A super little place. Very rural. very quiet, very homely. Sue, is a great host and her husband an even greater chef. Dinner is really home cooked food. No frozen pre bought stuff here. Breakfast? Fantastic! Cooked to order and 5* plus. This pub is so laid back and homely. Nothing is too much trouble. Even gave us fresh milk for our in room tea & coffee. If you want a simple , quiet, relaxing overnight stay, this is the place. Well done and thank you for a very very pleasant 2 night stay.

The staff were very helpful, friendly and welcoming. We were staying in a property not too far from The Bull and decided to eat here on our first night. The food and service was excellent, the staff asked 2 or 3 times if everything was ok making sure we were happy. We were thinking of booking for Sunday lunch, unfortunately, we didn't have the chance to eat here again due to issues with the property we had booked and had to head home the next day. I recommend the food here.

We are not prolific reviewers but felt it was time to mention our experiences at The Bull. We have been eating an evening meal here, two or three times a year when in north Norfolk for the past three or four years. We have yet to be disappointed ! Great menu with both traditional dishes and other cuisines. So, last night we had steak and kIdney pie and a sirlion steak, cooked to perfection - thank you and thank you again for not changing anything and maintaining the standard, very happy diners.

We visited Litcham in June for a week’s holiday and to attend a wedding. We self cater and normally only eat out once or twice in the evening. On our first night we discovered the Bull Inn. Apart from the wedding and a fish meal at Wells-next—the-Sea we ate at the Bull every night. A little bit of a wait for food but as it’s freshly cooked to order by Clive we didn’t mind the wait. Very reasonably priced. Generous portions. Beautifully fresh vegetables. Comfortable environment and a bar managed and efficiently run by Liz and her team. If it wasn’t 370 miles away we’d be back again and again.

We met up with friends who are lucky enough to have this lovely pub as their local. Sue is a great front of house and husband Clive does the cooking assisted by friendly servers, proper traditional pub food, delicious and plentiful. We all went for the roasts which were as close to home made as I have ever tasted. Somehow we made room for dessert which were all homemade and tasty. In a county where traditional pubs like this are vast becoming food led pretentious gastropubs, this fab local is a rare find.

I visited here after work to meet up with a friend and have a bite as I had drove past many times and wondered what it was like. Fortunately it is convenient to my friend and me in terms of work and homes, so booked up.There is plenty to chose from on the menu board. I always order whitebait if its available and that was great. Another no-brainer is if steak and kidney pie is on the menu, which it was. The pie looked good, but I won't be ordering it again as the kidney turned out to be mushrooms, which I would never eat and didn't. My friend had the whitebait too and had a roast, which looked good and he enjoyed. We both then had deserts and tea and coffee. The portions were generous. If your really hungry you won't be disappointed. The service is warm and friendly and the atmosphere is great as it's a really old building. Car park would benefit from a bit more lighting. This pub may be I the middle of a refurbishment. There was a skip in the car park and a picture on the wall still had clingfilm wrap on.I liked the fact that this is still very much a traditional English pub. No frills. Like stepping back I time. I wasn't convinced about the choice of music (Celine Dion) but that's down to personal choiceSome items of the menu seemed a bit pricey. Both hubby and I opted for a ploughman's lunch. It was very traditional and basic. I enjoyed mine, hubby was less impressed. The staff were friendly. This wasn't a pub that made me want to come back but I couldn't quite say why. What a find...A traditional pub with friendly staff, interesting menu and delicious food!Don't be put off by the exterior. Inside you find a good old fashioned, nothing fancy, down to earth, warm and welcoming environment. Lovely family atmosphere shared by locals and visitors alike, including a "last night of freedom before the wedding" table of 8/10 men, two youngsters playing a board game with not an electronic device in sight, and the landlady trying her hand at some matchmaking. We had a lovely evening - thank you.

A group of friends decided The Bull was just the place to catch up over a meal. The signs weren't good from the start- a audience as we got out of the car and a definite quietening of the bar as we walked in. We decided to skip the bar and head straight for the table. The menu was a chalk board propped on a chair....bring your glasses or a magnifying glass. The menu is less than inspiring as its literally the title and no detail. A far bit was sold out and £3.25 for a jug of sauce seemed a little OTT. We opted to give the starters a miss in the hope that the desserts would be better. When the food delivered it looked basic to say the least, nothing to dress it up a bit and make it look attractive. It all tasted ok but no more than that...be warned the scampi comes with an absolute mountain of dull green peas! The dessert list was overly inspirational either but we gave it a go. It was bought to the table served like your nan has dished it up and one order didn't turn up at all. Cheese and biscuits is remenistent of aeroplane food, complete with packets of butter. The whole thing was very home-like in the least positive way! The bill even came with payment options/varying total amounts depending on your method of payment. We won't be returning, the room and bar was so loud that hearing each other was impossible, the service was variable and involved daring to go back to the bar to be stared at if you wanted a drink. And to leave, you have to dodge the staff out the back smoking...

Cosy bar. Attentive staff. Menu basic. Food nothing special. Roast was school dinner rather than restaurant quality. It's been a long time since I had a desert served up on a tea plate with large dollop of cheap tasting ice cream, which had been scraped out of the tub with a spoon and laid over the pie, rather than a scoop/ball of ice cream. Food lacked presentation skills and flavour. Reminded me of basic uninspiring meals of the 70's. Lemon meringue pie tasted watery and no flavour, like it had been frozen.

