Great place to eat and socialise.

"I visited Toby on Sunday for a meal after making an appointment. When we arrived, there were no lamb dishes available, no green beans, and the place looked very messy. There was a Black man in his late 30s serving us, and he seemed fed up with his job and wanted to go home. I miss the good service I used to receive at Toby. The service and food quality are not good anymore." Even the white woman at the reception refused to let me sit next to the window. When they close the shop, it seems they are short-staffed. She was very lazy and rude to us."

We visited Toby Carvery – Woodford for breakfast and were thoroughly disappointed. The breakfast buffet was severely lacking — there were no baked beans, eggs, bacon, or mushrooms available, which are basic expectations for a cooked breakfast. Additionally, we were charged £7 for two orange juices, which turned out to be diluted squash rather than actual juice. Overall, the experience was very poor and not worth the cost. We do not plan to return.

Excellent service great food well worth a visit.

I had just taken my cat to the PDSA nearby and whilst waiting for my bus I stopped to get a drink. James served me and he was so friendly, helpful and nice when I enquired if I could go through to the garden with my cat. He went out of his way to find something for my cat to drink some water from and was more than helpful when I asked if rather than go to the ladies toilet I could use the accesible one. Excellent customer service skills and after what had been a worrying time for me and my cat being distressed made me feel at ease and comfortable which in turn so did my baby cat so a big thank you to him A lovley relaxing friendly pub and great staff.

Excellent food and service BUT deeply immoral car parking procedures. Was slapped with a £100 parking fine, apparently I had to register my car on a console in the restaurant but no staff directed me to this, and the car park was very quiet. What's the point in this procedure?? If the car park is free to use for customers, why are fines issued for not registering vehicles? Scummy behaviour. A full refund for the parking charge would be appreciated.

Our lovely lady called Jill who served us was excellent and friendly, she could not do wrong,we were a large table of 12 and she was excellent, food good to.

I went here with my family (6 people in all) and we asked for the carvery. We went up when told to do so by our waiter and then waited at the carvery station. We then waited there for 12 minutes while the chef came out 4 times walked past us without a word and moved some bowls around. There was empty lamb bones on the carvery station. I went and fetched someone to ask if the chef could come out and I was told he will be ready in a minute and the staff member then walked off. When the chef eventually came out to carve he was miserable and not at all friendly. The rest of the food was edible mostly. The peas were dry to the bone and the Yorkshire were mostly just air and grease. The refil soft drink machine was not working well and well told to ask at the bar but ever time we did the staff acted as if we had personally upset them. We ordered pudding. The children's pudding (ice cream) was lovely. However the adult pudding sticky toffee pudding was a muffin in custard. We mentioned this to a manager at the end and he said it is a bank holiday and we came in at five (booked the table) so there was some change over at the carvery and did we want some more.

It's not easy to manage a booking for 20 people, but our lovely waitress Deesha took it all in her stride. She could not have been more lovely or more helpful. The food was good, the service excellent. I don't think you can get better value. Deesha is the biggest asset at Toby Carvery Woodford! Huge thank you, once again.

Had a lovely meal with family and friends. It was lovely to all be able to come together to celebrate my birthday - there were 20 of us in total. Our waitress Deesha was AMAZING - she was polite, helpful, checked-in to ensure everything was ok, sang Happy Birthday and came out with the cake, a knife and serviettes and plates/spoons for us - Deesha went above and beyond to ensure everyone was ok and to ensure that even the fussy ones were ok. The new refurb makes the venue look bright and inviting and it was lovely to come back here.

The carvery is a five-minute walk from Snaresbrook Underground Station. The venue is large and features a warm, homely decor and atmosphere. It is popular and busy, so reservations for dining are recommended. We had a short wait for our table, during which the staff were very hospitable. While we waited, we enjoyed some drinks that were reasonably priced. We ordered starters, which arrived after five minutes, and then proceeded to queue up for the carvery options. There is a good selection of meat and vegetables available. The food is very filling and enjoyable, with the Yorkshire puddings in particular being excellent. The cost of the meal offers excellent value, and combined with the nice atmosphere, it highlights the superb experience. This is an exceptionally good value dining experience for everyone to enjoy. Highly recommended.

