Good as always in the last year's time.

I had the absolute worst experience at this Wetherspoons, though I was warned, but went anyway for an elders birthday as he's a big fan of "The Spoons". I ordered pasta Alfredo, expecting a comforting dish, but what arrived was far from edible. The sauce was barely there, and totally lacking in flavor—more like a sad attempt at pasta than anything close to Alfredo. You can see from the photo just how dry and unappetizing it looked, couldn't eat it. I also ordered fish and chips, and while the fish itself was okay, they served it with exactly seven fries and some peas. If this is their idea of a meal, I’d hate to see what their idea of a joke is! Save your time, money, and appetite—go literally anywhere else. First and last time going to "The Spoons".

I didn't have food this time but I have had food before it was nice

Are you the restaurant using tradeteam to pick up metal barrels at 6 in the moring? Who ever made this decision Are you crazy ? Making such noises during resting hours in neighborhoods are irresponsible and lacking of due respect. Please stop!!!!!

I was taken to lunch and as we're in Ilford, I actively crave a Beyond Burger with chips at Spoons because it's my tradition It was piping hot and totally scrum-diddly-umptious as always plus having eaten my friends chips, we had dessert, he a sticky toffee pudding me the vegan chocolate torte with coconut ice cream which was divine. Special thanks goes to Jamie who happened to hear me tell my friend that he brought over tartare sauce instead of mayo and he brought it over without me even asking, so he's very observant which is great customer care and attentiveness, he's such a star ✨ It was busy being a Friday lunchtime which I'm glad to see and the menu is extensive with more vegan options than ever, but it'll always be the Beyond Burger and chocolate torte for me .

Its much better these days, a year ago I'd have said it's one of the worst I've been to but it really has improved and credit is due.

Nice food good atmosphere friendly prompt service if I'm close ill return. Ps There is off-street parking which is free for half an hour or free completely after 6:30 PM.

Sometimes manager is very rude.

Microwaved food... Ok service.... Dud atmosphere, surrounded by unearthly looking creatures. But, the Guinness was Ok. Not a patch on Jonos, Oneills, or Ogradys. For Wetherspoons, it was as expected. You get what you pay for. You pay peanuts, you get monkeys 🐒

A very cozy pub, good food and drinks in a nice atmosphere. Have been here again after 9 years and we always like it.

I'm not usually one for posting pictures of food, but at £2.25 for a freedom breakfast, I felt I had to make an exception. Combine that with unlimited tea, coffee or hot chocolate for an additional £1.04 and you can't go wrong. Not all wetherspoon's do this deal but you can search on the app for the ones that do. The Potters Wheel in Swansea that does the same deal

Best of the best. Polite staff. Speedy service. Great selection of food and drinks. What is not to be liked. For those who smoke, and not. Reasonable sized rear patio area. I’m winging it on a rainy afternoon 😄

Cheap beer 🍺 .. i rest my case .. had a good time..

Have been here late at night after a fata car breakdown, desperate and need a drink. Very nice and helpful staff advised me what is best to look for in this area at this time of the night. Drinks have been astonishingly cheap. Very big spacious room and a full equipped bar. Very nice.

Someone needs to tell the 'Kitchen Associates' that eggs are not supposed to be served as raw as they come out of the back of the hens. I've complained on multiple occasions, but most of the floor staff just seem to expect the contents. The latest serving was something that Banksy would struggle to create. Half of the white was the texture of an overdone burger, the other half being sure slime. The yolk was as fresh (and is warm) as it left the hens vent. To be fair, the colour was pleasing, probably proof of being Free Range. It's just a pity that they don't cook them properly.

Sent wrong order of chips to with food order. Brought this to server's attention who said she would change it. Then member of staff from kitchen came out to find out what we wanted? I then asked for the manager who finally changed the order. By the time chips arrived the rest of our food was getting cold. So overall our ding experience was not a pleasant one.

Very nice pub. With a beautiful garden in the rear. Service could be better. But seems hospitality industry is struggling with staff. Over all good atmosphere. Cheap and reliable.

