Another excellent meal had at this lovely country pub. Food is always tasty and plentiful and served by friendly helpful staff. This will not be our last visit here.

There were many things wrong with our experience at the banham smokehouse. To begin, when we arrived, we were told that they were heavily understaffed and that our booking had not been properly arranged. We waited in the lobby for a good 5 minutes as the staff scrambled around the restaurant, ignoring us as we waited for someone to actually tell us what was going on with our reservation. When we were finally seated, we were handed grubby, paper menus that had food stuck to them. Our drink orders were taken efficiently after we sat done, however, the same cannot be said for our food orders. We waited almost 20 minutes for our orders to be taken as the staff tended to other tables, some even had their desert orders taken and had finished eating them before we had even made our orders! Despite being understaffed on one of the busiest days of the year for food service, either the manager or owner (someone of great responsibility when it comes to running the restaurant on such a busy night) sat down and spoke with one of the customers the whole time we were there… over an hour! Not helping staff members with the management of the restaurant despite the fact they were (again) understaffed. It is incredibly rude to the staff members that had to work extra hard to accommodate customers and quite frankly unprofessional. When we finally got our food, about 25 minutes after ordering, we were quite underwhelmed by the portion sizes. despite paying £17 for a chicken burger, what we received was just not up to the standard that we would expect for £17. The chips were lukewarm and hard when they came out, the only bearable part of the meal was the mac and cheese which was fantastic! When we had finished our meal, we sat with dirty plates for about 20 minutes before a member of our table had to ask the waiter themselves to take them and provide us with a desert menu. We decided on our desserts quickly, however was met with the disastrous service once again. At this point there was only about 2 other tables to cater to, yet we waited around 10 minutes for someone to take our order before ultimately deciding it was not worth it and decided to pay and get straight out of there. Overall, the food is mediocre at best for an extortionate price and the service is shocking… so do not bother! Definitely not one to come back to!

Excellent place for a bit of breakfast! My husband and I decided to give this place a go having heard from a friend about it. We were amazed at the prices of the menu and the choices of food! The staff were lovely and the food was very nice too. Such great value for money and a lovey little place to go for a bit of breakfast or lunch at the weekend!

The food was good and the service was quick, which didn’t hinder the quality delivered to our table. It was reasonably priced for a breakfast and it included a tea or coffee as well as toast too. It was nice to see black pudding on a menu!

Consistent good time after time. The employees are always friendly and recognise the locals, and food is always good and very generous portions. Often in fish and chip shops there is little difference in size between a medium and large cod but not here! The large is properly large. Ive never had a long wait and I’ve never had a bad meal here.

I went for a private matter with the Landlord , but had a refreshing Cola with ice as I left as it was the hottest day of the year so far (April 29th) ,, the Pub is gorgeous, right in the middle of the towns triangular centre. It's an old pub, clean. The entire area has large pedestrianised pavements, the pub has a delightful covered seating out front allowing people watching and being seen. They have lots of hanging baskets which makes the old pub very pretty. Due to its location and street management it has a very European or Parisian feel. I saw the rear court yard where the rooms are , but didn't see inside.

We went for Sunday Lunch as a large family group of 20, and the team at The Bell looked after us very well. The roast was very good, everything (apart from the roast potatoes which were disappointing as they were a under done) was cooked to perfection and very tasty. They managed to fit us all into our own little side room over 2 tables which was perfect for such a big group. I would recommend The Bell if you are in the area.

Service was very good. Staff were friendly and very helpful. There was free parking but no wifi and no mobile phone reception. I had the Church Wardens pie for lunch with minced pork and very mild chili. This was served with vegetables and chips and gravy. The pie had a strange taste indeed which I did not enjoy.

I went to The Bull today for a Christmas lunch. The pub looked amazing with gorgeous decorations everywhere, Christmas trees and open log fires giving a great ambiance. They opened specifically for us as normally they only do Sunday lunches. The food was delicious, beautifully presented and plentiful. Everyone had a perfect Christmas experience and the service was excellent.

It's a shame this lovely little venue is still closed down even now covid regulations have lifted but fortunately they still do food takeaway /delivery. I couldn't find the menu online to see what they offer, but I was able to call and as it was Sunday order the Sunday roast. This is available as a small or large, which is a nice option, as I personally prefer a smaller portion. I did ask if they had a vegan option , which they didn't but as a one off I had the vegetarian nut roast and was able ask for it without the Yorkshire or cauliflower cheese. Even as a small portion , it was really generous and had lots of vegetables, which makes me happy. Would certainly order from here again and even more so I look forward to this venue opening its doors hopefully soon, so I can enter the venue for food and drinks .
