It looks like the restaurant is closed - no atmosphere ,charm or cosy (as it was many years ago! ). Only sofa, chairs and tables. The Lounge was empty - only two of us - the hamburger was hard like a stone and did not taste good! There was two on duty, but they did not have much time for us… Sorry, but we cant recommend this place!

What a wonderful afternoon tea we had yesterday at Scoff & Banter, Oxford Street. The staff were welcoming, friendly and extremely efficient without being obtrusive. We were looked after superbly by Robert and colleague. The food was absolutely delicious - what a clever idea to allow people to choose their own menu for tea thus avoiding problems of ordering food not suitable for everyone. We were completely thrilled with our visit there and will certainly be back as soon as we can - one of the best afternoon teas ever!

Do not really want to tell you about this as it will not be a secret much longer! Only a few steps from Oxford street almost opposite bond street tube. Stopped for a cup of tea in the lounge bar located on the ground floor but the staff were so attentive and friendly we decided to have an early supper - we both had sea bass with kale as a side dish cooked with garlic. Nice and quiet in there - which is amazing considering the throngs of people just a few feet away. The barman/waiter was keen to tells us how good the afternoon teas are in the lounge on the first floor and I see from tripadvisor it is rated highly so may try that next time.

You can get all sorts of afternoon teas these days . Me--I'm a traditionalist- I tend to prefer the basic sandwich/scones/cakes & pastries sort of thing but there are a large number of variations on the theme. Scoff and Banter ( awful name btw- doesn't exactly raise expectations on how the place looks and behaves) offers a basic product that starts with tiny savoury dishes, wanders into an array of often quite unusual sandwiches, rolling on into an array of small scones which includes...

I booked this using a Virgin experience days voucher and I have to say if I were ever planning an afternoon in London with my family again, I wouldn't hesitate to book again! The service was fantastic, my daughter was quite upset after losing her handbag in a nearby shop and our waiter went out of his way to make sure she smiled and enjoyed the afternoon. He was friendly, polite and professional, recommending dishes when we were struggling to choose. He was always smiling and nothing was too much trouble for him, he is a credit to the establishment! The venue was spotlessly clean and inviting and all other members of staff were just as welcoming and professional. We had such a good time that we the upset of losing a bag was soon forgotten. A fantastic place to visit and I would recommend to everyone.

I booked Afternoon Tea for my Mother's birthday. I hadn't heard a lot about Scoff & Banter but I had seen it about it Covent Garden & Leicester Sq so I thought I would give it a shot. It certainly didn't disappoint! I have been a fair few Afternoon Teas in my time and, all things taken into account, this is by far one of the best I've had in London. The service was impeccable; our waiter, Fabrizio, was incredibly helpful and knowledgable about all aspects of the menu.Which gets me on to the menu. Unlike any Afternoon Tea I've been to before, the Scoff & Banter experience offers you a "tailor made" tea, allowing you to choose a selection of dishes from across four categories. It allows you to go down the "tradional" route but alos offers some very interesting twists if you're looking for something different. Finally, in comparison to other Afternoon Teas in London, the pricing of the standard tea is very reasonable, and in my opinion offers superior quality than some of the "high-end" teas around London. The menu caters for a variety of tastes and there are a good selection of vegetarian dishes. The only negative I can think of is the view - being on Oxford Street, the only thing to look out over is the side of Debenhams! That being said, you will be so engrossed in the food experience in front of you that the view won't even cross your mind. The decor is very nice and the crockery gives you that "quirky" Afternoon Tea feel. All in all, I cannot recommend this enough. It's a great way to cater to a variety of tastes, without breaking the bank

