Great service, excellent food all round lovely experience.

Would not recommend my worst enemy to dine here. The steaks was inedible. The service not very good and the surroundings was rubbish tables to close together for the prices that they charge was overpriced for what you get booked a month in advance for a rubbish table asked if we could change and told bluntly no. Wrong order brought for mains. Completely ruined an anniversary dinner. Poor quality steaks for a so called steakhouse

Reviews looked good, and to be fair the steaks were cooked well, but that’s where the good stuff ended. The steaks weren’t seasoned at all and tasted rather bland, the garlic sauce was flavourless, the sides are obscenely priced, and nothing we received was worth anything like the price we paid. Usually I’d have raised my concerns with the wait staff, but nobody bothered to come to check on us. I wasn’t expecting fine dining, but at £50+ per head I was expecting a little better than a chain pub.

Delicious! We had a lovely experience, friendly and good fun staff, perfectly cooked steak, and very tasty indeed. Loved it. We will definitely be back in next time we are over in Keswick.

Food and service was lovely. My husband had the ribeye and I had the chicken in a basket - both very tasty and delivered quickly to the table. Dragos was our waiter and he was very charming and chatty. We will definitely visit Brossen Steakhouse when we are in Keswick next time!

Lovley venue, modern and comfortable. We had great service and great attention on my husbands picky needs lol but they delivered them all accurately and with good humour. Everything was well cooked and flavoursome

Arrived 5 mins before allocated time seated promptly no menu and no drinks order placed after 15 mins shocking service we left at that point if the service is anything to go by in all My years never experienced so bad

Arrived 5 mins before allocated slot and promptly seated by assume manager. Waited for menu and for them to. Take drinks order nobody arrived after 15 minute wait and nothing with available staff pottering around we left. I can safely say I have never had this kind of service. The table next to us were obviously not happy either. Luckily we got a deltoids meal elsewhere and will. It be returning to this establishment

Went with 3 friends on Tueday night at 8.15 Informed by a member of staff it had closed early. With the potential of a £200 plus bill.... Is this normal managent policy ?? Would love to hear your reply. Maybe they are one of the few businesses that can turn business away in a very quiet January

Today we visited the restaurant for the first time and we had the 3 course festive menu and really enjoyed it. The young girl who served us was polite and attentive and the food was delicious and cooked perfectly. We will definitely be back. Great value at £31 for 3 courses. Decor beautiful too we really enjoyed it there.

We visited mid week early evening with our 11 month old. We are only local and had a voucher to use from last Christmas so had the steak sharer. We thoroughly enjoyed the meal, the steak was cooked perfectly. What was stand out was the service from the Romanian waiter Grago, he was absolutely superb with our little girl who was everywhere and anywhere and didn’t want to sit still. He was so pleasant, welcoming and nothing was too much. The Lake District has desperately missed our European workers, it is a pleasure to see them back and help push the service. You have been a huge miss over the last few years. Hats off to you, you are an absolute credit to the rest of your friends working in hospitality here in the Lake District.

This really is a good restaurant. Have visited here several times and never had a bad meal. My starter ( scotch egg) was packed with flavour and my steak was juicy and perfectly cooked. Chunky chips were totally gorgeous. The restaurant is on the pricy end but it is worth treating yourself.

This was my 2nd visit to this restaurant in 3 weeks, I wish I had got the name of the lady who appeared to be front of house as she was shocking. I had booked us in and put a note on the booking that we had a dog with us, twice she said I hadn’t put a note, I had, but I didn’t need to be told a further twice that I hadn’t! The 3 weeks before the same lady had served me & my family in the bar area, our round of drinks was expensive and served up with attitude and just plain rudeness. Such a shame as the restaurant staff are lovely. Food was extremely average, my husbands roast beef was very rough so he left it, he didn’t want to complain but I explained to them that it was inedible, no one appeared bothered. We come to Keswick a lot, I won’t come here again.

