I came here with my daughter for an impromptu lunch - I'd heard good reviews so decided to drop in when driving through Mattishall. My daughter is dairy-intolerant and this can make it quite tricky to eat out as so many things contain 'hidden' milk and/or butter... but the staff were really helpful and happily double-checked ingredients for us - nothing was too much trouble. The food itself was freshly-prepared and tasty, with prices very reasonable for the quality. We shall definitely be coming back at some point soon, to try some of the other things on the menu... can recommend the steak and onion baguette, with gorgeously fluffy chips... but there's so much more!

Local village pub where we were staying for the week, what a fantastic place, lovely friendly landlords who have renovated a gorgeous building, great food, roaring log fire, highly recommend if your in the area

Had a lovely walk to the pub for drinks and food (Saturday), checked opening times and at 12.15pm we arrived and it's in darkness nothing going on at all, tried to call, no answer! Well all I can say is won't be going there then! Not good business practice at all. 😠

I went for a private matter with the Landlord , but had a refreshing Cola with ice as I left as it was the hottest day of the year so far (April 29th) ,, the Pub is gorgeous, right in the middle of the towns triangular centre. It's an old pub, clean. The entire area has large pedestrianised pavements, the pub has a delightful covered seating out front allowing people watching and being seen. They have lots of hanging baskets which makes the old pub very pretty. Due to its location and street management it has a very European or Parisian feel. I saw the rear court yard where the rooms are , but didn't see inside.
