The best restaurants serving British food in Dacorum East of England

Came on the off chance.. looked cute. Staff were nice.. but was expensive for what it was. I could have made better food at home. I had sausage and mash. Was terrible.. sausages were tasteless and rank. Mash seemed microwaved. And onion gravy was a joke. And peas look like they’d sat in the side all day! Was really disappointed. Also the toilets were disgusting. I have a little girl and I would have preferred her use a bush.

Stopped here for lunch after a recommendation from a lady in a shop. It's was great. Food and coffee was lovely and was a nice chilled atmosphere inside too. Will definitely visit again when I'm in hemel.

Lovely pub, great selection of beers, great atmosphere, friendly staff.

We called at this newly refurbished pub following a walk on Chipperfield Common and really enjoyed a tasty lunch of scampi and chips, carbonara and pint of Tring Brewery "Ridgeway'' craft beer. The prices are good value for this Chiltern area and service was prompt and cheerful.

We had a lovely Sunday dinner here with a view of the canal. Our reservation was for two hours so we did not feel rushed. The food, service and weather were perfect. Highly recommend:)

Lovely pouched eggs on toast at such a reasonable price for high street cafe, kids scrambled egg portion was a good size and again reasonable price. Pot of tea great value, minimum 4 cups in each pot. Will come back.

Very disappointing. Lovely sunny afternoon, should have been buzzing, like it used to be. But there was no atmosphere, just a few people sitting round the edge with a coffee or tea. It was 3.0 on a Friday afternoon in the school holidays. NO CAKE available, no sign of anybody eating food.. Cup of tea was fine but ridiculously expensive at £2.70. It’s in an ideal location, loads of people go there. Bringing it in house is not working. National Trust have destroyed a perfectly good business.

Popped in after a walk, spacious and very clean Had delicious Mediterranean wrap, some chips and salad. Good menu, plenty to choose from. Table had been reserved for us. Food for 15 came out all together, hot and delicious and had been pre-ordered in advance. Very well organised. Staff friendly and hospitable. I'm not a dog fan and would prefer a dog free area, that said I can see that those with dogs would really enjoy it here. Ambiance was functional and sparse but clean and spacious. Will definitely go back again and would try the full English which looked delicious.

Great village pub and the Sunday roast are amazing have to be the best around the Dacorum area and great value for money.

I chose the Black Horse for my wife’s 50th surprise birthday party as they gave live music and we wanted our band to play. From start to finish they were superb, Sophia and Lori were extremely attentive, thoughtful and helpful through the planning and the event. The food and service they provided was outstanding as was the atmosphere in the pub on the day. Needless to say it was a fantastic event. Thank you Black Horse!

We're on a canal boat, and whilst it was a little walk from the canal, it's a lovely stroll and worth it. Friendly staff on hand to help for first time shoppers to locate what you need. Whilst prices are on par or a little more than supermarket prices the produce is far far better quality and well worth it. Needed 4 chicken breasts to feed 3, and got 2, but the size of them made it eqivalent to almost 8 from a supermarket - at half supermarket cost, and tasting much better than any we have had before. Will be coming back with the trolley for a big shop on the return run as not only is it good quality, but it lasts as well so you can stock up and know its still fresh when you are ready for it! A true gem of a farm shop!
