cheeseboard which offered a good selection of cheeses & biscuits, we had one between us as we were quite full by then . So we enjoyed our meal and we will be going back in the future .

Visited here last night with a friend with high hopes considering this place lists themselves as a 'steakhouse'. Upon arrival i was impressed with the nice setting next to the golf course. As we entered i thought they might be closing due to the fact there was only 1 group of people in the restaurant. This is when alarm bells began to ring as i live very local to this place and nobody has ever mentioned/recommened it to me before... Maybe there is a reson? Anyway the waitress was lovely and sat us down straight away then got us two drinks. The atmosphere definitley left alot to be desired here. Upon reading the menu there was a choice of four steaks... But with no sizes!? What? No sizes?... Im sorry if my expectations are abit high here but coming to a STEAKHOUSE i expect to be able to fill myself on meat alone, worry about the chips and garlic bread later and then wake up the next day with a meat hangover! I asked the waitress what size they were to which she replied 'a decent size'.... Very dissapointing. The steak i actually got was ok and of a pub meal standard. The chips were very nicely presented but i wish more effort had gone into worrying about the chips being cooked in the middle than building a jenga tower out of them. Overall it would be ok if i was paying £7-£8 for it in the local pub but for a steakhouse thats charging £22+ its just not good enough. Oh and they didnt come on sizzling plates?.. Whats that all about.

We popped in for breakfast the other morning, only to be met by what can only be described as a phalanx of the friendliest staff you could ever wish to encounter. And, my word, what a breakfast it was! A truly resplendent English spread, in a pub that exuded charm and individuality. None of this soulless, microwave 'ping' malarkey you get with the dreary chain establishments. No, no, this was the real McCoy—proper British hospitality, by Jove!
