Es un pub bonito en la city londinense donde sirven con mucha tranquilidad -45 minutos esperando- una comida más bien infumable Pedimos unos calamares fritos y unos fish and chips… Lis primeros los devolvimos por infames. Parecían trozos de goma recubiertos de un churro grasiento… Los devolvimos y, eso si, tuvieron el detalle de no cobrarlos. Debe de hacer sitios mejores para tomar fish and chips.

My go to pub in the city and always have the same table by the door. beer is always good and the atmosphere never fails as always busy. Staff attentive and professional As i said my fave Pub Enjoy Marcus

Rude member of staff who seemed to think it is acceptable to literally push people out of their way rather than say "excuse me". Horrible experience all round.

We waited over an hour for our starter to arrive and a similar length of time for the main course. I was asking the staff to give me a doggy bag as I had to leave. The place clearly cannot cope with a large group. Building work in the main bar did not stop at lunchtime so you couldn't hear yourself speak above the sawing and drilling.

Excellent service and food. Wanted a pub with a great atmosphere and we found it here. A really good experience in a good London pub. Even the loos were lovely as per the photo

Limited menu allows the chefs to make superstars of every dish. Well presented and taste sensation! They have SERIOUSLY upped their game food wise post lock down. The manager Jose, creates a warm and friendly atmosphere and is able to confidently recommend wines from his lengthily experience in the London restaurant business.

Visited for drinks, unfortunately, the table layout, bar position and the space to drink is very poor. To top it off, staff routinely get annoyed at patrons who stand and drink in these areas. If you don't want people to drink in certain places, perhaps do not put the tables in those places? Exactly where am I meant to stand or sit when I occupy a table? Not enough staff serving led to longer queues and a crush near the bar. Not very well spaced out and, with the exception of the bar staff, the other staff were pretty rude. Lay the the place out to work better for your staff and please stop them blaming the hapless customer who is simply try to find a suitable space to drink

We stopped here on a Wednesday afternoon for drinks. Its a great old fashioned Fullers Pub with high ceilings and lots of space, along with a wide choice of drinks. A great afternoon!

Fantastic service. Shown to large table and greeted with complementary pork crackling! Superb! Nice sandwich lunch and excellent Argentinian Mendoza Merlot. These little added touches (pork crackling) make a huge difference and went down very well and caused a real buzz!!

Normally, if I pop to a pub for lunch (Christmas or not) I don't bother leaving a review. A pub is a pub is a pub. But this so impressed me from start to finish, I have decided to leave a short "well done". Greeted on arrival with really friendly member of staff, got served quickly, good beer (Hophead). Lunch for 8 and I ordered the pork belly (so, so easy to absolutely ruin and make unpalatable - but I took my chance) - it was perfect. Really, really perfect. And this is coming from a Devon lad who grew-up on a farm (bit more flavour may-be....... but cooked to absolute perfection). Veggies were great. Sauce was great. The little guy who looked after our table was great. My 'acid test' is "would I go back" - and this place gets a David Walliams 110% yes!