Incredible steaks and great ambiance Having googled best steaks in the lakes we settled on Brossen and were not disappointed. We’ve lived a privileged life and eaten at Marriane Lumbs, with Gary Rhodes and at a couple of Alex Aitkens restaurants and this was by far the best steaks we’ve ever had. For the first time ever I asked to speak to the chef to compliment him. Those steaks were perfection. Sadly our desert order was forgotten and, when we went to the loo I got the distinct impression they thought we had done a runner but when a steak is that good you can forgive them that, highly recommended

It was our 10th wedding anniversary and we wanted something a bit more special than the usual pub meal. The guy at the desk was great, said they could seat us just outside the restaurant doors in some lovely cosy seats and our dog would be welcome. We came the next day, food was amazing. Shared the 20oz chateaubriand with sides of chips, onion rings and steamed veg. The waiter was wonderful I wish I caught his name; he was fab with our boxer dog lots of fuss, bowl of water and a treat. Really made us feel relaxed yet we could enjoy the higher end setting of a lovely restaurant with amazing food. Whole experience was perfect. We will definitely come back and likely stay in the hotel in the future too. Thank you 😊

First visit here despite having visited the lakes a few times previously. Had a lovely evening meal, we shared the chateaubriand which comes which a choice of three sides and two sauces. We were both stuffed after it, the steak was beautiful. Special mention to one of the waiters, Dragos, who was so friendly, welcoming and chatty - he’s a credit to the restaurant.

Called here for dinner with friends one evening. A busy restaurant with a comfortable and relaxed feel. The menu has plenty of choices and options to cater to most tastes. The steaks were all cooked to perfection (fillet steak and a chateaubriand, both medium rare). What's not to love! The service was friendly and relaxed, and we didn't feel rushed at any point. Prices are reasonable. Booking is highly recommended. I would call here again. Recommended

The meal we had here was delicious, I had pre booked and let them know that one of us was gluten free. The only reason I can’t give 5 stars was because the only g/f option for dessert was ice cream which was disappointing. We were all there to celebrate our wedding anniversary and would have loved to have had dessert however we all left early and had to go elsewhere.

Came to the Brossen for an anniversary meal and had wanted a steak. It was worth the trip from Carlisle. There was a great atmosphere,with very friendly and helpful staff. The steaks were cooked to perfection and tasted delicious as did the sides that we ordered with them and the dessert was just as delicious. We will definitely be coming back again sometime.

A nice evening meal out. The decor and ambience of the restaurant was welcoming, light and open. You certainly felt like you were walking into a nice place. We were quickly escorted to our table and drinks ordered which came within 10 minutes. For starters we had ‘tempura’ sea food and chicken parfait. Unfortunately the batter was way to thick to be called tempura which was a shame because I ended up leaving over half the batter due to it being too thick and uncooked on the inside. I ended up taking out the shell fish. Which I will add. Was cooked beautifully. Very well cooked. Just a shame on the batter. The chicken parfait was very smooth and full of flavour with thick cut bread and sweet and tangy onion jam/marmalade. For mains we ordered 2x 10oz rib eye medium rare and 2 x 7oz fillet with 5 sides being 2 x chunky chips, ‘seasonal’ veg, onion rings (warning coming up) and creamed spinach. The steaks were delicious and cooked perfectly to our liking which were accompanied by a roasted tomato and shallot. The sauces again were very nice. Chunky chips were fluffy and crispy. The creamed spinach was amazing and had a nice thick layer of cheese on top. Now, the onion rings, came with a thin cheese (maybe Parmesan) sauce drizzled on top. Which wasn’t stated on the menu. Unfortunately my partner doesn’t like strong cheese so this was a big no for her. Big shame. The seasonal veg, isn’t what most would class as seasonal, more like steamed/boiled standard broccoli cauliflower carrots peas swimming in a shallow pool of water in the bottom of the cup. Overall, I would recommend and I would come again!

Aug bank holiday weekend. We found this place on the main square and managed to get a last minute booking. The food is excellent!👌

Great service, however the food wasn’t great. The food had two problems; first, his price is very expensive, for a plate of 4 small pieces and not tasty kebabs and not much more meat, the price was very high -75£, and a vegetarian burger-20£. The second problem was that the food wasn’t tasty. For my opinion to serve in this high quality of a restaurant a frozen vegetarian burger and to charge 20£ for it, is terrible. Although my bad opinion about the restaurant, I would like to mention the great waiters which showed great knowledge in the menu and were very nice to us. To sum up, I won’t return to this restaurant and I recommend to others to grab a 5£ burger at a fast food restaurant instead going in to this restaurant because it would be tastier and cheaper!