Portions are a bit small. Otherwise, great place

My wife and I stopped off here for something to eat as part of a coach trip down to London, and the coach company could not have chosen a better eatery for our lunch. The place looked wonderful, and I believe that it has just been refurbished, so they made a brilliant job of making it look inviting. The coach party were in a room just behind the carvery, so prime position to get our meals. The room that we were allocated had plenty of space, which is quite unusual in these venues, where normally they will try to squeeze a pint into a half pint pot. Everywhere looked spick and span, and the staff were professional and made sure that we were well looked after. Now we’ve got a Toby Carvery that we use quite often in Leicester, but I don’t ever remember their being quite such a choice of meat at ours. Not only did the joints look amazing, but all of the vegetables looked well cooked and well presented. Everything was hot and tasted wonderful. I would have no hesitation in recommending this restaurant as a go to place for a carvery.

5* service and 5* food to go with it took my family here last night and all thoroughly enjoyed our time special thanks to Conor.

Waitress very helpful. Explaining to us we can’t use different coupons together and then calculate which coupon to use could save more. Amazing!

Maybe it's better at the weekend but the vegetable selection midweek was poor as a non meat eater I was looking forward to the array of veg but it was horrible - no greens even!

the food was poor Roast potatoes were burnt could not be eaten Yorkshire pudding was rock hard could not be eaten mash lumpy very poor meal all together will not be buying from there again very poor food quality inedible wasted my money over £16.00 worth of nothing shameful

Prices for a carvery go up and down. I don't see the point because it put me off buying for months. Anyhow my carvery arrived with gravy open and spilled everywhere inside the bag so I had no gravy. Poor delivery! Not impressed!

This is our second visit now and we have been served both times by a lovely waitress called Maddie. Her service is outstanding and she is very attentive of customer needs and ensuring that you are happy with your visit. The food was amazing as always, however as I previously stated.. Maddie made the Toby Carvery Experience a joy and we will definitely be returning!

Very nice place to eat especially breakfast. Enjoyed thoroughly. Friendly, helpful. Lewis charged my phone as I didn’t have a charger with me and battery on low. My car was in for a service until 3.00pm so I needed to use it soon. I appreciated his help and was happy to write the review for Woodford branch of Toby.J

pork had traces of pink which it is not cooked well, lack of vegetables, poor squashed Yorkshire pudding, lack of gravy and meat. I'm not very happy as same as my partner is not happy about at all.

Food was of poor quality and cold! Beef was pure fat and potato was hard! Peas were brown! Never again

Deesha was our waitress today, she was brilliant. As I'm dairy intolerant she was checking and double checking everything for me, she was backwards and forwards constantly, the food was lovely will definitely recommend and will be going back

what a lovely meal I ordered for my stepfather and mum on his 80th birthday, they are both now not very able to get out and about so it was lovely that they could have a fantastic meal at home. Thank you

The worst experience ever !!!! February 2025 The worst experience ever. Tuesday afternoon very quite Waited for 15 mins to get gravy? And another 7 mins to get a measly portion of apple sauce? All the veg and potatoes were cold? Then waited 12 mins for a desert? Luckily I ordered the bill at the same time as the desert. Absolutely disgusting food and service. Would not recommend to an enemy steer clear.

The restaurant was so clean and airy. The customer service from the start was fantastic. I wish I had asked for names, but all the staff were really friendly. The man at reception was very polite and gave us seats near the bar while we waited to be seated, which only took 6 mins. The food was also lovely, just how a carvery should be. As a family of 6 we really enjoyed our Sunday afternoon at Woodford carvery. I also made a request when booking, to be seated on padded chairs and they upheld my request, so we were seated on a table for 6 people with some padded seating. Thank you to all the staff at Woodford Carvery!

Low quality for the money. I asked for no stuffing but still got stuffing and a small portion of meat with way too much mashed potato. Peas were overcooked. Not worth the money.

Me and my friends come here at least once a week and we love it. It's even better since the recent refurbishment. Joe and his team are just fantastic and very accommodating to us. A big thanks to him, our sever Jill and carvery chef Louise in particular. We all had a really good chat during the 3 or so hours we were there. The pub looks beautiful and the food is really good.

Beautifully refurbished carvery. Friendly attentive staff namely Jill, Donna and chefs Louise and Alex. On arrival we were greeted by The manager Joe and his fantastic staff, all of which are an asset to the company. Food was hot, cooked to perfection as always, plentiful and so very tasty. Love this place and everything about it.

