The River Garden Bar & Restaurant in Broadland

Thought we would give The River Garden one more chance and unfortunately we were disappointed as we were on previous visits. A group of possibly regulars standing at the bar were extremely loud and using offensive language. Out of three meals two were passable but the fish and chips were inedible particularly the fish. It was vastly over cooked, dry and crispy. It would have been returned but the kitchen was then closing so there was no point. It’s a shame this pub doesn’t up its game where the food is involved as the outside area is well kept and makes a great setting for a Summer drink and food. Unfortunately no more chances!!

Booked a table for 14 as a birthday celebration (would of thought we’d be inside) Put outside on 2 benches. Moved a third to make enough room for everyone Pre-ordered food as was told to avoid disappointment. Waiters DIDN'T HAVE A CLUE what they were serving,… “I don’t know” tried serving a ‘chicken burger’ as a beef burger, didn’t ask if there was anything else etc **THE CHICKEN BURGERS WERE NOT CHICKEN!!!!!!!!** When ordering a chicken burger you expect a chicken breast or a battered piece of chicken. It was pork. Just like they serve at McDonald’s as a breakfast pattie!! The ‘homemade beef burger’ was not homemade. Kids pasta was just a plate of tagliatelle, no garlic bread, salad etc for £8. Children came home hungry! Not one check back during the meal. Food not eaten and when the plates were collected the waiters didn’t ask if everything was ok. Not one member of staff asked if everything was ok Shocking service!

beautiful spot by the river. However, the Coke was flat. The food was very basic. They did have a try at presentation but it looked plonked on the plate. The pie was obviously just bought in and heated in the microwave. Crab salad had the most uninspired salad ever - a quartered tomato, slices of cucumber, mixed leaves and tons of red onion. The waitress just walked over when we had finished and took our plates away, she didn't even speak! Not a place I shall be returning to.

After receiving zero service from a place nearby, six of us came here to eat. Food was fantastic and service was spot on. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals and it was the best burger I’ve had in some time. We visit the broads regularly and will definitely recommend and we will be back!

We ordered 2 chicken Supremes, which came to £24. I enjoyed mine, although my wife said the sauce was slightly acidic. The beer garden was lovely, as were the view over the river.

Went to our works Christmas party at the River Garden. We all had a great night! The food was lovely and staff really friendly. Definitely recommend!

Food was awful, we booked for our family of 10 adults. I sent my two pork in lemon and herb back as it was cold, as we're the new potatoes. The waitress apologized and said the chef would completely replace fresh my meal and gave me extra. In fact, my previous pork steak which Id cut into was underneath and the new potatoes were almost un consumable. All 10 meals were poor and the first pint was flat. I can only say given it was not busy we were entertained by a practice band on the adjacent table, which resulted in us leaving early due to the loudness. Definitely wouldn't return!!!!

Had a brilliant meal and hen night. Food was excellent hot and tasty and delivered altogether .prices good value

Attractive pub with a fantastic beer garden overlooking the river. Bitter well kept and a very good choice of ciders. Food was great (brie wedges, squid: chicken caesar salad, sea bass), with pleasant servers. Excellent evening and will definitely return.

Needed to sit with coats on as it was so cold, warmer if we had stood outside. Meals were warm, and not much on the plate. Also had trouble with the prices when paying the bill... couldn't believe the price of a glass of prosecco around £10. Also no good for anyone with walking disability, all steps... Wifi also doesn't work , even the bar staff said they had to go across the road to get a signal..

We were able to sit outside as it was still warm and the view over the river was pretty. I had called ahead to check whether it was a pet-friendly pub garden - luckily for us it was as our son had brought his dog. The food was adequate and the portions were fairly generous, but I don't think any of the dishes were homemade. I suspect most of the items are bought in frozen. There was no table service for drinks, you have to go and order them at the bar and carry them over to your table. Yet the staff took our food order and brought the dishes over to our table - so why not the drinks?? It's not that we're lazy or incapable, but it's just seems a lack of customer service. Instead of ordering another round of drinks after our meal, we called it a day and left. Won't be rushing back there any time soon I'm afraid.