Hey...I go out a lot, to the very high end and everything in between to a dirty burger after a night out...and fortunately all over the world. (feel free to read my recent posts) I have earned the right to an opinion. This is the first time I have ever given a "poor" rating in over 200 reviews. Why,? because fundamentally people want to be kind and nice, and that includes me. TripAdvisor, for me, is about being honest and giving people the benefit of your experience. And judging by other reviews here there are a range of experiences at The Tokenhouse. Fine. I also usually wait a few hours or overnight to write my review - to let the experience settle, think of something vaguely witty to say in the pursuit of those "helpful" votes. But tonight I have barely come through the door and I feel compelled to write NOW!! This was an unmitigated disaster of an experience, and maybe they were having a bad day, but really? ...for all this to have gone wrong there is something systemically wrong. We were 11, on a work dinner. We'd booked a room, and pre-selected our menu choices. A bit dull having to choose a future meal having just had breakfast a week before, but OK, needs must. It was only when we arrived that we learned that our "room" had been sold to another event. OK...and oh yes, the menu had changed so those dishes you can't remember ordering a week ago, you can't have them now. Lucky I'd forgotten! OK...so we'll keep it simple and have a sharing platter for the table and everyone can knock themselves out on the main course. Oh yes, and wine, that should help. (No offer of a complimentary bottle for the considerable inconvenience thus far). Wine first...we ordered a bottle of Argentinian Red and a French White. We received a French Red and a French White. 50% right. How about we now start serving the main courses before the sharing platter? OK, take them away and bring the platter. Perhaps not everyone had noticed! Sometime soon the Iceland Christmas ads will start tempting us with their platters for a fiver etc. This would have been a serious upgrade from the £50 fat-ball that arrived. All very beige - even the cauliflower! Ok bring back the mains ... and they were "bringing back the mains", I recognised my veal escalopes. That's a generous description, as that is what they were called on the menu. The reality is that they were more akin to a Chicken McNugget passed underneath a steamroller. Hunger has you eat most things, and I ate it all. Chef is probably thinking that all is OK in then world. It's not!! We were actually saved having to labour our way through puddings by the kitchen closing at 8.45 p.m. - phew, and I chose to swerve the coffee. (Currently having a nice cup of tea and a digestive biscuit at home (9.55 pm). I did have a slight premonition of disaster when on arrival I saw a blackboard which said "Christmas Party? Book now, selling out fast". Hmmmm...that is like "don't tell me you're funny, tell me a joke". The Tokenhouse is probably a great after work boozer and they probably do that well. On tonight's showing I would suggest sticking to what they know. Where else could I get value for around £25 a head? - where do I start? Bill's, Cafe Rouge, Ask, Carluccio's etc etc. Sorry guys, that is my honest review...and I'm glad that I have got it off my chest.

Der Pub ist sehr groß und immer gut besucht. Man bekommt hier sehr gutes Essen und auch eine große Auswahl an Getränken. Der Espresso nach dem Essen sehr zu empfehlen. Gerne wieder.

A fullers pub serving good food. Finally I have found s good place to take clients in the city that is not charging a fortune for nothing very special. This is a great pub, great food, great staff and great beers.

Really liked it here. We were looking for somewhere to drink in the area for a catch up and walked past The Tokenhouse. I have worked in the area a little while, but had not visited. Nice pub and big place. Drinks were priced ok and the pork scratchings and olives were great snacks. I would visit again.

We held our Daughters wedding reception at the Tokenhouse January 2019. Great food, great atmosphere,spotlessly clean, they really could not do enough for us. From the very outset they could not have been more accommodating and helpful. Everyone had a memorable and great time for all the right reasons. All I can say is a huge thank you to all the Staff there, they were fantastic.

My first visit here and a good one. Mrs.Electric and I dined here with two friends for our Christmas meet up. It was VERY busy and yet somehow the team who were working there held it together.I would like very much to highlight Jean-Luc for such a personal warm welcome, and the Electric spotlight MUST also illuminate our waiter Jose from Portugal who was fantastic. He was almost painfully busy and yet STILL managed to look after us with style, professionalism and Humour. What a great guy. Definitely one of Portugal's finest exports. Well done!!!

Visité el tokenhouse para cenar con mis amigos. La comida era normal y el servicio también. Pedimos unas copas inicialmente seguidas por algunos entrantes. Los entrantes pudieron haber sido mejores. Las hamburguesas que pedimos como platos principales no eran nada especial, pero simplemente promedio. A pesar de que no era una noche ocupada o un restaurante ocupado, a los camareros les resultaba difícil lidiar con algunas mesas ocupadas.¿Volvería de nuevo? Probablemente un no.

Came to have a lunch meal with my colleague and we weren’t specting such a good service. The waitress name was Patricia, she made our day. Highly recommended

Hadn’t been to The Tokenhouse for a couple of years; so had an evening meal there with some colleagues recently. The food was very good, especially the fish I had. Fresh and succulent. The wine selection had improved too; tasty stuff!

Called in for a light lunch and a beer. Good food, noisy environment (where in London isn't) and quick table service. Good value Pub.