First time we visited since 2022 as our experiance was dreadful then we thought we would give it a second chance this time welcomed front of house as soon as we got throught the door taken to our table drinks order taken straight away food was lovely better choice than last time guy carving was friendly and welcoming as was the rest of the staff they looked happy and no one slacking unlike last visit so we will be visiting again .

Haven't been here for quite a while so was very impressed with the look of the place ..bright modern and very clean..lots of choices of meat and veg all fresh and cooked well ..between the six of us pretty much everything on offer was sampled with all getting a great review..maybe the cauliflower cheese could of been done a bit more and been more cheesy..apart from that everyone had a lovely meal ..would definitely recommend and will most certainly be back

DONT ORDER ONLINE THEY WILL GIVE YOU LEFT OVERS. ORDERED BREAKFAST WAITED NERALY AN HOUR WHEN THEIR SERVICE ENDED AND THEY SENT ME LITERALLY SCRAPS THAT COULDNT MAKE A FULL BREAKFAST. Recently refurbished (Woodford Green) and looking very smart. Our server Jill is excellent and always gives a great and friendly service. A credit to your restaurant.

Really nice food and service. Renovation has brightened up the inside and made it more modern. Carvery is good value but feel the £4.25 for refillable soft drinks is too much.

A 7/10 which is a lower score than usual by me. It's great to see Woodford Green open again after its extensive refurbishment, and very welcoming it is too. Great to see the familiar faces of the stagg who never fail to provide outstanding service. It was great to see it so busy with queues for the carvery. The meat was of good quality but sadly the veg was not. I found the veg to be a little dried up and cold. Even stirring it to refresh it didn't work. Considering how busy it was it should have been fresher. The gravy too was too watery and not possessing its usual TOBY taste. Let's put it down to teething troubles! However, this will not deter us form going again, and soon!!

No roast potatoes sent with my order from Toby carvery. I have spoken to them they said I would get a refunded. Thank refund

Went here for Xmas just gone spent over £200, they overbooked massively and really understafffed, my table was for 4:20 had a 40min wait and had to wait by the bar with another 30+ people who was also waiting to be seated, the bar was closed couldn’t get a drink for my 2year old for over an hour they was only serving once seated, got seated by the entrance door which was swamped with more people waiting to been seen to and seated, the door was constantly open so it was freezing on my table and absolutely stunk of cigarettes and baccy, food was disgusting the only bit of flavour was the stuffing! I’ve been to many toby carvery’s but this one tops it, awful never again!

Amazing, we'd booked for 12.30pm, on Christmas Eve. We were surprised, when we walked in, at a bit before 12.30pm, there were a few groups/individuals there, but not packed out. There was a party of 8 of us, including an almost teenager, 2 teenagers, and 5 adults. Our server was Tamar, who was kept busy, however she came over a few times. I hate the OTT customer service at some places where they come over every quarter of an hour or so to check on you and interfere with your dining experience. This is NOT one of those places. To me Toby Carvery is always a winner, nice meats, help yourself to veg. Get a king-size plate for an extra £1.99, lovely. Conor the Bar Manager was also good. I do feel sorry for the Chef though, who said tomorrow (Christmas Day), he's having to cook about 1000 Christmas Dinners! Thankyou for helping to make it a good day, and a good early Christmas Day.

Lovely food. Slightly dark in there and also the chef was irritable but the waitresses are lovely.

Food was not over cooked we cleared our plates, staff very friendly made you feel welcome only down side was that the decor was dowdy But i was told it having a refurbishment in January.

We attended for my mum's 94th birthday get together. The staff were polite, helpful and even dealt with a couple of good/drink spillages that happened without any fuss. Lovely people especially our server Jilly. Thank you.

We had a wonderful experience at Toby Carvery. They serve excellent roast dinners with all the trimmings, including fresh vegetables, roast potatoes, mashed potatoes, and crispy Yorkshire pudding. The prices are reasonable, and there is a good selection of desserts available. The service is exceptional, and they often have promotions with 50% off main courses.

They phoned me to tell me they didn't have the Caramelised Onion & Shallot Tart so I had a desert instead. Lots of meat and great cauliflower cheese.

Roast potatoes warm, parsnips overcooked and burnt, both inedible,mashed potato very lumpy. overall just warm, said no Yorkshire but still got one. Worst meal I've had from Toby.

Good but less meat than I got the first time which was only 2 days after my first order.
