The Boot in Three Rivers

Zoe and the team hosted our small wedding of 31 guests in the back restaurant on 23rd March 2024. From start to finish, we were highly impressed with the service from the planning and even the artwork that Zoe put together for our menu choices to send to our guests. Freddie and the whole team on duty on the night were fantastic and had everything in hand. They were friendly and efficient. The tables were all decorated exactly how we requested and the room looked beautiful. All of the meals were delivered to the correct people...the whole night ran so smoothly. All of our guests loved the food and were impressed with how hard the team worked to make our evening perfect. They also sorted out the taxis for us at the end of the evening. I would highly recommend The Boot for your event especially if you want a more relaxed and less formal event. I would also add that it was amazing value for money since most venues charge an absolute fortune for weddings.

My kids had a blast with the Easter egg hut and colouring competition this afternoon. Our waiter Ciara made sure they felt included and entertained throughout. The food was delicious, and the service made our visit even more enjoyable. We'll definitely be back for more family meals at The Boot!

Popped in for lunch today and felt it definitely warranted a 5 star review. An interesting menu to suit all tastes and great food served by friendly and attentive staff. I had a delicious chef made steak and ale pie with a perfect pint of local beer and my wife enjoyed the pork belly dish. It’s a lovely old pub with warmth and ambiance and we will definitely have to go back soon to try their Sunday roasts.

A very warm welcome, lovely ambience, delicious food, great wines and local beers. After a very long walk for an anniversary lunch we were not disappointed.

We've been to the Boot many times at the weekend for lunches during our walks in the area. It's always been a good reliable place for a decent meal - very large portions and good beer! This time we had a crispy beef starter which I though was a bit disappointing - the beef was covered in a kind of batter that didn't really crisp up. The portion size was also much larger than I expected - sometimes less is more, unless I am with my teenage son of course.... For mains we had a salmon dish which was OK, although my friend wondered whether the salmon was all that great in the first place, and a chicken roast with all the trimmings. The chicken roast was huge - a decent half a bird, with an excellent yorkshire pudding, maybe some unnecessary stuffing, vegetables and roast potatoes. All was of a decent standard but the chicken was on the dry side. Drinks-wise I had two pints of Abbot Ale - I don't think they had Greene King beers last time - but this was decent stuff, well poured and excellent. I'm not usually a fan of Greene King pubs as the beers can be a bit samey - I prefer the excitement of finding something new, but they can be very drinkable when looked after well, as was the case at the Boot. Service was excellent - although a bit slow at the beginning as we arrived at the end of what was a manic Sunday lunch period. The couple next to us had been waiting an hour for food, we fortunately had a very civilised short wait before it appeared. The staff were extremely friendly and happy, couldn't fault their attitude. Worth booking at the Boot if visiting for Sunday lunch.

We chose to go to The Boot last minute for Saturday lunch, we live not too far away but have not visited for a while. We arrived at 3.30 not realising that the kitchen shuts at 4.00 but Matt, who welcomed us, couldn’t have be more welcoming and friendly and sat us down with no issue. The food was amazing (sausage and mash and pie of the day) and the pub has lovely friendly and relaxed atmosphere. We will definitely be back soon and highly recommend a visit for everyone!

We recently celebrated our daughters christening at The Boot by hiring the marquee for our family party. It is the perfect venue for any special celebration as it has so much space and in these colder months is fully heated - which was a blessing. Adam and Lois went above and beyond during the entire day making sure every one was well catered for. The buffet food was exceptional and all our guests commented on how lovely the venue and all the staff were. Zoe was an amazing help throughout the weeks leading up to the day in helping us plan everything beautifully.

This pub / restaurant is perfect for a meal with friends. The food was good and the service second to none! The staff were friendly, very efficient and made our evening a great success. The pub is beautiful with a massive garden in a gorgeous village.