Used the Tokenhouse on numerous occasions. Food always good and plenty of seating. We held a small event downstairs and we were very well looked after by the staff. It is London prices but what do you expect in the city.

Pero supongo que si la fábrica está haciendo tan bien es feliz pagando por un lugar donde el personal casi igual el número de clientes y el número de mesas vacías sin duda de los números de los clientes. La cerveza es buena pero muy cara (incluso a precios de la ciudad), la comida sólo puede ser descrita como clásica mal comida frita pub. Y si no quedará sin pan rústico para servir con el plato de carne tienen el frente de cajones y no sustituir con una ligera tostado rebanada delgada de pan blanco presente. . . . . . . . . . . .

Popped in for a light lunch on the way home on a day off. Pub looks amazing,menu looks nice however the vegan option is not clearly stated on the it. Could do with an extra 1 or 2 veggie/vegan option on the menu. Victorie (french girl, absolutely lovely) was an amazing server, made sure that my dish is vegan, nothing was too much trouble. I can only recommend the place! I'll deffinetaly come back if I'm in the area again.

Nos detuvimos en para la cena un martes por la noche, el lugar es agradable, la cerveza era buena, personal era muy servicial y amable. Pescado y patatas fritas, y tengo que decir que estaban un poco grasiento, utilizada para que esta reproducción empanada crujiente y no era de primera categoría.

Popped in here with 3 friends for lunch and a couple of beers. The staff were very friendly and once we were at the table drinks were bought to us without anyone waiting very long after finishing their drink. We had various items of the menu and all of us were happy with what we had ordered and the variety of food. It isn't cheap here but you get what you pay for and it is in the City. Would return

Tenemos un concurso anual para la última pub y dos años hemos ido a la Tokenhouse. Alquilamos el sótano y para ser honestos, es un espacio perfecto - íntimo, de buen tamaño y un montón de espacio para los equipos. La zona es preciosa, muy cómoda y agradable iluminación ambiental. El bar es estupendo y la comida es excelente. El servicio también fue excelente. Necesitamos un sistema de micrófono y música para nuestro concurso y el equipo eran muy serviciales en mostrarnos qué hacer y cómo usarla. Fue fabuloso y funcionaba muy bien. Quisiera mencionar que Christina y su equipo eran increíbles en entorno y ayudando durante toda la noche. No podíamos haber pedido más. Al final del concurso, todos fuimos muy contentos en parte gracias a un maravilloso servicio.

My colleagues and I enjoyed a fantastic evening last night in the downstairs bar of this welcoming watering hole.I can't praise Laura enough, she was absolutely fantastic! With a charming smile on her face she served not only our party of 33 but also an additional party and numerous other customers who frequented the bar. Not once was she flustered, she remained professional, efficient and charming throughout the entire evening.......a real star!There was a great atmosphere with all the guests having an enjoyable time, mingling with other customers and enjoying the ambiance.One of the highlights of the evening was the arrival of the food. We had ordered in advance to ensure there was a varied selection for everyone to enjoy. Well presented, hot and delicious, not the usual fare you're served in a pub.We are all very much looking forward to our next visit.Thank you very much!

Came here for a partners Birthday and it started off badly after a guy at the bar accused us of taking his drinks, after getting the barmaid to explain we paid for them it seemed that everyone knew everyone and not being a regular we felt a little put out. Went to the table to meet the rest of the group and sadly they had been placed downstairs which was a shame as the DJ was upstairs and it felt a little out of the way to be, would've been much better upstairs.The night progressed and everyone seemed to leave about 9-930 which left it feeling very empty.**Offered to buy the barman a drink and he chose the most expensive vodka shot at nearly £6, then when i paid for it he didn't even pour it out so god knows what i even paid for, this left me feeling put out with the hump**Would i go here again, based upon that experience, probably not, it seems like an after work City workers bar

Came with colleagues to celebrate my friends birthday but was just too loud! We couldnt here ourselves talk- had to keep shouting all the time! The music was just too loud.

