Went to Toby Carvery Woodford with my best friend for a catch up. We had a table booked for 2 o clock. I was slightly disappointed on this visit as the food was dry and the vegetables hadn’t been replenished. Never experienced this before and we always book at 2 at Woodford as Snaresbrook is always too crowded. Great service by Maddie though. She bought our drinks, dessert menu, desserts and bill promptly and was able to inform us on the seasonal sponge and crumble available. Asked Jill for a dessert menu as she was passing and was waiting ages and still did not receive it.

Went here for Xmas just gone spent over £200, they overbooked massively and really understafffed, my table was for 4:20 had a 40min wait and had to wait by the bar with another 30+ people who was also waiting to be seated, the bar was closed couldn’t get a drink for my 2year old for over an hour they was only serving once seated, got seated by the entrance door which was swamped with more people waiting to been seen to and seated, the door was constantly open so it was freezing on my table and absolutely stunk of cigarettes and baccy, food was disgusting the only bit of flavour was the stuffing! I’ve been to many toby carvery’s but this one tops it, awful never again!

Amazing, we'd booked for 12.30pm, on Christmas Eve. We were surprised, when we walked in, at a bit before 12.30pm, there were a few groups/individuals there, but not packed out. There was a party of 8 of us, including an almost teenager, 2 teenagers, and 5 adults. Our server was Tamar, who was kept busy, however she came over a few times. I hate the OTT customer service at some places where they come over every quarter of an hour or so to check on you and interfere with your dining experience. This is NOT one of those places. To me Toby Carvery is always a winner, nice meats, help yourself to veg. Get a king-size plate for an extra £1.99, lovely. Conor the Bar Manager was also good. I do feel sorry for the Chef though, who said tomorrow (Christmas Day), he's having to cook about 1000 Christmas Dinners! Thankyou for helping to make it a good day, and a good early Christmas Day.

Lovely food. Slightly dark in there and also the chef was irritable but the waitresses are lovely.

We really enjoy our visits to Toby, and often go as everything is just great at Toby, Woodford. Last night was extremely quiet, which surprised us but as per usual we were made to feel very welcome and our custom appreciated. We always arrive early for a beer before dinner and the quality of the pints in your bar are very good. The food was hot and a great range of vegetables available. Nothing seemed too much trouble for the staff to ensure our meal and overall experience was excellent and memorable for all the right reasons.

Food was not over cooked we cleared our plates, staff very friendly made you feel welcome only down side was that the decor was dowdy But i was told it having a refurbishment in January.

7 adults. Roast dinner lunch. Drinks (non-alcoholic) all for around £9 pp (with discount voucher). What more is there to say? Food fine. Never going to win awards but perfectly edible. Staff were pleasant. My first time in a Toby carvery for about 30 yrs. It was a lot better than I remembered!

All the staff were helpful and kind. The food was all hot and fresh. Nothing was to much trouble. We came to celebrate a birthday. The staff were quick to take our orders for drinks.

We attended for my mum's 94th birthday get together. The staff were polite, helpful and even dealt with a couple of good/drink spillages that happened without any fuss. Lovely people especially our server Jilly. Thank you.

We had a wonderful experience at Toby Carvery. They serve excellent roast dinners with all the trimmings, including fresh vegetables, roast potatoes, mashed potatoes, and crispy Yorkshire pudding. The prices are reasonable, and there is a good selection of desserts available. The service is exceptional, and they often have promotions with 50% off main courses.

Good but less meat than I got the first time which was only 2 days after my first order.

They phoned me to tell me they didn't have the Caramelised Onion & Shallot Tart so I had a desert instead. Lots of meat and great cauliflower cheese.

Roast potatoes warm, parsnips overcooked and burnt, both inedible,mashed potato very lumpy. overall just warm, said no Yorkshire but still got one. Worst meal I've had from Toby.

The indicated delivery time was changed THREE times after payment taken. Food was cold & less than previously.

Decent carvery, had they beef because I don't buy for myself often. It was pretty good. Fair price, decent service. Treated my wife's cousin who was visiting from overseas who enjoyed.

6 of us went to woodford carvery today and waited and waited for the meat to be cut for us all..why because they were to busy seeing to takeaway orders .so a long queue im 76 and gave up and went back to table and waited for queue to go down..also food had spilled out of the veg dishes where you serve yourself..and stuffing was horrendous and stuck to the spoon...not as good as other carveries...stop or do something with the takeaway orders ...not fair on people who have booked a table..