On a visit to London for a live recording at the BBC I came across this place online as I wanted to treat my friend to a special treat. OMG I am just so pleased that I did.Ok - bad thing first......if you don't know this place is here you'll just walk past. It is directly behind the Disney store on Oxford Street and is on the 1st floor of the Radisson Blu hotel. Come on people - this is something to shout about so get some advertising out there so more people can enjoy this place!!Ok - rant over. We came for a 3pm sitting on a Thursday and it was deader than a very dead thing. That was not such a bad thing as Alonso (our waiter and tea drinking guru) was able to chat to us which helped make it a special visit. Our afternoon tea was even better as we received a complimentary bottle of Prosecco (it slid down VERY nicely I have to say!!!) We both had 2 items each from the hot menu, the scone menu, the sandwich menu and the sweets menu. Each item was a lovely taster but large enough that we could share them. The food was just incredible - so very fresh and full of amazing flavours. Complimenting this (as well as the Prosecco) was some incredible tea (again thanks to Alonso for helping as I just could not choose one and his choice was absolutely perfect!!).I can imagine the restaurant would be packed at weekends and I am sure that that may change the atmosphere from what we experienced but I have to say that for some teatime decadence, this has got to be at the top of your list. Now it is not cheap at all but we were there for nearly 2 hours and left will full tummies and for the centre of London we both believed that it was most definitely worth a trip (and maybe another one or 2 visits in the future!!)

I love afternoon tea! I I have had a few. I must admit this maybe become my favourite - it is a close contender. It does not have the fancy name behind it like my previous review mentioned but the staff and chef at Scoff and Banter - Berkshire Lounge really made us feel so wonderfully welcome. A big thank you to Samil, Mathew and Franscico. This was a present from a friend to my husband and I. We had to select our own tea - which was nice as some afternoon teas you have to have the same tea. I chose a beautiful Jasmine blend and husband had the Assam.Samil who was the waiter who welcomed us gave us a nice treat of 2 hot dishes each to choose from - as this was not included in our deal. He then gave us a glass of Prosecco and told us after he will give us another complimentary. The choice of scones, sandwiches and desserts was explained to us beautifully by Mathew and he also gave us recommendations. Seriously the staff were not intrusive but always checked to see if we were enjoying ourselves. When Samil's shift was finished he said he was leaving and politely said he said we were now to be looked after by, Franscico. Who was equally attentive to us and topped us up with more Prosecco. He also said to relax no rush and offered to make us more tea. I think we were there for nearly 3 hours just relaxing. The food was good, fresh and good portion sizes for high tea.Would I go back? Of course especially with the level of detail to make dinners feel so welcome.I apologise if I have spelt names wrong.

Four of us booked in for afternoon tea, four delicious courses, you picked two items from each course. The beef from the first course was amazing, various flavours of scone with jam and cream, a good selection of sandwiches and desserts, sticky toffee being my favourite. The tea was strong and flavourful. The deal of the day was a free bottle of prosecco if two people booked afternoon tea so we couldn't say no to two! One of our party did not partake in the free prosecco so they offered an alternative without prompting & kept the glass topped up. The service was exceptional.

What a lovely twist on the concept of afternoon tea. I loved the fact that you could pick your dishes like an a la carte. Our waiters we extremely courteous and friendly- the complimentary bottle of Prosecco was a wonderful added bonus. My only gripe was that the portions were a little small especially as the dishes were so delicious! Lobster soup, scallops, sticky toffee pudding...yum yum yum. Don't get me started on the fresh scones with homemade fresh strawberry and rhubarb jam. My mouth is drooling just thinking about it. Admittedly, £35 (excluding service charge) may seem a little dear for afternoon tea however if it's experience and quality you desire then this eatery is certainly worth every penny.