My partner and I went to Jamie Oliver's Italian on Threadneedle street the previous evening and the food was less than adequate. However, the following day we decided to go to Tokenhouse and the food was amazing. We had Rib-eye steak which was cooked to perfection, well seasoned and wonderfully filling. My partner had traditional fish and chips which he truly enjoyed. I have to admit that it was an amazing meal and I would recommend it to anyone in the area. The service was lovely and the entire space was clean and tidy. We will be coming back for sure :)

I had a quick lunch at tokenhouse with some colleagues, service is nice however i was not impressed by the food. I request the special and was terminated ( at 1 pm) so i chose the cassoulet: Very heavy, beans was not well cooked and the meat was practically 2 small pieces. I had not tried dessert. The place is nice and modern.

Location is good, very central.In the evenings it gets packed with people having an after work drink.Nothing to write home about. As pubs go it is standard fare, decent food, decent selection of drinks. Table service is worthy of note.

This pub is right in the heart of the City of London. So the majority of its patrons are city workers too. It's a perfectly pleasant pub, laid out over two floors.The food is standard pud grub, but of good quality, and served promptly.The bar-staff are friendly and hard-working. There may well be a lot of customers at the bar at a time, especially in the early evening, meaning that waiting times are long; but that is more the fault of the management not hiring enough bar-staff rather than the bar-staff themselves.This pub has a very 'new' interior, and so doesn't feel very characterful. There are a lot of pubs in this area, including just across the road and just behind it, and I would not choose this one unless there were a specific reason to do so - like someone else organised an event there.It's not a bad pub, just nothing special.

Very friendly, pleasant staff just to few of them. Service really, really slow to the point there was a ten min wait between mains and sides arriving which wasn't great. Food was ok. The ambience and decor is good, and the central location's a plus.

Wasn't very busy we i popped in for breakfast. The service was a bit slow and it was quite cold inside the resturant. Food was ok nothing outstanding.

This is a nice place to have a meal and/or drink in the City. Although it is a big place, it does not feel like it. There's even more room, that is a bar, in the basement. The open kitchen makes you feel at home. I was there for a quick lunch in between meetings, and had really nice homemade tortellini. The coat rack is small and very well hidden.

Went here last night with a friend.The place was packed out .We managed to get a table with the help of the Manager.The staff and the Manager were very helpful and the food was nice.A DJ arrived and set up next to us and it all became rather loud .This is a great place for a crowd who dont want much conversstion but wouldnt recommend it for people who want to chat unless you go early afternoon.

Came here for lunch to meet a friend who works in the neighbourhood.The interiors were large and welcoming. We were greeted and seated quickly and when my friend mentioned that she only had 30 minutes break for lunch, they even served our hot meals very quickly.I had a Touluse sausage on a bed of Puy lentils with a side of garlic mushrooms that was lovely. My friend ordered a sandwich which was quite large and came with fries. The fries were really good and I kept stealing some from her plate.I'm normally skeptical of pub lunches, but the menu had a good range of dishes and the food here was much better than the average pub.

I came here for lunch with five work colleagues the other day. It's a Fullers pub near the Bank of England serving up a largely uninspiring selection of pub grub. I went for the fish & chips, which was ok though the batter was a bit soggy and the fish rather watery. My colleagues had a variety of dishes ranging from a couple of fairly uninspired pasta dishes to a not so super superfood salad. Although it all went down the hatch there were no cries of delight or exclamations of joy. Rather underwhelming really. Service was also pretty poor being slow and less than friendly. The only reason I would return is that the proximity to the office makes it very handy for a quick(ish) lunch out.

We choose this pub partly because of the good food reviews. We had the '3 for £12' sharing plates. We got: 4 smallish prawns, 3 very small neck of lamb skewers, a small portion of fries. It all tasted nice, but very small portions and there was nothing with any vegetables or any salad/greenery to pick on the entire sharing menu. You definitely wouldn't feel comfortable having a meal here on Friday night as too packed and nowhere to sit properly at a table.Aside from that the pub was nice and the bar staff polite and welcoming.

A great place to hold my leaving drinks. The Events Manager was very helpfuland efficient with the booking arrangements and suggesting the best location within the venue to hold the drinks according to numbers expected. Staff on the night ensured that the occasion went smoothly and provided excellent bar service.

