Is my local it’s an amazing pub with amazing friendly bar staff. Always welcoming and friendly with people. Great Friday nights. Special shout-out to summer who is a core member of the staff. She has always made me feel exceptionally welcome showing the glowing specials and quality friendly service.

Waited over a hour for our food when asked how much longer I was told we are very busy its now been 1 hour and 20 minutes still no food

Unfortunately I have to change my review. I always loved coming here however the new menu doesn't cater for vegetarians. The beyond beef burger was one of the only reasons I went here. They have changed this to a falafel burger.....who the hell wants a falafel burger ......bring back the beyond beef 🍔 burger

Great venue to watch the football, had some nice food and drinks all served by friendly staff.

I've been a local for 30 years. Use to love the kareoke nights on Thursdays and disco Fridays. Then the place was transformed into a restaurant and the best nights lost in the process. Now just a small bar round the side with a rough feel about it . The best of the locals have now moved on sadly 😥

Came here for food a few days ago. The atmosphere is great, as were the staff! Especially the day timers Summer and Kate, always smiley and happy to help. Never get less than perfect service from them. We got the Rib & Rump and they were cooked perfectly. Dessert Sundaes were also delicious and well presented. 10/10 as always. 🌟🤩

A really nice and newly renovated pub with delicious food and quick service. Prices are reasonable, portions and selection of beer are big. It’s very spacious as well. I am giving 4 stars due to my salad tasting like cleaning product, everything else was quite yummy.

Never a dull moment in this pub! Staff are absolutely friendly, welcoming and accommodating for me and my partner. Due to my husband being Irish (from Dublin) he is often made to feel bad and ashamed when out in pubs in England, but this is one of our favourite places to drink. Not to mention, it's only up the road! Never a bad experience here.

Dining area was clean. Food was presentable and hot. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable

It can vary re the atmosphere, depending how busy, but for value for money for food and drink it's a good shout. Staff are always friendly and helpful.

What a great pub! Cannot fault it at all. Great staff including Summer and Kate, always smiley and attentive. Food is lovely. Never had a bad experience here!

Menu is big and varied, 4 of us had different dishes and all were very good and all plates were cleared, very reasonably priced too.

I had an incredible experience with Adam - he was absolutely fantastic! He took his time to ensure that our order was perfect and went above and beyond to make our dining experience truly memorable. I couldn't have asked for better service!

I think 1.95 for an extra egg on the gammon is a little bit excessive

Surprised at the range of dishes available. Our food was well made and presented. Loved the salads we had and our elderly parents enjoyed the mixed grill. Friendly and efficient staff.

We enjoyed our visit. We had prebooked and noted that one of the guests had accessibility issues and might be in a wheelchair. It wasn't clear that we'd been pre allocated a suitable table. As it was quiet it wasnt a problem as we were given a suitable table, but if it had been busier there might have been a problem. We liked the menu choice and that the food came quickly. The salads were great. We used the app to book, but it would have been nicer if it was clearer that ordering at the bar was an option: my parents said they wouldn't be confident using an app.

Amazing place…nice food and people…

I went for dinner with friends and we had a very positive experience as was first time we been here . We had fish and chips and T-bone steak which was delicious. Service was outstanding, friendly and welcoming staff . The place looks really nice and have a real good atmosphere . We will comeback again we love it !

The food is reasonably priced and of an ok standard. They won't win any Michelin stars but most pubs don't and the food is most certainly passable. A good selection of steaks and a wide selection of menu options. Atmosphere is always good in here. Friendly enough little boozer. Staffs service was 10/10, very well trained and doing a fantastic job. All polite and engaging and couldn't do enough to help.

Service from Marli was great, she made me feel welcomed and was extremely friendly.

Good atmosphere, service was good . We enjoyed a coffee in the afternoon and was a kids karaoke party which was great ! Enjoyed the family atmosphere.

