Wow - what a lovely little find. Lovely atmosphere, friendly and helpful staff. Superb food …. Well done chef!! Our waitress was fantastic and we will definitely be back (sooner rather than later). Cant believe we hadn’t heard of this place before. The whole evening was faultless. A hidden gem! 💎 Ps - forgot to say last night … love the loos!!

We chose this hotel for our short break in Norfolk firstly because it had a Tesla destination charger and secondly because, when we phoned in advance to check that they could cope with a vegetarian for 3 nights, we had an excellent conversation with, as it turned out, Julie the proprietor. We were worried there would only be one or two ot the usual veggie offerings on the menu like mushroom risotto and vegetable lasagne etc. Staying for 3 nights and intending to dine there each night this was important to us. Julie set our minds at rest as her partner Alex was the chef and she said he was happy to create special dishes. There was also a pool at the property and we booked a daily session in there in advance too. On arrival we were shown to our room which was very comfortable, it had a settee and table and chairs as well as an outdoor area with a further table and chairs. We were also only 15m from the swimming pool entrance. On going to the dining room for our first evening meal Alex introduced himself and described a selection of veggie dishes he was offering for that evening. This process was the same for the rest of our stay with no repetition of dishes. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, all the staff we encountered were lovely giving excellent service, the food was delicious and obviously freshly prepared every time. It was also extremely convenient to top up our electric car after our daily explorations of Norfolk. Very highly recommended with special thanks to Julie & Alex.

I was staying at this hotel by myself as I was away for a work trip and I really couldn’t fault it. The staff were all so lovely and the food is great. Every morning and evening my table was already set out and laid ready for me to come down from my room. The beds are comfy and the rooms are clean, and the “extra touches” have really been thought about. Everyone is incredibly friendly and attentive and I Will definitely be back in the future !

We stayed in Greenbacks2 Damerham, the accommodation was excellent, very clean and has everything you could need for a self catering vacation. Carol our host was friendly and helpful. You are encouraged to help yourself to produce from the garden and fresh eggs from their chickens. Damerham is a good central location for some good bird / nature watching areas, including Martin Down, The New Forest, Blashford lakes, with the south coast within a 40 minute drive.

This was our first time at Greenbanks. We had wonderful service. The food was excellent, beautifully presented. My husband commented on his Blue Steak being hot! which is testament to the Good Chef. They even Gave us an Anniversary card, a lovely touch. We Will be going back and Highly Recommend this place.

Last minute booking for BH Weekend. Great rooms and facilities. The food here is scrumptious. If you have any specific dietary needs the chef will happily prepare something different with prior notice. The owners and staff really make you feel welcome together with your dog if you have one. I have stayed here several times now and have never been disappointed. I will be sure to return!! Thank you to the whole team.

Lamb was amazing. Waitress was so welcoming and happy. The chef here is incredible. What an amazing find.

Food well prepared and enjoyable to eat. Will eat there again when I am next in that part of Norfolk.

Food and service was excellent. cannot fault at all. Would only suggest a slightly larger menu to choose from.

Stayed here this weekend for two nights, and what a great find it is.Our room number 12 overlooked a small lake and although this hotel is on a road, noise was at a minimum. Huge bedroom & bathroom, cosy & warm, well appointed. Dined in the restaurant both nights, and the food is superb, the cucumber and crayfish starter was simply delicious. All the food is highly recommended. The staff went out of their way to accommodate us, including an early breakfast as we had to leave early. Thanks again Alex. Would not hesitate to use this hotel again if we return to the area

you'd expect fairly predictable food at a family hotel.. but not here.. we live locally and use the pool, but go for meals at the restaurant for special occasions... last time was our anniversary, so when booking, I just told Alex to surprise us, and told him to avoid Pork and blue cheese.. otherwise he could create whatever he wanted.. great 5 course meal for 2 was just £65 excl booze.. you could easily pay that for some chewy pap at pub chain with poor service and no atmosphere... Always book.. not because it gets full, but because Alex prefers to cook well for a few, rather than churn it out on a conveyor belt to many..staff are mega friendly and polite

A beautiful hotel, with superb facilities. Excellent food and lovely helpful staff. Spotlessly clean and every facility needed for a short break. A wonderful experience.