Bolshy landlord very rude & abusive in racist way to my work collegue - though helpful & understanding bar & restaurant staff.

My daughter wanted a casual reception for her wedding on Monday 15/08/22 and chose the River Garden.I can not praise the staff enough the service was excellent but unobtrusive food was lovely and the setting was beautiful.Everything was set up beautifully and everyone was very laid back and friendly.Definitely my go to pub whenever I visit my daughter and son in law in future.

We came here on the 14/08/2022 to meet up with my parents. Couldn’t get parked at the pub but we found a space over the road. I had been here before though it was many years ago, it never use to be so clean and modern! Staff are lovely I think it was the owner who served us he was a very friendly guy. We sat outside , had a few bar snacks which we enjoyed. Great selection of beers and ciders and drinks are not pricey! I’m looking forward to go back and trying their roast dinner as they looked amazing!

First visit nice location and good staff, but Steak in ale pie had no steak and was more like mince (they are bought in apparently) Hunters chicken was dry. Mixed starters were very nice. Probably will not eat there again.

When they first came they were still unpacking the crockery, so to speak, so I promised to re-visit. The tasteful re-vamp is excellent, and the whole place is beautiful from top to bottom. The very reasonably priced menu is delightful.My whitebait were nicely cooked and presented. My son, a trained chef, said his caesar salad was very good.The Jack Rabbit Sauvignon Blanc was very acceptable, but I thought the Shiraz was particularly good.There is also a good selection of beers.The staff and management are charming, just what you need in a local pub and Thorpe needed one badly.

I popped in for a drink with my other half and was absolutely shocked, the pub was literally full of teenagers who definitely did not look 18. Do this pub ID? they certainly weren’t acting like they were of age..?? So noisy and ruined it for me

This is one of the few riverside pub restaurants in Norwich. It is in a great situation, good honest food, and drink. Lovely to spend time by the river. Staff are very helpful & nice, well worth the short trip from the city centre.

Me and my partner love this pub it has a beautiful location great service and a love landlady who makes you feel very welcome . All the staff at great at catering to your needs and the service is quick . It’s great for a lovely sunny afternoon drinks by the river . We can’t fault the service since the new ownership and would highly recommend this place to anyone , it’s our favourite place to go for some relaxing friendly drinks.

Our friends capsized their canoe. They were welcoming helpful and on top of their great service and customer relations they gave us dry hoodies while ours dry’d amazing service after another pub close by refused help! Coming straight back to see the land lady once...

Great atmosphere and staff. Visited here with a group of colleagues as in Norwich for a work thing. Lovely setting beside the river , although cold , great British weather we were handed blankets to stave off the cold , quick service with amazing food , I had the garlic Prawns for Starters and a huge and Tasty Hunters Chicken for a main. Prawn Dish to die for along with hunter's Chicken. The staff were a credit to place , friendly and Polite without being overbearing with a Beautiful setting what more could you ask for. Lovely place , Thank you

We reserved a table for my partner's birthday and on arriving we were told we could sit wherever we could find a table (so no table had really been reserved for us). That was ok though....we were seated and then we waited for someone to take our drinks order. Annnd we waited - eventually we got the bar person's attention and she took our order. Some friends of ours arrived and we eventually managed to add to that order and we waited some more...We moved to a table in the gazebo where there were heaters but a group of people in there said they had asked about heaters and they still hadn't been turned on. We notified staff that we were moving tables and still we waited for our drinks! 40 minutes we waited and then we left. Totally put me off ever going there again. A shame as a lovely location and thought the new owners would really put some care into the reopening of the pub but it felt like a complete shambles.

