Witnessed the altercation mentioned by Peter H. Handled perfectly by Andrea. She confirmed Vaping not allowed but would not tolerate the abusive, disgusting language from the customer. She was correct his vile language and abusive tirade was OTT.

Visited today for food, women on the next table where drinking and smoking vapes when asked to stop they told the manager I was abusive and the manager asked our table to leave,would not recommend this place to anyone

Overall the food and beer is reasonably good and they serve cask ale. The place is tidy, clean, has an excellent outside area and is well laid out. The pizza from the wood fired oven outside is lovely. However, we have had some extremely poor food in here occasionally. The service is definitely what lets this place down the most and the bar is drastically understaffed. It seems to be run by young inexperienced staff most of the time and would greatly benefit from a maitre d or better food and beverages management. A little more meet and greet would go a long way as would more experienced staff. Hope that helps Update: Better management, better service and great food & beer for last few months. I now give 5 stars.

First timer. The food was gorgeous and the service was fab I can't wait to go back. Got loads going on for Christmas

Someone urinated all over the men's cubicle floor at about 5pm. Staff did not clean it once during the time I was there and by 11.30pm it was pooled up and had spread to the rest of the toilet floor. So I was literally walking through the urine of lots of other punters who were all doing the same and then walking it straight out and onto the carpet. Food order was ok. Small portion of chips and the steak was not medium rare, it was medium and cold.

Really ridiculously small portions for the price of food in here. Food pretty tasteless and not worth the price. Staff not welcoming at all. Moved us tables because it was apparently booked with no reserved sign, disorganised and only a mere apology was offered. Got sat near the rowdy bar with family instead of the quiet corner we had opted for.

Well kept cask ale and excellent service. Food delicious.

Room was a good size and it was quiet but the mattress wasn't comfortable and there was no breakfast available. Staff friendly.

If I could give 10 stars on this review I would. This little Inn was recommended by family as a place to stay while visiting. The staff were friendly to deal with right down to the housekeeping staff as well. Our room was cozy with lots of tea and coffee waiting for us. We had a few meals and drinks during our 5 day stay and each time the food was consistently delicious. There is a gorgeous outdoor space as well along with a play area. Pub is dog friendly as well. Coming from Canada I wish we had dog friendly pubs. Would definitely stay here again.

Excellently presented tasty magnificent food that would not be out of place in a top London hotel, it really is that good. I've visited this restaurant a couple of times recently and have not been disappointed. From slow cooked lamb shank to really fresh fish there is a great selection of food on the menu. I can highly recommend the homemade lemon cheesecake if it is on the dessert menu on the day. Helpful polite friendly staff were on hand throughout this excellent dining experience.

Unfortunately we didn't have a good experience during our visit. It was my son's birthday. A couple of the staff members were very rude whilst trying to order food. After waiting a really long time for the food, items were missing and the food itself was dry. Burgers all dry and the pasta cheese sauce was like water. The toilets were in a really bad way too. So disappointed

Really lovely pub with a great atmosphere! Cocktails are fab plus the beer garden and pizza’s cooked in the massive oven outdoors are lush.

A very special night to celebrate our parents 50th wedding anniversary 🍾 We had our autistic son with us and the staff showed us to our seats immediately , came to the table for us to order drinks so we didn’t need to worry about upsetting our son, lovely service , friendly and such accommodating staff. It was a lovely night 🥂

Lovely clean rooms big comfy bed plenty of tea coffee and essentials

Just had a pot of tea with friends, but was disappointed that the tea was lukewarm and I had to wait for a teaspoon to stir my tea. It won't put me off going back, so let's hope I get a hot pot of tea next time.

What a fantastic place. Food excellent and the staff are all amazing. They know the menu, they know their stuff. Make sure you book, its ways busy. Carparking a bit tight. The cheese and onion pie is to die for...well, nor really. But its good! Lunch menu is £8.50 for the pie or £14 for dinner for the same pie

Had the lunch menu for ten people after a family funeral - well cooked variety of dishes, which all arrived hot at the same time (not always the case for larger groups). Friendly staff helped create the right mood for the occasion.

We recently visited this establishment on a Sunday evening, and unfortunately, our experience left much to be desired. From the moment we walked in, the service was apathetic and unwelcoming, extending from the bar to the wait staff and even the management. After placing our orders for dinner, we waited an hour for our food to arrive, which was pricey and average at best. What added to the disappointment was the lack of communication or acknowledgment during the lengthy wait. Not once did any staff member approach our table to offer an explanation or even a simple apology. We couldn't leave fast enough after dinner. In contrast to this experience, we later visited the Seven Stars pub, where the service was not only friendly but the prices were more reasonable. The stark difference only emphasized the shortcomings of our time at this establishment. We strongly advise others to steer clear of this venue, as there are undoubtedly better places in the area that offer superior service and value for money.

Eight of us had food and then too many drinks 😬 The food was excellent and service was fantastic, Tiziano was excellent and couldn’t of done more to help us.

