Boyds Brasserie Bar & Lounge in City of London, Westminster

Esta es al menos la tercera vez que mi colega de trabajo y yo nos alojamos para una reunión con gente del Ministerio del Reino Unido. La ubicación es tan conveniente para 10 Downing y otros lugares. Dicho esto, mis momentos favoritos fueron después del trabajo y por las noches disfrutando de una fina pinta de Guinness y un 75 francés con Varsha como nuestro barman. Su personalidad y experiencia son inigualables y ella es una de las razones por las que nos alojamos en el Club Quarters Trafalgar. Recomiendo encarecidamente a cualquiera que se aloje aquí y obtener la experiencia Varsha!

We visited here after the theatre. Food was nice nit many people in when we were there so not much of an atmosphere. Staff were very courteous. To go to loo we had to get someone to sort the lift as hotel so not anybody could go up we had to have assistance. Overall experience was OK.

Tuvimos un tiempo maravilloso sentado en el bar. Varsha, nuestro servidor era tan agradable y amable. Un gran conversador que nos cuidó mucho y nos hizo bebidas fantásticas. Todo el mundo en el bar era extremadamente amable. Fue divertido conectar con otros asistentes al teatro y compartir nuestras experiencias. Un lugar muy amable y acogedor!

Wouldn't not return substandard food quality and poor service. Very disappointing experience.

Visited prior to a theatre showing, had to chase for bread on the table. When it arrived it was toast with a pot of oil. Over priced, cold meal, horrible atmosphere, cold, dark and overall terrible experience.

What spoiled our lovely meal - good portions nicely cooked food. Was that on the bill a 10% levy was charged - when we questioned this we were told it was to keep the prices down - but of course this is infact the opposite this is an additional charge - that we were advised we had to pay. Service charge was 5% and we could opt out of that ?? WHAT - you value your staff so little that you are happy for them firstly just to get 5% tips and you are not transparent with your pricing on the menu by adding this 10% levy on the bill. This was stated on the menu quite small at thebottom of the page but we had not noticed this and if we had would have questioned it before we started ordering. We spoke with the manager who advised us we had to pay the levy - which we did but we also added a further 5% tip - the staff had been lovely we know how hard those that work in this industry work. So beware if you go to this place and you are persuing their menu or if you are thinking of going you need to add 10% to each price to give you a true reflection of what you will pay.

Ate here on 11th Jan 24 evening, service was fine, not many diners for a Saturday so quite quiet, but meat was poor. We have a rib-eye steak and lamb chop, both were tough and the steak was very chewy. Not good sorry, and not good value for money.

Really great experience with the pre-theatre menu. Delicious food, especially the butternut squash starter and the deserts. Staff looked at the notes from the online booking and decorated a birthday dessert for my Dad without any prompting which was a lovely touch. Would definitely recommend, thank you.

The service was top class the attentive staff and overall ambience of the restaurant I couldn’t fault. However our food was disappointing the pork was dry and cold the trout was cooked very well but also cold. The service was fast from front of house the food must have left the kitchen cold. We felt that the value for money was not reflected.

We went for a pre theatre dinner. Service was prompt and courteous. The food was tasty and comforting. The location was very convenient for Trafalgar theatre.

This is a great place. Loved their lentil crust pie.

I thought we had booked for a pre theatre set menu but this does not operate on Saturdays. Not sure this was very clear when booking

We loved it at Boyd’s!! Had a pre-theatre dinner and bottle of wine. It’s so nice and quiet / spacious in the restaurant, the server was really attentive and friendly, the food was amazing!! (Had a salmon trio, sausage and mash and the cheesecake). All so delicious and homey/very filling. Would highly recommend!

Beautiful bar , lovely staff, Varsha was great at making espresso martini cocktails, I even tried a Baileys option for the first time which was lovely.

My wife is gluten free, this restaurant is in the dark ages with no information on the menu and when you ask almost everything has gluten in it. Same problem for the dairy intolerant friend with us. Definitely wouldn't go there again. Service very slow - it wasn't busy and still took almost an hour for the food to appear..