5/5 We booked in for a birthday, we ordered the chateau briand it was absolutely gorgeous melted in your mouth accompanied by some gorgeous tasty sides and sauces. The service was 10/10 the waiters were very attentive and made you laugh at the same time. Very hard to get good staff these days

Where to start? So food, it is simply delicious! Taste and texture of meat it just a perfection. If anybody like to eat a good beef burger or steak it is a right places to go in Keswick. I am 100% sure that it want be a disappointment. Service, another strong point of Brossen Steakhouse. Waitress are extremely friendly which helps bulid a good atmosphere for have a nice meal. Deserts, again big bravo for Chef. One of this place which you want to come back again.

The food is really great and highly recommended the chateaubriand. Only let down is the service. We expected more knowledgeable staff, and at times staff were oddly slightly rude or not well trained for finer dining.

Booked on reviews .... Unfortunately left feeling disappointed. Can't fault the waiting staff, apart from the barman ... I'd put him on suicide watch ... Another sufferer of hatemyjobitis. We ordered the middle eastern grill .... Nowt middle eastern about it. Roadkill with flatbread .... Avoid the dish. Well over a tonne lighter in the pocket, tourists are always gonna be fleeced, but come on, upper end pricing .... Deliver the goods. Wouldn't recommend, better places locally.

Lovely meal in a very nice restaurant. The steaks were a very good size, 10oz rather than the usual 8oz. Well cooked to order and good size sides too! Desserts were over priced for the size. The restaurant is situated at the back of the hotel, and is well decorated and kept. Some of the tables were a little closer together, so if you would like to talk to your partner without overhearing, ask for a table near the service pass.

We decided to book the steakhouse on the last day of our trip away and we were not disappointed! We both had the steak and it was some of the best steak we’ve had! Even the desserts were amazing! The staff were also super friendly which is a plus. Will definitely be back in future.

Another fantastic meal here! I visited by myself a few months ago and came back today with my sister. Incredible food, we had the chateaubriand served rare and it was perfection. The staff are attentive and the service is great. A really nice treat meal, we can recommend!

Cannot fault this place every time it gets better and the food is amazing

Excellent steak and service never disappoints. Shame one couple seemed intent on making a member of staffs life a nightmare (visited on Friday 30th June) - the staff member was there when we visited in September (a manager of some form?) and seemed pretty shaken by their horrible attitude. No need for it, these people aren’t paid to deal with our bad moods. Don’t miss out on this place when you’re in Keswick, the sharing steak can’t be beaten and the bar at the back is great for a relaxed drink during the day too.

Back Bar. I had the roast dinner. The meat was absolutely awful. Such poor quality. Tough as leather and full of fat. Clearly charge high prices and get lowest quality meat from their suppliers. I couldn't eat it. Service was pretty slow too. I won't be back.

Absolutely incredible experience, couldn’t fault the food and the staff were amazing too! So polite and friendly! They overheard it was my boyfriends birthday and surprised him with a desert and sung to him! Would highly recommend and will definitely be coming back next time I’m in the lakes!

Came for Sunday lunch, left feeling deflated, it was Easter Sunday but the lunch menu was very restricted. I usually love this restaurant and the choice, but today, the starter was tiny, the beef was tough, roast potatoes were just potatoes put in an oven for a bit of colour, the Yorkshire puds were cold and crispy. Veg was the highlight and that says a lot, Didn't stay for dessert as the staff were disinterested. Pleasant enough but not wanting to be there. Very expensive for what we got, didn't make a complaint as pointless, not saying I won't go back, I just won't go for Sunday lunch.

Service is really good, as is the setting but unfortunately let down by the food. Overpriced hotel food. We didn’t opt for steaks and perhaps this was our downfall. I ordered the buttermilk chicken burger but this wasn’t cooked fresh and I’m pretty sure was just a frozen ready-made item. At £21 I expect far better. Again, my girlfriends was very poor. Would definitely not recommend - The Round opposite is far better and I’m sure you’d also get a quality steak for a lot less elsewhere too.

Had lunch here today , it looked very good and reviews seemed to back it up, however I can honestly say the food quality was below average. We had a roast dinner with roast beef which was awful, the beef was extremely tough and most of the veg was under cooked, for £23 each we were expecting a very good quality main. Kids cheese sandwich was suppose to come with Fries and Veg sticks, instead just came with a small handful of tortilla chips not great for nearly £7 Would suggest improving the quality of the food and ensure you’re serving what is displayed on the menu. However rated 3 stars for this experience because firstly; I ordered the bbq pulled burger but it came without the stated panko crusted onion rings and the bun brioche not pretzel as stated. I'm disappointed with a quality of food for such a high price. It was nice but very average. We ordered medium rare stakes but they looked medium well and too chewy.