I have been a regular at the Wetherspoon in Ilford for some time now, and I feel compelled to highlight the exceptional service provided by Ella, one of the barmaids who truly stands out. Despite her young age, she manages to handle difficult situations such as fights, complaints, and tricky customers with remarkable poise and professionalism. It's impressive to see her in action, especially when more senior staff members shy away from these challenges. Not only is Ella adept at managing tough situations, but she is also incredibly friendly and polite. Her warm personality and consistent dedication to her work create a welcoming atmosphere that makes me look forward to visiting the pub. In my opinion, she is undervalued and deserves a pay rise for her hard work, effort, and outstanding personality. Ella is the main reason I frequent this pub, as she truly makes it tick. She is the heartbeat of the Wetherspoon in Ilford, and her contribution should not go unnoticed. I highly recommend visiting this pub and experiencing the top-notch service she provides. Ps. Don't forget the lime! Lol

One of those spoons with excellent staff members. Food is always the best they can possibly offer and the choice of beers, especially craft cans are great. It shows that the managers there do care about the customers and take all requests seriously. One of my favourite spoons in London

First time visiting this Pub. Very nice classic decor, large floorspace, bookshelf decorated booths made for a very pleasant lunchtime break. Busy friendly bar/kitchen staff. Located very close to Valentines Park.

I have updated this review from my previous 4 stars. This is by far the best spoon pub I am happy to regularly visit. The staff make this pub an absolute joy to frequent to drink and eat. They are so friendly, approachable and so on the ball with cleanliness, clearing tables, and making the place pleasurable for the clients. Unfortunately yesterday one guy was vomiting all over the place, the carpet, the stairs and the gentlemen's toilets all over the floor. The staff had to deal with this and that they did , and managed to clean up fromm a guy who was sick a few times of different occasions. Not good. The manageress on the evening was brilliant, mucking in with everything, directing staff to jobs and also thanking them for it, great to see. This should be the model for all spoon pubs. I went to this one on a bus journey as the Romford one is totally the opposite and not a great place for a beer. My only major gripe here is the selfish , normally regular, customers that hog the booths on their own. A couple of the booths fit 6 to 8 people easily and yet it is occupied by one person drinking a cup of tea. Just like hotels, booths should charge a single occupancy rate, as this is just selfish. Families and groups have to perch round tables causing movement issues for punters navigating aisles and carrying drinks. A surcharge of £10 per every half hour would be nice if just one person occupies a booth. Well done to all the staff here and their customer service and focus.

Visited to enjoy their offer of the day Fish and chips with Mushy Peas. Great value for money as always.

Came in to watch the game, order a pizza, it was alright. Then we went to seat down in a booth and one of the staff members was extremely rude and unproffesional, when we sat down she came to us saying we are not allowed to lay, we were resting our back on the back of the booth not laying and rudley asked us for our ids and then she made a remark saying “this is a pub not your bloody house” there was no reason for the attiutde or the ugly looks, it made us uncomfortable and upset.

We had really bad experience with the bar staff who saving at the counter, they are not happy to serve to different appearance people, no smile no happy face. They only serve with smile face to regular customers when they see the new customers we are not well come( its seems like) And the regular customers also behave like they own the Bub. No bad comments for food. Food was really nice hands up for the chefs. When we went with family we have been treated badly by the regular customers with bad word and they try to fight with us how ever situation was expected when everyone was having drink, but the security guy was laughing with the regular customers team, its make us not to come to this place again. I know its not a big lose for this big business peoples.

One of the best locals around for us. Relaxed, friendly staff, happy and flexible, including accommodating our preferences. Credit to the Chef for consistently producing the crustiest and tastiest fish attractively presented with our preferred jacket potato. 👏👏👏 Only downside is the cigarette smoke filtering into the eating area, customers sitting in front entrance completely ignoring 'No Smoking' sign and with doors open gets very uncomfortable for affected diners and drinkers.

