Bel Caffe in Dacorum

Great high street cafe with smooth coffee and a really good full English.

Food was nice (though less chicken than expected) No prices on the main menus or food (there was a barcode but it could have been for anything)

Pleasant. Some people stake out the outdoor seating for hours in this heat. Not a complaint, but it depends on the weather! (Note that I took the photo at a different time so as not to embarass anyone)

I can say that the taste of coffee has changed lately.

High street caff. I love the food and coffee that I get here. I'm not telling you what I eat, because then you might buy it all. But it's filling, tasty, and good value. The coffee must be great, as I can drink it black without pulling a face. Service always pleasant and as rapid as possible, throughput allowing. I will continue to visit here. Thank you.

Very little coffee shop, was not too expensive which was good but not something that I would go again.

A medium-sized coffee shop on the main street with some pavement seating, a nice welcome and good service and reasonably priced.

Lovely food, served by lovely people

Sat at a table on the pavement, clean and tidy. We ordered inside at the till but they delivered the drinks to us. Excellent service and nice coffee.

By far the best cafe in Berko. I love their salads & the home made cakes & cookies are always worth breaking the diet for.

Unfortunate experience this morning. I popped in for 2 rolls and a coffee to go. They cannot cope with the level of customers and are clearly not very well trained or experienced. I left empty handed and 20 quid lighter after a 45min wait. Seems our order went twice to people who ordered after us. No systems in place. Surprised they are in business.

Very nice coffee, for my taste bud of course. Unless i have an espresso, i prefer my coffee with milk. And to top it up, I add a fair amount of sugar. I can hear the "real" coffee amateurs who cannot conceive that coffee cannot be "really" appreciated if mixed with milk and/or sugar. Funny enough, I understand that purists enjoy their coffee when for me it tastes like a flat and hot Guiness. Why couldn't they accept others love their coffee sweet and rich? Anyway, Bel Air serves à delicious coffee in a warm atmosphere, still bright enough thanks to its white painted walls. There is also a small terrace right on the High Street pavement.. a place to go, and to return, just to lake sure it's that good.

Best Chai Latte I've ever tasted. We also had 2 toasties which were lovely. Highly recommended.

I went here with a friend that was staying at the local monastery for a coffee. Such lovely staff and relaxed surroundings. A bubbly girl working there was overjoyed as thought I looked like someone she knew, very friendly ladies. Felt like a family run place. There is no blaring music playing like some of the cafes these days and more affordable than other independents on the high street. Not one of these modern, trendy jobs, but a decent homey cafe. I left a bag on the floor and lady working there rushed out a minute later giving it to me. Gems. Thank you so much!!

Have had avocado toast eggs here before. One of the best breakfast places in Berkhamstead. Service great but place always full ... Lovely coffee and good choice of cakes here .

Upon arrival to the cafe I was utterly amazed to be confronted by Albert Steptoe with tourette's!! However I must say the coffee was absolutely lovely and very well priced.

Awful service the man in charge with grey hair gives everyone under the age of 40 dirty looks constantly he’s also very rude and blunt, it took 20 mins to get two pannis and we’re over done when we revived them! Won’t return the guy is a C***! The panini was awful to much cheese and hardly any bacon and chicken

I did enter the cafe half an hour before closing but didn’t expect the lack of care to atmosphere for the customer. Loudly chatting amongst themselves, and I think the odd swear word thrown in- and the sweeping and stacking of chairs. They seemed far too interested in leaving for the day rather than looking after the customers they had. I won’t be returning. I would have thought you clear up after the customers have left and the shop is shut?

