You feel pissed when ya walk in cos of the wonky floor🤣

Yet again myself and my wife had a fantastic roast , lamb and one beef all freshly cooked with a good sized portion at a good price with excellent staff, this in my opinion is the best place for a roast in the area and one of the best anywhere.

Lovely warm atmosphere individual not run off the chain style. Staff was very welcoming and went above and beyond for my mums 84th birthday. The food was delicious and piping hot.

Excellent service from start to finish. Celebrating a family birthday, arrived early so had a drink in the bar( fantastic atmosphere) moved to our table on requested time. Drinks order taken upon seating and meal order taken once we had time to choose from the extensive varied menu. Food arrived all at the same time, hot and delicious!! Thank you all for making our birthday dinner into special memories! Will definitely return soon.

The meal was excellent,,service great,,but the whole place could do with decorating, it's been a few years since last dining there,,and it was the same as then,,that said we went for the food, which was excellent.

I wish I would have taken photos of the food we had but it was incredible. You could tell it was cooked fresh and it came out piping hot. Service from the girls was brilliant. Atmosphere was lovely. We looked around for ages before giving wheatsheaf a go because most gastro pubs are very much the same menus in a different venue. This place is a classic pub restaurant and my family and I are already looking forward to going back again. Thank you.

Waited 10 minutes to be acknowledged and seated, table was booked for half 5 and we recieved our food at 6.45!! The beef was soo beyond dehydrated it was crusty and flaky, the chips were barely cooked as if they'd been boiled. Informed the wait staff of how poor the food was and was offered nothing to rectify it. Extremely annoying paying 90pound for 2 adult and a child's meal that was practically left over garbage.

Used to call in quite often with the dog. Was always alright, decent staff, quiet pub. Went in more recently on a Friday night and it must have been some kind of club meeting for the flat earth society. “Ian”, probably not his real name, banging on like he’s David Icke in an exotic pet shop (lizards everywhere), trying to ask the big existential questions, albeit with the nous of Jim Davidson. It would have been alright if he felt he just needed to tell me his views and left it at that. But he didn’t. Or couldn’t. Weird. Hurried drink and left. Won’t go back - lady with the name above the door seems to find it either normal or humorous for paying customers to be subjected to such cretinous behaviour. The pub up the road will do for now.

Tried the Sunday lunch here as it was recommended by our friends and it didn’t disappoint proper home cooked food at a reasonable price All Staff are very welcoming and the owners are lovely and stand and have a chat with you Would highly recommend this place

Called into the wheatsheaf today waited a hour for our food thought this was excepted has we hadn’t booked a table sat outside in one of the pods the Sunday roast was amazing highly recommend everything was freshly made and piping hot will defo be going back

Called at the wheatsheaf for a good meal whated over 50 minutes it would have been OK if the food had been good 👎 never again I forgot to say don't complain you might get told of .

Waited nearly an hour for our meal,wasn't worth the wait. Please don't complain about anything the landlady is very rude

8 persons went for birthday party meal, My wife says she has been a few times on a Sunday and the dinners are extremely tasty. We went on a Saturday, Most enjoyed their meal, I ordered a medium steak, couldn’t eat it has extremely tough, they offered to exchange but has mine was the last served all the others had either eaten or were nearly finished and ready to go. I didn’t push for a refund as didn’t want to spoil the birthday atmosphere Based on my steak meal and the price I paid, I wouldn’t return

We had a my father in laws celebration of life here. The buffet food was beautiful, homemade chips and soup amazing as always. As a family we would like to thank Sean, Maxine and team for their friendly service.

