It was a great establishment to end the Jack the Ripper tour. Our tour guide Jeremy highly suggested The Hoop and Grapes, their food and drink. Step into time as you walk through the door. I highly recommend a visit while visiting Eat End London. Cheers! 🍻🥃🇬🇧

Delicious food, friendly service and live music.

We popped in here for a Drink after our Jack the Ripper tour in London. It was very busy and there was some live music in the pub too. We managed to find somewhere to sit (which felt lucky for a Friday night in London) and stayed for a drink before going back to our hotel. We were served very quickly and there was a good, safe atmosphere in the pub.

A place to try without any ifs or buts: typical English pub atmosphere, excellent service and quality of food. Better to book but the staff always finds a place. Highly recommended.

I was served by a gentleman named Ershia, he was truly a star! Gave my partner and I really great recommendations and was very willing to help us. Extremely welcoming vibes from the place and I would go back in a heartbeat because of this caring gentleman.

It is the most delicious fish and cheaps I have ever eaten, I highly recommend it. The drinks were delicious too. Very good atmosphere and the restaurant feels very warm and homely. To go to the bathroom you have to go down 2 flights of stairs. I loved the experience of the place.

We had a great meal here with a good Nicholson's ale! My fish and chips was a very generous portion, including scampi and really tasty chips. My friend's steak and ale pie was delicious. I'd definitely eat here again.

Amazing Burger, Opted for the Nicholson Burger, Wow, so nice I had to eat it in reverse, Had my pint first and washed it down with my Burger and chips. Almost tempted to have another for dessert.

Piatti buoni e generosi , io ho assaggiato il Fish and chips , pesce bianco fritto in pastella con patatine fritte , tipico della cucina inglese , naturalmente accompagnato da una pinta di birra.

Absolutely lively food. We had the vegan burger, chicken burger, fish pie and lentil pie and all were incredibly tasty.

The food absolutely carried the experience, phenomenal fish and chips! The frosty reception by our waitress affected the overall atmosphere in an amazing historical building and the service left something to be desired but the meal was worth it.

We have been advised really well by Ershia on which beer to taste and to drink. Advice well taken, thanks! The food is also exceptionally delicious..

Beautiful and historic London pub 2 minutes walk from Aldgate tube station. Inside the restaurant is spacious, with very beautiful exposed brick walls, on Friday and Saturday evenings there is live music and you can dine in peace with the classics of "pub food". You can choose from pies, fish and chips, burgers, desserts and a selection of beers. I had dinner with a typical Camden blonde beer and a cheese burger with mashed potatoes: really very very good! The gravy sauce was the extra touch we needed. The service was extremely kind and friendly, I recommend stopping by this place!

Wonderful establishment. Lots of space and a good deal of seating. The bar tender is lovely and patient as I navigated the draft options.

MARVELOUS! I got PUY LENTIL AND VEGETABLES COTTAGE PIE, my friends fish and chips and a cheese and bacon burger. My vegetarian dish was delicious! Tasty and generous portion. I didn't know what to expect because I thought a bread pie would arrive but instead a mixture of lentils, vegetables and spices arrived in a baking dish. The fish and chips had a crunchy breading and the fish was also very good. The hamburger meat was also delicious!!! 10/10 because there was also a nice soft light and live music🎉 (Also took tap water and a medium beer)

My company has booked the whole pub for a customer reception. The pub is offering a wide variety of drinks incl my favourite rhubarb gin. Waiters are friendly, the atmosphere is cosy, no too old-stye British.

Mullet man miserable service, music at 6 awfully low. Beer was actually decent not the same brilliant selection you had about 2 months ago. Still firmly believe this is a good spot and will update next time I visit

This was the first pub me, my husband and son ventured into on our first day in London and I’m really pleased we did. We only had a few drinks however it was a welcoming and comfortable pub which had character. We returned the day after for a couple of drinks after a busy day of sightseeing too. Lovely little pub and ideal location for anyone staying in the Premier Inn, and Aldgate stations 2 min walks away

We had a very amazing pie and blackberry bramble. Several drinks and the live music was amazing. What a great atmosphere. I’m glad the fire of London stopped 600 feet from here.

Venue great. Food not so much. Pie good but mash inedible. Veggie burger just ok. Won't come back to eat but for drinks only. Menu for veggies could be better.

Fantastic atmosphere and really good food. The supervisor Dennis was amazing and set us up with sticky toffee pudding even though it wasn't on the menu for the night. Highly recommend the sausage and mash and steak pie. Can't go wrong here.

This is mine my girlfriend and my families first time in London. We were recommended this place from a gentleman at the Canopy Hotel. This place was incredible. The food was outstanding and the service was incredible. Specifically, Dennis the supervisor stood out. He was so personable and made our dinning experience amazing. If you get the pleasure to go to this great restaurant, ask for Dennis.

Les plats étaient à tomber : sauce excellente et viande cuite à la perfection pour les pies, le burger et les frites à l’avenant, le tout pour un prix correct. Par contre, on a connu des services plus agréables. Pas qu’on attend de se voir dérouler le tapis rouge mais bon, un minimum de sourire et de courtoisie n’a jamais fait de mal…

My husband and I mostly stumbled across the Hoop & Grapes while in London and we are SO glad that we did. It was our first time in London and we were looking for a restaurant near our hotel that we could walk to and that would have some traditional food to the area. One thing I will say about the place is that it was PACKED. We managed to find a small table for two that I'm pretty sure was the only open table in the entire place after walking around for a bit. The food was ordered through an app on our phone and delivered to our table by the very friendly staff. And I must say that the food was amazing. So much so that we actually came back and ate dinner here a second time later into our trip. My husband ordered the beef and ale pie. I ordered the fish and chips. Both of these were absolutely delicious. The fish was flavorful and crispy and the meat pie was cooked to perfection. We also really enjoyed the atmosphere, with the historical wooden beams and decor. I think my only disappointment was that we were too late to order dessert, (they stop serving food at around 8 or 9pm, depending on the day) but that was just unfortunate timing and not any fault of the restaurant. I just see it as a good excuse to go back, which we fully intend to do!

The staff were very friendly and helpful, chatty with a good sense of humour. The girl from Kendal was really welcoming, and the waiter on the floor was happy to show us several choices of tables. The food was very good, the roasted carrots especially tasty. Unfortunately, there was no sticky toffee pudding, but the crumble recommended as an alternative was exceptional and didn't disappoint. The range of drinks fulfilled all of our tastes perfectly. The Timothy Taylor's Landlord was the perfect accompaniment to the pie I had. We chose the pub because it was just close to where we met between Aldgate East and Aldgate tube stations. We didn't need to book, nor were disappointed, and would definitely recommend it.

This is a lovely old pub with displays of its history dotted about. Staff are quite young but they’re great at their jobs. Live music kicks off at 8.30pm. Usual guitar stuff. I liked the feel in this place.

Nice historic pub in Aldgate. Bit pricey but compatible with other local places. Not eaten here but food looks nice and colleagues tell me its good.