Had a business lunch there, and ticked pretty much every box. Great atmosphere, clean, open, but still plenty of spaces for booth dining for parties of 4-6. Downstairs is a great bar & entertainment area with plenty of little alcoves, just right for after-work functions. Food - -great! Simple English bistro menu with a cosmopolitan flare, not adventurous or overstated, but done well. The staff are polite, swift, friendly and professional - exactly what you would expect in an eatery that aims (quite successfully) for the professional around Moorgate & Liverpool Street. Worth a look

This is not your standard pub ,good range of beers ,good choice of cocktails great food nicely presented but the shining star of this establishment is the staff

Das Tokenhouse hat leckeres Essen. Aber das ist schon das Beste, was ich sagen kann. Leider war die Portion vom Lamm nicht wirklich groß. Das eher abschreckende. Es war Laut. Lauter als in so mancher Disco. Die Serviererin hat mich wegen der lauten Musik so gut wie gar nicht verstanden. Weil die Musik so laut war musste sich natürlich das Publikum auch laut unterhalten.Also eher anschreien. Das hat für mich nichts mit gemütlicher Pubathmosphäre zu tun und hat meine Frau und mich schnell vertrieben.

Visited here recently, it was a Monday evening so not excessively busy. Staff really friendly and helpfulHad a sharer, 6 items for £20, really tasty - these can often just be deep fried rubbish, but these were all really good. Definitely recommend. Nice surroundings, decent pint and good food.

Although the Tokenhouse is a pub it feels more like a smart middle-range restaurant. Excellent food at reasonable prices with good service. Generally quiet but better to make a reservation to avoid disappointment.

One of my team chose this location for our monthly team drinks. Too be honest I wasn't looking forward to it as I thought it would be just another City type bar/pub but I was blown away by the exceptional service. On arrival we were greeted by a very friendly member of staff who arranged us a seating area and couldn't do enough for us. Then we received excellent service from a lovely friendly waitress even though we were just in for drinks, Every bar/pub should send their staff here for training in how to look after their customers. Cant wait to return soon. My new favourite city bar/pub!Well done to the management and its lovely staff

Welcoming and efficient waiter service at this smart pub with a traditional menu. Book a table as Friday lunchtime is popular. We chose the onglet steak and crispy duck salad, although not realising that the duck would be cold, both dishes were good. Cheesecake and sticky toffee pudding to follow - safe but reliable. Vouchers were available on line for some drinks but we struggled for just a half pint of cider which seemed odd. Overall a good time at a smart, well cared for and centrally located gastro pub with attentive staff.

I broke with tradition and tried it for the first time a couple of days back. A menu full of some English staples well executed and with excellent service. Brisk and attentive without being intrusive. I believe the waitresses initials may have been 'MZ' and she was outstanding.The fish and chips were really good and the coffee was surprisingly decent.Unfortunately this now means I am less likely to go to the Trading House on Gresham St!

My boyfriend and I came here for our lunch break. He booked, but it wasn't terribly busy. We had tried to pre-order but whoever answered the phone claimed they wouldn't be able to as they were very busy which is fair. It's a nice place inside! it doesn't stick out, and I've passed it several times thinking it was just a pub rather than somewhere to go for lunch. It's spacious and grand looking inside. We were seated by a window that looked straight into the kitchen so we could see the chefs at work. They served us quickly anyway, we only wanted water to drink and knew what we wanted to order as we'd be slavering over the menu all morning. We ordered chicken salads, one with bacon, one without and some garlic potatoes and mac and cheese on the side. We ordered sides because we assumed the salad would be minimal and we are quite big eaters. However, when the salad came, I kid you not, it was larger than me. It had more meat on it than salad- tons of chicken, feta, avocado- ingredients restaurants are normally stingy with- and when I looked over at my boyfriend's, it was showered in bacon. Our sides came shortly after and we felt in above our heads.We shovelled it all down groaning with satisfaction. I have never felt so full from a salad before! Even my boyfriend was struggling and he hadn't yet touched his potatoes. When he did get round to them his eyes almost watered they were so good. My Mac and cheese was tasty as well- not too cheesy or the BEST Mac I've had but it went down very well. The sides stayed warm for the duration of our meal too, as they came in hot clay bowls. Very nice. We were in Tolkenhouse for a total of about fifty minutes and I enjoyed every second; the food, the service, the ambiance! I could imagine loads of business lunches and there- and actually want to return for drinks and an evening meal. It is quite pricey, but that's to be expected for Bank. Would 100% go back.