We were walking the Nar Valley Way and wanted a pub lunch. The Bull is perfect. It is an old coaching inn which has a public bar with an inglenook fireplace and a smarter restaurant, also with a beautiful inglenook. The bar has twelve (yes, 12) beers on tap and we enjoyed those which we tried. The public bar inglenook had a fire blazing away, very welcoming. Both rooms have oak beams and the ambience is excellentThere is a wide selection of sandwiches, all served with green salad and the most perfect chips; crisp on the outside and fluffy inside. The soup of the day (which changes every day) was beef and vegetable broth served with warm crispy rolls, just what was needed after a brisk autumn walk. The main menu looked to be extensive and we will return for a "proper" meal before long. If it's as good as the bar snacks it will be excellent.

The Bull Inn at Litcham is a welcoming family run pub in a typical West Norfolk village. We dined as a family one Friday evening. The bar has a wide selection of real ales, with an innovative wall of mini-casks offering a great selection of regional and national beers. The dinner menu is absolutely vast - too large, in fact - as there are more than enough good dishes that use local produce. The breadth of the menu suggests that a lot of ingredients aren't fresh, so I'd suggest sticking to the regularly updated specials board.Good value, attentive service from the landlady and her employees and good place to enjoy a pint of real ale.

We arrived just after lunchtime service had finished, so we asked if we could buy from the Bar Menu and the staff were more than happy to serve us although the kitchen had closed. While we waited for our food we sampled some of the many real ales I like " Worth the Wait" a Beeston Brewery Ale then Reed Cutter a Humpy Dumpy Brew both very nice, they also sell bottled beers from other Countries. As we had Bar meals I'm unable to comment on the Sunday Roasts but our food was very nice with areasonable price, as I paid by cash I was given a 5 o/o discount, I thought that was a nice touch as they didn't have to do it. The Pub itself is a typical old Country Pub with low door frames and beams and a wood burner in the fireplace, it our type of pub cosy, the decor is clean and fresh as are the toilets. The evening Menu looked extensive with a lot of choice, it made me want to go back, so if you live in the Dereham Swaffham Fakenham area and can't decide where to go for a change try the Bull at Litcham it's worth the short drive... Went with 2 pals one evening, not booked but made very welcome by the landlady. slightly difficult to order drinks at the bar as all the locals sit in front of it and seem to resent diners trying to read the menu boards or push past to order drinks, however the bar staff took our order to one side of the bar and we sat to decide on what to eat. The food was served swiftly, home made steak and kidney was a real star, as was liver and bacon. Really good value, good beer and sensibly priced wine with a better than usual choice. Just train the regular drinkers to be a little more accommodating and it will be nearly perfect.

I just want to point out that the picture at the top of the page and the website link both relate to a completely different pub in another county.

Had some friends visiting and decided to try the Bull for Sunday lunch. Nice interior. Starters arrived at different times so half of us had eaten before some had arrived. All of us chose the roast. The veg was very over-cooked, the yorkshires were rock hard and the potatoes felt like they'd been cooked a good while before and warmed up - very poor meal. I felt embarrassed as we'd brought friends and had high hopes. Staff seemed a bit apathetic, service fairly dire, no-one seemed bothered about the delay - to experience such shabby service when the pub was almost empty was surprising. obviously not too concerned about getting repeat business. We're local and will definitely not be returning.

Nice enough pub with friendly staff but the Sunday roast was really quite disappointing. We booked for a late slot and this may have contributed to the over cooked feel of the meals. The roasts arrived already plated up, rather than having the veg separate so there is no opportunity to pick which items you want with your meal. The veg itself was very stewed, the yorkshires were exceptionally hard and although the meat content of my steak and kidney pie was tasty the crust was difficult to cut! This whole meal had a rather "old fashioned" cafe feel about it rather than what I would have envisaged when looking for a carvery type Sunday lunch. The pricing was as I'd expect, however the fact that there is a 5% discount for cash isn't really mentioned on the web-site so I didn't pop to a cashpoint before as I would have done if I'd known. (In reality this type of pricing structure is more a surcharge for using a card rather than a discount to my mind)The main menu looks quite interesting and maybe we caught it on a bad day but unfortunately we won't be racing back to find out.

We have just moved to Norfolk having lived in France for many years. One thing was immediately apparent to us, the sad demise of village pubs both in terms of numbers and quality. The Bull, in our neighbouring village is therefore a real delight for us. Beautifully restored, not themed by a pub chain, the Bull offers a vast selection of real ales including Beeston Brewery's first class bitter in a warm, inviting atmosphere. Sue, the landlady works hard up front, whilst her husband Clive prepares the excellent wholesome fare featured on the quite extensive menu. Great quality, good selection, lovely atmosphere all at reasonable prices. This place deserves to be well supported.

I have lived in this area for 7 years. The Bull had such a poor reputation We never went in. I had heard some good reports about the new owners. So we paid a visit. It is a wonderful building and has not been over modernised inside and it still feels original with the outside. I had a first class pint of Beeston Brewery " Worth the Wait". and proper pub food. Well prepared and good value .I would not hesitate to recomend The Bull and we are so pleased to have a proper pub so near.

Excellent village pub serving up good home cooked food in a beautiful setting. Two log fires in the winter, good beers and wines. Litcham is a lovely village to visit too.

The local pub was within walking distance, which was a bonus. We were very welcome. One meal was OK but my steak and kidney pie was very chewy. We decided to drive the next night

For years the best Sunday roast round here was to be had in North Elmham until the couple who ran that restaurant/pub moved here. Slightly further to go (for us) but still so excellent and one of if not *the* best meals round here. Portions are slightly down - thank goodness, no more groaning stomach - and this is now a more sophisticated waitress-served lunch rather than a buffet. I personally missed the swedes (and the option for all three of roast beef, roast pork and steak and kidney pie!!) but the main thing is, this is lovely grub. How they do such wonderful roast potatoes in quantity and melt-in-the-mouth cracking beats me. All the staff are quick and helpful, my partner's missing stuffing and crackling turned up seconds after she tried to steal mine - unsuccessfully, I might add.
