The hygiene in this place is poor. The staff members look very stale. They have not showered or worn clean clothes before reporting to work. Also the food handlers and order takers behind the counter are always touching their faces. Rubbing their faces. When a person is a food handler they are not allowed to scratch their armpits or touch any parts of their bodies and faces. They also have to look well groomed and showered. I have been to restaurants in the UAE and India and their hygiene was top class. Sadly we cannot eat in any restaurant in the UK All are filthy because nobody has a shower and clean clothes every 12 hours if they showered they would not have itched. .

The most amazing food in a quintessential village pub. Don't be put off. Everyone is welcome, but most people will know 2 other groups in the pub and will chat and catch up, even if it has only been a week since they were together. It is a small pub and doesn't take much to be busy, so sometimes you will have to wait a while to be served. But you will always be served with a smile and a chat, even if the staff don't know you. Quality over quantity. We love it, and so do our kids. There is also a lovely walking look you can take from the pub. Just beware, Sunday lunch orders stop at 4pm.

We were in the area and popped in here for lunch on Bank Holiday Monday to grab some food and ended up staying there for a couple of hours! Great atmosphere, food and friendly staff, would recommend to anyone who is looking for a nice chilled vibe with affordable/tasty food. It's such a shame that it's quite far from where we live but will be visiting again if we were in the area! :)

Staff are always lovely but Scarlett went above and beyond to make sure everything met our dietary requirements. Her patience and kindness was very much appreciated! Salad bar area was clean and organised and being refreshed often throughout our visit. Food was cooked to perfection.

Terrible service and dishonest practices – avoid at all costs! This was one of the most disappointing and frustrating dining experiences we’ve ever had. My family and I went for lunch – we've been to this restaurant before, but after this visit, never again. I ordered fish and chips, but specifically asked at the counter to replace the fries with a salad, since I avoid fries. The staff confirmed it was fine, no issues. However, when it came time to pay, they charged us an extra £2.50–£3 for the salad! This wasn’t an additional item – it was supposed to be a replacement for the fries. On top of that, the portion of salad I got was about half the size of the fries portion that comes with the meal. Completely unfair and illogical. This kind of upselling and sneaky charge is unacceptable. The attitude was careless and greedy. Clearly, they don’t care about loyal customers or fair service. We’re never going back – and I strongly recommend you don’t either.

Not been organised and peckish after doing the Sarratt loop walk we stopped for refreshments luckily got a cancellation spot. The food arrived piping hot and my daughter’s half chicken was perfect. Been many years since I’ve done a steak and ale pie and very happy with the choice. Staff very friendly and super attentive.

Top notch pub, this one. 🔥 Food’s fresh as anything and the beer’s lovely and cold - just what you want on a proper spring day. Bit of sunshine in the beer garden, chilling on the outdoor decking with a pint in hand - can’t beat it. Great spot for a natter with your mates and not a care in the world. No bells and whistles, just a good old British boozer doing it right. Spot on!
