Extremely disappointed. Booked as a joint birthday meal with family. Firstly, it was freezing cold as soon as we walked in the door and was very cold at our table. Took a good 15/20 for a waitress to come and take our order. Food then took about 30/45 minutes to come out to us and there was only 1 other table occupied in the restaurant. Food very bland and basic, plate was filled with fries (average) and the chicken burger I had was more like a chicken nugget in a tiny bun, very poor. No flavour. Had mac and cheese as a side, don’t bother it was pasta in a strange herby sauce, not cheese at all. Bought as a side for my little boy to eat too but he did not like it at all. No kids menu. Waitress offered a free drink due to the birthdays which was a nice touch. However doesn’t make up for the poor food and crazy prices for mostly a plate of fries. Really not impressed with the sizes of the burgers. My partner upgraded his fries which were just smothered in Cajun powder what a rip off. Spending nearly £20 a head on a tiny burger and plate of fries is disgusting. Overall, extremely disappointed as we were really looking forward to our birthday meal. Not what we expected at all. Wish we took our custom elsewhere.

I was invited to go by a friend as he wanted to try it before booking for a larger family celebration. On arrival we were shown to a table that we didn’t feel would be comfortable and were then placed on a table in the middle of the restaurant. A drinks order was taken but took over fifteen minutes to deliver. The floor staff didn’t seem happy, and I had to make three requests during the meal to get a 2nd beer. There are too many tables in the place, a loose American diner scheme is lost by how busy the floor is. Sitting on a central table we had to either lean over our table to allow people to walk though or be barged or have our chairs kicked. I ordered a Southern Chicken Burger. What was served was surprisingly small for the price tag of £16.95. The piece of chicken certainly wasn’t a fillet, more like a piece from a supermarket bag of frozen chicken bits. My friends was not much better. The ambient noise level is loud and the string of LED lights that run back and forth across the ceiling flashed in a manic fashion. Not sure why they are necessary? We asked for our bill and were offered an iPad with a figure on it asking if I wanted to leave a gratuity. I asked for a breakdown of the invoice as I was curious to see what we’d been charged for the sprinkling of Cajun dust on the chips. £2.50 for the ‘upgrade!’. The iPad developed a fault apparently and I was told that a break down could not be given. We then waited a while whilst the technical error was resolved. We went to the bar area whilst we were waiting and tried to buy another drink but the barman did everything but make eye contact with us! Looking at the floor for a lot of the time. A young lady bought a card machine again without a breakdown and said we could not be given one. The evening was truly underwhelming! Needless to say my friends family will not be using this restaurant. I hope the owners take some of these points on board as the idea is a good one but the execution poor. Trying to squeeze as many covers in as possible I can understand but it’s at the expense of customer comfort. The floor staff just looked plainly unhappy or disinterested. A check to see how things were would have resulted in additional drink sales. Attached is a picture of the burger and fries. Smaller than your average McDonalds or Burger King and over twice the price. Prices like these need the experience to be so much better.

We went on Friday night, place was busy, but don't let that fool you, food has no taste, matches the fact of no service, shame was looking forward to it. Its not as advertised and you can do better at home getting the meat , chips amd desert from aldi , you will fo a better job and save yourself.

What can I say? I assume the glowing reviews are due to them offering money off vouchers if you give them a good review, as I've really got nothing positive to say. Cold food. Tasteless food. Larger, tastier burgers at McDonald's. Freezing cold restaurant, flat coke and a rather nasty uncomfortable experience. Staff seemed friendly, but didn't seem to care. Frozen shop bought desserts and awful food. Definitely not an American smoke house diner and slightly worrying when it's mention about dealing drugs in the toilet doors. Don't waste your time or money.

The restaurant is very warm and welcoming, with an American diner look. It’s very clean and staff are very friendly. The food is incredibly delicious and it never disappointed on any of our visits. They are accommodating to babies with actual high chairs with a table and will do smaller portions when asked for, which is brilliant for smaller children/babies just trying foods. Always recommend to family/friends.

This is fantastic food, very good flavours.good menu. Best bbq casual dinning experience in Norfolk.my favourite are the ribs, full rack rich smoky sauce, mac n cheese, fries, corn on the cob. The burnt end starter is gorgeous tender meat with tasty toppings. Thoroughly recommend the food and service.

We have visited the smokehouse on lots of occasions. Always find the staff friendly . Food is well presented and very tasty , never had a bad meal from there . New table and chairs are lovely . Will definitely be return

Heard a lot about this place so booked with high hopes. Maybe you shouldn't listen to hype, because we would only rate it as ok. The ribs were huge, and meaty, but unfortunately we're not covered in bbq sauce as expected, but a really herb flavoured rub. Very dissapointing. We had the burnt ends as a small dish, very tasty but very small. Friends had burgers, which were enjoyed. Good...but nothing special. Glad we tried it...but won't be in a rush to go back

I heard alot of great things about this place and was very eager to try there food so I did the chips are great and well seasoned the mac and cheese is very cheesy and delicious the home made slaw is very good also but the steak was real let down never have I ever had steak that was so gristly and very plain like it wasn't seasoned before it was cooked maybe I just had a bad cut but my partners steak was exactly same different cut of the cow though big let down 😕

I was amazed to find largely good reviews for this restaurant. I went with my family recently, the food was expensive, cold and poor quality. The restaurant itself was grubby and poorly decorated, and the toilets looked like they handy been modernised for 20 years. For the money paid I would expect much higher quality food served in quality surroundings. The saving grace was that I found the people pleasant. Over all the place was a dive and I would never go back there again.

