Had the most delicious cheese and jalepino Panini and coffee. Coffee is wonderful. Mocka I had to ask.

We love going to Cafe On The Lane. Whether that's for breakfast (Summer Solstice and Backstage Pass are favourites), just for a coffee and a chat, or for a bit of cake. Run by lovely people, and amazing value. Go!

¡Este es el mejor lugar para desayunar en la zona! No es barato pero vale la pena. Tuve un desayuno de Headliner que solo viene con un huevo y salchichas, así que un poco tacaño. Agregué más burbujas, huevo y morcilla. Agregue un café y no obtendrá mucho cambio de 15. ¡Pero fue increíble y valió la pena el viaje!

Optamos por el solsticio de verano con tocino. El tocino es de primera categoría como es la burbuja. Sabor limpio y ambiente agradable. Hay asientos disponibles en el exterior y en el interior, aunque en invierno, cuando hace demasiado frío para sentarse afuera, puede ser un poco difícil conseguir un asiento en el interior. Dos desayunos y café llegaron a 20, lo que puede sonar un poco caro, pero definitivamente vale la pena pagar por la calidad ofrecida.

Totally fresh produce, avocado on toast with seeds and a delicious poached egg. The chef has great skills. People should support this independent cafe vs. the boring overpriced highstreet chains!!

Esta cafetería bien merece una visita para productos recién hechos. Un amigo y yo recibimos una cálida bienvenida de nuestro servidor. Nos sentamos en el interior aunque hay asientos en una terraza exterior. La comida está bien presentada y con buenos productos cocinados por un chef trabajador. Teníamos papas con pollo, tocino y mayonesa de aguacate, muy sabrosas. Usted puede tomar una cerveza o una copa de vino y platos veganos disponibles, junto con pasteles caseros y un buen café. Hicimos una parada para el desayuno el sábado y nos sentamos de inmediato, pedimos tocino, salchichas, tostadas, etc. y fue realmente encantador y de buena calidad, y cocinado a la perfección tal como lo había pedido, café agradable y fue muy razonable, he Vengo aquí desde hace años y para mí no ha cambiado, el mismo personal también estoy

El personal dio la actitud de que realmente no les podía importar menos, la parte superior de la mesa estaba pegajosa, el café era solo promedio y faltaba parte de mi pedido. Sin embargo, mi sándwich de socios estaba recién hecho y dijo que sabía muy bien.

Comencemos por decir lo agradable que solía ser este café cuando la mujer con cabello oscuro y gafas solía usarlo, la comida siempre fue perfecta, nunca fue un problema. ¡Ahora algunos de los antiguos empleados se han ido y tienen un nuevo chef incompetente que ni siquiera puede cocinar un huevo! Camarera que no escucha cuando toma su orden y no puede ser molestada la actitud de ir con ella. Es una pena porque solía ser un gran café, ahora tienen personal grosero que no escucha y un chef que lucha por poner 6 artículos separados en un plato. Increíble que este tipo todavía tiene su trabajo cuando se olvida algo de su plato y luego intenta apresurarlo a medias porque cometió el error en más de una ocasión. Evite a toda costa ahora personas que están entrando en este lugar y consiguen recuperar a las viejas que solían hacerlo correctamente. ??????

Three of us popped into this café for a quick lunch today and would definitely go back. The sandwiches were tasty, the bread so fresh and the coffee hit the spot. It was nice to have table service and this was done with a smile by the friendly, efficient waitress.

Cafè on the Lane seems to have had a complete change of staff and/Or management. The standards have since slipped massively! Waitress was rude and short with me on both of my recent visits (both visits in August) both times painfully slow to take order, also got part of order wrong when it did come. I wouldn't mind as much but then you are also made to feel uncomfortable sitting there because the waitress is just short with you and doesn't hide her displeasure. There's plenty of competition cafè/ eatery wise in South Woodford to make me not wish to return. It's a real shame as I used to enjoy it here very much!

Had the full English breakfast, was all cooked fresh and was delicious, good polite service. Cost £8.60 but did not include a drink so coffee extra, which makes this a little expensive

La comida es decente es suficiente. Los tiempos de espera y horrible es inaceptable. No es la primera vez he tenido un mal servicio y un largo tiempo de espera. Más de una hora para el desayuno y pidieron 3 veces por 3 diferentes personas si habíamos pedido comida. No volveremos.

