Very friendly and considerate staff, great food, cosy atmosphere... A great pub!

We always pop in here when in Paddington. Good old school pub with nice staff and selection. They start pouring out drinks before we have closed the door behind us. Always popular and lively.

Great pub run by a very pleasant Irishman, with a lovely team of staff too. I’d definitely go back when in London next.

We went to this place searching for that pub atmosphere, specific to British people. I can say that I liked what we found. Cozy and friendly, filled with good vibes, it has good Pub food and a good selection of beers. Also, it has gluten-free options! It's nothing out of the ordinary, but if you want to spend some quality time with someone, I can clearly recommend this place.

We came across this pub searching for a local type of one close to the hotel we were staying in to have a pint. We were so satisfied that we returned the other evening to have dinner there (instead of anywhere in the city). The place seems authentic, and the staff is fantastic - super friendly, helpful, and fast - they found us a table during a crowded evening. The food is delicious, and it is an excellent value for money. We promised to return on the third day for lunch/ dinner, but unfortunately, we couldn't. If we return to London (which we plan to), we will return here!

Been to this restaurant on numerous occasions and all I've ever had is nothing short of 1st class service.sharnie is in my opinion one of the best bar and restaurant managers in the business.nothing is too much trouble fpr her and from what I see she has a fantastic working relationship with all her staff.i would highly recommend this venue for special nights out(birthdays,business meetings etc) as the staff always go above and beyond to make sure your requirements are always met. Big thanks to sharnie and the staff for 1st class service.

Visited two nights in a row -- 7 and 8 February 2024 when down on a London visit. First night we had food. Very good. Second night was for drinks only. Lovely friendly pub. Nice atmosphere.

I was looking for a pub for dinner and found it here without having to make a reservation. We were greeted by very nice service, we were given a table for two and the menu. The beer was very good, that's what I imagined, the burgers too, but the dessert was amazing. Cookie dough with ice cream... We felt very comfortable and ate and drank very well! Thank you!

If you are looking for local, British pub this is right place. Cosy atmosphere, variety of draft beers, snacks, helpful staff, all you need from local pub.

It was a great time, the customers and servers were cheerful and attentive, the pulled pork was tender and tasty, the meat with gravy sauce as well. We appreciated the fact that the waiters came back often to make sure everything was going well, or even to let black people taste the beers before choosing. Bravo, we could give 6 stars, and thank you. 🤩

We stayed here on two evenings as we were staying in the hotel opposite. Cozy pub with a mixed crowd, but partly older clientele or simply tourists like us. It was busy to full on both days, but you don't necessarily have to make a reservation. Guinness and wine are great, food is great too 👍🏻 (although tastes are different). We would definitely recommend it and would like to say thank you for the great and friendly service 👍🏻👍🏻.

Sorry for the late addition as I'm now filling in some reviews on a slow day in my travels. I stayed in the Hyde Park area of London for a couple of weeks around Christmas 2023 and this became my go to pub. Very nice staff all around. Most of the patrons were regular customers giving the Monkey Puzzle a truly authentic atmosphere compared to many of the central pubs. This is a great place for solid pub fare and a pint. The Monkey Puzzle is in easy walking distance to many hotels.

A must go everytime we end in London. Amazing food, super nice staff and perfect pub atmosphere.

My boyfriend has been visiting this pub for years as one of his local mates from home lived in Paddington for a long time and this was his local. We started going to the pub as a couple two years ago and coincidently on the week we first visited together his mate had passed away. The staff picked up on our accent and conversations and we have had the best welcome every since. I love this pub - the atmosphere and exceptionally the staff.

Unfortunately dogs are not allowed in the pub itself, only the beer garden. Looked amazing but did not get to have the experience. Rating is purely on policy on dogs and what we saw.

Świetny klimat, jeszcze lepsze jedzenie, a obsługa powoduje że czujesz się tam jak nie jak przypadkowy turysta, ale jak u siebie w domu. Absolutne MUST BE podczas wizyty w Londynie !!!

Can't really be fair about this pub. I love it, Not far from where I grew up. Still- a great pub slightly hidden away.

