Proper English pub with good food, good athmosphere and nice beers. The waitress Diana kept her smile despite the many farmers that invaded the place after a strike.

Solid pub food! I had the chicken snitchzel which was a good amount of food at a good price. Didn't feel touristy!

I first went to The Old Shades Pub nearly 47 years ago to ask my future Father-in-Law for his daughter's hand in marriage. It is as good now as it was then! I have visited it whenever I am in London. On Saturday it was for family members and there were eight of us. The friendly service was exceptional as was the food, beer and wine! Another great experience! Thank You to all the staff.

We couldn't end our stay in London without trying one of the classic local pubs Near Trafalgar Square there is the Old Shades, a beautiful English-style pub, warm and welcoming, all in wood Friendly and cheerful staff, we are immediately transported into the typical festive atmosphere of the place, where mugs of beer whiz by everywhere The menu is varied, ranging from classic dishes to slightly revisited ones We tried something based on fish but above all meat, and we must say that we were satisfied It was definitely the best way to return home coming here, one of the most typical things about the United Kingdom remains vivid in the mind

Beks is an absolute legend of a cocktail maker! Come here and ask him to make something (anything) - you’ll never be disappointed. Best spicy margarita of my LIFE.

This pub was a delightful find on Google after a visit to the National Gallery. It's narrow but goes way back so not too small. The food was delicious! And the service was superior. Not too busy either on Tuesday at 2pm. Convenient to buses and trains. I highly recommend a visit.

Just came in this morning and we were so pleased to find this delightful pub. Had the soup of the day and my husband had the fried haddock. Loved both. Diana, our server, was very helpful.

Good ale and a proper unspoilt London pub now owed by YOUNGS who know their Ales. Unofficial "HQ" of the Royal Yachtsmens Association when attending the Cenotaph on Remembrance Sundays.

The food was so delicious that my mouth is still watering and I and stuffed full! Sticky toffee pudding will be something I dream of in the future! The duck was tender and tasty.

Beks was a great host kept the drinks flowing all night amazing cocktail skills! Such a joy behind the bar outstanding drinks and atmosphere really made us laugh and took care of us all night and made sure we had a good time went above and beyond!

I'm always a little worried about potential tourist traps but I was really happy with the roast here..I had beef and tried the pork and lamb..all were excellent. We arrived late for our booking and the best was done to accommodate us. Fast service and a very pleasant experience.

Busy pub in tourist-central Westminster. Decent enough food at expected central London prices (above average quality wine list). The soup of the day was a (still very tasty) cream of onion rather than the stated French onion, the rare steak was basically blue (not a problem for us, but in case others mind), the cabbage was swimming in butter and pretty tasteless, and the venison carpaccio needed extra salt but was beautifully tender. Staff were friendly but service was fairly slow. Music too loud and intrusive for much conversation. All in all, wouldn't go back on a Saturday evening - probably better for lunch.

Beks and The Old Shade! What a duo! It is our first night in London after 27 hours of travel la and they could not make us feel more welcome. The food is delicious, the beers cold and the vibe is next to none.

It’s always anoleasure coming here to The Old Shades. It’s been around since 1680, what more can you ask for! Great food, great drinks, even better service! Highly recommend sitting at the bar and talking to the bartenders!

Came in on a whim after a long flight. We sat at the bar and Beks got us the beer we needed. Not only was the beer good the fish and chips, and the sausage dish was amazing! I will be coming back next time I’m in London.

Amazing experience. Had Sunday roast with friends from abroad and was just planning to have a British experience 😂 But everything was great! The environment/decor/ambience, the food, last but not least (maybe most importantly) the staff have all contributed to this great experience. And I’ll definitely come back. Diana service is the best❤️❤️💙 The menu recommendations are excellent and they are bright and friendly! The fish and chips are really huge and delicious. The pie has something like stewed beef in it, but it's light and delicious, and it's a fantastic combination with the mesh potatoes!!