Nothing was great. We waited 45 mins for our dinner, when it came out the kids burger was incorrect as I ordered plain. It took ages again to sort it out, and when it did come out the burger was rock hard and dry! It was so bad we walked out and went to McDonalds! My daughter couldn’t even bite into the burger, I cannot believe they think it’s normal to serve something like that. They also had to peas! It’s possible the worst place I’ve ever eaten!

The food was lovely, the service excellent too but as there was a children's party it was very noisy and there was danger as they were all running around. It was the servers I felt sorry for

Most of the staff are great. Drinks reasonably priced, nice refurbishment. Went to have a few drinks and play pool on a Friday evening but they closed the pool tables to make way for the DJ (probably should have checked on my part first).

Went with some friends on Sunday. Some of us chose the festive 🎄menu and it was amazing! Couldn't fault anything! Antonio the Manager and our waitresses especially Onya were very helpful and attentive. Great service, food 🍔🍟 and drinks 🍸🍺 all at a reasonable price too!

My visit to the old maypole was wonderful, as always. lovely staff and clean facilities. The food was delicious and the service second to non, I will deffo be returning. My kids are always happy to be here and there’s always a great atmosphere whether I’m just eating or come on a Thursday to sing on the karaoke or a Friday where they have a live DJ definitely the best local pub!!

The best pub locally - I love this place. The staff ensure I return regularly. Cannot fault the service at all. The refurb is brilliant and long overdue.

Been here a couple of times with my partner and our children they staff and always very friendly and accommodating. Foods nice And very decent for the price.

I had small portion of mac & cheese...very filling and tasty. Others had a selection of foods and have to say everything looked lovely and extremely well priced. Kate, the waitress, was fantastic...running around all over the place, serving and taking orders behind the bar and all done with a smile on her face! The ladies toilets were a joy, absolutely spotless and great decor. All in all a fabulous place, will recommend and will definitely go back.

The current menu is almost impeccable (with exception of no Sunday roasts). The addition of T-bone steak for steak lovers is a master stroke by Antonio. The staff always have a smile on their face and always say hello

Great pub & a beautiful refurbishment! Have been coming to this pub much more after their refurb and have never had a bad experience. Staff are incredible friendly and always go above and beyond for us. The food here has never disappointed. Always comes out quick and still piping hot. Desserts taste as good as they look! Nice cheap drinks and a great atmosphere to sit down with. Cannot recommend this pub enough! 10/10 ⭐️

A very positive experience for my first visit here. I went with a group of friends for an early Sunday evening dinner and drinks. Firstly they don't play any music, and although busy there's enough upholstery to cushion the sound. This is important if you're a bit hard of hearing, so it was easy to have conversation without shouting. It was also very straightforward to order food and drinks on both website and at the bar, and all our dishes arrived together (party of four). Lovely service and delicious food. And the food was really good quality for the price, very impressed. I will definitely visit again.

Food & atmosphere were outstanding! It was clean, fresh with great, comfy decor. Very reasonably priced food & drinks. Bobby (member of staff) was extremely friendly, helpful &;so polite. They have an Ipad for you to tap in any food intolerances you may have & then everything you can eat on the menu appears, amazing tool!

The staff were super friendly, the food was of restaurant quality (not just pub grub), and the place had been refurbished to a high standard. Prices were very reasonable and service was good.

Sat down at a booth with my child and my mum (no reserved sign) halfway through eating our meal we were asked to move tables as that table was reserved but they forgot to put a reserved sign. Waitress was very rude about it, serious attitude, her name was Kate.

Was a regular lunch customer before recent refurbishment and my dining friend and I missed it tremendously during the closure. Was so relieved that the quality of food and attention to comfort of customers has been sustained by Antonio and his staff since the August re-opening. The Old Maypole doesn't disappoint. I've never had a poorly cooked meal, anything but the best service from all the staff in a pleasant and comfortable environment. Full marks to Antonio. He's set and keeps the bar high.

Horribly cooked food, undercooked chicken and beef. I had some drinks and they tasted nothing like they usually do, the fosters tasted stale. Would not EVER recommend!