Busy afternoon in Berkhamsted, managed to get a table for two. The flat white was very good as was the tea, even though it was just a teabag in a cup, lovely sausage sandwich and the carrot cake was lovely and light. Good efficient service. Many thanks to all the staff

Amazing Breakfast! My 1st visit, but my kids had been before! I paid for breakfast & thought, £7.50 that's very good value! Then it arrived, 2 Eggs, 2 Sausages & 2 Bacon, along with the Beans & 2 Toast - Amazing Value - I'll be back, Thanks x

Rude and unwelcoming. Didn’t get to try their food. Older lady serving was very unaccommodating. Shame as there were 7 of us looking to dine for breakfast. Found somewhere else who were willing to seat us.

went in for the first time to get some food and sit down, it was quite noisy as it’s next to a big road but when sitting inside, it’s not too bad. milkshakes are nice but very sweet and rocky road had grey powder on the top of it but it turned out to be sugar, overall alright

We had an amazing experience. Lovely staff, very attentive. We had a quick misunderstanding of communication with the coffee request due to our barrier language, but they were very quickly to fix it and even brought it to the car. The lemon cake was the best cake I have tried,very fluffy. It's definitely a place to stop for a coffee!!

Excellent little cafe. Delicious food. Very friendly and accomodating..cannot wait to go back there. They dont rush you, very relaxed. Met a friend there after not seeing them for 20 months and we didnt feel pressured to leave. XX

Good coffee. Welcome was non existent - attitude of lady was distinctly off - a real sales prevention officer. Very odd when plenty of competition.

Went in today to get a coffee, (always like to support more independent coffee shops) asked for a Flat White (large) didn't know they didn't do large flat white, was charged £5.60 when challenged the man behind the counter (who is the owner) snapped at me rudely " we don't do large flat whites and you asked for two coffees'.. I didn't, he heard me wrong, he was irate and downright rude to me, I took my 2 coffees and left without challenging, he needs to change his attitude if he wants to keep customers, horrible rude little man. WONT BE RETURNING will be going to Cafe Nero in future!

Very welcoming, friendly staff couldn't do enough for us. On this basis we will make a point of going back again whenever we're in the High Street.

Love this place. It's a great and friendly cafe. The service is really good and fast. I had a flavoured latte (hazelnut flavour.) Was tasty. The food also looks lovely. Definitely recommend this place.

Visited today after lockdown always a friendly welcome from the owner had loverly pot of tea and a bacon and egg sandwich my partner had scrambled eggs on toast great value and was fantastic can’t recommend this little cafe enough Keep up the good work

Had a very nice coffee here on 1st November, we sat outside where there are a few tables but there were also tables you could sit at inside. They also have toilets that customers can use. A nice place for a coffee and cake!

Arrived an hour before closing on Saturday. Quick service and nice hot chocolate but a bit pushy on getting people out by starting cleaning before closing with a really strong bleach.

Not good I'm afraid. Complained politely about staff not wearing a mask, wearing them below their noses if they were, dirty spoons, not wiping tables as indicated by the signs they had in place. Ill never go back to a place that doesn't take hygiene seriously, specially in this climate.

Sadly they have lost there way a bit with the coronavirus. The food was limited and just about ok, but missing its pre-coronavirus favour. Service a good.

Nice morning, but sitting outside and never got the coffees we had ordered, paid for, and were told would "be right with you"... People next to us were served, drank their coffee and left. When I poked my head round the door, was told they will be with you shortly (or rather was told shortly they will be with you). Pastries (long since eaten) had been average, so cut losses and headed for Nero. Doubt will be returning.

Popped in for lunch with my daughter before we went to the Rex cinema. Staff friendly and helpful. My chicken mayo sandwich was nice but my daughter's meatball panini was amazing! Really good.

We found this cafe externally attractive and inviting- so we went in. Found cakes delicious, good welcoming friendly service, and good ambience. Nearly five star. We recommend.

Cheese & Onion Toastie - yum. Smoothest Latte and a large pot of tea. Great place with staff where nothing is too much trouble. I'll be back. Great prices too.

Dont be put off by the rather unattractive display of food, I nearly was, but the food and drink was actually just what we wanted. The paninis especially are really good and very generously filled, great coffee and lots of teas. Newspapers are available, great place after a wintry walk.

Having read a couple of bad reviews on google about the Bel Caffe, I couldnt believe this to be true!! I have been coming to this café for the last 5 years and the staff here have only ever been polite, cheerful, and happy to help me and my family in anyway they can. Service and food has always been brilliant! Clearly Brian and Reece were having a bad day before they stepped into this place.

