The Victoria in City of London, Westminster

Went here for dinner the first night we were in London. We liked it so much that we went here our last night too! Both times were weekdays—it’s a busy place and often fills up quickly as the work day ends. It’s a beautiful place, lots of history. Pick an open table, order at the bar. The cheeseburger is fantastic. Good beer selection. Delicious sticky toffee pudding!

Fun, local place with wholesome British options. Easy reservations. Great service. Loves the atmosphere.

A Christmas cracker was even prepared for a solo diner — such thoughtful service, kind people, and great food. Everyone seemed to be gearing up for Dry January. A beautiful season.

I had a great meal here. Ate in the “Theater Room”. The fish and chips were perfectly cooked, the Mahogany Ale was tasty, and the service was awesome. I’ll definitely be coming here again the next time I am in town.

The Victoria has that old London charm that’s getting harder to find. A quiet spot just off the main road, it feels like stepping into another time — dark wood, velvet curtains, and bookshelves that make you want to linger longer than you planned. We had the sausages and the steak & ale pie — both proper pub grub. Add in a solid pint and a cozy vibe, and you’ve got a pub well worth coming back to. Easily one of Paddington’s best-kept secrets.

Great place to grab a drink and have dinner. Relaxing atmosphere and friendly service. We were staying at Hilton Paddington which was an easy walk.

Loved this pub. The decor is fantastic. The staff were friendly, and the beer and wine were good We didn't have anything to eat, so I can't comment on that, but otherwise, it's a great place. We will definitely go again

From the reviews I thought it was exceptional, nothing but absolutely nothing special.

Edit - went again April 2025, nothing has changed. Historic pub with upstairs dining. Hard to say anything but great things. We had Wild Mushroom Bourguignon, Chicken Supreme, Apple and Blackberry Crumble and Sticky Toffee pudding. All were excellent and the staff were friendly and helpful. Downstairs has a lively pub atmosphere, upstairs everyone was enjoying their food and having fun (but not too noisy). I will definitely go again.

Dropped in for a drink & possibly something to eat. After seeing the menu & the excellent value for money set menu, we decided to have something! The atmosphere & service was spot on, keeping it nice & relaxed by opening up a tab for payment & serving our drinks through the window! 😂 The food arrived quickly & was of excellent quality, caesar salad was superb & the sausage & mash was very tasty! The only problem was that I had the set two course, but had to share my pudding! 😢

Cozy little pub in the heart of London.

We chose this pub / restaurant because it is near Paddington station and we had a train to catch later. What a find. Lovely, well kept pub with excellent beers and a great menu (we went to the upstairs dining room). We were looked after by Ben and Matt very well indeed and our food was delicious. A definite place for a return visit.

We were looking for a pub we could walk to from our hotel, but the Victoria went way beyond our expectations. Absolutely delicious food—better than most restaurants, and so affordable. Friendly service and good vibes. The Victoria was one of the highlights of our time in London.

Amazing roast dinner, one of the best roasts we have had out in a long time. We were lucky enough to be sat outside in the sun, and the staff were very helpful. Service was very quick, and would highly recommend visiting.

The staff are very friendly. Even if your English is not good, he listens well. Ordering is done by memorizing the table number and entering. I had Sunday roast beef and it was delicious. The meat is soft and has no unpleasant odor. It was well-cooked beef. The vegetables were cooked properly and delicious. It was very good. Recommended.

Great pub with historic interior. Good selection of different beers, the classic fish and chips was damn tasty. The pub may be a bit out of the way, but it is worth every meter of walk.

This 5 star location pub, has great reviews for a reason. Service is outstanding and the dining area upstairs is a reminder of what good authentic pub food should be like, nothing fancy, good portions and fresh ingredients, great value for money.

We enjoyed drinks at The Victoria. The service was a little slow as the place was busy but the interior was beautiful.