I was included as a late addition to a lunch party last week - only 4 of us. On the way there all they could talk about was the special of the day - Lobster. Not something that excited me but nice to hear that they have daily specials.When we arrived, were quickly seated (we were a little late for our booking and they were about to give the table away) - the bar area was busy and buzzing but not too packed.Great menu - good variety and not too much but all sounded really interesting - I plumbed for the salad (being good), there were two lobsters and a Rabbit (3 ways) with some sides. When the food arrived - the lobster looked good (a little small but not really surprising for £15/half), the rabbit also looked good - though he did think it was chicken! But my Duck and Hazelnut salad was superb, very often you get food envy but this time I was happy.Beers for the guys looked good, other tables were having Fish & Chips which looked fab.Very comfortable pub/restaurant, good service and great menu/food - I will be back

Have been to The Tokenhouse a number of times for drinks, but had lunch there this week. The service and food was very enjoyable, especially for work conversations. Convenient and fresh; well recommended

Nice Fullers' pub with an extensive menu and good quality food. service was pleasant and efficient. Made to feel welcome and there is a good ambience. Prices are OK for the City too.

Visited three times with three different crowds over the last couple of weeks. It is Xmas...Beer (Camden Pale Ale) fantastic. Room bright and airy. Staff friendly and food good.Not badly priced for this part of town.Recommended.

Nicely styled inside with modern feel with exposed ceiling and reasonable size bar area. Emphasis looks to be food as lots of comfortable seating. Areas to book for gatherings and a cellar bar too. Pride was good but a bit dearer than some places I have visited in the area. Low level music not intrusive. Near major financial area so probably popular with city types.

10 of us had a relatively enjoyable lunch at Tokenhouse. The pub was very busy, it being Christmas and all but the staff seemed to cope quite well. Most thought the flat iron steak was chewy, my slow cooked lamb very well cooked and tender although on the lukewarm side.

Only had drinks before heading off to Hawksmoor for dinner, and thought it was a really great place.High ceilings, lots of room despite being very busy.Staff in general are all lovely, polite and very helpful. Very nice and unusual for a big bar to get a load of friendly people! Well done and credit to management.Drinks reasonable in price, but the best thing was the music, the dj was awesome.

I came here looking for some pub food after drinks in the City, but the finding was most of the menu had sold out. The straw that broke the camel's back was the chicken caesar salad which I'd ordered later turned out to be unavailable due to a lack of chicken too. The starters were tasty however, and as a pub this place has a great atmosphere. But if you're coming here for the food, don't bother.

Absolutely superb food - imaginative, delicious and nicely presented. The staff are attentive and polite and it's a great ambience and environment.

I headed to Tokenhouse just last night for a leaving do and loved it.Large and spacious inside, clean and fresh decor and well laid out for big groups of city workers.Got served at the bar quickly, the large food sharing platters were also good and well presented.Toilets are downstairs but are nice, clean and roomy.All in all a cracking pub.Helpful Hint: have a large glass of the picpoul de pinet! Go in the week, book an area in advance....

Nice pub with good service and beers and snack food. Music at just the right level to allow people to chat as well as enjoy the ambience. I like to meet people here as convenient for Moorgate and Bank tube.

We have recently moved offices so this is now the new staff canteen.!!Good range of beers and a subtly different menu from The Vintry (also a Fullers pub which was the old canteen).Burgers are excellent as is the salt beef sandwich. I have also had the fish and chips in there which are great too.A really decent boozer that does nice food too.

