We have been coming here since they first opened and we have never been let down. The food is great, fresh and quality is consistent. Kids love it and it's dog friendly. I've recommended Diggle Lock to lots of people.

Great location and wonderful food, well worth the 60+ mile trip from Southport. After the meal we had a pleasant walk along the canal, relaxing afternoon.

Great location and friendly staff. Our breakfast took a while to come out but was worth the wait. Would thoroughly recommend the smashed avocado and eggs

Had the best latte ever & a lovely slice of cake, bought milk, local honey & a sourdough loaf and charged a mobile & powerbank. Brilliant service, great produce & a lovely ambiance. What's not to like? Highly recommended.

Such a lovely little place in a beautiful setting. Food was delicious and it’s dog friendly too. They even have doggie sausages. The staff are absolutely lovely and can’t do enough for you. We’ll definitely be back!

Fantastic Sunday Lunch . Prawn starter and Roast Beef main with a side of Cauli Cheese and no faults whatsosever - perfectly cooked and really decent portions. Brilliant vibrant atmosphere and top class service. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a Sunday lunch - and ideally placed to have a canal side walk to build up the appetite beforehand! Definitely will be coming back

Great food, great ambience, great service. Always freshly made and service with a smile, nothing is too much trouble and you can have a lovely walk along the canal to get to it.

visited Diggle Lock yesterday for breakfast and had a lovely time. The atmosphere was nice and the staff were very friendly and helpful. My only complaint was that the service was slow, as I waited for 45 minutes for my food. However, the food itself was alright, so I would still recommend this restaurant.

Was recommended this place, The service is far to slow for simple food and the food was only ok. We were advised of a 30 minute wait on food which we said was fine, however overall it was more like an hour wait, even the drinks took around 15 minutes to arrive which was also wrong. When it did arrive it was ok but not great especially for the price, we also asked for some mayonnaise as no condiments are on the table for some reason but this was forgot and never arrived, simple things that make the difference. Agree with other reviews, either they need more kitchen staff or reduce customers to provide a better service.

Our first visit and we were pleasantly surprised. Lots of tables inside and out, nice decor and very clean. The person waiting on tables, etc was very well organised and efficient. We had a short wait for food but when it is this good, it is worthwhile. We were pleased to see some different choices on the menu, the Persian eggs were very good, our only criticism is the sourdough bread that seems to be everywhere these days. So hard and rubbery, it is a chore to try to eat and even worse when toasted! An alternative bread would be great. We intend to return soon to try something from the lunch menu.

Our favourite place for lunch. On a nice weekend we like to walk along the canal and have a lunch at the Diggle Lock. Always great food and good value. It is a large place now that they expanded with a small kitchen but we never waited too long. One of the best places for lunch in Saddleworth for me.

My daughter suggested this restaurant and it was a good visit. The food was very good, although it did take a while to arrive and I’ll ask for a hotter coffee next time. We sat outside and were quite surprised at the pleasant atmosphere when we consider the setting of the restaurant in an old working mill. We’ll go again.

Joined Diggle Lock for Taste of the Far East supper club. Having enjoyed many daytime visits we thought we’d try this evening event and it didn’t disappoint. Really great food, attentive service and a welcoming atmosphere. Thank you! 😊

Food is lovely but the wait is far too long! There is not a new issue and have been in a few times and have had the same thing. Food took over an hour to arrive, there were only 4 of us and it was nothing complicated. There were supposed to be 6 of us but 2 people dropped out as they decided before we even went in the wait would be too long. It is such a shame as this is a lovely place but really if they cannot cater for the numbers don't take the booking. I personally will not go again.

We booked a table for brunch during half term, as a group of three adults. Lovely place, great menu and the service was excellent. Between us we ordered the eggs bene and the Persian eggs with chorizo, the food was very nice, as were the smoothies and coffee. Reasonably priced, would recommend.

I have visited Diggle Lock many times for breakfast, lunch and brunch. It is dog friendly and a great stop point if you are having a walk along the canal. There is a large car park so easy to drive to and park if you don't fancy the walk. There is outdoor seating for when the weather is nice and it has a great atmosphere with friendly staff. There are lots of fantastic choices on the menu and today we both ordered the club sandwich which was so tasty, bonus points for the garlic and parmesan fries. The service can sometimes be a little slow but the food is obviously freshly prepared and it's not meant to be a fast food place.

Had a great breakfast/brunch after a slight detour from the Pennine Way. Friendly staff and food was great. The full English breakfast was quite a lot, did not need lunch or snacks the whole rest of the day!

We booked a table for 12pm, waitress took our order within 15 minutes. She told us the wait on food was 30 minutes, not too much of a wait and was bank holiday so we thought that was reasonable. It took 30 minutes to just receive our drinks! Which was only 3 cans of Diet Coke and a Latte! We received our food after 1 hour and 15 minute wait! No one came to apologise, we had to go to the staff and ask how long the food would be on a number of occasions and kept being told “it’s the next one to come out” which it wasn’t! When the food did come it was lukewarm which suggests it has been sat on the pass for a while. Poor organisation for a bank holiday. If demand cannot be met for a busy bank holiday then I’d maybe suggest next time either only allowing half the amount of people in, or not opening at all. Very disappointing as the kids were really looking forward to eating there from the pictures on social media. Such a shame.

The Park is a good place to eat. The food is lovely and the potions are more than generous. The owners and staff make this eatery very special. They are attentive, informative and overall just genuinely kind caring people. It will be my go to venue when dining out. You really need to give this pub a go. 10 out of 10 for me.

It was our first visit, for my birthday. Set menu great value, the dishes were delicious and beautifully presented. I'm coeliac, very happy with my choices plus the bread that came with it. Enjoyed the wines and choices of ales for hubby (the gf beer option was Peroni so gave that a miss). Nice friendly ambience created by staff and fellow diners. The 184 bus is very handy for the inn, we came over the hills from Marsden and didn't want to drive.

I recently visited The Old Original for a lovely Sunday meal, and I couldn't have been more pleased with the experience. My partner opted for the Sunday roast, and the roast beef was cooked to perfection — tender and full of flavor, without being pink. I went for the rag pudding with chips and mushy peas, and I must say, the peas were absolutely delicious! (as was the homemade chips and rag pudding). The gravy had a rich, meaty flavor that really enhanced the meal, not bland like some places can be. Plus, the portion sizes were generous, and everything was piping hot when served. The service was excellent, with friendly and efficient staff making sure we had everything we needed. I chose from the fixed menu, and ended the meal with a lovely slice of chocolate fudge cake for dessert, which was a real treat! The prices were very reasonable for the quality of food and service we received. The pub has a warm, inviting atmosphere, complete with a candle on the table, and the rural setting with its lovely views makes it a perfect place to unwind. While the car park is a little on the small side, street parking is available, so it’s not too much of an issue. All in all, I would highly recommend this pub. The food, service, and overall experience were top-notch, and I can’t wait to return soon!