A friend of mine used to work at this restaurant. He was verbally racially abused by the head chef and the manager did nothing when asked to step in and saw no issue. To be completely honest, I hope this place looses business, not only due to their horrific internal issues but also their sub-standard service and food. From my limited experience, the food tasted very stale. According to my friend absolutely nothing was fresh, everything was bought in and you can really tell.

My husband and I went to the River Garden last Sunday for a roast and it was delicious, really flavoursome! Customer service was really good, we had our baby with us and the staff were very helpful when we were trying to juggle feeding our baby and eat our roast. Very nice meal thankyou.

Went in and were the only people in there. The waitress was friendly and knowledgeable. Would be a perfect place to sit in the summer. Limited menu but the food was nice. Lots of good competition nearby however

Lovely decor, beautiful gardens! The restaurant was quiet which we enjoyed and the food did not disappoint. Quite pricey but good quality food and drink!

I went to this pub with friends on the weekend and had a lovely time. The staff were very fridenly and accomodating, as we turned up 30mins late to our reservation but they still managed to find us a space on a busy Sunday!Friendly atmosphere and there were a lot of very well behaved dogs there at the time, which made our time there even greater.Would 10/10 recommend going here for a Sunday lunch.(also they did mention they have had a recent change of chef, so if you did go here and have a bad experience, don't write this place off for good because the current Chef made us a lovely roast dinner!)

The place accommodated is, a family of 15 at short notice and did everything to make us feel welcome and warm. Great friendly service and great food. Will come back again.

Nos saludaron tan pronto como entramos, con las bebidas en las manos antes de sentarnos y la camarera sabía qué pasteles estaban disponibles y fue muy atento. Definitivamente puedo recomendar el pastel de carne y cerveza en una miserable noche fría!Lo recomendaría sobre una de las muchas cadenas que sirven comida genérica. Me hizo darme cuenta de que necesitamos ir a más establecimientos de propiedad local.

My husband and I have been coming here for a few years, sometimes with friends, family or just us. Tonight our main courses were nice enough. However, I ordered chocolate bomb for my dessert. When the waitress brought it she said it didn’t look ‘bomb like’. I hadn’t studied the menu properly when I had seen it at the bar, if I had I would have seen that it should have come with hot chocolate ganache which it didn’t! In fact I think I had the wrong dessert all together. Unfortunately my husband had paid the bill when I went and queried this and the waitress did offer us a free coffee. She was very pleasant throughout.

We booked a large table for a birthday lunch. The booking was made the day before but it was taken and the group was not asked to preorder. The experience there was genuinely the worst any of us had ever experienced, but it was all made worse by the customer service and horrible attitude of the owner (the same one mentioned in reviews below- wish we'd read them)

I would have liked to give this pub a higher rating but we visited with my grandchildren of two and three but we waited over thirty five minutes for sweets, being mostly ice cream. The two children had a meltdown as we had been there for two and a half hours and we on the point of leaving but the sweets arrived.

I had a very lovely lady called Amy look after me and my family the other day - she was so attentive and made us all feel so welcome. Any question we had she was more than happy to help us and with all the drinks she knew what would go well with the food. I would highly recommend the food and drinks here and will be calling this my new local - thank you Amy and the team

I've been here numerous times over the years, and it has been fantastic at times and horrible at other times. Yesterday was pretty good, service was friendly and with a couple of drinks ordered and forgotton, quite efficient, but we did book for a large group of 12, and had only 7 show up and they were very accommodating even though the whole party hadn't showed. Menu was a bit limited, but ok, I ordered the wild mushroom risotto and the mushrooms were delicious, cooked to perfection, and set to the side of the rice, the rice was stodgy for my tastes as I prefer a runny risotto. The Ceasar salad we had on the side, ordered from the starter menu, was fantastic with tender lettuce, perfect amount of dressing. Others were pleased with their choices as well.

