We recently went to this pub for lunch and it was really delicious. My husband had mackerel which had come straight from the Solent. I had the £10 for courses option and I couldn’t believe the amount of food that was in front of me. The chef is Swedish and there are dishes from her country as well as traditional pub grub. My two courses consisted of a traditional Swedish dish followed by chocolate brownie which was just wonderful. If you want to experience some really good home cooking then go and sample this little gem. Can’t wait to go back.

What has happened to this once wonderful pub? The food took forever to come & when it did it was so salty, the plates were cold & the chips were dripping oil. The sausages were very poor quality. The portion sizes were much smaller than they used to be but were much more expensive. I think they are trying to be more fancy but it’s not working

My wife and I went to the Plough earlier this week. It's a bit of a drive as we live in Hazlemere near High Wycombe. But last year we were out for a drive and just called in there on the off chance, for a pint and a Ploughmans. in the garden. What a cracking little pub. It has a great garden, with lots of pub benches and seats. The beer was really well kept, and there was zero alcohol drinks and gin, for those driving. There an extensive menu with lots of pub grub. We ate in the garden although there is a nice looking restaurant inside. When we originally visited we had a ploughmans which was so good, and that was the reason for returning. The food was just as excellent, and very well priced, I think the ploughmans was £8.95 and included, cheddar, stilton, ham and a boiled egg together with a warm baguette and a good salad and pickle. We shall be returning soon to try out the restaurant. For those of you who haven't tried, give it a go I can highly recommend it. There's even a chip menu. I shall be a returnimg customer

My friend and I decided to go here for a meal as lockdown rules had eased so I booked a table in advance. We had a very friendly greeting on arrival. All the tables were suitably spaced apart and all staff wore masks the whole time. The menu was chalked on a board on the wall presumably to avoid unnecessary handling of menus. Our meals were excellent. We had the ham hock and I would thoroughly recommend this. Staff were helpful and friendly. A very enjoyable evening in all respects.

We ended up at the plough by chance on a Sunday afternoon for a late lunch. They have a pretty garden with tables, umbrellas and a small play area for young kids, to include a pirate boat! The whole garden is fenced in and gated so it is safe for small kids to roam around a bit. Food was very nice, we got burgers and hot sandwiches. The burger was served on very good seeded bun. Very kind and pleasant staff. Ample car park.

Friends of ours are here approx 12 years ago and recommend it. We booked for the bank holiday and off we went. It was quite grotty looking and old fashioned country style but the 2 ladies serving were nice and welcoming. We all ordered different things at the bar like curry, burgers, panini, fish bap, Fish fingers, pizza, ploughman’s and some mushrooms and onion rings. The food took a while however when it came it was nice, fresh and well prepared and presented. Not hugely expensive either and no one complained or was unhappy. Only slight issue was the unavailability of some of the menu items which was ok and didn’t effect the overall experience. We didn’t have dessert as we went for a huge walk after lunch which was the purpose of the day. Given the fact there was so many of us I think they did very well to get everything right and out the kitchen to the table. A pleasant experience overall.

This pub is special. We used to visit many years ago when the the kids were young, now we visit with a crowd of friends maybe a dozen time a year, always very enjoyable. I can understand the disappointment expressed by a few reviewers - yes, you may find the bar staff look after their regulars first. Isn't that axiomatic for a local pub, what else did you expect? My advise if you are visiting: be friendly, be patient, respect the regulars - pubs are the place to chat with someone you don't know. Order the homemade puds, you can get all that frozen stuff anywhere. Just enjoy the treat of being in real village local - they are dying out, do what you can to save them. Starting here...