Nous avons découvert ce pub un peu par hasard, dans le quartier de Paddington. Après une journée de longues balades et de fatigue, entrer dans ce pub était comme rentrer à la maison. L'ambiance cosy, la gentillesse des serveuses, et, de ce que je crois, du patron aussi, étaient au rendez-vous. Je lui ai demandé de me proposer une bière typiquement anglaise, et le monsieur m'a servi trois verres de dégustation tout en m'expliquant les caractéristiques de chaque bière. Ce n'est pas tous les jours qu'on croise des gens aussi gentils, alors j'en suis reconnaissant. Par la suite, nous avons dîné d'un burger "pulled pork", quel délice ! Accompagnés par la chaleur du pub, une ambiance amiable et une bonne pinte, nous avons vraiment profité de ce moment.

Exactly what you want in a quiet comfortable English pub.

The places looks nice inside and out. I felt the customer service was poor and they seem to make us feel unwell. The drinks we ordered hand run out so was not happy.

A very traditional pub located in a modern building doing an excellent job of selling beer to the thirsty! Sedate and tranquil, The Monkey Puzzle (named after the tree?) in Paddington is a great pub, thank you for being there. 🙃

Really awesome pub. We visited London for a holiday and had a hotel near "The Monkey Puzzle". We went there three times and had a great time with really delicious food, good drinks and playing card games all evening. The Staff was really friendly and tried her best to keep us happy. When visiting London again, we will try to come back here.

Nice pub. Well seasoned standard pub fare.

Très bonne expérience au Monkey Puzzle. Les serveuses présentés étaient très sympathiques, et les plats étaient bons. Nous avons commandé des steaks saignants accompagnés de frites, salade et onions rings et nous étions ravis. Les desserts sont gourmands sans être too much. Et c'est l'une des rares adresses du centre de Londres qui accepte encore l'espèce !

Popped for a couple of drinks as I was at an event around the corner. Found this on Google pubs near me. Very traditional london old school boozer. Great selection of beers and ales and home cooked food. Good for a sports bar, I guess, as all the World Cup Flags hanging up. Bar lady is polite and courteous, and this is hard to find these days. Home cooked food is available too. Big patio garden out back also. Great pint of Morretti.

Trivelig pub med god lokal stemning. Greie lokaler og hyggelig betjening. Kjøpte hamburger, og den var saftig og god. Kunne gjerne hatt med noe mer salt og pepper.

This spot is a great find. Not only is the location good but the food, staff, manager, owner, drinks and the pub itself is amazing! Super welcoming, clean, friendly, good price. You felt like nothing was a hassle and you felt welcome.

I've been to the Monkey Puzzle a number of times while in London, first time in 2002. I can honestly say I love having a quite beer in the bar, but, the food when I was there last time was poor and over priced, the beer was good but coming from Australia it too was expensive, saying that I plan to be in the Puzzle in August but not to eat. GG

Popped in here for a quiet pint whilst on business in London. Quite busy and a nice traditional type pub club feel. Staff were friendly and the food going out to tables looked good. A huge let down is the smokers smoking near the doors and the smoke blowing in through from the beer garden. This spoilt what could be a really good place near Paddington station to get food and drink. If this is sorted then I will return to review again. Nice pint and decent value.

Lovely as ever. Limited space in beer garden. Kind staff. I've been visiting this place, on and off, for a quarter of a century. Very convenient for Paddington Station. And Hyde Park. Never eaten here tho' Edit:2023 came here on a quiet Sunday afternoon. Beer garden was pretty quiet. Staff called over to tell me I can't bring my bike into the beer garden and need to leave it outside. I wasn't leaving my bike at the mercy of thieves. So I didn't stay and probably won't visit this place again Edit 22nd Aug - Owner responded with apologies. Have corrected initial review to say there is limited space in the beer garden

What a lovely welcoming place, good service and atmosphere. Not too many veggie choices on the menu but my pizza was good.

Nice little pub with a beer garden. The food menu was small, but great for my family…… the Lamb Burger was excellent and my daughter really enjoyed the Chicken Sandwich…. The value for money was spot on.

Great local pub close to Paddington but without the tourists. Didn’t eat, but drinks were great, reasonably priced and the staff were super friendly. Most pubs in the area have very limited outdoor drinking space, but they have a great, quite secluded little beer garden.

Great food, great cocktails, and the staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly as well as flexible with our requests.I had a lovely, extremely long lunch here with friends. Definitely recommended.
