The best selection of cakes and gluten free cakes I've ever eaten, and really good size portions, and brilliant value for money considering you're in the lake district. I had the best bacon sarni on gluten free 10/10 You get enough for 2 cups of tea from 1 pot, good value, best place in Keswick for tea&cakes, in fact in the lake District, will definitely be visiting The wild Strawberry 🍓 again.

My daughter and I had been out walking most of the morning, up to high force and the local area. We then drove to Keswick to get some lunch, We wanted something warm and comforting and the wild strawberry did not disappoint. We both ordered the same, Tomato and basil soup with warm buttered scone. OMG is was delicious. I just wish I didn't live so far away, because I would definitely be back. Also the staff were lovely and friendly. If you are in Keswick this is a place not to be missed. We didn't have room for any cake but they also looked amazing.

I have never paid £10 for a bowl of soup anywhere in the UK . Not really convinced that it was homemade. Quiche was also £10 For a small portion with some herbage and crisps I asked for a glass of water and was pointed to the water dispenser which the waitress was stood next to and was told to help myself . Would it have been too much trouble to bring me a glass of water ? As others have commented, staff are on their mobiles a lot of the time

£23 for two hot chocolates and two slices of cake! Absolutely extortionate! There were no prices on the cake cabinet, but had we have realised how much this was going to be and we weren't sheltering from the rain, we would have left. Service was also poor. It was table service, but after a little while of no acknowledgement we decided to go up and order, where we still had to wait to be acknowledged whislt three employees stood behind the counter chatting. Didn't make for a great overall experience sadly.

It was OK, a bit expensive for what it was. Very busy. Rather cramped towards the little kitchen area which needed to be passed to access the toilets. Staff bringing hot food out, too. A lil too narrow to be safe. I know dogs are everywhere, but not good in a busy environment, especially when they're straining on the leash to meet other dogs. I'm allergic to dogs, so it's not the place for me. We still think it's unhygienic to have them on food premises. I know I won't be popular for voicing this.

Only space was upstairs, we sat next to a large bluetooth speaker booming out rap music and upbeat dance music. I felt like I was in a gym or something. Food was OK. Kid’s tomato/pesto crepe was fairly inedible, watery and tasteless. Soup was good. For the cream teas, scones are a bit too crumbly and would prefer a seedless jam. Tea ratio must have been off because it was pretty watery. In general it was a fairly unenjoyable experience.

A mandarin and Seville orange Fentimans was £4.55 and a pumpkin milkshake £6.75. We were going to leave but as it was market day everywhere else was having and we were thirsty. Decided against eating here even though the scones looked lovely. I think the mark up on the bottle of Fentimans is taking the proverbial. We have probably been visiting this tea room for about 15 years once or twice a year and have loved it each time until this time. We visited as a family, myself, husband and two children. My husband and I both had a BLT which were very tasty, and my 5 year old had a child’s picnic meal. I thought it was rather overpriced at £12.95 but we were having a last treat for the last day of the holiday, we asked if the child’s sandwich could be bacon instead of the options of jam, ham or cheese and were told that it could be but it would be another £4……..£17 for a kids meal! So she chose jam, it arrived in a little basket, which she loved but the meal was absolutely ridiculous for the price, a jam sandwich on a ciabatta which was rather chewy isn’t great for a 5 year old, so I had to try and break some of it away to make it palatable for her, the white chocolate cookie was nice, and the cake, was a hard shortbread rocky road type thing, she could barely bite it! So for £12.95, it was a total rip off, if you are offering children’s meals, maybe cater to children, normal bread and some cupcakes, let’s be honest simple is better when it comes to kids, not sourdough ciabattas! 🙄 The cream tea was tasty, but came with such a measly portion of clotted cream it was hardly worth bothering I felt the £50 we spent was completely not worth it, the service wasn’t great and the waitresses could barely muster a smile between them. We won’t be back, we did wonder why it was so quiet, we have never seen so few people in there, but at the end of our visit we kind of saw why, such a shame as we have always loved our treat in there each year

Nice cafe but bit of a tourist trap. Giving a lower rating because it was overpriced. I paid £61 for a couple of sandwiches, crepes and drinks. Fentiman soda was £4.55 each. It’s a premium soda so I expect to pay more but this is higher than I’ve paid anywhere in UK for it. Coffees were over £4.50 each too. Selection of food is nice but limited so if you are looking for traditional cafe with hearty food this isn’t one for you. For context had a similar meal in Ambleside the day before and it cost £42. Food and service was ok but not special enough to warrant the inflated prices.

Doncha just love the word “Brossen”? Means fit to burst after a meal, in the local slang. And, whilst you might love the name, doncha just hate it when you’re the only customers in a restaurant. It means there’s zilch atmosphere and no-one else’s food to weigh up when it’s being brought to their table. Well, that was it on a Monday evening in the town centre – the only other occupied tables were just finishing off and waiting to pay as we sat down at 7.30. It’s a nice, modern room which starts its day as the Inn on the Square’s breakfast room (also available to non-residents) before becoming a “proper” restaurant as the day goes on. It’s bright, furnished in what I suppose is a Scandi style (think posh IKEA) with good sized tables , nicely spaced apart so, if anyone else had been there, they wouldn’t be ear-wigging your conversation. As suggested by the restaurant name, the menu is meat heavy and vegetarians will struggle to find much choice. But, for we omnivores, there’s plenty to go at. We both chose the same starter – a Cumbrian rarebit. Two thick slices of toast, topped with a proper rarebit. Cumbrian ale mixed with Torpenhow organic cheddar (from all of 13 miles away), with an onion and black garlic relish. It’s really nice. One of us did order steak as a main course . Well, I suppose one of you has to as you’re in a steakhouse. A flat iron accurately cooked as requested, but a tad lacking in flavour. It comes with a nicely griddled half of Little Gem and some roasted cherry tomatoes. And fries, of course. A chicken burger was loaded up with all sorts of stuff – chillies, onion, tomato, avocado and more of that organic cheddar. It comes with fries and a crisp onion ring. Only one of wanted dessert. Yes, that’d be me. A lovely blackberry and apple crumbel, with its own little jug of custard. It might have been the best dish of the evening. Service throughout had been attentive. Now, you might say that, as the only customers, it really should be attentive. But the guy was good and I’m sure he’d still do the business even when busy. On the dot of 8.30, there was an almighty crash. It was the shutters coming down in the kitchen. Yes, they were done for the evening and so were we.

This is only a review of the nicer restaurant / brasserie (Brasserie Level 31). Very, spookily, quiet. The town is low-grade bustley. But empty in this restaurant. It's nicely presented. Clean. Staff keen but a bit hesitant/unpolished. Food was very good indeed. The pâte crème brulée was nice, as was the white asparagus starter (plenty of asparagus!). The lamb was excellent. Wine options reasonable value. I guess it was too traditional and pricy for the beerier boozier denizens of Keswick?

Food delicious. Took ages to prepare some fish and chips, and then forgot a portion.

We had a pleasant meal here and good beer. Service was fine until we asked for a VAT receipt at the end. The nice lady at the bar said she had to keep it and offered a credit card receipt which wouldn’t be adequate for the VAT man. After having to resort to saying I wouldn’t pay without one a duplicate copy was handed over after a good wait with a surly comment that this was the best she could do but that was exactly what I asked for…..shame really because it just spoiled a good night at the end and given they had a duplicate copy all seems a bit unnecessary and self sabotaging
