The best restaurants serving British food in City of London, Westminster London

I went to city cafe for the breakfast because it was included with our stay! It’s a full buffet breakfast with great service! I went only on the first day because menu remains the same!

After visiting the Churchill War Room Museum, we decided we needed to stop and have something light to eat. The Switchroom Cafeteria is located within the museum. It is a small cafeteria that is open from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. It offers classic British fare, home-cooked pies, stews and tarts along with several deli sandwich choices, fresh salads and perfectly prepared soups. They have good coffee and an assortment of teas. The prices are reasonable. The staff was very accommodating and friendly. We enjoyed a freshly made Sweet Potato & Carrot Soup with 2 slices of white bread and butter (total £ 4.65). It was a delicious stop!

Definitely a hidden gem! You would never expect such a charming basement cellar from the generic entrance on a cute little pedestrian lane. But it’s a great surprise. Huge wine list! And Casey behind the bar was excellent and an expert with great recommendations and knowledge of wines. The entire staff seemed great and like they enjoyed being there - always a positive sign. Limited but interesting menu… lots of specials and tasting events. A place I will return to over and over.

This place is spectacular. The room is elegant, the staff delightful and the menu is superb. I would have expected £100 main dishes in a place like this but the £15-40 prices were a wonderful surprise.

Food was okay, garlic cheese pizza bread was the winner! Staff were very attentive with the cutlery they couldn’t give us enough and were happy to just bring more and more.

Went here for dinner the first night we were in London. We liked it so much that we went here our last night too! Both times were weekdays—it’s a busy place and often fills up quickly as the work day ends. It’s a beautiful place, lots of history. Pick an open table, order at the bar. The cheeseburger is fantastic. Good beer selection. Delicious sticky toffee pudding!

This was a nice pub with a good atmosphere. We had a lovely meal in here. All four of us enjoyed it very much and may well return again.

Full English breakfast was delightful apart from the hash browns which were soggy Service a little on the slow side but overall my experience was worth while 😀

The hotel is in a great location. 2 subway stations and restaurants in the immediate vicinity. We had a junior suite which was very large by London standards. Everything was available (hairdryer, safe, etc.). Rooms were clean and we had our own exit with a terrace (including tables and chairs). Staff was very friendly. The breakfast was ok. It was all there: cereal, yogurt, fruit, pastries, etc. There might have been a little more than just one type of sausage, but you wouldn't starve.

Opening hours are incorrect. On Friday they stop serving at 11pm, not midnight. They were very nice about it though and recommended another pub that’s open later.

Esperábamos nuestra mesa durante 15 minutos y esperábamos que nuestro tiempo de reserva se extendiera por el mismo período. No lo era. Los pedidos fueron recibidos y entregados rápidamente. Nuestro camarero era perfectamente cordial, si no amable. El kitsch característico de ‘Press for Champagne’ se rompió o se ignoró y tuvimos que seguir pidiendo recambios. La comida era normal. El pastel es encantador de mirar, pero poco mejor que una comida lista, aunque el puré estaba golpeando. El martini característico estaba bien, pero he tenido mejor por el precio. Tratamos de pedir más champán con 25 minutos restantes en nuestra reserva y nos dijeron que no teníamos que ir en 10 minutos para que no pudiéramos tomar más bebidas? La actitud con la que se entregaba era divertida, como imaginar una actitud superior con personas que están pagando precios severamente sobreinflados para cenar en un restaurante. Pedimos que se eliminara el cargo por servicio y nos encontramos con una mirada que realmente golpeó el punto. En el lado positivo el lugar es precioso y la compañía fue lo suficientemente buena para no dejar que nos moleste en ese momento, pero nunca volvería.

The Old Shades is beautiful spot nearby Great Scotland Yard. We came in for a drink and were so impressed with the atmosphere. Becks sat us down and immediately made us the delightful cocktails. This is the best expression martini I’ve ever had! Would highly recommend and ask for Becks.