Early morning breakfast.. The miner's Benedict.. Poached eggs on black pudding on muffins with hollandaise and some rocket salad.... Arthur Scargill wouldn't recognise it, but it was an excellent breakfast. Lovely staff, chatty customers.. great place for breakfast

The staff here are very up their own hole. The manager is a good guy but his staff need to be more customer focused and not about themselves. The food and drinks great price and quality. Very shiiiit staff., no smile , no eye contact, no queuing system. They serve people according to who ever pushes in. No organising.

It's hard not to love a good old Wetherspoon's now and then. Notes in the toilet to talk to the staff if you're stuck in the position on a bad date and they'll get you a taxi

Always fairly busy warm to fairly crowded pub diner. I go in here daily now in the evenings, for teas and to be in the warm and be with what are now many freinds, pay for one tea at £1.04p ( each pub varies its prices ) and get free tea chocolate, latte and coffee drinks etc... all day.. now thats VERY good value for money! Also the Nations Cod and Chip Shop now too, Wetherspoons sell over 10,000,000 Cod and Chip Meals a week now. There are over 1000 of these outlets now. Enjoy. Don't you think?

The main issue was with our waiter, who single-handedly ruined what should have been a pleasant meal. We ordered a chicken burrito bowl, but when our food arrived, there was no chicken. We asked our waiter about this, but he insisted we hadn't ordered it. We explained that there must have been a misunderstanding, and asked for the chicken to be brought to us but he refused to help and went off to "investigate." When he returned, he firmly stated that chicken wasn't on our order, dismissing our complaint and leaving us frustrated and refusing to give us the chicken. We were pressed for time and had simply wanted a quick, good meal. When we expressed our dissatisfaction, the waiter became defensive and asked if we wanted to speak to the manager. However, despite our repeated requests, he clearly made no effort to get the manager, instead continuing to serve other customers and ignoring us. After asking a third time,during which he became defensive and very annoyed , another staff member approached us and asked if we wanted a refund. We explained we didn't want a refund or to file a formal complaint; we just wanted the chicken we had originally ordered, even if it meant paying extra. Unfortunately, this simple solution was never offered. We were left feeling deeply upset by the poor service we received. We have always chosen Wetherspoons for its usually quick and good service, but today's experience has made us rethink our loyalty. If the management wishes to investigate, we were at table 19 and our meals were served at 18:38. This was a disheartening experience that reflects poorly on what we expect from Wetherspoons.

The counter staff were very snobbish towards some people based on their appearance. They face down when you get to the counter and pretend to be very busy in a very selective way. They kept me waiting for nothing purely ignoring me !!! Shocking !!! I felt very very intimidated and humiliated. They should serve every one with respect regardless and its not the first time am experiencing this seems it's a normal practice here. Sorry I won't be coming back here at all!!!!Never ever

Nice one, similar to all other weather spoons

Went in for the breakfast and endless coffee. Greeted by a very cheerful and friendly young lady behind the bar. Doing a promotion on certain things and the coffee is only £1.04 at the moment. The free WiFi was working as well. They're on The Cloud.

Typical Wetherspoon's. Food was nice and served quickly. Drink is very cheap. Pub and facilities very clean.

Adult pub, not really for children

Possibly best presented interior Wetherspoons for daytime users at least. Comfortable cosy booths throughout plus the more open seating. Been several times and is popular with what looks a regular clientel. Food and Service is always great and prices great value for money. Very close to Valentines Park & The Shopping Mall. Great transport links buses, Elizabeth Line & Super Loop Bus nearby or pass the door.

I'm editing this review after a bad experience. Trying to buy breakfast using the app, it wouldn't work. Tried a couple of times snd still no luck. I went to the bar to order and staff refused to sell me breakfast as the clock said 12:01. Over the years I've spent so much in this place. If you want breakfast in the area, try the Titanic cafe a short walk away.

I arrived before 12 noon. I tried to order breakfast on the app, which wasn't successful. I tried a couple of times. Still it wouldn't work I went to the bar to order and because the time was now 1 minute past 12:00, the staff refused to sell me breakfast. I have spent hundreds and hundreds of pounds buying breakfast in this place - almost always eggs benedict. What a way to treat a regular. Shame on you.