Thought the manager was a complete bumole. Food was terrible and cold. Was planning on taking my nan there next week but I think I would rather just let her starve

I COME HERE TODAY AND WAS ATTACKED BY ANTS! Avoid at all costs. I complained to a member of staff who come over and kicked all the ants which then went into my meal!!! Not happy will not return!!!!!!

Very disappointed with bbq extremely over priced some of the food was under cooked food left on the table in the sun . At 13.95 per head and only getting a burger/ sausage/wing of chicken I think I would have rather gone to McDonald’s

Roast: mostly fatty meat, roast potatoes like stones, an aunt bess's yorkie, parsnips like wooden planing curls. Outside eating atmosphere interesting, mostly starving, bored and disappointed people. Staff familiarly unfazed nor forthcoming in offering appropriate deduction/gesture off bill; lack of customer service skills, chaotic and burnt out.

Brought the family in for a well deserved catch up over food and drinks as have previously visited and really enjoyed it here. But can say I won't be returning again. The staff were so rude and chatted among themselves rather than serve the customers waiting. We weren't the only ones. After a 45 minute wait for food it turned up over cooked and totally flavourless. Our waitress said if you don't like it then don't eat it. She didn't seem at all bothered that we complained and showed no signs of being sorry. She simply didn't care. My husband thought she was away with the fairies as her eyes couldn't focus and belonged in a mental hospital but I guess she had her reasons for the way she behaved, and right I was. Myself and my daughter overheard her on the phone whilst in the toilets begging for someone to come to the rivergarden on their way home. It sounded quite distressing for the girl but still she should of known better than to make calls like that in a public place. Your pub has hit an all time low and you should recruit new staff if you think you have any chance of keeping open in the near future. Or at least have management supervising the inexperienced, moody, low life's that are currently working there. I could go on but what's the point. I was so disappointed as only ever had the best food and service here. I guess times have changed.

We booked to eat at 7 on a Friday evening. There were several covers outside, as it was a very pleasant evening by the river. The young man at the bar told us to take a seat and the manager would take our order. The dishes we ordered were nicely cooked but the portions were very modest (and I’m not a big eater). Consequently we finished fairly quickly and wanted dessert as we were still peckish. It was apparent that the manager (if that is who he was) was the only person waiting and clearing and taking orders and he was literally running from table to table all evening. People were waiting to give orders, waiting between courses and waiting to settle. It was excruciating to watch. Whilst the manager remained pleasant and good humoured, there were families who were very tired of waiting and were becoming vocal with the only bar tender, who seemed very inexperienced and could not mix some of the drinks people were asking for. He also struggled with the til and appeared to be under the supervision of the already seriously overworked waiter/manager. There was no one to clean the glasses, so they were piling up along one third of the bar top, and someone was served wine in a half pint glass. Our experience on the evening we attended doesn’t seem to be a one -off, as lots of people mention the inordinately long waits and the understaffing issue. I really hoping the staffing situation is resolved in the near future, as the location is lovely, the building is charming (I often take guests here when they visit Norwich) and the meals are tasty, but the waiting made the whole experience very tiring and uncomfortable. For that reason, I would not in all conscience be able to recommend it for an dining experience unless you have lots and lots of time on your hands and haven’t got children who will get tired or get the fidgets. People do take families here, because of the garden and the ducks and swans on the river.

We were welcomed by friendly, helpful staff who made us feel relaxed and welcomed. We chose to eat outside as it was a beautiful day. The garden is beautiful, lots of greenery and flowers and right by the river. We ordered the meat Mese which was just the right size for the two of us to share. We had room for pudding and really enjoyed the warm chocolate pudding with ice cream and the rhubarb crumble. A lovely, relaxed, summer lunch time together.

Evening out with friends. Greeted by lovely warm friendly staff. All 3 of us had chicken burgers which were nice. Good portion sizes. Beer garden is lovely and right on the river - can imagine its a lovely place for lunch on a hot day.