My wife and I enjoy afternoon tea treats whenever in London and tried the "Scoff and Banter" upstairs in the Radisson Blue Edwardian. It was one of the most unusual and best afternoon teas we have enjoyed. We were greeted by Swami who showed us to our table and gave us an impressive list of teas together with a menu. We chose two tasters each from each of four courses starting with the " hot" course. The scallops were excellent as was the sticky fillet steak. Next was our choice of sandwiches and I chose steak with caramelised onion followed by rare venison. There was a superb choice of scones but we both chose the Seville orange and the pistachio nut. In fact we got two mini scones of each choice giving a total of eight between us. Accompaniments were rhubarb jam, Devon clotted cream and strawberry jam. The quality was superb. Our final course was two mini sweets each. I chose a strawberry and cream tart and a glass of raspberries in a "gin and tonic" raspberry jelly. My wife had a unique take on lemon meringue tart and a raspberry and rhubarb creme in a coffee cup.We were also treated to a "soft" cocktail which was both delicious and refreshing. As it was a celebration of my wife's birthday, she was treated to a slice of chocolate cake suitably decorated and personalised by the chef. A most thoughtful and generous gesture.Throughout our three hour tea we were attended by Swami, Mathew and Robert who were very informative and helpful. Their discreet attention added to what was a most pleasant afternoon of fine food. Altogether the ideal way to celebrate my wife's birthday and one I highly recommend to lovers of afternoon tea who are looking for something special.

Searching for a place to have afternoon tea in London, it seemed that many places were very expensive and/or a little bit boring in their menu. The Scoff & Banter Tearooms at Oxford Street sidestep both issues to deliver a lovely afternoon tea experience that you will want to repeat again and again. It's unusual, but very well thought-out, that the afternoon tea here starts with a selection of hot dishes. With two afternoon teas (£35 each) between us, my friend and I sampled Rockefeller oysters, scallops with cauliflower beignets, a lamb chop and a lobster bisque. All were cooked perfectly. Then we moved on to the classic part of the tea: scones, sandwiches and cakes. The menu has 6 choices of each item, and you can choose 2 per person. The choices are more interesting and versatile than in other establishments offering afternoon tea: particular highlights are Seville orange scones, croque madame sandwiches, venison-on-rye sandwiches and a salmon and crayfish bagel. They do the classics well, too; the cucumber sandwiches were excellent. On the desserts, try the poached rhubarb and custard and the lemon meringue. The tea menu is extensive, with plenty of choice for both connoisseurs and those who just like a good cuppa. There's a special offer, which seems to be all but permanent, where they offer you a complimentary bottle of Prosecco when you order two Afternoon Teas; the Prosecco they serve was very light and fruity.Service was friendly and attentive. Although the tearoom and the tables look pretty and extravagant (as you'd expect), the atmosphere is friendly and relaxed. We spent over two hours sitting and chatting over our cakes, a lovely retreat from the bustle of Oxford Street. The portions are well thought-out for the amount of items you end up sampling (tiny scones, dainty sandwiches); although we were still very full by the end, it didn't feel like an excessive amount of food, more an indulgent celebration meal.If you're considering a place to try afternoon tea that combines the classic with the more adventurous and the feeling of extravagance with a low(er than others) price tag, look no further than Scoff & Banter. The food, the service, the whole experience was fantastic and they deserve to be more well-known!

Visited for afternoon tea on a rainy afternoon in February and can't fault the experience. Lovely setting, attentive service and delicious food. There was a huge amount of food, and we particularly liked the amount of choice (this is why we chose it over other afternoon tea options). We had a few requests - I wanted hot chocolate instead of tea and my friend wanted her sandwiches without butter and nothing was too much trouble as the food was made to order. It's very conveniently located for Oxford Street shopping just opposite Bond Street Station. The staff were great and very keen to hear our feedback - good or bad. We (two couples) came here for Sunday tea before a concert. It is a modern room on the first floor and was not at all busy. The waiter, Fabrizio, was attentive and helpful. The tea consists of a choice of two dishes per diner in various categories - two savouries, two types of scones, two sandwiches, two desserts. They were small portions but delicious and it was particularly good for us as I am lactose intolerant and usually cannot eat much tea! Also some unusual flavours of tea. There is an offer on of a free bott of prosecco or a discount online. Alas the afternoon was a bit spoilt by the terrible canned music, far too loud, on a loop which went round at least four times while we were there - apparently mandated by head office and impossible to turn off or adjust the volume (why oh why be so stupid as to do this in what purports to be a classy restaurant?) Nonetheless the tea made up for it.

