A visitor to Cambridge & this pub; had food (fish & chips with mint peas & tartar sauce), Nov 24 £15, definitely worth the price, tables were being reserved for the evening, so generally food must be good, a pint of Madri £ 5.80, wanted a pint if cider but run out of the good ciders (in my opinion), only had Inches; barman (was a man) knew his eggs (ie very good at his job), if I'm in this area again will definitely come here again for food, drink & warmth (in autumn and/or winter) 🤗👍

The staff here are superb! Very attentive, friendly and extremely efficient, it was nice to see. They cleared and cleaned the tables promptly and even wiped down the seats and swept areas of the floor (where children had made a bit of a mess). My toasted sandwich was just what I wanted, and had plenty of filling, coffee served hot. Great to see they allow dogs (which were quieter than the children there!). All the staff that attended us were great, but the dark haired girl (possibly Natalia?) was always smiling and polite. They are a credit to the business and the business obviously takes pride and runs a tight ship! I’d definitely return and recommend. (Date visited 3/11).

Went on a wednesday for food as they have 50% off the whole menu. We were really pleasantly surprised and impressed by the quality of the food - super delicious and great portions on the loaded fries and burgers, as well as decent size small plates for tapas style sharing. The Wednesday 50% deal makes it super affordable and considering the quality we were very pleased! The only downside was that it was pretty old in the building and we noticed a few windows etc. open despite it being 2° outside - would've been 5 stars if it wasn't so chilly.

My first negative experience since moving down here. Went to Youngs Other Plaice for fish and chips and stood in the queue. Got to my turn and woman behind the counter says ‘you’re next’. Another couple walk in behind me and she starts talking to them about Gluten free fish. They then proceed to place their order ahead of me! Ok, I thought, that’s annoying but I’ll be next. Then another lady walks behind me and places her order. Meanwhile I’m standing there like an idiot waiting. After the second lady was served instead of me I said ‘they clearly didn’t want to serve me’ at which point the other lady behind the counter said ‘we do want to serve you’, glared at me and then promptly walked away! All this in front of their customers. I walked out in disgust. Not exactly a shining example of customer service and a rude bosh first impression to make on a new customer. Ended up walking down Connaught Avenue where I ended up getting dinner from Pier One which was lovely. Who knew getting fish and chips by the seaside would be so difficult
