Don’t usually write reviews but just wanted to for Cork and Bottle as we had a great experience on Monday night. The waiter was fantastic and so kind and lovely and attentive without being overbearing. The wine was lovely and we loved the Camembert. They charged my phone behind the bar and just generally made us have a lovely experience. Thanks!

Been coming on and off for 30 years. Love this place... every time I am there I think I mean to come more often. As I did last night...

Cozy wine bar in the very central London location of Leicester Square. I was really impressed by the wine I chose (there were plenty available by the glass, and a very wide range by the bottle - I feel there are no unlucky choices to be had here!) We had some cheese & crackers & French bread (there was a choice of about 20 cheeses), and from the sharing plates we had duck pate and chilli squid, both excellent. A lovely place for a catchup with friends.

This is a really cosy underground wine bar, away from the crowds in Leicester Square.

Delicious food, knowledgeable staff, great wine - particularly important in an area with so few "classy" places to eat at a reasonable price.

My friend and I had a lovely lunch at the Cork & Bottle. We sat in one of the alcoves, very cosy. The service was attentive and the food was excellent - we had pork belly and shepherds pie. Highly recommended!

Wines were not fantastic but expensive. Poor quality wines for the priced charged.

Have been going for years and will always love this place! Good food, excellent wine, like being transported back to the 80s. Just the prices that are a bit too high for us now so very much a one off treat these days.

This was my first visit to the Cork and Bottle since 1981! Thankfully it hasn't changed much over the past 43 years and the food and wine were excellent. The staff also made us feel very welcome, particularly when we explained the significance of our visit!!

Great find, cellar wine bar and a bit musty when you first arrive TBH. But very nice service, a great bottle of wine which was good value and perfectly good food meant all round it was an ideal venue for what we wanted which was a pre theatre bite to eat. Would go again.

I have been several times to this little gem of a wine bar/restaurant right in the heart of Theatreland, tucked below the busy the streets of London. The service is always good as is the food which I think is good value for its positioning in the centre of Leicester Square.

We had a lovely lunch at the cork and bottle before going to a show. The staff were really friendly, the food was great and the wine was delicious. Always have a good experience here.

A good classics. Loved the linguini with shrimps. Clean and tidy toilets and plenty of room to sit in the busiest area.

I used to come here regularly when I lived in London from 1986 to 1991 and come back whenever I’m in London - it hasn’t changed and is still one of my favourite places to go.

Such a great find! Service was fantastic, wine selection beyond compare, food outstanding. Great allergen menu and so accommodating - I am diagnosed gluten free and I was able to safely enjoy quite a few options. Wonderful experience!

I never thought there would be such an amazing hidden spot in Leicester Square. Close to the cinema, there’s a gorgeous wine bar and food place and from the moment you walk in, it’s an absolutely immersive experience. The atmosphere is incredible, and provides such a peaceful experience especially compared to the usual chaos and noise in central London. The decoration is simply stunning, everything has been thought to the minute detail, with cork chandeliers and vintage furniture and posters. The wine obviously was superb, but as two of the guests didn’t drink, we prioritised the food and we were not disappointed. For starters, ordered the tempura prawns with wasabi mayo, and the hummus with dukkah, pita and olives and both were perfect, the prawns were perfectly cooked, not too oily and the wasabi mayo had a nice kick to it without being too much of a powerful flavour, complementing rather than overtaking the prawn. The hummus was home made and fresh, and the pita bread was warm and toasted, which made it so much more enjoyable. For mains, we selected the crab and king prawn linguine with garlic, chili and cherry tomato, and the baked camembert. There was copious amounts of pasta, with very generous servings of all toppings, and the cheese was soft, creamy and delicious. The highlight however was the service. The staff are incredibly welcoming, helpful, understanding and attending. They engage without being overbearing and help make the experience much better!

I’m loath to leave a stunning review as I don’t want too many people to discover this wonderful wine bar/restaurant. We first came here together 34 years ago and we’re so happy to find its one of the few places that doesn’t seem to have changed. The fabulous Madaleina served us with some much charm and efficiency. I think Don Hewitson would be pleased.

The Cork & Bottle is amazing. We have been coming for 25 years and have loved every visit. The welcome is always warm, the ham a s cheese pie is consistently excellent and the service led by the ever-present Vash a d his team is exemplary. Not to mention the fact that the wine selection is fabulous with seasonal specials always on offer to tempt the palate. It’s truly a lovely place and we’re delighted that it still retains the essence of Don Hewitson who was one of the first to bring great Australian & New Zealand wines to the UK and the Cork & Bottle 25+ years ago. As Din said ‘Life is too short to drink cheap wine!’

If you want a great atmosphere and wine list to match - this is a great choice. Quaint old-fashioned cellar. Great staff.

A wonderful oasis in the heart of Leicester Square. Friendly staff, great wine and superb food.

Popped in for snacks and drinks before the theatre. Staff very welcoming and friendly and continually coming around to top up water glasses - much appreciated on a hot night out. Service was speedy, and the food was lovely. The wine is quite pricey, cheap so might want to save your visit for a special night out.

Excellent wine list and delicious food to match. All in a quaint & quiet spot amidst the craziness of Leicester And Covent Gardens. Our first meal on our short trip to London and by far the best!