I have been in the Tokenhouse a few times. The place is on the corner of Moorgate. I had the Chicken salad, which was delicious. They also have a cellar bar that is a lot quieter than the bar on ground level. They also do not mind if you go in for a quick pint before you need to go elsewhere. More than likely I will use it again when next in the City.

By the bank of England this is a gem of a gastro pub. Large and on 2 levels, the decoration is classy and contemporary and the staff are really friendly and helpful. Great selection of beers and the food is fantastic. I had cod with muscles, my colleague had fish and chips. Cannot fault this place. Highly recommended.

Ate and had drinks here. The staff were great and the atmosphere and building is nice. They have some decent beers. It's only a three out of five for me as the food was average at best, then add on the price... I wouldn't eat here again, but would drink/meet people.

Good location in the city and obviously aimed at city workers, lots of enclosed areas which does not help the atmosphere, which was pretty stale. Beer range ok, a bit expensive, but along with the menu, it's aimed at it's target Market. All in all it's just a posh pub.

Me and a friend came here last week for a catch up lunch. Menu is scarse with choice but we eventually found something we fancied. The food was very lovely and full of flavour. Sadly the let down was the staff, it took over 20mins for us to get our bill! The atomsphere is ok in here.

Spent a lovely afternoon and evening in The Tokenhouse.Good beers, comfy seating, great atmosphere and staff who take your orders and bring your drinks to you.Really great place and I am sure we will back.

Popped in here for lunch with my sister. Very quickly seated and served, which is great for a quick lunch. Limited menu but should be something for everyone. Had the chicken salad and was huge and very tasty. Good choice of beers and ales and pretty reasonable price. Very clean and good atmosphere. Essentially an up-market pub which manages to accommodate the casual drinker with someone who wants to eat without making either group feel second class.

Visited the Tokenhouse, slightly against my better nature as I know many good local, authentic pubs, but wanted a quick drink on the way home - It is convenient being near Bank, but disappointing and I won't choose it again.Had a reasonable pint of London Pride and some peanuts - £7.35 - but you do get a lot of peanuts said the barmaid - sadly they weren't nice though.Overpriced, relying on location but probably OK if you are with a crowd.

This is a big venue on Moorgate down towards Bank Station. The main upstairs bar and dining area is quite big, slightly confusing and intimidating. The sort of place that would be easier if you arrived as a part of a group. It was hard to work out which the bar/drinking area and which was the restaurant area.As it turned out our table was downstairs. This was very quiet and quite dark there were perhaps only four other people there. This was a lunch time at the end of the week. There was a guy in kitchen whites lying on the couch.The staff were attentive and well mannered but often during our meal there was no one serving at all - not even behind the bar.The stuffed squid was tasty and not too tough. The fish pie was okay. Both made up in quantity what they may have lacked in charm or finesse. The steak tartar was actually pretty good. The wine was quite drinkable and surprisingly good value.Overall nothing special. But location, spaciousness and an atmosphere that suggests untapped potential made it a pretty good find.

I stumbled upon this bar by accident, on the way back home from a client meeting and wish I had found this bar sooner. It is located near Bank station, making it a convenient spot. What i enjoyed about the bar was the ample space that it had for its customers to mix and mingle without feeling overly crowded. The music is also not too loud so it encourages an atmosphere for business/after-work drinks.

We had had a busy day in London and were in need of a rest before heading home, so this was a welcome place to stop and have a drink. As London goes, it is not expensive and the atmosphere is very pleasant and cosy. Staff at the bar were a little dozy but another member of staff was happy to take further drinks orders at the table, which was a nice touch.

Get there early as it'll get pretty packed later on. Great looking place with loads of character - a big roomy ground floor and equally large basement. It's a bit like all bar one drink wise - posh lagers catered for and a few bitters on the pump (good pint of seafarers). The seating is fairly plush and well placed and you can reserve. Very clean overall and fast and efficient barstaff - good place to visit for sure.

Christmas lunch for four friends. You have to order your food when you reserve, no other options offered on the day, no side dishes, appetizers etc.My starter salad looked and tasted like it had been made three days before and left in the fridge, all a bit limp and tired. Vegetarian main course was Cauliflower cheese - that was it, a starter size portion and nothing else. Dessert was filling, service okay. With a couple of glasses of wine this came to over £50.00. Definitely going somewhere else next year.

