Fabulous warm and friendly pub. Great selection of drinks and food. Highly recommended! Booked for my sons birthday celebration. We enjoyed a lovely evening with great service and very friendly welcome. Great varied selection of drinks and food. Pub was busy, lovely atmosphere. So great to see lit was being supported! Proud to call this pub our local.

Great welcome, great selection of drinks, great food, great spaces! This pub is in a lovely location with a nice size and well decorated indoor characterful space, accompanied by various outdoor options to the back and front including a park and grassy area.

We fancied a walk around Chipperfield Woods, so I had a quick search to find a suitable pub for lunch as well. I found 'The Paddock' had been taken over by new owners and renamed as 'The Chipperfield Boot'. Reviews were suitably glowing so we thought 'why not'? The place more than lives up to said reviews. The new black and white decor is suitably understated as befits a country pub, the beer well kept (or at least my pint of Tring Ridgeway was) and the food excellent. Top notch carbonara and a very fine example of a Ploughman's Lunch. Make sure you ask for a side order of chips - proper chunky ones instead of those extruded potato 'fries' you all too often get. Very friendly staff too. So, overall, this revamped establishment is extremely hard to fault. We'll be back to spend more of our ill-gotten pensions!

Top notch lunchtime meal… and if you are over 60 you get 20% discount Monday - Thursday 12-2pm. First visit but certainly won’t be the last. Well worth a try if you are in the vicinity. Good local beers as well, Cheers, Andy.

Just reopened. What a transformation, now a terrific place to visit. Just had drinks but the welcome and atmosphere is outstanding while I enjoy a beer in the garden.

Went back here to eat last week, had the chicken curry, freshly cooked and was nice although the chicken did look strange dont know what part of the chicken it came from, shame they are only doing Asian menu.

Just had the new Asian Menu at the Boot. Drinks reasonably priced. The food was chef prepared, not from a freezer bag. Calamari, duck spring rolls char Sui all very good. We had Malaysian and Thai green curry. All excellent. Polite and excellent service. We recommend you try it if you like authentic Asian food.

Had travelled a very long way to stay in chipperfield, and this was the highlight of the week! An authentic asian menu that packed a punch!! Friendly welcoming, and down to earth service, and amazing flavours and presentation.

So disappointing. This is not a gastropub. The food was over cooked. Tough cheap cut of beef that was tasteless. Overcooked veg. The beer bottle had no label so weren’t sure what it was. No veggie choice. Only one dessert available. There was no atmosphere as only 2 others covers on a Sunday lunchtime. Sorry but we cannot recommend this at all. Such a disappointment as were treating mum.

It’s not very often that you find a lovely pub by chance that offers food and service as outstanding as this one. Very warm welcome, friendly staff who went out of their way to be helpful. Food was delicious - highly recommend

Four of us, and two dogs, had a late Sunday lunch here after a long walk in the area. The staff were very welcoming and the service throughout was excellent. We had King prawn cocktail (lots of prawns!) then roast lunch. The roasts were very tasty, lots of different veg and Yorkshire pudding. We are too full for pudding sadly! Will definitely visit again.

The owners have made a huge improvement to the Boot. They are polite, really enjoy serving (something that’s got lost in UK) and as are coming from mainly East Europe can ‘really cook’ great food. Their pies are delicious, we’ve eaten soups and stews that are almost impossible to find these days. Their Sunday Roasts are the best in the Bovingdon Chipperfield area. Have been going there off and on for 20 years but it’s at its best now. The beer is good as well. Well done the Boot also nice log burners to keep you warm on the cold nights…

Went on Christmas Day for our festive feast and what a massive disappointment.. We started with a prawn cocktail which was the worse version I have ever had the misfortune to be served . The portion size was minutes, there were no prawns just about 5 shrimps on a tiny bit of iceberg lettuce served with a wedge of tomato and lemon, no brown bread served but when asked may we have some bread we were served a warmed brioche burger bun cut in 2 !!! Christmas dinner was no better , no Brussel sprouts no pigs in blankets 3 small frozen potatoes with some veg and 1 slice of slice of turkey , when asked if we could have more we were told that is what is allocated to each person and we would be charged extra if we wanted more turkey . The plate was flooded in a bland gravy . No one should leave the Christmas table hungry , alas we did , this was one of the worse Christmas dinners i’ve ever had . Will never go back . We didn’t complain as pointless and didn’t want to ruin the day for our elderly mother .

Last visit was 3 years ago, and was somewhat put off returning by the rather rude and unprofessional landlady. Saw that it had changed name and management, so thought we'd give it another chance, and the change is definitely for the better. Reasonably priced Sunday roast which was absolutely fine, staff friendly, efficient and attentive without being over fussy.

Went to the boot we herd it was open under new management nice cosy pub but over priced wines we both decided to try a starter I had a prawn cocktail and my wife had a fish cake my prawn cocktail was poorly presented in a small white bowl with two soggy strips of white breads at a cost of £9.50 was it value for money I don’t think so my wife had a fish cake ok but only just £8.50 so we decided to skip mains lots of pubs in this area I would say it is one of the most expensive

Went for lunch with my Mum and from start to finish it was a really great dining experience. The staff were really friendly and welcoming, pub was clean and tidy and had a great range of drinks, alcoholic and non-alcoholic. We took our dog with us and he was made to feel just as welcome as the humans which was lovely! Food was amazing too! Started with creamy garlic mushrooms which were delicious followed by Salmon mains with garlic mash, asparagus and beetroot aioli. All the flavours complimented each other so well, it was a great meal. Will definitely be going back to try out more of the menu!

A lovely find on a stopover for Warner bros studios. A short drive from the premier inn at Kings Langley. Found this on Tripadvisor and thought we would give it a go. Super friendly and welcoming staff, cosy old pub with fire on the go . Absolutely fabulous food for all 4 of us. Definitely recommend to anyone.

Stopped in for a pint today late afternoon, the roasts looked so good just had to try one. Nice, medium rare beef, separate gravy, but mean on the spuds but the 4 veg made up for it. Manager Dimitri new and very friendly. Pride on draft, happy days!

I thought it couldn’t get worse - it did. Why is it ok to just ‘substitute’ the herb mayo with barbecue sauce!?!? No explanation, nothing said… you just get it plonked in front of you…. This was also after 3 people being told there was no fish when they wanted to order fish and chips…. So they had to go for the chicken schnitzel instead….. But, to be honest, the food would have to be bloody amazing to make up for the dire service - and it isn’t…. We waited ages for food - and even longer for drinks - and that was when we were actually able to order them - which wasn’t often as no one serviced the table… A stupid hand written bill - which wasn’t correct, but by the time we’d been in there for 4.5hrs for a bit of food - and even less drinks - I really couldn’t be arsed to query…. So the £330 bill was duly paid. I thought maybe the first visit was an ‘off’ day, I thought I’d give it a second chance…. I won’t be giving it a third…. It was truly shocking

Great friendly service from Sarah. Food was piping hot and delicious. Desert was forgotten about and we had to ask for it. There was a delay in my daughter’s pudding so she had to wait longer (aged 1) My jug with custard in was dirty around the bottom and the plates were not as clean as I would expect. Definitely let down by the pudding.

Unacceptably rude, by which I consider from the other reviews - over a period of years - is the owner. Got upset because we used a table for too long just for coffee. If an establishment has a maximum stay or minimum spend maybe advertise, not sure a high street cafe can operate at that level. Asked to leave to free up the table, which we happily did. No reason to return but a lifetime memorable unpleasant memory from an angry, rude business owner. Do you remember when.... Chains only and Waitrose free to avoid this potential unpleasantness from small businesses in future.