Based on Boyd's website, I had expected this to be a much classier and polished establishment. It was not. It took 20 minutes for someone to come to take our order for cocktails, more than 30 minutes after that for our cocktails to arrive. When the cocktails arrived, there was no cheese board that we had explicitly ordered as an accompaniment to our cocktails. Our server was clueless about where it was. 10 minutes later, a full hour after arriving, our cheese plate and all the dinners arrived at the same time. Who wants their appetizer cheese plate served at the same time as the main course? I told the manager there had been no attentiveness to a proper order of service for cocktails, cheese plate, dinner. The manager comped us on the cheese platter, but it was not something that went well with steaks. We wanted wine with our dinners, but no one ever returned to the table so we ate dinner without a bottle of wine. Frankly, we were glad to get out of there. The best that I can say is that this was basically a train station eatery. No table cloths, nothing special, lackluster service, noisy ambiance, no opportunity to order wine with dinner, no proper order of service. Very very disappointing. All I can say is the food was decent, but not great.

Nice spot for dinner. Beautiful atmosphere and great food menu. Cocktail program leaves a lot be desired with a small menu and underwhelming drinks.

Understand this for what it is and you might not be too disappointed. I thought it was a suitable place for pre-theatre meal as it looked relatively classy and trendy. It wasn’t. It’s a soulless hotel bar where they’ve laid out some tables for people that need to eat and perhaps don’t want to venture out far. I ordered the Hunters Chicken which as we all know, is grilled chicken breast with bacon and cheese on top. Only this wasn’t. This was a grilled chicken breast with a tin of tomato passata poured on top. Bland and boring, much like the venue. And then I decided to find the toilet. In a hotel, it can’t be hard, right? But of course it was hidden, probably to stop the public walking from the street to use them. A hotel Receptionist said “take the lift to the -1 level”. I got in the lift, and then, after riding with hotel guests to the 3rd floor, back to Ground, up to the 1st floor, back to Ground, I very stroppily went to Reception only to be told “yeah, pressing the button for -1 level won’t work if you don’t have a hotel room card to touch in”. Brilliant. Naturally I didn’t pay for the “Passata Chicken” and I wouldn’t go back in a hurry. Classic case of over promising and under delivering.

Perfect. Bar service was sublime. Atmosphere whilst early evening was great.

Al recibir la factura descubrimos que en lugar de los 12 anteriores. 5 % de tasa por servicios había una tasa adicional no discrecional del 10 % «para cubrir el aumento del precio de los alimentos» y luego una tasa por servicios del 5 % para el personal. On receiving the bill we discovered that rather than the previous 12.5% service charge there was an additional non-discretionary 10% levy “to cover the price of price and food increasing” then a 5% service charge for the staff. Charge the right prices. Don’t slip an additional charge on in the small print. It also shows how little they value their staff as they were clearly keeping the previous higher service charge. We won’t be back.

Good food & service, restaurant within hotel so nice and civilised, busy but not crowded or noisy

We ordered two Ribeye steaks, both of which were tough. Presentation of the meal was also below the standard one would expect in the middle of London in a good restaurant. Washroom facilities were in the basement, difficult to reach, having to request the service staff for a key to use the lift. The manager did compensate us for one of the Ribeye steaks. Whilst appreciated, it is not good for a Steak Restaurant to serve poor quality meat as one would assume they know their trade!!!

A beautiful hotel, an OK hotel breakfast, nothing you would tell your friends about but good enough for a morning meeting.

The food was fresh and flavorful, the service efficient, and the atmosphere cozy. A lovely spot for both casual dining and special occasions. Highly recommended!

Was served by Varsha who was able to accommodate us before our evening theatre performance. Not staying at the hotel, but was still welcoming all the same. Highly recommend!

My husband and I came to Boyd’s every night we were in London for drinks and/or dinner. Not only was the food great but Varsha made the world’s best Expresso Martini! She was one of the reasons we came back every night. Not only did she make a great drink but it was always served with a smile and conversation. We’ll definitely come back for Varsha and the great food and drinks!