All those present for my milestone birthday lunch, from four generations, enjoyed the delicious food, the atmosphere and setting. We also appreciated the staff being so friendly and accommodating - and professional. The portions were generous. The children and puppy enjoyed the outside area. We had our daughters naming ceremony and first birthday party in the marquee. After being let down a month before by our original venue we was delighted that that we managed to get the venue on such short notice. Zoey was extremely helpful with all the booking and completely put our minds at ease that they would not do the same and got back to us really quickly with all details. The venue was lovely the food was amazing and would also like to say a special thank you to Adam who went above and beyond to make our day so special and is an absolute credit to the boot nothing was to much of an ask he had a smile on his face the whole day and by the end of the night felt like a part of the family. I would 110% recommend the boot as a venue for any function I can’t fault a thing

Enjoyed a lovely Sunday roast with my family, the restaurant was very busy but we were able to be seated quickly. I took my elderly parents here for lunch on January 2. As always we had a smashing time. The food was great, service was excellent (Matthew was our server) and all the staff were extremely friendly and welcoming.

We had a group booking of 37 in the marquee. Everything was fabulous, could not fault it, and all 37 of us thought the same. The organisation, staff and food were all amazing, would definitely recommend if looking for somewhere for a group booking.

I went for the annual Christmas lunch on 11 December with around 60 former school friends. Both food and service were excellent, and the manageress, Zoe, was superbly well organised, friendly and cheerful. Despite the numbers, food quality was very good. Really couldn't fault it.

Really large group of nordic walkers enjoyed our Christmas dinner last night. All staff were attentive and wonderful - faultless! Food was delicious and whole group were served at the same time which is hard to do. So impressed at The Boot!

Our grandson max works here so we decided to come for a meal before his shift, and we were wonderfully surprised by the friendly environment and staff - especially Natalie, our waitress. She was very polite and chatty and made our short visit very enjoyable - thank you!

This was our first time at the Boot. It was a very family friendly pub, with plenty of outdoor seating; a lovely playground separated into little ones and slightly bigger ones; great food (especially the brownie); a quite large children’s menu and lovely staff. Lots of parking too. Between us we enjoyed the pie; burger; boar burger; bean and chickpea burger and children’s burger plus Bakewell tarts, brownie and Knickerbocker glory. Only minor downside (for me) is that it’s down some winding, narrow lanes from the M25. It’s about half way between my parents and me so we will be back in the future x

after a short circular walk next Sarratt we have picked up our take away lunch. The food was ready on time and we have enjoyed it. We had our lunch on the green across the pub.

We ordered a takeaway roast dinner for the family on mother's day - It was absolutely fantastic. The staff there are great - really friendly and efficient. The Takeaway set up worked really smoothly and packaging made it easy to transport home.Huge portions, delicious flavours (a surprisingly impressive selection of different veg) and all perfectly cooked. Even got a little extra treat (as a surprise) for the Mum's in the group - which was a lovely touch! Would heartily recommend ! Husband ordered us 2 adult and 1 child size roast for mothers day. I understand the standard wouldn't be as high due to the takeaway nature and the travel before hitting the table but there were definitely items that could have been improved on. Namely my pork belly. It was tough and dry with no crackle on the top making it wholly unappetising. The vegetables were clearly not fresh and this was confirmed by the box used to pack the food in. It was labelled frozen cauliflower florets. Kind of wished we saved our money and I cooked instead.

This lovely old pub are doing their utmost to continue trading and are offering an excellent service during this lockdown. We had their special Fish and Chip supper last night and it was fab. Very generous portions served by friendly and pleasant staff. Would thoroughly recommend.

Despite all the various changing Covid-19 restrictions Zoe, Nick and their team have just excelled themselves over the last few months. Currently doing yummy food (and mulled wine) as a take-away from their front window, all with a smile and a good wish.