You can wait a long time to be served, I have walked out before now having been totally ignored by the staff who serve other people but leave me and others sitting there, food not bad but coffee is not great far too strong for an ordinary white coffee

I ate a fantastic eggs benedict this morning, its the best I have ever eaten. The service was also amazing! I will be returning. I highly recommend The Café on the Lane 10 out 10!!

Often go for breakfast or lunch service is always great and food always lovely! Take my work with me sometimes and never feel rushed even when finished eating and just ordering coffee! Have a wide selection of breakfast including more heathy options then most of the cafes in the area, also lovely to sit out side in the summer

I previously posted a really positive review for what was my favourite cafe in South Woodford, however unfortunately we had a bad experience last Saturday. Upon arrival we noticed a tense atmosphere due to people waiting on their food, but we weren't deterred that much. I have worked in hospitality for years and understand the pressures of table service, especially when it is very busy. Few mistakes were made by the waitress and service was very slow, but we were interacting in a polite manner still. After waiting more than 30 mins for our food, we noticed 2 tables who had arrived and ordered way after us had received their food and by that point the rush had calmed down.

Waited 40 mins for our brunch ... finally my husbands was bought up and 10 mins later they realised they had forgotten mine ! Meanwhile a couple had waited so long they got up and walked out ... no apologies whatsoever from any of the staff to apologise for the long waits ... staff showed no concern that people were becoming very agitated ... tables were wiped with a dirty cloth... bacon was tough & overcooked as they rushed to cook food ... butter not spread on bread & cappucino served in latte mug .. ran out of proper cups ... on paying the lady making the sandwiches took my money & her nails were absolutely filthy dirty ! Never will I ever return & it deserves food inspectors to go in & visit as hygiene levels well below acceptable

My husband and I are regulars here for weekend breakfasts - we wouldn't go anywhere else in South Woodford. We also love to take any visitors staying with us.

Small and sweet They use a local butchers so the food is wonderful! Not your usual greasy cafe and you can sit inside or out

Mi amigo y yo pedimos una copa de vino, que estaba bien. Sin embargo, las copas eran muy nublado no haber sido limpiadas correctamente. Cuando mi amigo dijo que los vasos necesitaba una buena limpieza y polaco nos dijeron, de forma grosera, que los vasos que se lavavajillas y no borrados o pulido. También no tienen alguien para hacer esta tarea! Creo que si pides una copa de vino no creo injusto esperar un vaso limpio y reluciente para beber de ella. Mientras estar en el mostrador frío cubierto me di cuenta de que las tasas fueron todos té manchas. ¡Puaj! La señora mayor era bastante desagradable, así que sha no vamos allí.

Each time I've been to this cafe the staff are friendly and welcoming and the food is delicious. There is a nice seating area outside to enjoy food in the sunshine as well.

This little cafe is situated a few mins from South Woodford station and has a varied menu. We got a table outside and our order was taken by a vet friendly lady. Tea for 2 was served in lovely China cups and saucers and our brunch was delicious. Would definitely recommend this café In reference to other reviews about the smoking.. while we were there we saw smokers leave their tables to smoke away from the food.

Nice little place run by a nice Amish Lady, I think by her dresses. Food usually nice but if you sit outside you have to breath in all the fag smoke whilst trying to eat your quite expensive lunch. Will not return until the smokers are banished, including staff who smoke! all encouraged by ash trays of course!

The food is ok and the prices are fine.However, if you wish to sit outside on their very compact decking area you will be within a foot or two of others. I was seated no further than two feet from a woman who asked the waitress if she could smoke. The waitress replied yes if nobody else next to her minded. I DID mind. I minded very much and made it clear.If you chose to pack your customers so close together (and needs must when space is so tight) then smoking should, in my view, not be permitted. I thought this was an end to the matter but when my breakfast was served I was told by another lady who brought it to me that smoking was, in fact, allowed in this area and maybe I should sit inside. So I did. I ate, I paid and left. And won't return. So be aware, unless you want to put up with someone else smoking within arms reach, then sit inside. If you want to sit outside then you best go somewhere else. Unless of course you smoke yourself, in which case your right to poison others will be fully enforced by the management. I am never surprised anymore by the selfishness of smokers, but managements still occasionally throw a few up (sic).