From the moment of arrival the staff were very attentive and welcoming. We hadn’t booked so were relieved when they could accommodate us. We were quickly shown to a lovely table and told that the table needed to be back in a little over 2hrs, which was more than enough time. It is always a good sign when you are following the server with your eyes whilst they carry food orders to another table. The great looking Yorkshire pudding and generous helping of beef had me sold before it arrived at its destination. One chicken and one beef roast swiftly ordered with an accompanying bottle of Malbec, reasonably priced and we were all set. The bar tender brought over our wine and water quickly and we were very much looking forward to our food as another couple of roasts reached there destinations. Less than 10 minutes later and our food was in situ looking just the job. Great portions - roast potatoes were done to perfection, carrots, parsnips, cabbage and broccoli stems all accompanied with lashings of gravy and a cracking looking Yorkshire pudding. Tasted as good as it looked … only think left on the plate was the pattern - one of my favourite roast dinners in a long time. The service was just right there when you needed them - condiments arrived with the meal, check back done in a timely manner. Bar man who was great dropped into conversation that a new cocktail menu was soon to be released. We’ll be back for another roast and definitely try some cocktails next time. Well done an impromptu visit turned out to be a cracking success one of the best roast dinners in a while.

40 plus for dinner & they refused to top up a jug of juice for the kids that they initially said the kids get juice with their meals. The girls serving were great but as for our family ever returning for the sake of a jug of juice it’s a NO! A small minded approach from one member of staff has assured me that I’ll never set foot in the place again on principle..the food was ok to be fair. To me it’s about customer service & the feel good factor of any eatery. You can’t beat eating local but never again at The Griffin!

2 families ( 3 adults, 2 children and 1 toddler) booked for 6pm we arrived on time to be told table wasn’t ready but was being sorted as we speak. So we went to the bar for drinks while we waited, 6.20 still no sign of our table being ready so I went to find a member of staff to be told again by the same person who we originally spoke to it would be 5 minutes. So off we went back to the bar. We finally sat at 6.30 so 30 minutes later than we originally booked for we was told they was waiting for our table to be free. We sat down and the room we was put in was empty with several tables free to fit our party size so not sure what the hold up was. Anyway we chose what we wanted to eat took a while for the waiter to come over to take the order during this time one of us had to go the bar to get drinks as we was fed up of waiting. Whilst we was waiting another party arrived around 20 mins after we was seated and a couple around 10 mins after them. 40 minutes passed and we was wondering where are food was as we was all very hungry and we had a restless cranky 1 year old, and we had been in the pub 1 hour and 10 mins and still hadn’t eaten, then we seen food start to come out but not for our table they only went and served the table of 5 next to us first and the couple also, so we asked where was our food we ordered before these two other tables therefore surely our food should come first and we all ordered dinners so surely it doesn’t take long to plate up, we was told they was all coming out together along with the other tables so we waited.. then nothing these two tables were eating and we was still left with nothing so another 10 minutes went by, by this point we wasn’t very happy so my brother went to Find a manager she just said she would go and see what was happening she never came to the table to apologise or make sure everything was ok it was all left to the waiter, we did get offered a free round of drinks to which no one wanted as we had not long got one when the food did arrive it was lovely and we all really enjoyed it but the service just spoilt it for us. This isn’t the first time the service has spoilt our experience but unfortunately after this weekend we won’t be returning until the service improves it’s a shame really cuz the food was nice. There was plenty of staff on too but just no sign of any.

Always get good food here with a well balanced menu and plenty of options. Had a beef roast dinner today and it was by far the best roast I've had out of the house. Staff were lovely as usual.

Had a large booking for tea last night. So we had to pre order our meals 48hr prior to the meal. Some of our party cancelled on the day of the meal, meaning their meals were no longer needed. When I contacted the griffin to explain, it was no bother atall. The food was beautiful, no complaints from anyone of our party. You made a special surprise meal go so smoothly, thankyou so much 💖 and then halfway through our meal a lovely lady started singing, so then we enjoyed the music, she was also fantastic!

Stayed over last night. Room a bit tired but the bed was excellent shower good. Only complaint no USB connection in room. I didnt find one anyway. Had surf & Turf and it was excellent had a dide of onion rings which were great and I couldnt believe the quantity for 2.50. Staff good & helpful. Would definitely stay there again.

We had an evening meal at The Griffin Inn, it was lovely. I had a celeriac soup which was velvety smooth and delicious, followed by a cheese and onion pie on a bed of cauliflower with a cheese sauce, honestly, it was heavenly they obviously have a marvellous team of chefs. My family had steak meals, or burgers and all declared them superb. There is a delightful array of desserts. It's a very attractive olde worldy kind of a place, wheelchair friendly with a very pretty garden and children's area outside. Parking is to the rear which involves taking the road to the left of the inn if driving from Kirby. I would highly recommend The Griffin Inn for a family meal or a romantic encounter.