Had a family meal Wednesday for my hubby birthday we booked a pod because we had 2 dogs .but of course it threw it down. So landlord said you can take the dogs eat in the pool room we orded food. It was delicious. Service quick .we had best seats in the house for the England game .my 4 year old westie benji loved running around with the pubs pup she made herself very comfortable at our table. Was chatting for a while with landlady they made us feel very welcome thanks for great food .lovely atmosphere. See you soon hopefully sun be out dogs can run free in beer gardern

AVOID AT ALL COSTS! Booked as a table 5 for 17:30 on a Sunday. We waited 1hour 30 mins for food when it came out it was inedible. Despite this we all ate what we could. When we complained the owner refused to do anything for us as we've eaten some of the food. My partner is a very mild mannered man and asked for some of the food to be removed due to the quality. When we complained about this the owner was rude and arrogant and became shouting at the group of us. He agreed to take the cost of one burger off in the end. After I described how bad the state of my burger was he forced my partner to pay the full amount of the entire meal. After this a female member of staff believed to be his wife with dark hair assaulted my partner atrying to get to me after I had left the pub. They had a group of men surround my partner to intimidate him while he was simply having a conversation. They have no hospitality skills no common decency and have ended what should have been a nice afternoon in absolute shambles and having to fill in a crime report

Really enjoyed our meal for tea.Garlic bread was a full baguette & the nicest we have tasted..Curry full of chicken was delish.Also flavoursome Lasagne..Fab service,will defo go back.Thankyou

The food from this establishment is not what it was. The starter calamari was obviously frozen, and small pieces. The sizzling Blackbean sauce was bland and not very nice. Way too expensive for the quality of the food. This will by last time here. It's such a shame was great food years ago.

Food was good and the waitress was lovely. However, the toilets were disgusting - two dirty cubicles, one didn't flush. The sink was filthy and so was the hand dryer

Absolutely fantastic as usual! The best chips we've ever had, we had the beef sizzler and steak & ale pie. Staff so friendly and welcoming too. Our favourite place to eat, please don't change a thing. Perfect :) :) :)

Second visit and it was gorgeous as was the first time. Came the first time as a party of 8 on a Monday so we all had something different, everyone enjoyed their meals and said it was delicious especially the home made proper chunky chips! I had the rib eye which was really lovely. We have returned within a week for a Sunday roast and can probably say other than my own home made and my mums it’s the nicest Sunday roast I’ve eaten! Real home cooked roasties, thick tender meat (I had the trio of meats) Lovely home made gravy too. The desserts also fab, I had the white chocolate and raspberry meringue which was huge! Will definitely be returning x

Just love the Wheatsheaf and go back time and time again. It never disappoints. A traditional pub, it has a lovely welcoming charm. The pub floor slopes so when you walk through the door you feel like you’ve already had about six glasses of wine! But it just adds to the quaintness of this lovely pub. The food is always cooked fresh and fabulous and the service always friendly. I just love the sizzling platter, sweet Chili chicken my favourite! There’s also a large selection of gorgeous desserts and an extensive menu ranging from lunchtime snacks to Sunday lunch. It has a lovely big beer garden with plenty of outdoor seating as well as some all weather pods for when the weather is bad. Looking forward to my next visit

A fabulous evening. Ordered the afternoon tea and it came with sandwiches and the most delicious chips. The cakes were homemade and very tasty. Staff were attentive and friendly- lovely, warm service. Highly recommend.

Always a fun time after our hockey games, with amazing salt & pepper chips, a drink, and pulling the game apart with the bar parrot joining in!

Went yesterday for a family party booked for 4.30p.m over 2 hrs we waited for food all pre orders for 30 of us. The food came out in dribs and drabs some pre orders messed up the food was awful. Didn't have this trouble when we went in october and there were more people in the party. We paid over £500 for the food. Won't be returning.

A tremendous old fashioned boozer that serves wonderful food at acceptable prices. I ate a great curry and my wife a sizzler and we were both delighted. Staff are delightful. Service isn’t quick as I think all food is cooked individually and it has a pub food wow factor. Only downside is parking which is limited. However I was lucky and found a space. I’m a bit limited in walking so grateful. But pub can’t do anything about where it is situated. All in all many thanks.

Absolutely delicious homecooked food!! The food was out of this world, lovely atmosphere and very friendly owners. It was so nice to have proper food not ding ding. There was a bit of a wait (we were told before we ordered) as they were so busy and I'm not surprised with the quality of the food. We will 100% be back. Keep doing what you're doing :)

Third visit to wheatsheaf , excellent food and friendly staff.

10 of us went here for a family meal and we all had a main meal and afters at a very good price with very good sized portions and excellent service from the staff and the chef always comes out when she can to see how everything is so I would highly recommend this pub.