The place was hopping with an unexpectedly large group. Varsha seated us at the bar immediately and at a table within 10 minutes. We ordered our meals which were delicious and portions plentiful. We are hotel guests and wished we had tried Boyd’s earlier in our stay. Thanks for the great service, Varsha and team!

Barstaff was amazing. Varsma was awesome with drink recommendations, good convo and touring suggestions. Nice bar, nice drink choices (some good whiskeys) would def return here next time I am back in town! Hotel staff amazing too!

Convenient for pre- theatre meal. Needed to be reminded of one item ordered but otherwise service friendly and reasonably timely. Lighting seems rather too subdued to the point where we struggled to read menus. Otherwise served its purpose for meeting up and pre theatre meal

Lovely meal and service yesterday. One of the staff named Sanju did a great job. He was excellent in serving people and treating them in.His positive attitude and dedication to ensuring a great dining experience.

I was looking for a smallish bistro but this is placed in a hotel. Lighting was subdued which made it hard to read the menu as the printing was not that bold. My wife thought her meal was very nice. I chose a Barnsley lamb chop which looked ok when it arrived. But at £23 for one chop which is mostly bone and has very little meat on it, even in London, is crazy. Especially when you then have to pay for accompaniments at another £5.00. The overall experience was disappointing, I won’t be returning.

Another excellent pre-theatre meal here. Beautifully cooked dishes in a quiet, opulent setting. An oasis of calm just off Trafalgar Square. We have eaten here on many occasions and never been disappointed. Thank you, Boyd’s.

We stayed at the hotel for several nights. Room was okay. Food was okay, hit the spot when we were tired and hungry. BEST THING was Varsha, the bartender. She got to know us and had great time. She took care of everyone around her with an awesome smile and cheery personality. She genuinely cares about everyone. 10-stars to her!!!! Love you girl. Hope to see you again! 🥰😊

The service was outstanding, helpful and pleasant. The food was good, memorable, not really. We had a great time and the staff made the experience great.

We came back three times because we loved it so much! We sat at the bar each time, and both of our bartenders were so kind and generous. Fabio on our first night was very sweet and took care of us well. Varsha worked on our other two nights, and the service was phenomenal. Not only did she serve wonderful, tasty drinks, but she was so fun to talk to and chat with! She even gave crash courses on how to make the drinks we ordered (I want to try my hand at bartending!). She was so kind and we will definitely be back if life allows it. Amazing service and kindness all around, and amazing drinks!

I have used this restaurant often. 5 star review for the team. However, two very terrible ladies, both from India have us our first unacceptable Experience on July 7, 2024. The poor treatment we got from the ladies was received from the two bartenders on duty between 12:15-12:20 AM on July 7, 2024. This incident occurred at the Boyd restaurant and bar, which is situated within Club Quarters. As we approached the bar, one of the bartenders, a lady, began shaking her head and smiling while informing us that the bar was closed. This was done in a dismissive manner that felt both unprofessional and disrespectful. To make matters worse, she then proceeded to walk away, leaving her colleague behind who openly laughed at us. I typically refrain from leaving negative reviews, but this experience was particularly upsetting. The dismissive and unprofessional behavior displayed by these two individuals is unacceptable and does not align with the standards I have come to expect from your establishment. Their conduct not only tarnished our evening but also left us with a very negative impression of the restaurant and bar. It is crucial that such staff members do not continue to represent your organization, as their behavior could severely impact the reputation of both the restaurant and the hotel. Based on this experience, I regret to say that I will not be returning to the restaurant, and this incident may also affect my continued patronage of the hotel which houses Boyd.

Varsha is the only bartender who I ever asked for a "perfect" Manhattan from who knew how to make it it was PERFECT! PERFECT

Arrived to the hotel after a long day of travel and work and decided to treat myself at the bar. Varsha anticipated every move and was a pleasure to chat with while being professional and extremely attentive. The drinks and bar food were above what I expected

Attendance from waiters was very good. We had dinner here on a Thursday evening. It was very quiet. Food was ok for it being a hotel restaurant.