I really wanted to like this pub and make it my local, unfortunately I got second thoughts. We ordered 4 meals, only three turned up. We were told that it had been given to someone else, and there there were no more of that dish available. However my friend was told by 2 members of staff that he could pick something else and it would be on the house. The 4th meal came fairly quickly. The bill came, like a fool I didn’t check it carefully, at home I noticed that they had charged me for the on house meal. The pub is in a lovely location, it gets quite busy after work with people spilling out onto the narrow row of tables outside the pub. Surprisingly cosy inside with bar from the 1880 ish. You can make dinner reservations for the dining rooms upstairs.

Excellent service, excellent food it was a very enjoyable meal in lovely surroundings.

Great pub near Hyde park. Pure English pub atmosphere and decor. Top notch service. Very good cuisine. Excellent cider on tap. Don't miss the pudding, just fabulous.

The pub was comfortable and quite full. I hadn’t realized there were additional rooms upstairs. We both ordered black pudding eggs as a starter, a steak & ale pie, and chicken as the main course, accompanied by two ciders. It was very tasty and we enjoyed it a lot !

Beautiful pub where minors are allowed. We thought the food, the service and above all the ambience were great. It's worth checking out the 2nd and 3rd floors as these rooms are beautiful. Even the toilet has a certain flair. We found the prices reasonable, the Paddington area is very nice with well-kept and beautiful streets and houses.

Excellent place, with rooms also on the upper floors, you can feel the slightly retro English atmosphere, excellent food, courteous, friendly and helpful staff. Highly recommended for those in the area, better to book in advance.

Fabuloso pub con comida fantástica y personal servicial. El ambiente es increíble, la decoración es increíble, y el personal es experimentado y servicial. Tomamos unas copas una noche y nos sentamos en el bar viendo todo. El personal no podía hacer lo suficiente para la gente que entra por la puerta, tratando de acomodar a todos, recomendando vinos y comida del menú. La comida parecía tan agradable que decidimos comer aquí en nuestra segunda noche. No decepcionó. La mejor comida que tuvimos todo el fin de semana con un gran servicio.

By far the best and nicest pub in Paddington, there are lots of locals there and very busy at peak times

If you are in paddington, don’t miss this pub. David Bowie hung out there. The food is great and the service is top notch.

This is a charming old pub, easily accessible from Paddington station. The service was great and friendly. We sat outside in the sun and enjoyed a couple of cocktails!

Absolutely gorgeous pub- we sat in the library room upstairs and I loved it. Drinks were delicious, the meals my friends ordered were good although I didn't enjoy mine. I had the monkfish curry (fish was rubbery and curry was thick and very sweet). I probably would have enjoyed other menu items though. Our server was very kind and it was a lovely experience, I would recommend dining in one of the beautiful rooms upstairs!

Easy walk from Paddington station. Authentic Victorian cozy pub with good ale and superior food. Beautiful decor and great atmosphere with very helpful and friendly staff. A real gem. Highly recommended by a pub enthusiast.. Cumberland sausage bar snack was beyond perfection !

The first time I went there, my best friend, a British man living in London, took me there. I gave it stars both then and this time when I went there alone. It's a little far from Paddington Station, and even though there are many pubs on the way, I can see why this place is so popular. My friend told me that pubs in London vary from the best to the worst, so it's better not to go alone, and I understand what he meant. I've been to this place before, so I felt at ease, but unfortunately it was full. However, the owner tried his best to get a seat for me, a Japanese person who is not used to it, but in the end it was unsuccessful. I was moved by his polite response, even though I felt reluctant to leave. Next time I'll make a reservation. Of course, I'll study pubs and English. I learned that there are some places that make you feel uncomfortable if you go to other places poorly. If you're looking for a pub in Paddington, I recommend The Victoria, which is friendly to Japanese people, has good service, and delicious food.

We went twice in one trip to London, it was so good! We were able to walk in and get a table in the pub on the ground floor both times we visited. The drink selection is superb (I recommend the Jubel Peach beer!) The food is reasonably priced and excellent. The atmosphere is intimate and lively. You can make reservations for the second floor if you want peace of mind when grabbing a table. Cannot recommend this place enough!