We were here for a company lunch for 50 of us which normally can be difficult. The service was great and the food great too. I was really pleasantly surprised. A great lunch, we all enjoyed it.

Was at The Tokenhouse for a wedding on 25th Oct.Couldn't fault anything. The food served was excellent.; not the usual cold buffet or standard chicken dinner type wedding fayre but a great selection of hot dishes to suit all tastes.The staff were attentive, constantly and discreetly topping up drinks.A mishap with the wedding cake-it collapsed- was rescued by the chef who managed to turn a seven tier high cake into a somewhat shorter and fatter concoction which still looked amazing!One guest who's famously curmudgeonly said it was the best wedding he'd ever been to!! Result! .

Had a great time at the Tokenhouse on Saturday night for my sisters Wedding bash. Its closed at the weekends when the city workers are all elsewhere so able to hire out the whole place. Venue worked really well with drinks and food upstairs and DJ downstairs a little later on. Lots of flow between upstairs / downstairs and space for everyone. Liked the sofa next to dance floor for when the feet got sore, but didn't want to miss out on the action! Food was yummy buffet of fish and chips / shepherds pie which went down a treat. I am sure they do much more sophisticated food normally in the restaurant, but bride and groom wanted simple yet tasty and not formal sit down. Yes needed a bit of decor to make it look a bit more 'wedding', but they were more than happy for us to come in the afternoon and put up bunting / balloons etc and bring in photo booth and other props. Staff very friendly - made some great cocktails, and sorted taxis for some guests to get home when Uber / Halo were failing at 1.30am. Would definitely recommend for a private party.

I did visit The Tokenhouse on a Friday night (thank goodness it wasn't payday week), so I had to brace myself for drunken city workers falling over each other, shouting and generally being obnoxious. The Tokenhouse is a great place to go if you work in the city, you like to shout and generally be obnoxious. Out of those three qualifiers, I like to think I only fall into the first category: I don't like shouting (my vocal chords are sensitive) and I hope I'm not obnoxious. Dinner with my team was fun, but we had to shout and I fought a constant battle with myself not to throw sharp objects at the rest of the clientele. But I'm an odd, sober sort, and my espresso-martini sipping colleagues didn't seem to mind. The food was that typical 'we're really a bar disguised as a restaurant' food. Limp salad and a desert that tasted mainly of baking powder. The only saving graces were the DJ playing some classic 90's hip hop and RnB and the very sweet waitresses who were attentive and chirpy in a way I didn't think existed in London any more. If you want to get hammered and throw shapes to Warren G's 'Regulate', go here. If like me, you like sitting down and talking, and you enjoy edible food, don't go here.

I enjoyed my time into " The Tokenhouse " and i enjoyed my meal too !!Great staff and good beer !! The pub is not expensive ...what else do you want ??!?!!!

Had small party last friday...such good atmosphere , service very kind, great sharing paletters, love their porks ribs, great cocktails and dj playng kind of 90yrs selected music....think i m gonna have more party there will like to try theirs buffets options...

When in London last time we stopped here on our way back to our hotel, we enjoyed the sweet atmosphere of the place and the nice and friendly staff. We had a terrific steak with tasty and crispy chips which we accompanied by some very good Chianti. Their espresso was outstanding (and being Italian I can say that for sure). We definitely would go back. Recommended? Yep!

Great atmosphere and lovely staff. I'm usually very fussy with my drink and the bartender kindly offer to make me a special one. Which I love it. DJ on Thursday make the night even better. Where is really busy you can't walk properly make sure you order your round in advance. Thinking about having my bday party there.

I'm a regular at the tokenhouse and go every Thursday and Friday and couldn't praise the establishment highly. The food there is fantastic, the drinks are just as great with a wide selection of cocktails, and the atmosphere is second to none. The only downfall is they seemed to have lost that cute barman with the skinhead who was always helpful and full of life, and one of the reasons why I kept coming back, but that aside, I still go there and would advise you did too.