The staff in this place are the most unhelpful “jobsworths” we have ever come across in this town They even refused to provide details of the owner or how to contact her about a complaint about service of an elderly (91 year old) gent As a result two of the three of us ate and drank nothing losing the business money as well as goodwill through their attitude.

Visiting a friend who suggested we try the bel Caffe, and it was an excellent suggestion.There is some on road parking close by (disabled and non-disabled) and there are car parks close by.Access to the shop is good for wheel chair access, although the tables are a little close together, so some rearranging of furniture may be necessary.There is a small area with comfy chairs and a box of kids toys, they had no issue with two man occupying the space for a couple of hours... only small draw back it is next to the 1 toilet, so there is a constant stream of people walking past.The toilet is ok, but you’d probably have a few issues with a wheelchair and a carer in there. No hand grips or bars. And the baby change does block the entrance when left down.The staff were friendly, knowledgeable about their food and drink available. Our order was taken and arrived shortly after very nicely cooked and well presented, and it tasted fab.We ate, we talked, we had extra drinks, and we were left alone...no attempt to get us to leave because we’d stopped ordering.Very nice, relaxing and comfortable.

This cafe is a nice quiet place to enjoy a quality coffee, the place is clean, the staff are very accommodating and they are open quite late. I have had a number of nice coffees here, clearly they make a better cup than some of the major names in the coffee business. When I'm in Berkhampstead, I will always buy my coffee from here.

It’s been a year since I last had the chance to enjoy a coffee and a cake here, so it was great to find that it was every bit as good as the first time. Lovely, friendly and efficient staff added to a pleasant interior to create a really good ambience. My cappuccino was excellent and the pain au raisin was very good. Plus they do those yummy Portuguese cakes, Pastel de Nata. I shall be back!

I've used Costa for many years as it's in a great spot but it was super busy last weekend and we wanted some coffee without waiting for a seat to drink it at. We decided to try the Bel Caffe as Fred and Ginger is always infested with Lycra clad cyclists (I never did like the Max Wall look).

Freshly prepared food, friendly service and cosy atmosphere.

I've been here twice in the last year or so and the food is lovely and there is a great selection. This time I had the chicken, mozzarella and pesto panini which was very tasty and was quite large so excellent value. My americano coffee was superb too.

Diabolical service, rude staff, waited 45 min for a breakfast, forgot my coffee, didn’t bring any toast and when we finally got our food it was over cooked. Air con was on (early November!) full blast so it was freezing inside. All in all a terrible experience.

There are a variety of places to eat on the High Street but I am glad we chose Bel Caffe. There is plenty of choice, friendly staff and great value for money.

This is a small cafe on the high street with outside tables. The coffee was good and we all had jacket potatoes with different toppings. Very good can recommend

Stopped in at this cafe for brunch. We got a table inside without any problem. The staff were very helpful and pleasant. I placed our order at the counter and paid there. We did not have time to wait for our drinks which were as we had requested. The food came a few minutes later it was nice and hot and enjoyable to eat. After eating we sat back and enjoyed the rest and people watched for a while before venturing outside to see a little more of the town. A very pleasant interlude.

Reviewing on instruction of my 10 year old son who said milkshake was the best he’d ever had. Coffee/paninis/cake all fab too. Recommend as best value for money cafe in the town.

A welcoming spot that’s great for lunch, coffee and a catch-up. The staff were friendly, the wait for food wasn’t very long and the bacon roll I ordered was delicious! A tad pricey, but would still highly recommend!

Have called in here a couple of times when visiting Berkhamsted and know we can be guaranteed a fab coffee. We love strong decaf and so often struggle to find it but Bel Cafe always make a perfect cup. Friendly team look after you and the cafe is bright and clean. Nice atmosphere. Several people tucking into breakfast here today. Good range of meals available during the day as well as cakes, pastries and snacks. Head for Bel if you are in town. They won’t disappoint.