Often passed by which was a mistake. Had a great table outside and enjoyed the snack and great service. The Café on the lane is dog friendly and if you like dogsvyou will meet a great variety and always good to start a conversation. The Bacon sandwich was to die for and the choice of teas remarkable.

While shopping in Waitrose we stopped for a coffee and snack . On ordering two coffees and our snack we handed over our Waitrose cards to cover te coffee when we were informed we would have to purchase a 30pence item to get the coffee free . On expressing that therefore the coffee was not free and did not really want a packet of biscuits or a banana I was informed we would then have to pay full price for he coffee. I asked when this new rule came into operation and where the change was notified. Told it was in terms and conditions of Waitrose card and we should have had an em. Also told this new rule was effective from 1st April so wondered if is was Waitrose April Fool but it was a day early. By this time a queue had developed so gave up as I will do with Waitrose Cafe on the Lane. Coffee was to strong and cold as was the toastie sandwich which took 15minutes to serve by that time coffee was undrinkable. We left afte spending over £100 on shopping disgusted with this new rule .

Unfriendly, hostile and rude staff when I just wanted to have a nice hearty breakfast after a long night shift.

When you've had a heavy night of boozing and you just want a gorgeous fry up and an incredible milkshake this is the place to go. I love sitting outside, really like the homely decor and blankets for when it's a bit chilly. People bring their dogs and sit outside as well and it's very community feel, etc.

We go most Saturday mornings for breakfast always good hot and tasty you sometimes have to wait for a table but it's worth it

We decided to begin my friends Hen party here. Cafe was extremely accommodating, even catering for special requests. We asked for Buck's fizz not something they usually do. I emailed the cafe with our requests and breakfast choices prior to our visit. Staff were extremely welcoming and well organised, breakfasts were delivered as soon as we were all seated. Such a lovely atmosphere and delicious food. Would definitely recommend and will definitely visit again soon.Thank you for a wonderful breakfast it was a lovely start to our day.

I found myself in South Woodford by chance one Saturday morning and decided to treat myself to a traditional English breakfast. I liked that this cafe had outside seating & l was not disappointed by my experience. The staff were relaxed and friendly, my breakfast (served all day) was cooked to perfection and the price half what l would have paid at most cafes in London. I will return!

Visited this lovely little cafe and managed to get seated outside...the eggs Royal was perfect....coffee could have been better but the service made up for that.....

We had intended to visit the Museum of Childhood but couldn't because the tube wasn't running, so we headed up George Lane to find a cafe to have coffee and play cards. A year and a half so we had stopped st this cafe so thought we'd try it again, and we're glad we did. The coffee, to our recipe, was excellent - weak ( flavored milk) and hot, and the staff inviting, engaging and very attentive treating us like friends not just customers. We only had drinks so can't comment on the food - we resisted the invitation to try the homemade baking. We'd certainly return, for both coffee and cards.

I don't usually write reviews but I felt a need to do so. The only reason I sometimes visit this place is because of the location, but on this occasion my experience was very odd. They served me a flat white coffee a small glass.. A coffee in a GLASS? The prices seem to rise every time I visit. 2 pounds for a glass of sainsburys orange juice! Which isn't the 'fresh orange juice' advertised on the menu. I then saw the waitress pick up a brownie with her bare hands and put it on a plate for a small child after just returning from a cigarette! The food is average but not worth the price. Their customer service is just poor, the only reason they are still in business is because of their location.

To be honest I'd ignore the negative review. I love a good English breakfast and in London it's hard to find. Breakfast Club might be nice, but i'm not sure the queuing time is really worth it, especially when you have local places like Cafe on the Lane! My fiance and I have lived in South Woodford for over 2 years now and have been going to Cafe on the lane consistently. We've tried lots of other places around East London but none yet that beat this place for great full English breakfasts. We took our friends there on Sunday for brunch and all had lovely dishes, their sausages are great (I now go to Chingford to get the same ones), sourdough bread is lovely, lovely black pud and massive portions and they're always happy to customise your order to suit you. Yes sometimes it can take a while to get served if it's busy, but nothing that spoils the experience. We love it and the staff are always super friendly and helpful, can't recommend it enough. Keep up the good work!