Back here after an interval of a year. Served an empty pie. Pie was replaced with a cremated steak. Next table had a 50 minute wait for a chicken burger. A quick peek in the kitchen recalled it to be in a right old state - food on the floor, bins open. Yuck.

A spontaneous Sunday lunch on a sunny day, we stopped at this pub and were pleasantly surprised that there were plenty of tables outside. The staff were friendly and attentive. The Sunday menu was a bit limited but adequate. My daughter and I book chose burgers, mine beef - hers veggie. The burgers were presented nicely, the chips plentiful though tasted quite a lot of grease, but were edible. This place could do much more to promote its lovely outside area which was a little tired.

We were looked after superbly by Danielle and the staff from the moment we arrived. The setting is lovely and the food was delicious. I cannot praise them highly enough.

Great location for few pints with great outside area on a sunny day. We ordered SIDE dishes to have as a snack... waited over an hour to find out that it was delivered to a table next to us... when we finally got food it was horrible. As a person with experience in hospitality, sometimes it's better to buy frozen food from factory and microwave it, specially if you chef can't cook, than blindly get offensive in response to every review. It was Saturday afternoon and heatwave, with facilities that this pub has it should have been packed but actually half empty, no wonder why...

I took my partner there for a belated birthday meal, as we have enjoyed many good meals there previously. After enjoying a drink by the river first we ordered our food at the bar as no-one came to our table even though we sat inside. The menu was very limited and quite a lot was not available. We waited almost an hour and had to go to the bar to chase it up to be told that they thought they had two chefs, but one had gone home. When the food came, rump steak and bangers and mash, we had to ask for a steak knife, the steak had not been trimmed properly and was very tough. The locally sourced sausages were beige and bland, with no flavour whatsoever. No staff came to the table to ask if everything was ok and we left half the food as it was inedible. When we went to the bar to pay they again didn't ask if everything was ok just told us the amount to pay. We said we were not happy and they did deduct some drinks. I won't be going back again until the reviews are much improved! It's a shame as I used to really like the place.

I confidently expect to be slammed by the owner just like the previous people who have posted negative comments, but here we go. Three of us arrived on Thursday evening and found no more than seven others in the premises. The friendly young waitress told us that we could sit wherever we liked, and i can confirm that they had wiped the tables since the previous review. She added that there were no chicken goujons, no cajun chicken and no steak in the kitchen. We selected from the already small list of options in the menu and waited for our meals. And waited for our meals. And waited . . . You get the idea. To be fair they did arrive eventually and were absolutely average . We thought (perhaps rashly ) that we would cleanse our palettes with some desserts, so requested the menu. The waitress did save us time in the selection process by telling us that they only had vanilla cheesecake. We queried this but she was certain. We asked what had happened or if the chef had died, but she told us simply that they were out of stock. Unlike the waitress in last week's saga below, we don't think she had amassed twenty years of experience. Now let's wait a week for an amusing rebuttal.

Decided to take my team here for a bite to eat at lunchtime as after driving past a few times, thought it looked really pretty from outside and loved the idea of dining near the river. Unfortunately the river was the only positive thing about the place. We walked Into the restaurant which was dark and dreary and smelt musty. The lady who served us was extremely rude and when taking our food order, literally had no idea what the dishes came with. When the food did eventually come out we found a hair in one of meals. We did get a refund and turned out the lady with absolutely no people skills was the owner. Shame as this place could be a goldmine because of its location. Wont be going back in a hurry.

Came for a quick bite to eat on a Thursday evening, we were the only ones in there apart from another couple. Should have read in to this more and left there and then.

Title says it all. If you don't have the staff you have nothing. It's silly to rely in location alone.

We spent a lovely Saturday afternoon here with drinks, great food and excellent service combined with sunshine and a beautiful river view. Will definitely return!