We chose this as a wheelchair friendly place for our friend, but will come back because of the fantastic accommodation overlooking the lake, the amazing food in the restaurant and the fantastic service from the owners and staff. This is a hidden gem. First class compared to many of our international hotel stays.

Breakfast is delicious with varied choices from a full English breakfast to poached eggs on toast. There are various cereals, juices, fruit and/or yoghurt to start and the tea comes in a proper china pot!

Greenbanks was the perfect location for a family celebration with people of all ages converging from different parts of the country. We had a wonderful evening meal and Alex surprised us at the end with a cake for my mum's birthday, which she really enjoyed. Those of us staying at the hotel were very pleased with the stylish and comfortable accommodation, and the delicious breakfast too! I would highly recommend this hotel and restaurant and its kind and helpful staff.

Restaurant provided nice range of menu, with some standard and some slightly novel versions of classics. Presentation excellent. The young waitress was impeccable in timing politeness, helpfulness. I didn't have the wine so couldn't comment, but good set oF about 6 bottled beers. Highly recommend.

Hemos venido aquí durante unos cuantos años y siempre es confiable bueno. Frente de la casa muy aceptable, comida excelente y muy bien presentado. Debido a esto se podría tienden a tomar el establecimiento por sentado - bien bien, ¡eso es lo que ocurre cuando se está constantemente una agradable experiencia, incluso después de un buen número de años visitando.

Este fue el quinto año que nos hemos alojado en nuestro Thursford Greenbanks para Navidad. La cena tuvimos el sábado por la noche era como siempre muy buena y sabrosa. Mucha variedad y siempre casera. Jenny y su personal son siempre muy amable y ameniable. El nuevo menú de tapas era muy divertido y muy abundante. Estamos ansiosos por nuestra estancia 2015 Dic

Reservé para nuestra fiesta navideña para 8. Toda la experiencia fue excelente de principio a fin. El personal muy amable, servicial y bien "encantador".

Liked the buildings/ rooms, the grounds, the staff , the gardens, the warm welcome, cannot wait to return .

We had passed the restaurant on many occasions but never dined there before and it was not a disappointment. Hidden just off the busy A47 it has a Hotel, Self Catering rooms and a swimming pool on the pretty site. The dinning room was small but pleasant and we had drinks in the cosy garden room that was like a small sitting room. The menu was varied and good and we all enjoyed the beatifully presented and interesting choices. My only critism is that it was a little on the expensive side but the service was excellent and I would certainly go back.

Had another FAB meal in the restaurant with my grandparents who were staying in the hotel. Eaten at Greenbanks many many times now and the food just seems to get better and better. The ox cheek is definitely my favourite!! Great friendly service and divine food.. We will be back :-D

Really friendly atmosphere and a relaxed but attentive service. The food is very good, maybe let down a little on the presentation front...balance of taste, flavour combinations and technical standard of the cooking is very high. The dining room has a nice clean, homely feel to it with colourful furnishings. The menu had a very good selection of dishes on it, there really was something suitable for everyone. If only more restaurants would take this approach, it would make eating out a much more pleasing experience for me (meat eater) and my partner (vegetarian/vegan). We will be visiting again - this restaurant is a welcome breathe of fresh air in an area that is otherwise full of quite dull, uninspiring eateries.

Trying hard to be a higher level restraunt at £28 for 3 course, but just not cutting the mustard. Felt more like a breakfast cafe than a restaurant with bright lighting and little atmosphere. Things you would/wouldn't expect at this level.. Plastic butter packs on the table, no ground salt/pepper mill, rediculasly fast between each course, asking several times for pudding order, English mustard terrible powder mix, water glasses from asda, veg boiled to destruction. Steak was nice (although no choice of potato, to our surprise served with chips without mentioning in the menu apart from 'served with vegetables. Steak and chips was not what we were looking for).
