Not very impressed with the Barn today. They have really let it go. It opened at 10am, we got there at 10.30am. It was freezing!!! Warmer outside!!! Ordered 2x toasted tea cake and coffees. It was cold and over cooked, butter frozen. How can you mess such an easy order up??? ☹️ The toilet had a full bin, come on. 😱

booked a table on christmas eve but walked straight back out again and went somewhere much better after walking in… place was freezing and empty. staff were awkward and didn’t welcome us, didn’t offer us any menus or drinks after we were sat there for five minutes and we had to ask ourselves, only to be given a menu of mediocre items i could make myself at home. it’s a shame as it’s in a nice location and interior has lots of potential. they need to tell the staff to liven up, and make the place less gloomy and dull. we just felt as if we weren’t welcome or wanted there. coming from a current waitress at a popular cafe, i would never treat my guests like this, especially at christmas time.

Came here few years ago for afternoon tea and it was fabulous but how things have changed so I am updating my original 5 star review! Food - shop bought items placed on plates produced as an afternoon tea, very disappointed. Fridge in the service counter with lovely big cakes, but yet we were served Mr Kiplings Fancies and Macroons from Lidl... we got just the 1 drink each too not a pot like we've had previously. Place - oh my days it was freezing inside we could see our breath and couldn't even take our coats off to eat. There is a big fire inside but it was not lit! Shelves are half empty and full of dust, not at all festive and no christmas music playing quite sad ambience really as its a gorgeous barn and could be amazing and cosy. We ate up quickly and left food and 1 drink went cold quicker than ever such a shame yhings have changed.

Bit of a shame really, brought my 91 year old Grandad for some lunch, waited around 45 mins in the freezing cold for our food, my poor Grandad was dithering by the time we left. I really didn't enjoy my breakfast either, a strange charcoal / kinda flame grilled taste to the bacon & sausages, hash browns were crispy but mush inside, didn't get chance to give any feedback in person as we weren't asked, oh FYI the ketchup sachets went out of date in July. Regretfully I wouldn't come back, but don't be discouraged by my review, it's not a slating, just my honest opinion. Support small businesses and try for yourself.

Once a lovely barn interior but needs lots of TLC. Car park as the first impression is shabby. Choices today largely limited to sandwiches or cooked breakfast. On a cool September day, it was too cold to take coats off.

Visit this place often and usually lovely food and lovely coffee but this time, our two cappuccino’s tasted like just hot milk with no coffee in and chocolate sprinkles on top. Very disappointed. Sausages on the 3 breakfasts were extremely burned on one side (they tasted like ash). Hoping this is just a one off as the staff are lovely

Are currently on site. We found this beautiful place through the Brit Stops booklet and are standing in front of the door with our camper for an overnight stay. We were welcomed very friendly. Registering previously by phone was not possible because the phone is currently not working. But it wasn't a problem to come here spontaneously. The cake is very very tasty! It's hard to decide, they all look great!

I had the full sized English Breakfast and a very generous pot of tea. The chef had it on the table in no time and it was really hearty and well put together. A side order of toast rounded it off perfectly. A great little find in a spacious barn. The barn could do with a couple of skylights maybe to brighten it up.

Sadly it was not a nice day, but having seen a tourist sign for the venue we went along. Nice rustic decor but it was cold and damp. There was only one other table being used. The staff were friendly, sadly the food offer was a bit sad, we ordered tea for two and one scone. When it arrived the tea was quite weak, but the scone was totally stale!! Really stale. It is far better to not sell anything than offer stale food

Been here quite a few times and had mixed experiences, sometimes the service is very good and at others it can be diabolical. We've had a few occasions where we've had to wait an age for a coffee and cake, even at quiet times, and others where it's taken just a few minutes. Pleasant place though to sit for a natter over a cuppa and bite to eat.

Were welcomed and taken to our seat. Asked if it was table service and were told somebody would come and take our order. So we waited and waited and waited before asking again for the lady to disappear down the stairs without taking our order. The couple who came in after us and had their drinks 10 minutes before we even ordered but they appeared to be regulars and staff spent time chatting to them whilst we were ignored. I appreciate return custom is the bread and butter of any business but the e staff did not know that we weren’t locals trying the cafe for the first time and would have become regulars. The latte was good and lemon drizzle average. Spent most of the time holding on to table as we were upstairs and each time people walked across the floor vibrated - felt a bit like we were in Jurassic Park and the dinosaurs were approaching! A shame as it’s very nicely decorated just need to up their game.

Lovely place to come for a piece of cake and a coffee. Nice staff and great service. Another visit to Fir Tree (27.01.22), they'd stopped serving hot food about half an hour before we got there because of staff shortage however the chef saw how disappointed we were and went and made a full breakfast which we shared. We've been here a number of times and go for a walk when we get there with our dog and then we go for a pot of tea and a bite to eat.