Wine and cheese is what they have done for 30 years plus. If I am in the area or got guests in london I always take them here. Great for a quick lunch a shepherds pie and glass of wine. All cooked fresh. A Londoners secret. They are also holding special wine .food events now which look fun. Is down some windy metal stairs so you need to be able to manage that think no access for less abled of elderly or with great care just due to its subterranean position. Huge cheese and wine selection. Very reasonable prices. Everything is delicious and hearty - good size portions. This place is 100% quirky. Fits around 30 people. Easy to walk in.

I have been dining at Cork and Bottle regularly for several years now and the food is tasty and good value, the wine selection is outstanding and the staff are always welcoming and friendly. A terrific place.

Great find whilst in London for the weekend. Charcuterie board to start, nice as it was it was bread and meat no crackers or cheese. Lovely main course risotto and the famous pie. Enjoyed the summer offer wine. Liked the atmosphere and the fact it’s ’underground‘

A rather undistinguished frontage just along the road from Leicester Square welcomes you to this labyrinthine basement wine bar. Custom was sparse on a Friday lunchtime but a more lively crowd appeared towards the evening. A good range of nibbles and sharing platters is on offer together with a very comprehensive wine list. Everything served to us by a delightful young waitress.

This is a fantastic wine bar, my only regret is I didn't find it earlier. With Gordon's becoming a tourist Mecca, this is a great, quiet alternative.

Been coming here for years every time we are in the area. Best camebert around, do wish they would serve it with more bread! But easy to order more. Lovely wine, nice staff and just generally a good place to catch up. We also got a voucher to try their new place round the street which was lovely and a nice thing to do the next day!

I've been going to the Cork and Bottle for years and years as it is a place that can be relied upon to provide quality wine and food, a friendly welcome, good service and a quite oasis in the middle of the city. You don't need to spend a lot of money for a full bottle of wine as you can buy a carafe or a glass and the price of the food is also very reasonable.

Good service. Nice food. Our first table was in a small off room which smelt so we asked to be moved. Very friendly attentive staff

We had a great lunch. As it wasn't busy, we were allowed a booth which added to the ambience. Accordingly the service was attentive without being intrusive. Food was yummy, watch out for the ham and cheese pie if you are not hungry. Been many times before and will go again. Thanks

Great place. Wonderfully quiet below the madness of Leicester Square. Busy with customers at 20:00 on Sunday evening. One of our group was thrilled to have Sunday lunch at that time of night. Also loved an assortment of cheese and port for dessert. Service was great too with very friendly staff. Can’t wait to return.

After a lapse of over 20 years, we returned to The Cork & Bottle and were not disappointed. It was even better than we remember and it was great to introduce it to our son who loved it too!

This place was so cute! It was a random find online before a theatre show on my own! I was welcomed at the bottom of a winding staircase which was so cute. I was served a glass of tap water upon sitting down as well as a few menus, wine by glass, wine by bottle which seem to be on every table. Then was the food starters and mains and lastly, cheese!! I didn’t get a board but seeing other peoples they look amazing with a great range of cheeses in their fridge, visible from around the restaurant. The pork belly was divine and I am a huge fan of pork! The different wines they offer as well could cater to any group size with different tastes! I would highly recommend making the trip but keep your eyes peeled it can seem difficult to find from main Leicester Square but if you do find it, get down those stairs and drink the best of the best!

Cork and Bottle, Leicester Square. We have been coming to the Cork and Bottle on and off for the past 20 years. The atmosphere, service, wine and food never changes. Always a great experience.

Lovely early evening meal in this funky place with good service - waiter knee his stuff for sure and recommend some dishes and wine We went with ham hock, snails the famous ham and cheese pie plus 3 cheeses more than enough!

Great cheese boards, especially when pairing these with honey! What is also great is that the cheese options are on display. Besides this, the tarte tatin starter was exquisite and I'd happily recommend it. The snails however would be lovelier if they had a more intense garlic flavour.

A real hidden gem! Helpful staff, amazing atmosphere with beautiful food and wine!

Our return visit, after some time, didn’t quite live up to expectations. The tables were quite cramped and ours was at the link between the two rooms, so always busy. My cod was beautifully cooked, but the risotto could have been richer. The Cafe Gourmand sharing desserts were generous, but very sweet flavours.

Lovely place, very busy pre theatre. We got given a table that was crammed under the stairs. Wine great. The food is hugely overpriced. Our bill for x2 wines, x2 small plates and one salad was £75. One of the small plates was literally cut up pitta and humus. I went for nostalgia and pre theatre but prob wouldn’t rush back.

Quick pre theatre meal; food much better than last time - delicious pork belly with slaw, spring salad and even their old stalwart the duck (or chicken liver pate) was much better than the last time and even better they have gotten rid of their diabolical habit of charging for extra cornichons. An old style wine bar which is pretty unique today and thoroughly recommendable

Cork and Bottle was an absolute treat! It wasn't just the simple and delicious menu that was carefully thought out to provide a hearty base for a night of wine indulgence, but the atmosphere and ambience just yelled "home with friends at the rum shop" (I'm from Barbados and our rum shops are.fixture in our social scene). I never get tired of this place.

I’d come to London to eat the cheese and ham pie here alone. For reference I live in Norway. Friendly staff, cozy atmosphere, superb food and drinks. 10/10 visit this place if you’re in London

DO NOT GO HERE. Food is terrible and over priced, the same goes for the drinks. The owner is an angry sexist man with a quick temper. STEAR CLEAR AT ALL COSTS.

It's underground. It's a bit pricey, but the wine and food are both good! Is there a bathroom smell inside? It smells like a rag. I'm a little worried about returning. ㅠㅠ