We were a party of 4 and booked for 1.15 pm on 9.1.16 at the tea rooms at Scoff and Banter at the Radisson Berkshire. Had a terrific time with plenty of lovely food, far too much for us. Our waiter, Justas, was brilliant. Gave us a rundown on the various teas available and really didnt mind when two of our party requested hot chocolate. Happily provided iced water for us, nothing was too much trouble. Even took some fab photos for us. There are various options and we chose the 4 course option, with the hot first course and then your selections of scones, sandwiches and desserts are brought out together. The price (£34 each) included a free bottle of prosecco per 2 people and we were able to take our 2nd bottle (along with a full ice bucket ) back to our room for later. The china is so pretty and the waiters really try hard to ensure everyone had a great time.Having paid so much more to enjoy the privilege of tea at Claridges last year, I think this really is excellent value.Personally we weren't overly keen on the different breads for the sandwiches and the strawberry preserve was a little runny, minor niggles.Loved it, thank you.

I brought my mum here as a 50th birthday present and we both agreed it was fantastic. It was really nice to have so many different options- we both have different tastes so being able to choose 8 dishes each was perfect for us. Really nice to have the hot dishes option as well. We were served by Justas who was lovely and attentive but all staff were very friendly. Highly recommended!

My friends and I met here just before xmas and had a lovely time. The staff were very attentive and the food was delicious. After considering many places for afternoon tea Scoff & Banter offered the best food selection and with a little twist. The price was reasonable and we got a free bottle of Prosecco as part of a deal - lovely!

Having wanted to do something a little different on our two day trip down to London, we decided to take afternoon tea to break from some sale shopping. Having been let down by Selfridges, we took a punt on Scoff and Banter, which neither me or my partner had heard of, but had great reviews online. Well we weren't disappointed! The service was excellent, the staff were very charming. The food was delicious and the addition of two hot savouries to start was brilliant. If you want a great selection of teas, sandwiches and classic cakes or puddings, in a charming tea room, you can't go wrong here!

I took my mum to afternoon tea at Scoff and Banter for a Christmas treat on 23rd December, I enjoyed it so much I took my husband on 26th December also!It is a lovely mix of hot and cold dishes, with a great selection and unlike most afternoon teas you can choose exactly what sandwiches, scones, cakes and hot dishes you would like (most we have been to you get a selection given to you and the cucumber sandwiches are always left!) I would recommend the scallops and sticky fillet beef! Also when we visited we received a free bottle of prosecco which makes the afternoon tea really good value for money. The staff were lovely and it is the perfect relaxing break from Oxford Street shopping! If you are in doubt just look at the menu and the amazing selection of dishes on offer.

Hard to find as it's on first floor of a hotel behind Disney but you won't regret it particularly if the wonderful Swami is there to look after you. We were in a group aging from 16 to 76 of different nationalities and football loyalties and had a fantastic tea helped by plentiful free prosecco, gunpowder tea and all sorts of hot and cold goodies from scallops to sticky toffee pudding. We couldn't finish!

Amazing range of choices across 4 courses topped off with 3 bottles of quality Prosecco between the seven of us for free!!Only down side was having to slightly rush the end of our session due to theatre commitments. Allow yourself plenty of time to graze through the menu. Staff were super attentive.

Visited with my mum who was spending the day in London. We had afternoon tea which was served in a nice upstairs room. Like the fact that we could choose from a selection for each course - we were spoilt for choice and enjoyed everything. As a non tea drinker it was good to be offered a selection of coffees. All waiters were friendly and attentive. Would be a great place to visit while shopping on Oxford Street (behind the Disney Shop, opposite Bond Street Underground). Based on our experience would recommend and would visit again.