Good place to have wings or something from the BBQ. Great during summers. Also shows most football and sport events, and has good selection of beer and stuff.

We came here for a 30th birthday party, and couldn’t fault anything. The food was incredible and there is nothing like this in the area. The staff were lovely and incredibly attentive. Clean and tidy inside and out. We sat in the beer garden afterwards and had drinks with music playing whilst looking out over the beautiful views.

I spent the past 5 years in Texas and never have I ever been so blessed with a steakhouse as wonderful as this. Not even just the food but afterwards I spent the last 3 hours drinking there because of the awesome vibe and huge range of drinks. Made use of the government scheme and had a meal out with family, on one of the hottest days of the year. When we arrived we were given a table by the unlit fire. We had ordered drinks which were on our table when the staff decided they would clean the fire out and re-light it. However whilst cleaning the fire we were showered with ash including our drinks and had we not already ordered food we would have walked out as did the ladies sitting at the table alongside us. Things did not improve as the staff had left the hot ashes by our table which began to smoke as they had put the ashes on top of some cardboard.We began to feel we had arrived in some form of Fawlty Towers.We must however say when the food did arrive it was good and plenty of it.

We visited the Garden House for an evening meal whilst staying in Banham after reading the reviews on Trip Advisor. There was plenty of choice, although they’d run out of beef burgers after a busy bank holiday weekend. The portions were huge so I couldn’t finish my meal or have a pudding! It was very tasty and very good value for money.

We visited The Garden House after a long day out at the nearby zoo with a very tired four year old boy and 6 month old baby in tow. We were welcomed in as soon as we arrived and made to feel completely at home. Our little boy was doted on by the owners and seemingly some of the locals too! The food was great; plenty of it as well. And the whole visit was lovely. Would definitely recommend to families and hope to visit again if we're ever in the area :)

We popped in early evening with our pup for some food. We had been staying in a rental cottage a short drive away. We hadn't booked but the barman checked and we were seated with our drinks. Didn't have to wait too long for our scrumptious food to arrive.Enormous portions. Very tasty. Didn't ask if they served deserts as we were more than full. Shame, perhaps we will do a return visit.All of the staff were welcoming and friendly.

OUTSTANDING. Myself and 8 friends descended upon this quaint and idyllic pub/restaurant on a Saturday evening after speaking with the landlord Nick two days prior, we were greeted warmly and made to feel at home strait away, throughout the beautiful sunny evening Nick had brought out drinks to us (he didn't need to, he just asked us to grab a bench or two in the garden and get settled) he also brought us fresh scratchings from a hog roast earlier that day (delicious) couldn't have asked any more from the owner of this wonderful establishment.

Nice food and good value ...... But unfortunately fly ridden and a bit dirty , toilets were a disgrace the cubicle door doesn't shut ,no toilet paper and watered down soap !!!! Shame as the food seems good

My family and i had been on a trip to the zoo,and decided to stop off at the "garden house"for tea. Lovely fruity cider on tap.and the pims and lemonade decorated beautifully with fruit and leaves.Our starters were more than adequate for sharing, Then my husband and son in law both ordered mixed grills for mains as they have hearty appetites,and omg it was a dream come true for them.ever seen "man v food"-gammon steak, pork,chicken pieces ribs,lamb bacon sausages chips beans tomtoes large mushrooms onion rings plus more all meats cooked to perfection. Our burger meals too were massive with corn on the cob chips onion rings beans and coleslaw and salad refreshingly with lettuce peppers onion and cellery,instead of just leaves.we couldnt eat everything,what we kept was wrapped so we could take home. All the staff were really friendly and the landlord was just lovely. It was nice and relaxed,with tables outside, even a settee and a telly for the footy. All in a country setting.will return again to try sunday roast... lol no starter necessary.

Dropped by here whilst on the way home for a snack, and we had a shared plate of nachos which was huge and incredibly tasty! The setting of the pub is really nice and sitting outside gives you wonderful views across the countryside.

I rang the previous weekend to book a table for 4 for a birthday lunch as we have busted a number of times previously and had a great meal and service. This time on arrival we were told we would be seated shortly which was fine as we were waiting for others to arrive. We were shown to a dirty table where there was a pile of place mats cutlery and napkins dumped in the middle. table wasn’t wiped after glasses were collected and we laid it ourselves. We had requested a high chair which was brought out and in its self a health hazard it was disgusting I cleaned it myself with wet wipes! Then when we asked about ordering we were told chef wasn’t there (bank holiday weekend!) and was a roast dinner or a bbq burger or hot dog available as by now it was 2pm we felt our chances or being served else where would be slim so we stayed and ate. The bbq burger was dumped in a paper plate and was so dry it had probably been kept warm for hours! The roast was passable but not worth writing home about. All in all a totally disappointing lunch and to add insult I was charged £45 for 3 burgers 1 roast 3 pints and 2 cokes. I have recommended this place in many occasion to others sadly I doubt I will be back

I have a mixed grill anywhere I go if I eat out, I have been to frankys and bennys, whetherspoons and many different pubs in London and Norfolk.

