Ten minutes late and we couldn't order breakfast on the weekend after 12pm. Weekdays seem to be better for a quicker service. Food options are good and taste nice, but the kitchen feels over worked however. If I go again it'll have to be on a weekday.

£4.50 for this ice cream ! Thats an absolute rip off. I remembered that they are not cheap here, therefore, I didn't ask for a flake or any other toppings as with these the price would have been probably £6,00 or more ! I regularly go to Hampstead where in Venchi - located on Hampstead High Street I get a real Italian gelato for exactly same price (btw, their gelato is the same size) - and that’s in Hampstead, one of the most expensive post codes in London !

OVER PRICED!!! Way too expensive and they've put there prices up again! No wonder they made £10,000 at the weekend. Ive been here a couple of times hoping for better service...and no ...Service is slow. It was great when it first opened now it just seems greed has taken over. The food looked lovely and the cakes but almost £5 for coffee!!!! Even tea. I'd rather walk to the town or down the canal to get a coffee that's reasonably priced. Just very disappointed...need Competition. Go to cafe @ lock 81 that's what I would recommend. Found it the other day.

“The prices at these cafes are typically high—just under £20 for four ice creams that weren’t even gelato or Mr Whippy, just basic vanilla ice cream! Come on, guys, step up your game and offer real ice cream! Another issue is that they only accept card payments and don’t take cash. This might be contributing to the high prices since they have to cover transaction fees for each card payment.” Will be buying ice cream next door in Tesco’s as a fraction of the price and get the ice creams people want.

Free parking, warm welcome, lovely menu, free tap water, multiple areas to sit from two outside areas, a dog room, a quiet room and the main room. Chose Shakshuka for brunch and hubby had full English. Great quality food, very flavoursome and beautifully presented. Followed by a walk around the lake and canal - highly recommended!

I've been a regular visitor to this place for a while now. I really enjoy the area, and since I live nearby, it's convenient for me. The service is consistently friendly and professional, and the food is good. However, the prices are quite steep for a cafe located in a park. Moreover, I find it perplexing that there's no air conditioning inside, particularly when it's 30 degrees outside. It's hard to fathom how the staff manages to work in such conditions while the cafe operates as usual. As a customer, I believe this should be addressed. I found it uncomfortable to sit inside, and it's concerning to think about the employees having to work in such high temperatures.

Not a bad place at all ! Quite a nice vibe; save from the quiet room being very loud, (which was challenging for my disabilities) and the vegetarian options looked nice however the brioche buns on the burgers were quite dry (feeling somewhat stale) and the Kids burger didnt come with cheese :( Ultimately seems like a lovely place for Coffee and okay for a quick meal if you are hungry, but not the best for food over all. Arranged to have Saturday lunch here as the location was convenient for a group of friends. After queuing for 15 minutes we each ordered a burger, one meat, one chicken, one vegetarian. The brioche buns on each burger were very dry and crumbly, and none of us ate them. The chicken and the beef burgers were well cooked and flavoursome, but my friend’s herby falafel burger was too herby and overpowered the flavour of the falafel. Rosemary chips were delicious however. After a walk around the lakes we returned for coffee and cake and again waited about 15 minutes to order (this was at 3.45 when they were preparing to close). Our cakes were all amazing - lemon meringue cruffin, bronut and chocolate brownie. I think if we came back to this Cafe we would just come for coffee and cake or to try the breakfasts which looked amazing.

It's a nice cafe in a beautiful park. The food is good but pricy, I suppose it's because the car park is free. The let down is the service. The waiting time is far too long for both ordering and being served. We waited about an hour from queuing to order to start eating. I know it's a popular place and weekend can get quite busy. "Posh shepherds pie" cost me £16.50, and was the most expensive item on the menu. It was most disappointing. The "shepherds pie" was five inches in diameter and one inch deep. The top three quarters of an inch was blobs of potato, while the measley bottom quarter of an inch was lamb. Oh, included in the price we're two three inch thick pieces of sourdough bread. What an utter rip off. I basically paid £16.50 to fill up on sourdough bread with a thin spread of shepherds pie.I wouldn't recommend eating here unless you have very deep pockets and don't mind paying extortionate prices for not a lot at all.

I gave 3 stars as although it is a pleasant venue the food is extremely expensive for a café, the service is very slow and at busy times it appears dirty. Having the food choice on a main board might help. When we arrived we could not even find a menu!! Shame as it spoilt our day. 26/03/23 Slightly improved recently on service and atmosphere but still very expensive for the portions on offer. Houmous should be in a little pot rather than smeared on a big plate! 23/09/23 still on the pricey side but the service the service was good. Chose cakes and coffee, put my £20 pound note down. Oh we only take cards!!!!. As I only had cash my purchases were returned. We all use plastic out of convenience, but a world without cash unthinkable. What would happen to the £10 note craftily slipped to you by a grandparent. And tips to staff. I could go on. What an absolute s**t show of a cafe! Only wanted a coffee. Waited in queue for 30 minutes for one coffee to take away. Tables were left unserviced with dirty plates from previous customers remaining meaning other customers couldn't sit down as tables were dirty. Staff can be seen behind the counter in the meantime having a nice chat without any care or awareness to the mess and long queue forming. So badly managed. Why not have a queue just for coffee take aways and staff taking orders from customers in the queue to help speed up the process? I'll be bringing my own flask of coffee and a packed lunch time that's for sure! Avoid avoid avoid

This place surprises and often exceeds our expectations. The quality of the food is excellent, and whilst not a hugely extensive menu still appears to have something for everyone. (I prefer non-meat options.) The service is well above average too. Serving and clearing is done in an efficient and timely way (unlike many other places!) and contributes to a pleasant experience all round. Nowhere is “cheap” these days, but this achieves good VFM.

Was somewhat apprehensive about booking The Stables based on the recent reviews. Our experience was positive. We met friends and entered the beautiful restaurant with lovely fresh flowers. It has a lovely, relaxed vibe. We’d a young, but very attentive server and she provided excellent service throughout, even though the restaurant was fully booked and as time went on became very busy. Lots of friends and families meeting up and enjoying the beautiful setting of The Grove. We started with a selection of starters to graze on including the sour dough bread (beautiful), mushroom pate and the Isle of Wight Heritage tomato salad (so good, we ordered a second one). Then we had a child’s meal of the chicken goujons, several portions of the classic fish and chips, and the reminder of us had the lamb cutlets. All were excellent. My only criticism would be that the lamb didn’t come with anything so although you’d one side included you really needed both some veg and some carbs, but were forced to choose. For puddings, we’d a section including a stunning lemon tart. In all, a lovely get together of family and friends. And it was a glorious place to spend a couple of hours on a sunny Saturday. It ain’t cheap, but then you’re in a five star hotel. Happy to recommend and we’d certainly revisit if in the area.