Had a fantastic time from start to finish. On arrival, we weren't exactly sure where the tea room was & a very helpful young man who was actually on check in duties escorted us up to the 1st Floor, confiding he had tried the new menu & that we were in for a treat. The room itself is very 1920's with lots of wood panelling, linen tablecloths & pretty pastel coloured china & a great choice of background music. We were greeted & seated by the lovely Alonso who explained the menu & then Justas came to take our order, offering little titbits of info about the origins of afternoon tea. Along with a wide range of teas, we could choose 2 hot dishes, 2 types of scones, 2 sandwiches, & 2 desserts each, alongside a free bottle of prosecco! Not sure what happened to the chaps, but we were then served by the friendly Dina. The whole experience was very enjoyable with fabulous customer service & I would recommend it, in fact I'd love to do it again soon.

I booked via their website for the afternoon tea at the tearooms located on the 1st floor. As soon as we entered the Radisson, the staff were polite and helpful. Arriving at the 'tearoom', we found ourselves to be the only people there (I was with my mother), which is a shame as it turned out to be fantastic.Justas our waiter was thoroughly professional the entire time, along with another waiter who served us briefly. My mother, who is a hard one to please, thought the service attentive but not intrusive. The actual tea itself is wonderful... A large selection of teas, with certain, it appears, not on the menu but if asked they will serve it i.e. Lapsang, and a variety of coffees that tempted me. The amount and quality of the food served is great. The hot starters are so different and they stood out as the main event - oyster Rockefeller and scallops were wonderful, the egg Florentine was cute (although a bit of salt was needed). The selection of scones one can order are varied and delicious - Seville orange were fabulous...and the sandwiches were also yummy, they also do miniature puddings - the sticky toffee pudding is just sooo good and the rhubarb and custard, well it was like a creme brulee and I wanted more! All in all, this experience at Scoff & Banter was great.. and I am definitely recommending it to friends and family.. For what we had, the price is also sooo reasonable.

I visited here this evening with my good friend who I haven't seen in a while and we wanted somewhere convenient but where we could have a nice high tea and a good catch up chat. The setting is luxourious, beautifully designed and well maintained (plus spotlessly clean). It was so relaxing and peaceful and you would never guess you were sitting above Oxford Street. There is a really clever balance between tradition and modern in the look and feel of the place and it seemed like real care and thought had gone into creating and delivering it as a dining experience. The service is absolutely flawless. We were seated and served by Fab who was courteous, amusing, knowledgable about the menu and thoroughly pleasant and hospitable. The tea selection was unusual but the one of a choice recommended to me was delicious. The cakes were lovely too.It was all absolutely delightful and especially considering how reasonably priced it was.I would totally recommend this place as a pleasant break from shopping or to intentionally seek out and enjoy.

I recently visited this Scoff & Banter Tea room which specialises only in afternoon tea. They are based on the first floor of The Radisson Hotel opposite Debenhams. The place was not too busy while we there (Saturday afternoon) and the atmosphere was chilled out and peaceful with lovely 1940'/50's music. The wait staff were just the right level of attentive - the young guy with glasses who we had offered great customer service. The food was plentiful and delicious - we took some of the scones home as it was so filling! You get to choose each item from a menu which means that you only get bits that you actually want unlike other afternoon tea places where it's sometimes a bit hit and miss with the selection. Desserts were a good size and really yummy. Would definitely recommend and will definitely go back soon.

We went here as a group of friends for afternoon tea, we highly recommend it. The menu is interesting and has had a great deal of thought put into it. I especially loved the vintage china they used. What sets it apart (aside from the traditional 3 tiers of sandwiches, scones and sweets) is that included in the price are two hot dishes to start. The sizes are dainty and you leave feeling full but not sick. The sandwiches were certainly the star of the show, I remember having a venison open sandwich that came with a gin and tonic flavoured garnish - it's definitely not the bog standard egg mayo / cucumber fillings! The tea menu was unique; I never would have thought I'd drink a tea that tastes like tiramisu. The service was good and not stuffy, even though there was a mix up on one of the orders, our waiters sorted that out in a jiffy and they always had smiles on their faces. The price for Central London was reasonable. Toilets: 5/5 very clean and modernOverall verdict: look forward to going back with my family.

