The best restaurants serving British food in North West

This is Wetherspoons fair at 3 times the price, local Cumberland sausage??? not from butchers more like Pioneer, frozen chips and peas and a pot of gravy granules for £18, Take my advice and go to Lifeboat at Maryport and see the difference for £13, with real chips and an egg and tomato and mushrooms.

We called today after a walk around the res. Party consisted of me and my wife, daughter,son inlaw and two of my grown up grandsons. The food was excellent as always atmosphere to match,give it a go you wont be disappointed.

At short notice, they supplied everything from the water urn to 2 members of staff for a family event. We ordered the silver buffet. All of the food was fresh, well presented and tasty. After a discussion with the servers, the food which we didn't eat was donated and did not go to waste. Very professional, discreet and good value for money. Would strongly recommend.

This was the first time we had returned to the hotel, since we got married there 15 years ago.. We had the same room and took advantage of the gin experience and ate there as well. Firstly the staff are amazing. Blake leads a fantastic team, every single member cannot do enough for you. Our room was perfect and so big. The meal at dinner was unbelievable, very high quality at a very competitive price. The high light was the gin experience. Blake is so knowledgeable and engaging.. We actually made our own gin that we took home with us… The bar was well stocked with local beers and obvs house gin… Breakfast again was perfect. We will deffo be back and not leave it so long next time…

Very poor fly's on the pasties should not be allowed with fly's on food should not bother buying from this store as we didn't.

One of the best fish and chips I've had. Portion size are really good, £36 for 4 of us, 2 battered sausage and chips, 2 large fish and chips, 3 cans of pop and a bottle of water. Batter was really crispy and the fish was very tasty. Really friendly staff. Will definitely be coming back. Thank you

Went on a recommendation and was lovely. Went at 10am for Saturday morning breakfast Great coffee and service. Persian eggs with chorizo were nicest I’ve ever had….family who all had the small English breakfast said was plenty and very nice. Will be back for sure!!!

This is a chip shop that I have frequented over many years. I called in at a busy time and patiently waited 40 minutes. This was not a problem. I ordered two fish at a cost of £11.00 to take away, living less than 5 minutes away. Once home we unwrapped them to find the the batter was greasy and soggy and both fish were undercooked. We disposed of the food and were very disappointed. As this is an establishment that I have always enjoyed I felt I needed to bring it to their attention. I was greeted with hostility and disinterest, sprinkled with profanities. I was told to bring back the food if I wanted a refund. I explained that the food had been thrown away. They offered no resolution or apology. Sadly I will no longer use Chaes. As a pensioner struggling with today’s cost of living this was al treat that turned sour.

Was really looking forward to our 3 course meal that we had paid for through Virgin Experience Days...... But it was SHUT . Just a number scribbled on an A board. So obviously can't comment on the service, the food, the ambience......

We go to Lowries as a family every Saturday morning and have done for several years. The food has always been perfect and in all the time we have been there for breakfast we have never had a complaint. The staff are excellent, always very attentive, courtious and helpfull. We are a party of between six and ten people, usually with a couple of babies and or older children but we always feel they do their best to accommodate us with the seating arrangements. Paramos aquí desde el desayuno mientras pasábamos por Brough. No fue la bienvenida más amistosa cuando entramos "si está comiendo adentro, debe poner sus datos de contacto en el libro", nos dijo en voz alta desde el área de la cocina. El menú era mío en detalle, ya que no indicaba lo que estaba incluido en un desayuno grande o en el pequeño, lo que generaba confusión en el grupo si se incluía una tostada. El personal estaba bien, pero podría haber sido más acogedor. La calidad de la comida era normal, ya que incluso a mi hijo no le gustaron las salchichas, que es la primera vez que te da una idea de su calidad. Hizo un trabajo para llenarnos, pero no me impresionó y no estaría de visita si volviera a pasar, ya que Kirkby Stephens está a solo 4 millas por la carretera y tiene algunos buenos cafés para elegir.

Un bar brillante con un ambiente animado para la familia. Genial para ver el fútbol y venir a tomar una bebida a un precio razonable. Y tal vez un bebé descarado guinness por solo £ 2 no puede ser mejor que eso