I was served a delicious Sunday roast with a great variety of meats, vegetables, and sides, which was enjoyed by myself and my family. However, the cleanliness could use attention, especially during busy times, to make the dining experience more comfortable and enjoyable

My first time at Toby Carvery and I was not disappointed. The price is extremely reasonable and the servings were huge. Well, you can have as much side dishes as you like. My plate will full. The restaurant was clean and the service was good. Would definitely recommend 5 minutes after posting this review, I went to the Ladies and unfortunately what I saw was utter disgusting. The toilets do not appear to be cleaned regularly and I literally wanted to throw up. This is such a shame because the meal was good. I’ve changed the overall score from a 5 to a 3.

AVOID AT ALL COST !!! So disappointing, went with my Family for Sunday breakfast, Came just after the place opened, even asked the waiter why is so quiet and he said we just opened. All Food was COLD , EGGS BLACK BURNED, even the beans and tomato's were barley warm. Black pudding hard and cold , I asked waiter if there is more food coming as there was not much there and it all was cold , so he said, YES ofcourse. We waited for over hour , 4 cold burnt sausages still sitting there , no fresh or hot food was added So disappointing paid £35 and left hungry . Only thing I ate was jam on toast , so did my daughters. My husband didn't touch any food and asked for a refund got Hand full of very small coins ,no one said sorry , so unprofessional. Defenetly never coming back there .

Had a lovely night at Woodford the other night, all thanks to Louis really made our night after a get together after so long, spoke about the refurbishment you were getting in January, no better place that deserves a touch up and abit of love. staff always so lovely too. The food wasn’t at all nice, lot of it was uncooked but the service we got from one of the nicest waiters made up for it, Louis. Such a pleasant and lovely guy saved the day!

As being regular visitors we have noticed changes and we observe that the quality of the meet has greatly improved . 6 months ago the beef it was inedible being thick with gristle. It was noted with great relief yesterday that there was hardly any gristle . Well done.

asked for nomash we don't eat it half container was mash asked for portion of dulphanoise instead did not get it asked for a lot of gravy didn't get it so I had to make more gravy need more choice of veg not just peas and carrots ,chunk of gristle on the gammon not appetising at all roasted look like they was lunch time leftovers and the yorkshires Rubery and greasy so they went out for the foxes, pity staff does not read what we would like and not like apart from that it tasted nice .

Very slow service. Food at carvery was not warm enough, well below legal limit I'm afraid. Ordered a meal from menu which took 45 minutes and a couple of reminders to arrive and immediately sent back and cancelled as not cooked and lukecwarm. Will not be going back to that one again.

I phoned the carvery and told them I don't have cauliflower cheese and they were going to give me cabbage instead plus I said no Yorkshire pudding. My order has arrived and contains cauliflower cheese & a Yorkshire pudding no cabbage, so can't eat my meal because of the cheese, what a complete waste of money and no lunch today.

I wish they would get an order right! I ordered Kingsize but received a normal size! They did however not add beans like I requested so happy about that they still sent in tubs even though I said not required but at least not all over the food.

Overall, it was an okay experience. The vibe was cosy and family-friendly, and the waitress was very accommodating and helpful. Unfortunately, the Sunday carvery was mostly dry and lacked flavour. I judge a roast primarily on how well done its potatoes are, and these ones were undercooked and more boiled than roasted.

Love this carvery. Staff at this place are all so nice and nothing is too much. Our waitress was Deesha (not sure on spelling) My mum ordered a vegetarian menu and was concerned about the veg being near the meat (its not but she worries about that) so they bought out steamed veg from the kitchen to go with her vegetarian pie. Considering this is a buffet restaurant they were very kind to bring it all out to her including gravy. The rest of us had the meat carvery which was very nice with a great choice of meats and vegetables. My 6 year old is obsessed with the refillable drinks machine and they don't mind him having a squirt of one of each drink in one glass (he's making his potion drink :) Desserts were also very nice with good range/choice. Just overall great atmosphere, restaurant is nice bright and clean. Staff all very cheery and nice people. Would 10/10 recommend.

I arrived at the venue without a booking. I was immediately told that there could be problems with seating, however, when we were seated the place was only getting emptier. The waitress was not nice, After I cancelled my roast order because I wasn't hungry she kept returning and verbally forcing us to order when I wasn't hungry. The kids menu food wasn't plated as displayed on the menu. There seemed to be a big problem to order a small bowl of chips, something that is normal in most diners. Just before paying she was trying to be nice, but this manipulative behaviour wouldn't pass.

Grim place. Rude waitress, awful policies (such as not being able to share a carvery meal). My friends had eaten a large meal for breakfast and didn't want much to eat. We were planning to share a plate of carvery dinner and it was not allowed. We asked if we could just order some sides like chips, but they don't do that on Sundays. Okay... can we just order some kids menu items? No. Not allowed. In the end we cancelled all our carveries and had ice cream sundaes, ironically costing them about £30 of business. The sundae was about on par with a mcflurry. It's no wonder we didn't have trouble finding a table at 2pm on a Sunday without a reservation.