This place gets very busy. The food was good, my only complaint is that the babaganoush was not like any babaganoush I've had...not creamy charred eggplant but if we call it eggplant dip it was ok.

What a nice little jewel, it is an old style Victorian pub with a great interior design and an amazing bar. Beers were good and so was the service, we went there after dinner so we didn’t try the food.

Great experience at The Victoria Paddington We have thoroughly enjoyed our visit to The Victoria. The service has been friendly and attentive at all times, making the experience even better. The food, simply spectacular. We tried the fish and chips, which were one of the best we have eaten in London: crispy batter, juicy fish and perfect potatoes. We also ordered a steak that was very good, a simple but fresh salad and some delicious cauliflower popcorn. Everything was delicious, a place that we definitely recommend and to which we will return.

Favourite pub for a pint of Pride

Great atmosphere. The food was excellent. Of course we had the fish and chips but the draft beer was special too! A definite stop if you are near!

Found this place 8 years ago. Made sure our hotel was close when we booked this holiday from New Zealand so we could return. NOT disappointed. Fantastic food, great atmosphere, friendly helpful staff, good beers. Worthcoming 12,000 miles for.

People always complain about the weather in London, but what they don’t tell you is that there are incredible spots like this every few feet. Look at the beer lineup!

A classic pub that has been designed with great attention to detail. Really nice. Prices are of course a bit excessive, as is typical for England / London, but in this atmosphere you are happy to accept it. Delicious food and really good service. If I ever find myself in London again, I would love to go there again. We were there in the evening on two days in a row.

Good beef Sunday Roast which just hit the spot with very tender meat, great space and decor, and brilliant service. Very accommodating when I asked to replace the Yorkshire pudding by something else (more veggies).

Researched the Victoria Inn around the fact that it sold Fullers London Pride and ESB my favourite London ales, didn’t have food on the night, only ale. Superb original aged and well kept London pub with a unique cosy warm atmosphere, the service was excellent and the beers were smack on for taste and temperature etc. It happened to be Tuesday quiz night that was organised by a really good patient and understanding gentleman throughout, we didn’t participate but we enjoyed the questions and answers as it occurred. The warmest friendliest London pub I’ve been in, and I’ve been in a few over the years, I look forward to my next visit.

This feels like it is a great boozer. It was lavishly decorated like a Victorian pub. Many a British celebrity has visited - Churchill, Chaplin and Knightley to name a few. The pub has quite a history and is worth a visit and nose around upstairs.

Special atmosphere in the library. The food was very tasty and the service was excellent. Only the portions were quite manageable for the price.

Came in for a pint but ended up staying for dinner. Looking for a proper pub convenient as a meeting place for two old friends who live on different sides of the pond. Tasty pub fare and attentive service.

Stopped by on a rainy night - was busy but was able to find a seat for two instantly. Had an overnight layover and decided to explore what we could! Left a great impression on us We had the shepherds pie and fish and chips along with a recommended beer (one they use in the fish batter, wish I remembered the name of it!!); all of it was wonderful, definitely had a good experience along with very friendly service despite it being a full house. Definitely recommend!

I’ve been coming here since I first discovered it two decades ago. Whenever I’m in London I make it a point to drop in. In the winter, the hot toddies and mulled wine are excellent. In the summer it is a cold beer or gin & tonic. Fish & chips are excellent. Don’t know that I’ve ever had any other food there.

This was my second time visiting London, but my first time doing a Sunday Roast, and it was wonderful!! The Victoria's ambiance is so beautiful and cozy, especially decorated for Christmas. We made a reservation in advance and sat in the upstairs "Library Room". One of our guests is celiac and the waitress was incredibly helpful in suggesting Gluten Free options - he ultimately got the Beef Sunday Roast, just without a couple of ingredients.

OMG the most incredible family Sunday roast dinner. Way exceeded our expectations. Food was perfect as was the service. Loved the atmosphere. This place is a must visit.