My wife suggested we visit here, and I thought just another café. I was wrong. Yes they do breakfasts, sandwiches and paninis, but many of the combinations are original and the quality is superior to most other cafés. Yolks are golden, bacon is fat and flavourful and the Cumberland sausages are fat, full of flavour and home made. After tasting this, I take issue with another comment that they may be better to stick to being a tea shop. Why should they deprive us of their lovely food? The teas by the way are served in a random variety of pots and teacups which I think is a nice eccentric touch. The tea follows the one for each person and one for the pot recipe. My wife made the comment that she really enjoyed her panini, and particularly the vinaigrette that accompanied the salad. Already planning our next visit to tie in with a trip to the Odeon around the corner

My husband and I decided to try Café on The Lane for a hot drink on Saturday. I had previously eaten there, which I found very disappointing, many years ago, but we thought we would give it another try. It was extremely busy outside and inside there was only one table available. We sat there but it was quite some time before anybody can to serve us. The girl that did, I think was new but she tried very hard. We ordered a cappuccino and a hot chocolate. I asked for the hot chocolate extra hot, as they tend to be lukewarm in most places. When they arrived, they were both very hot and hubby said the cappuccino was good, although the cup was very large. My hot chocolate was tasty without any sweetness, which was a bit odd as it was chocolate, and again in a large mug. In fact, I didn't need any lunch after having it as it filled me up all day.Was OK for a drink and the food looked OK but we didn't eat.Foxyfox10

I was in here on the weekend.. I waited 45 mins for food which was below average and cold, no flavour not what you expect from a breakfast charging £8, they were short staffed as the waitress told me and there was only one chef on. its was just so unorganised.. so many people were unhappy and quite a few just got up and left .The worst of it was the older blonde lady was so rude to me and also to other customers which is why I am writing the review, she was so abrupt. all the customers were complaining and I heard 3 ladies say this isn't the 1st time and they wont be coming back again. I live in the area and have been a 2 times now and sadly its only got worse, I hadn't been for nearly a year and thought I will give it another chance as I love to support local businesses especially in my area. This could be such a lovely spot but the food needs serious improvement and the service from the blonde lady was quite shocking. when the service is bad but the food is good you might over look certain things but when both are bad its quite worrying. I will never ever go back as it totally spoilt mine and my partners day. It is ok if you want a coffee or cold drink as they have a cute little terrace but that's about it. Coffees are ok but like I say that is it. One positive thing I will say its seems clean..

I come here quite regularly as its very local for me and very good. Food is always very tasty and the staff are very friendly and welcoming. This is the best spot for a sunny Saturday/Sunday brunch. I wish there were more places like this in South Woodford!

A light bite before heading into town, the menu was interesting and our orders were delivered to perfection. Friendly and efficient, this was just an ideal stopping point for a simple and tasty meal at a great price. We'll be back!

Have been going to cafe on the lane for 5/6 years and have never had a bad meal there. I strongly recommend the poached eggs of which sometimes I have every day haha! Very friendly staff and always a nice atmosphere, very busy most of the different times I have been there but I never have had to wait long for my meal. Very reasonably priced and well catered to even keep my fussy Niece and Nephew happy to on a recent trip with them! Well done and go give Cafe on the lane a try!

Food is lovely, amazing coffee but waited 20 minutes for scrambled eggs (while café was almost empty). I almost missed my doctor appointment, I thought 35 minutes were enough time. :(

This is a gem of a cafe which serves high quality cafe food. Just love the goats cheese, chorizo and flat peach salad. The cafe has a relaxed atmosphere with a friendly professional service. I certainly intend to visit this cafe on a regular basis.

I'd never had the pleasure of going into this cafe having passed it many a time. And now regret not having gone in before. After an awful experience nearby, we decided to venture in. We were greeted and seated with a pleasant and warm welcome. The place is tiny but cosy - they also have a terrace out front where they provide blankets to throw over your shoulders in winter ( a nice touch me thinks! ). We ordered a couple of sandwiches, and I was offered a choice of breads, including sour dough bread. I went for the latter and thoroughly enjoyed it. Nothing was a problem and when we paid they even spent a minute with us asking if we enjoyed it and getting to know a bit more about us - a nice touch. Definitely recommended....

A lovely little café located at the bottom of the arcades. I would push this café more towards a tea rooms rather than a greasy spoon. Friendly staff and nice hot baguettes. Very reasonably priced. (Visit - 09/01/2015 Lunch Service)