This is not my first review of this wonderful establishment I could do them often but I try to keep them for something exceptional. My wife and I dined there on a Saturday evening and decided on the Christmas menu - she had french onion soup and the feather blade beef dish I had duck parfait and also the beef. The starters were lovely however the beef and its accompiaments were of the utmost quality. To be honest a simple dish but to such a high standard you’d be happy to pay much more. The staff as always were attentive and friendly without being obtrusive. I love this place don’t hesitate to visit when you can - truly a heartwarming experience

Just had a cold, but friendly socially distanced Christmas lunch outside at The Boot in Sarratt. We use this pub for our monthly book club meeting and so, of course, booked for our Christmas get together. The lunch was outstanding, all elements were fantastic, loads of turkey, crispy roast potatoes and delicious veg with, for me, lashings of gravy.Highly recommended

They have got things very organised at this friendly pub and go out of their way to be helpful, friendly and efficient. Would thoroughly recommend. They have a marquee with heating too which allows well behaved dogs

Warm welcome in the covered garden area made a socially distanced friends reunion so enjoyable . We met in August 2020 at the Boot at Sarratt . We were made to feel very welcome by the attentive staff and enjoyed our pub meals . Special thanks to Chloe , Vicky , Alice and others who responded promptly to multiple email requests beforehand regarding seating , dietary requirements and allergy advice for members of our party .

My party of 4 celebrated a birthday at the Boots “Fish and seafood Weekend”. I have to say right from the start that the service was exceptional. There was always a member of staff in sight who was looking for customers wanting attention. There is nothing more frustrating than wanting something with no waiter in sight. The food was lovely. The moules were perfectly cooked in a yummy sauce. The haddock flourentine was quite, quite lovely. My fellow diners were similarly delighted. There was a lovely buzz about the whole place - wonderful. We’ll be back!!

A beautiful setting in the lovely Hertfordshire village of Sarratt makes for an optimistic feel on arrival. The pub itself is modern yet with a traditional feel that raises expectations further. The staff were delightfully attentive and the menus interesting, varied catering to all tastes. Portion sizes are fine and prices competitive. The problem is in the kitchen. Out of five guests we all found the food underflavoured, disappointingly bland. Come on Chef, up your game and a five star review would be decidedly deserved. My Moules Mariniere was a typical case in point. It was bereft of that savoury kicks even though all the ingredients were there, but not flavourful enough. Shame.

This is the second time I’ve been here and it didn’t disappoint. The food was beautiful and they catered so well for gluten free. The service was also great - nothing was too much for the waiters/waitresses and they did everything with a smile. Can’t wait to go again.

Excellent service, delicious food and a lovely welcome feel. We (11 people) sat on two large tables in newly erected marquee at the back of the pub- plenty of room and there is a bar outside with friendly staff. We all thoroughly enjoyed our lunch for my sister’s birthday! Thank you :)

Had a very pleasant evening in The Boot.As it was a EOTHO evening we were surprised of the speed of service. The staff were polite and efficient. The portions of food were generous and filling. Being a member of CAMRA i found the local Paradigm ale to be excellent.The other two ales on offer were not some of my favourites but i understand that the locals do like them.Overall it's a great pub with plenty of room to park and outside space for children.

A great place to visit with the added bonus of being dog friendly , the staff were both friendly and helpful and the food was excellent and good value , I would recommend this place wholeheartedly and look forward to visiting again in the near future.

The Chorleywood Striders met there for lunch after different groups of socially distanced walkers arrived from Chesham. The team are fantastic, coping with all our changes, delivering all the meals at the same time and remaining cheerful throughout. We were on a Rishi deal so great value! I had their bacon, cheese and beef burger. It was huge, and rally tasty! Service was great, polite and quick (despite being busy). I'd defo go again!

Had a lovely lunch at The Boot after a long walk. The fish and chips with mushy peas was delicious. My wife had the grilled goat cheese salad which she loved. The beer was from the local Paradigm Brewery and was in top condition. Great service, friendly staff, and well-managed and stress-free social distancing throughout. Recommended.

Having recently moved to this area we were keen to find new places to eat and we thankfully discovered The Boot. We had a wonderful evening with great service and food. We will return.

It is great to see The Boot welcoming everyone back - we had a very good lunch overlooking the green, the service was friendly and efficient.It is a shame though that the garden of such an iconic historic building such as The Boot is covered with astro turf, rather than grass, especially in a rural setting; the same goes for plastic flowers in the baskets!