I have been visiting The Wheatsheaf for a few years now, maybe once every 2-3 months. The service is always great and the food is incredible value and really tasty (they do THE best homemade chips ever). In my last visit I had the American burger as it was burger Wednesday with a free dessert. I left a very full and happy person.

So my grown up children took me here for a meal for my birthday…omg the food was unreal! I honestly couldn’t fault it! Proper old fashioned pub food with proper chips (like your mum made in the 80’s) and my suet steak pudding was absolutely full of steak! To die for! The staff are so friendly and I could understand why it was busy on a Monday night! Thank you for such a lovely meal in a lovely welcoming pub xxx

Only ever had drinks here but always found the staff to be decent and the prices to be good as well. Massive beer garden at the back and dog friendly. Great for the kids in the summer when they have the football nets out.

Amazing food as always - fresh and huge portions (we had to put some meat in a tray for the dog to take home!) for a great price. Lovely staff and manager. The food was disgusting, I believe this is under new ownership, well you need to do better, Public areas are in need of a good clean, some staff are friendly others here are not maybe train them in customer service, will not be coming back also will be leaving a review in my news paper.

Went with friends and had the festive menu, I had ordered gluten free and was served individually, staff were great and spot on! Choice of desert as well, went with sticky toffy pudding and it was delicious . Lovely home made food and very friendly staff. We had a lovely evening and plan to visit again for afternoon tea

The food was absolutely gorgeous, the flaming Cajun chicken was so tasty and the staff was so friendly, can highly recommend and can’t wait to go back!!

Went for lunch. Place is waiting to be fitted out with new carpets after flood so the big room that we were in felt cold and not very nice but the welcome was warm and the food was lovely and plentiful.

Went into the Wheatsheaf for a family meal. The food was excellent. All of the family was more than happy. The staff couldn't do enough for you. Would definitely recommend anyone to visit and try the food and the friendly welcome. Definitely value for money

Went here with my wife and 2 daughters for dinner and we were not disappointed it was delicious especially the rib eye steak with dianne sauce which I had cooked perfectly, the portions are a very good size at good prices and great service I would highly recommend this place to anyone.

Oh my lord! What a place! I.poppednin with my family for a quick lunch and a drink before going to family events. I left there a changed man! We ordered lunch for 3, there was enough food to feed at least 6!! The liver and bacon was one of the best I have ever tasted! Came as whole livers, rather than all chopped up, succulent, just amazing! The wife had a huge burger that she couldn't finish, there was so much, it was fresh, tasty and just what the doctor ordered! They had flood damage recently and are getting back on their feet, and doing very well at it! Defo can't recommend this place enough. Just wish I lived closer, I would come back in a heartbeat. Thanks for making that part of our holiday memorable.

One guest called Noreen Desmond seems to think that a busy food establishment can get fantastic food out in less than 30 minutes. Well this place makes everything from scratch and when busy the food can take a while but thats to be expected. If you want food quick go to another establishment that fries or microwaves everything from either the freezer or already cooked by a supplier and heated up. You should also take at least 30 minutes to consume your food and if the home cooked chips came with salt and vinegar on them their would be plenty of complaints. That's what the salt cellar and condiments are there for, so you can season your food to your liking. Now this place is absolutely fantastic and they accommodate your every need as best as possible. I for one appreciate the effort that goes into every dish here. Someone peels a lot of spuds and hand cuts them for all those homemade chips and roast potatoes as most restaurants these days use frozen fries and roast potatoes so not fresh at all. If you want a great meal that a lot of effort has gone into it with fresh produce and cooked like at home then this is your place and Karen's need not visit if all they can do is moan as if she thinks this food is bad then god knows what she thinks of thousands of other places that really are dire

Went for tea one evening with a friend. The music playing was quite loud and a bit like dance/trance music that didn't go with the setting. Food was lovely and well cooked but too much on the plate,was very overfacing

I’ve not been in the wheatsheaf for such a long time and wow that roast dinner was amazing. I’d forgotten how good they are. We regularly go out for Sunday lunch and most definitely won’t be going anywhere else again after trying such a lot of other places. Well done to all staff as well for working in such hot weather and still delivering the best roast.