This pub was recommended by the canoe hire we used for the day. We paddled upstream and arrived at 12.30. Already at that time we were told there was a 25 minute wait. We ordered starters and roasts. Our starters only took 15-20 minutes to come and were lovely, however, an hour after we’d finished our starter we were still waiting for our main course. We gave up in the end, paid and left. They took the drinks off the bill but that didn’t help our starving stomachs. We ended up with an M&S; garage lunch!! Unfortunately it spoilt an otherwise great day. Won’t be visiting again!!

tge views outside are lovely , parking is difficult and lots of steps go get into pub .

Habiendo pasado por este pub unas cuantas veces, le pregunté a algunas personas si alguna vez habían estado, así que me alegro de haber hecho buenas raciones de comida y el servicio fue muy rápido, mucho tiempo para disfrutar del ambiente, el personal fue muy amable, yo Creo que fue el gerente quien trajo nuestra comida sobre Karen. Si recuerdo que no suelo dejar comentarios, pero ella estuvo muy bien atenta a nuestras necesidades. Mi hija es intolerante a la lactosa y no fue un problema para Karen o su personal, puedo imaginar el El jardín del río estaría muy ocupado ya que el verano entra, ya que tienen un enorme espacio abierto en la parte de atrás con vistas al río. Hubo 5 adultos que buscaban una comida en un martes frío y húmedo, temprano en la noche. Estaba muy tranquilo. Una agradable camarera y camarera no hubieran podido hacer nada si hubiera estado más ocupada. Tuvimos vírgenes vivas sobre el jardín que se inclinaba hacia el río. Por lo tanto sería encantador en un clima más seco y cálido. Hay sombra y algunos calentadores al aire libre.

Fuimos como un grupo familiar de 8 personas en un viernes ocupado como parte de una celebración número 80. No se pudo encontrar una falla si lo intentamos. Nos atendieron muy bien y la comida era excepcional.

Pub oscuro y lúgubre, mesas sin limpiar y muy pegajosas, decidieron no comer, si no puedes limpiar las mesas correctamente, solo ahora cómo será la cocina.

There is a lady who made me feel uncomfortable from the beginning by shouting at other staff. She appeared to be so angry when I ordered and then spilt the drink bringing it outside. Left me feeling blamed when she said “I spilt it bringing it ALL the way out here”.

Decided to go there for food. Asked for lemonade and got served soda water with a bit of lemon in it. Then looked at the menu and it was completely different to the one advertised on the website. At this point we left. Will not be visiting again

Busy Friday night, with only the manager as sole server of the pub. He brandished fantastic hospitality skills perfect for a cosy couple setting. Kind hearted and polite, making visitors feel like regulars.

I attended a Rotary meeting of the Centenary Rotary Club of Norwich for their monthly meeting. We meet in the bar before ordering and paying for our meal. We then went upstairs to a private room and had the meeting. Once finished the meals were brought upstairs by the friendly staff. A good evening.

Recommended by a friend, and lived up to expectations. Friendly staff, food was exceptionally good, vegetables cooked to perfection. Good prices, reasonable range of beer and wine. Lovely building, looking forward to going back in the summer to explore the garden which backs onto the river. Can highly recommend.

Came for a week day dinner with family friend this eve. Had the vegan tagine made by chef Matt and was super lovely. Best still was the positive and super lovely waitress Kayleigh, such a breath of happy fresh air, so happy and friendly. Can’t wait to return for the staff and food thanks Rivergarden x

Very hospitable staff. Lovely decor, owner has a gift for interior design. The food was very tasty & substantial. We had the sausages, burger & pie (chips were top class) & we all enjoyed our meals. Would definitely recommend & there’s the added bonus in the spring/summer to sit outside overlooking the river, hence the name of the restaurant.

We love this place but tonight, on a Saturday, after the football, we popped in to have a few drinks and maybe more around the fire. Not tonight love, the bar man said. We have the heating on and I'd have to wait for fire to die tonight if I put it on.......erm, no, really? A fire needs to burn out and die, that's why on a cold December night you can't put it on? It's part of the winter atmosphere, that's why people come. Also calling people "love" is rude. Have some respect for the females who come in wanting to enjoy the place!