We wanted somewhere different to try on this London trip and weren't disappointed. The dining room had amazing decor. The staff were welcoming and gave us a choice of tables. The waiter and manager were friendly and attentive, the food was superb and very reasonably priced as to what we expected to pay for this quality of experience. Highly recommended and we would definitely revisit.

Went to the bar for a drink because we were staying in the hotel. Ordered a pint of Guinness and the guy had no idea how to pour a Guinness. It was 40% froth. I rejected it and ordered something else and got a hugely overpriced Whisky, to which a 12 1/2% service charge was added! I asked for this to be removed and barman was very unprofessional in asking why. A poor end to a very pleasant evening at the theatre.

Freaked out that I remembered visiting this building when it was an MoD site. Bar staff provided therapeutic conversation.

We ate here before going to the theatre, with a 5 min walk to the Kit Kat Club. The food was reasonably priced and very tasty.

Excellent food, drinks, and very special service. Actually dined 3 times in one week being served by Varsha, a highly competent young woman with a personality to match! Varsha made the entire experience quite memorable, and we will return on our next trip to the U.K.

Just popped in for an early supper ! 7:15pm. Tried booking online turns out you can’t . Sent an email- no reply . So rang left a message / no call back . Turn up anyway just after 7pm . Restaurant pretty much empty so no problem. Ordered - fine starter cold sent back . Mains took for ever . Chased and finally arrived, All of this would be standard fair but on leaving having paid with inclusive tip. I asked for the loo . Well it’s actually on the basement through fire doors . (At this point I think Boyd’s is a franchise). Well down the stairs- nope two burly bouncers are blocking the way ( reminded me of a 1979s nightclub doorman? Apparently I need to use the lift . Brusquely shown the door told even more rudely instructed on the controls (incorrectly ) Pressed buttons no response! Opened door even more ;now aggressive instructions) I engaged a bell boy ( do they still have them ) anyway to no avail he’d been to the same customer care programme as the bouncers . He did tell me to engage with Boyd’s . They reluctantly gave me a room key . Aah back in the lift it needed an access key (first time anyone had ever mentioned this )I found the loo . Interestingly a resident followed me all the way . It seemed he had been wandering around for sometime?i In leaving I was told to leave quietly- apparently “I’d had a good evening “

The breakfast was expensive and very average. The staff were very pleasant. The lounge areas are lovely .

Not sure what to make of this restaurant. We went there for lunch prior to going to a matinee performance at the Savoy theatre. A specific lunch menus, reasonably priced for London. We both had trout which was excellent and ice cream for dessert plus some pinot white wine. Fairly minimalist decor and fairly minimalist service.

Simply exquisite food. Very attentive service. Super nice waitress and boss. Prices correct quality. Wuan let's go back to London we'll be back for sure. Maybe we'll go to the hotel too.

Food great, and for central London it was reasonably priced. We were served by two people who were excellent. We were there for my daughters graduation and without asking they piped 'congratulations' on her dessert plate.

Decent food. They recently changed the menu. We ordered 4 entrees, an appetizer, 2 cocktails and a bottle of wine. Total came to ~£220 for 4 people. This is on the high end of what we have spent at a non-Michelin restaurant. Wine list could have incorporated more French wines. Ambiance is nice, service staff are cordial, however not sure if the restaurant staffs enough resources for the patrons. I'm still confused about tip. This establishment automatically charged us. Sometimes restaurants do and sometimes they don't. Personally, I feel tips/gratuity should be the free will of the patron depending on factors of service. Otherwise, why not just raise the list price of dishes?!

I had a wonderful experience at Boyd's Grill & Wine Bar. The waiter was so attentive even though the restaurant was short staffed on the night I dined there. Service was fast despite that! Food was tasty. Decor and ambiance were noteworthy.

Cheap and centrally located but empty — I wonder why. Well, to put it bluntly, the Primitivo wine was very strange, and the platter just horrid. Everything tasted cheap and chewy, making for a joyless meal. If a central London eatery is empty on a Sat night, it’s probably for a bad reason!

Breakfast buffet has continental items and english breakfast, and costs over 25 pounds. Quite expensive. Tastes totally average, nothing great. Service fee is 12.5% which i have never seen for a buffet. Staff is friendly.
