The best restaurants serving British food in Redbridge London

We went out as a family after a long time at this particular M&C after experiencing a very bad lunch a year ago but seems like things haven’t changed! A few of us ordered the calamari for starters which was cut into such small pieces and covered in thick batter that you could not taste the calamari at all! I had the pork belly for starters which was more belly than pork, disgusting! Four of us ordered the cod for mains, this came with the plate half covered in baby potatoes and the other half in sweet potatoes with 2-3 leaves of spinach and a thumb size piece of cod which was finished in three goes!!! Just a full plate of potatoes! A few then ordered the sticky toffee pudding for dessert and we were told that it was finished and so was the meringue yet it was barely 9.30 in the evening! Ended having ice cream! A very disappointing and expensive evening resulting in us going home hungry!! Never again!

I loved the atmosphere of the place everyone was very happy it reminded me of native Sri Lanka like back home. The food could be tailored more towards the asian community but overall a good imitation of the sri lankan cuisine.

I can't fault the food, it's delicious. The customer service from the older gentleman needs to improve, no smile nothing. I feel intimidated when I go in. If I ask for small cod, I get told only medium or large. This happened a few times. Can you not cook a small cod? I've had surgery so it's difficult for me to finish a medium/large cod. I feel bad throwing it away considering the price I just paid. Also if you want chicken they say they only have the breast peice. The breast meat is naturally a dry meat so it's not something I prefer. Bittersweet review.

This has been closed for about a year, doing a refurb. but taking ages to do this, not sure what it will be when eventually finished

Really good fish and chip shop. The fish is nice, I usually have the plaice. The burgers are really good. They do lovely chips too, and their chicken wings are very tasty. Gets really busy at weekends so you're always better off calling ahead for your order, otherwise you could be standing around in the shop for a long time as they also get a lot of delivery orders coming in.

I do love having my lunch here. Even on my own, it's very cosy. Shame it's closed for refurbishment.

As soon as we walked in we were welcomed by the barman. Very friendly staff and good atmosphere. All the football games were on the tele so made the lads happy. Food was good and we all enjoyed.

Take a picnic, no toilets available no where to wash your hands before you eat, ice cream prices are shocking almost a fiver for a double scoop

Genuinely thrilled to hear that the George is now closed as a Wetherspoon and will be returning as an independent pub. Fingers crossed this marks a significant improvement! I'm eager to see what the new owners bring to the table and hope they can restore The George to its former glory.

Great value for drinks and food. Lovely staff and serve had to wait a little while but it was busy. Atmosphere was calm and friendly.

Four of us met up for dinner all four meals where delicious no complaints waiting staff absolute fantastic couldnt do enough for us my only gripe small children running around at 100 mph ( bad parenting ) its a a accident waiting to happen it can be fixed tell the parents control your kids or go somewhere else simple as that there is hot food coming out of the kitchen all the time