One of the worst Wetherspoons! The customer service or rather lack of was awful! The managers were rude and unhelpful! Not to mention they were shouting at us while trying to resolve an issue of a wrong order. I was also overcharged. When I addressed my concerns both managers were rude, shouting and extremely unprofessional! No to mention they did NOTHING to rectify the situation, I have been here multiple times and have never had such terrible service! I will be thinking twice as to whether I return!

It's a cozy and chilling atmosphere inside the place, really loved the ambience.

I'm from Germany and in summer of 2018, I spent my holidays in London for a week and I discovered this pub. I was absolutely surprised. The meal I have chosen was the Sirloin Steak and some kind of finger food. It was very tasty and the staff is kind too. I visited this pub two or three times within that holiday week.

Staff are friendly tables are clean all the time food and drinks very good price been here a few times for food very hot and quick service this is gonna be the better one out of the moon and stars in Romford

Arguably the best place in Ilford to hangout with friends over food and drinks. Great value for money . Both food and drinks are reasonably priced. I had mixed grill and cider, both of which did not disappoint. Very spacious and lots of tables available inside which means that the waiting time was relatively less as compared to other popular places in the area.

It's a witherspoons like any other with a reasonably priced menu it wasn't busy. But understaffed I was quite surprised

Great place. The coffee is just 1.02 and you can have free refills. The prices are very cheap. There is a lot of place and it is also clean. I come there every week.

Food was ok but no custard for apple crumble, dirty tables, could not find condiments, they were other end of a crowded pub, Iong wait will not be going back.

Nice cheap food and drinks, atmosphere is usually good too. Service on the other wasn't good when my wife and I went. Waited at bar for ages to be served, female bartender was there talking to a waiter, saw us as soon as we approached the bar and turned away. I intentionally coughed and eventually said "excuse me" a couple of times. She turned, looked at us and turned her back to us again, and continued talking away. An Indian male came out and served us immediately. We were about to walk out too.

I have been a regular for weeks, and I have to praise the good attitude and work of the staff.

If you ignore the old drunks sometimes slurring at your table, the food and drinks are cheap and the service is quick.

I was taken to lunch to the Great Spoon 3 December 2019 and $ August 2023 but was eager to have the Gourmet Meatless Farm™ Burger, chips and a Mango Monster cocktail {Raspberry Mocktail in 2023). . . . it didn't disappoint, in fact I was surprised at how good it was, enthusing to the waitress when she came to see how we were. This burger was succulent and rich, with beef tomatoes, lettuce and red onions and lovely chunky chips, delicious. During my 2019 visit it smelt of stale beer, the menu's feel sticky and I did have to ask for our 12 noon table to be cleaned, but the staff were pleasant, the food fantastic and even the ladies toilets were clean and tidy if up a flight of stairs(there's a accessibility one on the ground floor). In 2023 there was less beer smell and all tables were cleaned I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed my meal and had there been any vegan desserts (both times the Apple Crumble online wasn't available) I'd have had more than just a cup of tea to round the meal off. I'd have preferred to sit outside on the terrace but my friend is more delicate and wanted to be in the shade Even though it was August there were no kids about so it's a nice place to escape to for a child free few hours I would recommend it for a good casual meal at a low price.

OMG…. What an experience here. Staff is so rude and obnoxious. Specially guy called Kaz (black guy with glasses) was rude, disrespectful and asking me buy a drink for him otherwise he is not going to serve me. I am really!! Never had that before in my life… anyway bought a drink for him as well, then he drop all my drink before he serve me and ignore me when I confront him. This place need good grounding.. for sure..

Great,it wasn't too busy on that day. I enjoyed my glass of wine while we had dinner with my friend. My favourite thing about this place is bcs has divided tables with beaches left side of the pub when u enter in. It also has some pictures and books perfect for people who want to just to sit read a book while having a drink by them self perfect for me ;) after work to relax with or without my kids.