Lots of empty tables but got told they could not serve us as a steamer had broken! But other people who had booked online could be seated & served very poor!!

We called in whilst passing through Woodford, and found a pleasant surprise, a homely atmosphere, snug feeling, the Young man James who served us and showed us to our table was pleasant, confident and very much at ease, when collecting the food Louise the chef was terrific, carving the meats to our satisfaction, smiling and friendly, altogether an excellent experience, we will now call in again, well done , you did Toby proud

I usually go to the Snaresbrook one but went to this one for some reason. I prefer Snaresbrook. Food isn't as good at Woodford. It's cooked better at Snaresbrook. Dry roast potatoes aswell. They're supposed to be in beef dripping but barely had any on them. The blonde lady server at the food was really nice. The guy on the front was ignorant. He ignored me when I said hello and was leant over on the tablet thing. Then he spoke to another member of staff who came over a few seconds later, but I thought he was saying hi to me, so I said hi, I've booked a table. He then ignored me again and carried on talking to the other member. Then, when the other staff member left , he decided it was my turn to have his attention. The girl that was attending to us was alright, no complaints about her.

Disha was very friendly and always checking that everything was okay .

We had another great visit to the Toby in Woodford today (07/09/24). As always the staff are really friendly (particularly Jill who we have built a lovely relationship with over the years who is exceptional with her kind and caring customer service) and great food served by the lovely friendly chef. Always a pleasure to visit, look forward to next time!

Went for lunch midweek. Very quiet in the restaurant, but staff lovely and kind. Food standard toby, but lovely as always. Quick service and nice food at a decent price. Can't get better than that!

I regularly come here for lunch with a couple of friends and the food and service is always very good. A particular thanks to our server, Jill, and carvery chef, Louise, who are always friendly, chatty, and accommodating.

Friendly attentive staff namely Jill, Donna and chef Louise. Food was hot, cooked to perfection, plentiful and so very tasty. This is now our favourite place to eat.

Myself and family visited here yesterday and was firstly greeted by a very nice young lady at the door and a gentlemen. Both were extremely polite and courteous. We were shown to our booth and then assisted by a young waitress called Maddie! Wow, what a lovely individual!! Maddie was so attentive to all members of my family, especially my 4 year old daughter. Maddie assisted us with everything we needed and more. Thank you Maddie for a wonderful experience!!

I will never go to this carvery ever again..food was disgusting,hard carrots hard turnip hard mash lumpy gravy,hard coliflower dried out mac n cheese.when I asked for the bill they tried to charge me for food I didn’t eat when I complained to waitress she didn’t even grunt at me so I refused to pay.best thing about this meal was my Diet Coke..never again staff were not welcoming at all were quite rude tbh.never again..I will stick to the best carvery around…BUCKHURST HILL!!

I've been here many times and aways friendly and attentive waitresses. Very good food especially lamb at weekends. Apple pie with custard is extremely good.

The carvery at this Toby is very nice, the food is always really tasty, there’s always a warm welcome from the staff, the atmosphere is good, every time we come into the restaurant it’s quite busy, and a busy restaurant means a good restaurant. The staff are very nice especially Jill who serves us quite a lot, she is interested in her customers, remembers things about her customers and is a really good member of the team

Good experience. Locally the best Toby I've been to. Staff deserve 5 stars alone. Chef really friendly, Donna very friendly, efficient.

For a first visit I would not return, options were very limited, you'd think they were getting ready to close not still open for another 1.5/2 hours. If an establishment feels options are poor as its past 8 o clock anyone wanting a carvery should be told to look at the options before sitting down ordering drinks and then having to get up and leave immediately as the food choices were not much at all. If I'm paying full price, I'd expect a decent amount of what I'm paying for to be available. Then pay for our drinks that we would not have ordered if we knew we weren't going to eat and go elsewhere.

Good Sunday Roast. We both had the large plate with all meats: turkey, gammon, roast pork and beef. The crackling was super crunchy (+salty) and sides were delicious too. Staff were super friendly and helpful. Would be back again. All in all this was good value for money and we were stuffed!

The meal arrived cold and in a bowl resembling left over that you’d give to a dog. The extra baked potatoes arrived in a bag, 4 small pieces of potato’s burnt and dry, inedible. A total waste of money. I will never order from them again. Horrible experience.

I've been in a few tobys and I must say this was definitely not one of the best it was extremely empty and the food look like it had been left out quite some time the decks hadn't been cleared away and brought out fresh everything was quite cold I was going to complain at the time but I had a very long day and just needed to get back home