We visited this afternoon for the Sunday roast. The food was amazing, we both had the lamb which was great and the roast came with all the trimmings. Huge portion and very tasty. The cheesecake desert was beautiful, I guess it was home made as it was far better than any we’d had out before.

That's the best Sunday dinner I can remember ever having. A choice of five meats and the staff are great. 10/10

This pub is FANTASTIC! Nice outside seating areas in the summer, nice and cozy in the winter. Lovely food with a nice extensive menu and also a great selection of drinks and spirits from around the world! My 'go to' place for sports events as well as catching up with friends. A nice place to take the family too, the land lord Nick is a lovely chap who always gets his 'bucket of sweets' out when families with kids come through the doors. Check. It. Out.

We are staying at Haugh Farm for my brothers 30th bday, all family and friends but needed somewhere to watch the rugby, after finding The Garden House online we ventured over for what we knew was going to be a boozy day! The pub itself is fantastic, proper countryside pub, very good Guiness, a corner for pool and darts, a corner for skysports on TV and corner for very generous portioned food! We were a mixed group of 25ish, girls and boys from 25 to 60 years old, the drink was flowing and we didnt have to wait for food, considering we turned up unannounced this was excellent to cater for such a large group. The landlord, Nick (don't make the mistake of reading the menu and thinking Tom!) makes you feel at home immediately, an incredible host, gave my brother (and me) special treatment for his bday in the form of Sambuca while joining in as well! We live in Hertford, but I would make the 2 hour drive north purely to spend an another afternoon and evening there, highly recommend!

This is a must to visit. Very good home cooked food, good beer also has all day tea, coffee and cakes. Excellent friendly service, and there is always something different going on beer festival, hog roast etc. Also excellent outside seating area with a view to die for.

Llegamos y nos dijeron que no estaban haciendo comida ese día. Sin embargo, regresamos y después el camarero/camarera registramos decidieron que servían comida ese día. Lo segundo a recordar es asegurarse de que estás hambriento las porciones son astronómicos y a un precio razonable. La comida era buena y a un precio razonable. no hay desiertos, ya que realmente no son necesarias.

Llegamos a la casa jardín para cenar y fue un poco de una experiencia extraña. Pedí el pastel de pescado, que iba a venir con verduras mediterráneas y langostinos. Teníamos dos pasteles de pescado ni los langostinos, y nuestras verduras habían cambiado con ensalada. Cuando pregunté me dijeron que se había acabado, yo no habría pedido si hubiera sabido de antemano! Parecía que se habían quedado sin un montón de comida, que también era un problema para otras tablas. El servicio era muy lento (esperamos alrededor de una hora para la comida, a pesar de ser bastante tranquilo). Lo tenían, cuando pedimos la cuenta, nos dieron una factura real no, pero dijeron que el precio y pidieron para pagar en el bar, así que no tenía forma de verificar si fue correcta. La comida estaba bien (si no lo que esperábamos) y tenía un ambiente agradable, pero el servicio era deficiente.

Nos hemos alojado cerca durante años y no puedo creer que no hemos encontrado esta joya antes de ahora! Gran servicio, comida, nada era demasiado problema. El personal es absolutamente increíble, tan amable con nosotros y nuestros hijos! Seguro que volveremos, así que si pueden romper primero! Comida increíble!

Vine aquí después de visitar Banham Zoo. El personal era muy amable. Las porciones eran grandes y caseras. Realmente lo disfruté. Además añadido de una gran selección de ginebras.

Bienvenida muy amable, 6 de nosotros tuvimos una comida fabulosa, el sábado de estar afuera en el sol. La comida era deliciosa y las porciones son muy generosas. Sólo una pena que no había una gran selección de ensaladas, pero no me puedo quejar, ya que había mucho para elegir. Un gran pub local para ir andando, así que volveré!

Visitamos el zoo banham aquí después. La comida era buena. . . Teníamos patatas fritas y nachos, pero todo el lugar huele a humo de cigarrillo. Ya que tenían niños pequeños con nosotros y no fumar, fue una mala elección. Si hubiera estado más caliente que hubiera comido fuera.

El pub es un ejemplar de cómo funciona un pub rural país. La comida es barata, deliciosa y abundante. Muy buena selección de locales y no tan locales de cervezas y sidras todo servido a la temperatura correcta.

Un tosco pub que sirve cervezas y buena comida que se sirve en forma creativa porciones enormes.

I can't recommend this pub more highly. The landlord is a great host, there is a great range of beers, the food is delicious and good value and there is a brilliant atmosphere.We just wish it was more local so we could go on a more regular basis