The quality of food is very poor, everything is deep fried and comes out hard, crispy and very dry. Sides, sauces for the kids desert were as if it was being rationed. I’ve eaten here 2times this last month and every time it’s terrible. Used to be great back in the day. Very very poor, do not recommend

Went for a last minute lunch here a while back and I must say, from the last time I was there, the service is much better. The decor was looking good, it felt clean and welcoming. Nothing was too much for the staff, especially Rob, he went above and beyond to cater to us. My son was a bit fussy with his food and he sorted us out with no problem.

Great local pub with friendly staff. I go to the Double Dicers backgammon club every Wednesday from 7pm - free entry. Highly recommended, whether you've been playing for years or want to learn. Very welcoming crowd and lots of fun to be had. Come along and try your luck!

Since the renovation upgrade a few months back have to say the food has greatly improved. Their steaks are very tasty especially their rib eye, my boy loves em and can't wait for our weekly visit to have one. If you order in advance there's a really tasty 20oz T-Bone on offer (I've had a couple to date and they're very tasty).. Always a warm welcome from the management with both Antonio and Rob always look after us when we visit... Long may it last ....

Nice friendly chilled out atmosphere. Billy our server was exceptional. Really friendly & full of suggestions (I have fussy kids) Bobby behind the bar was also awesome. Ordered our drinks & insisted on bringing them to our table. Both wasn't intrusive like other eatery's I visit. Just occasionally popped over to check if there was anything we needed & if everything was ok. Would recommend & will happily pay the guys & girls at the Maypole another visit soon 👍

Went to The Old Maypole for the Thursday quiz night and had a lot of fun. The quiz host was funny and created a great atmosphere. We had a meal and a few drinks before the quiz in the restaurant area. Ordered the T-bone steak and it was served perfectly. Tasted great and looked great. Cocktails were also very well presented. We will be coming back here every Thursday for quiz night. Definitely will be making this my new local! Lovely and friendly staff.

Come here once a week , the staff are very welcoming and can’t do enough , I find it very clean and yes this means the tables to , as I’ve read some negative comments , lovely food , can’t thank the chef enough , one time we came here it was our friends birthday , we asked if we could have a candle on a dessert brought out , the manager hadn’t any but soon disappeared to the shops and before u know it , bought the dessert over with a candle , al staff are very polite which makes us come back

Really impressive pub & the usual nice drink after my physio session this week. PLEASE be aware of the parking charge for the pub car park! Usually walking, the one time I drove I didn’t realise there was a charge. When I got a £40 fine letter the manager took the letter off me & said he’d sort it. He didn’t. I received a final £85 fine notice from Euro Car Parks with a threat of court action. I’ve paid it to save any further stress. Just a question… does the pub really need this? It’s such a good place to go yet it has this camera patrolled car park. I’m told that you can give the bar staff the number plate but I didn’t know that & missed the signs which hardly stand out on black notice boards. Poor for this visit then, purely because the manager said he’d sort it then didn’t so this week my pint cost me £85

Lovely menu with a list of different drinks they supposedly offer, unfortunately they don't have half of them or the ingredients to make most of the cocktails on the list. Menu also states they do cocktails in a fishbowl, when I asked for one the bartender looked at me like I had two heads. Some of our shots were served in tumbler glasses. Nice staff even though they left glasses piling up on the table. I hope all of this is due to them being under new management and maybe they haven't got the hang of stock take yet but unfortunately I won't be coming back to my local for awhile.

Wow! Cannot express how surprised I was with the NEW maypole! I came down hungry as the new menu had me want to try it all. I’ve ordered halloumi fajitas with a side of chorizo and chicken! Then a side of Mac and cheese which was made to perfection, it did not feel like the old times pub food more like a quality restaurant standard. Staff helpful, girl with glasses got my order just right even with all my strange requests :) the inside I believe had a refurb and the atmosphere is everything ! Love the new colours and clean feel to it. Well done to the maypole management and well done to the chef! I will be back and back again. 5/5
