As friends of the cathedral and a regular users of the cafe , we are very disappointed at the regular breakdowns and the long delays to get them sorted. First it was the dishwasher Then it was the electricity supply Then it was the hot water tap (on-going at the time of writing) In most cases it took weeks to get them sorted. Why not invest in getting an electrician within 24 hours to sort them? Alternatively replace the machines with more reliable models - keeping unreliable machines is a false economy.

My relative stayed in Room 37 for 2 nights on 23/8/2024. The room is not properly prepared. There was no shower gel, no shampoo. The shower cubicle's drain was totally blocked. It's impossible to have a shower. They have to go the nearby relative's room to have a shower! They told me till they checked out! Please make sure the room is well prepared and ready for the guest for future. Thank you.

A quaint olde inn full of character. We stayed here for one night whilst visiting our daughter nearby. The double room was clean with a comfortable bed. The shower was very good. Breakfast was well cooked and substantial. All staff were friendly and welcoming. Would definitely stay again.

First and LAST time eating here. Nearly had an accident in the car park as lunatic woman just missed us in her haste to take our parking spot before we had manoeuvred into it. Ordered the steak &kidney pudding but the meat chunks were hard chewy and inedible. Asked for the pie to be changed and was told a few minutes. By the time the replacement arrived everyone else in my party had long finished even after staggering their meals. Noticed lunatic woman was a regular chatting to staff in her filthy clothes and pushing past customers eating at tables. No discount or apology from staff. Toilets unclean. Reviews don’t look great here. Wish I’d read them beforehand. Not the best very expensive experience and will not be repeating thank you.

Just home from a lovely comfortable two night stay at the George Hotel. Received a warm welcome from the reception and were told we had the honeymoon suite. It was a lovely spacious room with a lovely bathroom with bath and separate shower and nice fluffy white towels. We had a view at the front of the hotel but there was very little road noise due to double glazing. The breakfast was nicely cooked and of good quality and the bacon was particularly delicious. There was also a good selection of cereals, yogurts, fruits, toast and preserves and croissants. On the second morning I chose the smoked haddock with a poached egg which was also nicely cooked. We both thoroughly enjoyed our little break and are looking forward to staying here again in the near future.

Food was poor. Ordered pork loin, with parmesan potatoes and seasonal vegetables Pork was so tough and dry, not sure how long it had sat before it was served, I'm guessing by the look of it at least a couple of days. Seasonal vegetables were a tiny portion of cabbage and 2 shavings of carrot, hardly any gravy. I did complain, will not be back again.

Firstly our waitress was really friendly and took time to explain what gluten free options were on the menu for my friend. Despite being busy the service was good. The food was ok, but nothing special. There is a good choice of food on the menu. It is definitely worth going here before a show at the Cliffs Pavilion but do book as it’s very popular.

Three night stay at this hotel. We had a large room on the front but were not bothered by the traffic noise. The room was very comfortable and clean. The decor was outdated but they are apparently in a refurbishment programme. Breakfast was super, plenty on offer and hot food excellent. The young girls that run the front of house were very friendly and helpful, nothing too much trouble. Good value for money.