The layout helps too as you don't feel cramped.I would say this is either a ladies or date venue. The food here is nice but the portions are on the small sizeMy favourites from the menu are:Sticky Beijing fillet of beefSteak, balsamic onions, toasted multigrainThe pecan and chocolate scones I tried were nice but nothing special although the jams were good, plenty of fruit. I wish I had chosen the chocolate whisky cake but had the rhubarb and raspberry jelly which were nice but again nothing special.

I'm not a big fan of afternoon tea. I love the tradition, but I've always felt that paying £30-40 for a cup of tea basic sandwiches and average cakes is a bit of a rip off. Until I've visited Scoff & Banter! The new Tea Rooms in the Radisson Blu are a few levels up from the other hotel afternoon teas I've tried so far in London and are truly special. The first thing that won my heart is that you don't buy a pre-prepared pack. You can design your own set (by picking 2 items from each of four sections).Secondly, apart from cold sandwiches, scones and cakes, you start with little portions of delicious hot food.We were welcomed with a glass of prosecco followed by a tea (leaf teas from Newby Teas). There 12 different teas to choose from, from the traditional to less known flavours, served in cute porcelain crockery from Bombay Duck (available to buy on the site). I went for a lavender tea, which was a bit too herby for my taste, but the milk oolong, for example, was delicious. While we were sitting and comparing the teas, the food started to arrive. I've started with an warm caramelised onion tart, which was so delicate and crumbly and full of flavour that I could have eat five more. Lobster and brandy soup was served in a shot and although I didn't taste the brandy, it was great.I've also tried spiced scallop and Oysters Rockefeller served with herbs and crispy seaweed, both were both amazing. Most of the stuff was served in a size of a one bite portion, but believe me, at the end of the evening you will be super full and satisfied.Next came the scones, sandwiches and cakes. Again, scones were miniature, but you get 4 of them, they are freshly baked and you can choose between pecan and apple, orange and a few other unusual flavours. They are obviously served with clotted cream and preserves, we got rhubarb and ginger and strawberries. As for the desserts, I chose trifle with roasted balsamic strawberries and sticky pudding with peanut butter ice cream and macadamia brittle. As for the sandwiches, you won't get bored. They are served on various breads, and so you have rye bread, focaccia, bagel, anything but usual. The oak smoked ham with gin and tonic relish was outstanding! The whole evening was accompanied by a live music, which was a nice touch. The staff was absolutely lovely and attentive, patiently explaining all the foods they were serving and generally treated us like a bunch of princesses. So if you visit London and want to try a proper British afternoon tea, look no further.

The location of Scoff and Banter is just off Oxford Street, very easy to find. We were greeted at the reception of the Radisson and directed to go to the first floor where the beautifully designed Scoff and Banter is located. We were greeted by the Maitre d who seated us and explained the full tea menu and also made some great recommendations. Our waiter Justas was fantastic again made great recommendations on what was available; later on he even came to let us know when his shift had finished and that his colleague would be looking after us for the rest of our visit, no one has ever done that before; exceptional customer service. The menu we had selected allowed us to choose two hot dishes, two scones, two sandwiches and two desserts; the sticky toffee pudding is a must!!!Everything we had ordered was exceptional we were there for over two hours but we were never rushed. It's a must go to place perfectly located if you're shopping for the day and want to take afternoon tea.

It was difficult to find the tearoom which is actually in the Radisson Hotel (just say so on your directions!!) -- but my daughter and I had a great and very interesting Sunday lunch once we settled in. The menu is not an ordinary one -- for Afternoon Tea, select two items from each of four columns. Two lists were pretty clear -- scones and desserts -- and there were gluten-free options for my daughter. The first column presented a variety, and we ordered Lobster Soup and Egg Florentine (me) -- lamb chop and Chinese beef (daughter). The fourth list was sandwiches. Much of the food was EXCELLENT and the service could not have been more attentive (including comp glasses of prosecco).Allow yourself time to figure this place out -- well worth it!
