Lovely pub. Called with a group of friends for a drink and a bite to eat. The staff were brilliant, so friendly and very attentive. Lovely food and reasonably priced. Would recommend to anyone in the area

We booked a table for 6pm. We were on time. The food came out after 1h 45mins, but had to go back- Not once were we checked on, or apologised for the delay. Their wagu burgers were dry, they were like cardboard, as though they’d been sat for ages and reheated, the bread buns were soggy, the sweet potato chips were very over cooked and really greasy. They even managed to forget the cheese and bacon off the ‘wagu’ burgers, hence why they went back (took another 15 mins to put cheese on them!). If were weren’t so hungry we’d have walked out. It transpires the poor girl who served us hadn’t had a break for 8 hours! We won’t be back, perhaps just an off day because three different families were treat like this. Rubbish.

We were recommended this place to eat. Proffesional, friendly, and welcoming service. Clean. The menu was a hit with the family, build your own burgers, build your own pizzas, we were spoilt for choice. The food was very tasty and plenty of it, we took a doggy bag home. Would certainly call again.

Always drive past ,but today dropped in and was pleasantly surprised. £4 for Stella , dont get that in many places and food prices were very reasonable , we opted for sandwich each with a side of chips (just £2.50)and onion rings to share. Well food came out , more like a buffet than a light lunch , side order of chips was huge, left absolutely stuffed . Oh yeah, staff were as usual Cunbrian awesome. Pub nicely decorated. Definitely on my cards to go back again

We had a meal for four on a Friday night. The food was really nicely presented, and the portions were generous. Everything came fresh and hot, and was really tasty. The staff were friendly and the atmosphere in the pub was nice.

Booked for dinner and certainly wasn’t disappointed. A welcome face greeted us. The food was piping hot and all home cooked and fresh. The desserts were amazing too and worth saving space for! My 2 little boys even got special Sunday’s for pudding which they loved. Would re book if we come back to the area. Thank you for a lovely meal!

A group of us visited the Greyhound for the first time in quite a long while , at least two different landlords since the last time we visited , maybe more ?. And the Greyhound is back to the welcoming local pub serving good local grub like it used to be I am glad to say. The service was good , the drinks were all good and the food was all cooked fresh to order and very good. We had a wide range between us including the Cumberland Sausage , Home made Chicken and Leek Pie , Sizzling sweet and sour chicken , Lasagne amongst others. All came with proper home made chips and all the trimmings at a reasonable price. We had a good Saturday Night in the Greyhound and will return soon !.

We had read good and bad reviews for this pub, but thought well not everyone could be wrong. We went on a Tuesday night just to break the cooking up. No chance, walked down from our lodge only to find they weren't doing food. No warning outside. Let's face it it's in the middle of nowhere so you just know that chef mike is very busy. Can't comment on the food as we didn't try it. Got to say though the lady behind the bar was very nice.

I would recommend here for Sunday dinner as they seem to be able to cook that quiet well and this is a great dog friendly pub. So we thought we would go back in the week as we where impressed with the service. Unfortunately we requested the lasagna when it arrived it was hot but the topping was like larva hard/crisp the beef had no sauce and was dry and inedible both lasagna went in the doggie bag and we just eat the chips and salad. I suspect it was a reheat from lunch time a great shame we shall now have to find another pub for our holiday meals.

Visited today for Sunday lunch after reading excellent reviews on here. We arrived and didn't get the friendly welcome other people seem to get. Staff seemed uninterested. We ordered Sunday lunch which consisted of lamb, flat Yorkshire pudding. Lack of fresh vegetables and watery gravy. The whole meal was lukewarm and tasteless. My daughters chicken goujons were in batter and not breadcrumbs but on the plus side her chips were good. The children's play area and parent only seating were probably the best part of the whole meal.

I cannot praise the Greyhound inn highly enough. I visited with my husband and two children yesterday evening for a meal and we ended up stsying longer than intended due to amazing hospitality and the lovely welcoming atmosphere. The menu had something to suit everyone and the food did not disappoint. ..Traditional pub grub which was plentiful and well cooked. The pub provided an area away from main diners where children could be entertained with table football, a pool table and other facilities for younger children. It catered for everyone young and old and allowed adults and children a relaxing evening without them infringing on each other. Top place and top owners! If you want an emjoyable evening with good food , this is the place to come!!

Had great reviews about this place as its owned by butchers from wigton, we used to use! Ordered mixed grill expecting the nice homemade black pudding, well I didn't get it it was factory made stuff yuck, also the shared platter as starter was so obviously frozen pioneer rubbish, at least the dogs were fed when we got home

Really good quality pub food nicely presented and served piping hot. Huge portion size. I have never seen a Lamb Henry that size in my life. It really would have fed 2 people. It wasn't a case of big portions and poor quality either. It was lovely quality meat served on a bed of mashed potato with a gravy boat full of As I was driving I can't comment on the beer but I am looking forward to sampling that next visit.

We were staying at Limestone lodges in Bothel, the Greyhound was our local, over the 5 days we stayed here (over new year) my family and I visited this wonderful wee pub 3 times, twice for dinner and once for drinks. Its a lovely wee village pub, very friendly and we were made feel most welcome from Simon and his staff. They were great with our kiddies which makes a huge difference in my book. The food is delicious and portions fantastic. Thank you, keep up the good work and we hope to see u all again next year. Ross, Arlene, Finlay and Freyah xx

Went with a group of 13 and was superbly looked after by the owners. From offering to pick us up and drop us off at the pub to the free chips they put on for us. They couldn't have done enough to make us feel welcome. Live sports on the tele and a pool table and dart board to keep us entertained. We never sampled the food but it looked spot on. Overall truly brilliant pub and looking forward to going back with the same group in December

My fiancé and two friends have been in here 3/4 times this week whilst on holiday. The food is amazing!! Portion sizes are large, menu is full of home favourites as well as creative surprises. Great selection of drinks at great prices. Every member of staff is friendly, positive and hard working. What a lovely restaurant with fabulous food and great staff. We were staying close by and had seen great reviews about the restaurant so we had to try it….not just once but two nights in a row it was that good. On the first night my husband had lamb shoulder which was cooked to perfection and fell off the bone, I had salmon and prawns which were equally as good. The second night it was seafood platter for my husband and sweet and sour chicken for me. Both meals were very good and it was great to have so much to choose from. It was a pleasant change to be able to choose the accompaniment to the meals rather than just chips with salad or veg. The staff were very attentive and polite. All in all it was a great experience and would definitely recommend this restaurant.

The festive lunch was ordered by all. Firstly the food for the most part was enjoyed by all 4 pax. However service was lacking both in care and in speed. A set 3 course lunch took 2.5 hours to complete. Dishes were delivered to table without suitable cutlery, serving tray left on the table, 3 pax finished their desserts before the 4th pax received theirs. Waiting staff had to be called for as they passed by, as all, except one, just ignored checking the table meal progress. It appears there is a shortage of staff, but in that case restrict the number of reservations to a level which can be coped with. That said the Brasserie was only a quarter occupied.