We booked a table for 6 work mates for a pre Christmas evening meal. The venue was not very full, which was surprising for mid-December. Our Waitresses were extremely attentive, the new Chef produced fine food. The starters were delicious, we particularly enjoyed the prawn cocktail with avocado and the goats cheese tart. One person had Turkey with all the trimmings and said it was the best Xmas dinner out she had tasted! Two of us had roasted pork belly which was crispy and delicious. We did think that one rasher was a bit mean for the price though. We will definately eat here again.

Hadn’t been to the river garden for a while so decided to, had scampi and triple cooked chips, was real good!!! Kayleigh the waitress was the best, very friendly and welcoming!! Will visit again soon!!

Went in on Sunday lunch time to be warmly welcomed. Food served was excellent and in very quick time. Staff attentive but not intrusive. Well recommended.

Great venue for our sailing club AGM. Friendly staff, good buffet and beer made for a very pleasant evening.

My family and I visited the river garden for the first time this week. I'm told famed for its garden but at this time of year I didn't get close! Luckily inside is so cosy with a big roaring fire by the door which quickly warms you through.

Visited this evening and was really pleased with the service and special request for a healthy meal, Kayleigh spoke to the chef and a wonderful breast of chicken salad was delivered to the table, positive friendly attitude and being in hotel trade I don’t miss a trick, well done to all at river garden

My partner and I visited the Riverside on Saturday evening after booking a table at short notice, the young lady that took us to our table was lovely, very friendly and helpful. My partner ordered the steak and I ordered the chicken wrapped in Parma ham stuffed with mozzarella, it looked lovely when it arrived however when I started to eat the chicken I thought it felt cold not one to complain I thought it may be because it was on a cold plate so continued to eat it when I got half way through the chicken breast it was clearly not cooked!!! when my partner took it back to the bar the barman thought it was Salmon!! He was very apologetic and clearly horrified I was offered anything on the menu and assured that if I developed food positioning the cost of my partners meal and the drinks would be fully reimbursed, my face must have dropped because he then said there would be nothing to pay, we were then told the oven was being 'temperamental' and only cooking half the food, clearly no meat thermometer was being used???? He couldn't apologise enough sadly no apology from management or the chef who was allegedly to embarrassed to come out. Thankfully I wasn't ill whoever had I been elderly or a child it could have been a different story so take care if your having chicken.

I went to the Rivergarden for my birthday, my husband booked it as a surprise and we hadn't been before. The staff were really patient as we were talking and took a while to order. There were only four of us and to be fair it wasn't too busy. We ordered the main meal of antipasti tasters (not sure what it was called) as a starter for all of us, it was fab, really lovely and we all tried things we hadn't had before including cornichons and sun dried tomatoes (two of our group were teenagers!), as main meals we had steaks and burgers. Everything tasted really fresh and was very good and the service was great. The two ladies in the group went outside whilst the men had dessert but they said that was good too. Overall I had a really lovely evening, the food and service was brill and the price was very reasonable, can't wait to go again.

Called in today in a hurry in need of a quick tasty lunch with my son en-route to pick up my daughter-in-law at 2.30 in city centre. Lovely welcome by both the lady owner and the very pleasant waiter . Explained our hurry .. shown to our table ...( we could pick which one we preferred ) and drinks brought over at once. . My son ordered Cajun Chicken Burger I had Scampi. BOTH WERE WONDERFUL .. freshly cooked ... the chips were AMAZING ... very hot .. soft in the middle , crunchy on outside ... nicely presented and served with lovely smiles . Best lunch enjoyed in the city for a long time ... oh and the sauce was proper Heinz Tomato ! Thank you .. can’t wait to visit again with more time .

Great delicious food, one of the best in Norwich, always enjoyed eating here, home cooked food, let's of choice and great deserts too
