This is the third time we’ve stayed at this hotel in recent years and it hasn’t really improved much. The staff were very good, considering the poor quality hotel. The public areas and rooms were dated and below par considering the cost. Travelodge and Premier Inns are far superior The hotel is in need of a complete renovation, being somewhat tired, dark and grubby. The bathroom in our room, 51, was small - no problem with this - but the sink was a cheap plastic affair (similar to that found in an old caravan) which was stained and chipped. All four taps in the bathroom require changing, being old with worn washers. Turn them on and nothing happens until the seal releases and water comes out in an uncontrolled gush. Very difficult to gently control the temperature, scalding to cold with a couple of degrees of turn. Not good for children or the elderly when showering. Although we turned the radiator off in the room and opened the window, the room was too hot. This is because the piping supplying hot central heating water still flows uncontrolled through the pipes supplying the radiator. Food was only average. The Best Western hotel in Shaftesbury, The Chase, was of a similar standard, quite awful, and therefore it seems, a common theme throughout this chain.

Lovely surroundings and view for a traditional breakfast. Meal presentation was very good and the meal was very tasty apart from the bland, mass produced sausage. What a shame they don't buy them from the local butcher at Whitegate Farm Hanningfield, as if they had it would have been a 5 star review!

Firstly our waitress was really friendly and took time to explain what gluten free options were on the menu for my friend. Despite being busy the service was good. The food was ok, but nothing special. There is a good choice of food on the menu. It is definitely worth going here before a show at the Cliffs Pavilion but do book as it’s very popular.

This place does an excellent Sunday lunch, good value for money, very well presented and extremely tasty. The cauliflower cheese was very good, best I have had, we went as a family group and were very pleased with the food and the price is very reasonable can certainly recommend. Will definitely be going again as it is so good, well done Chef

This is the best Greggs ever! The one in March is the Greggs to go to. 🙂🙂 the staff are so friendly here! The tables are always spotless! They are always cleaned as soon as someone has finished at their table. We travel up from Peterborough and I'm Autistic and will only eat the kids cheese sandwiches and they are always available in this Greggs. I can only eat the soft food because I have poorly teeth. I also love the Tottenham Cake because it's soft food. Also the icing is delicious! The Peterborough Greggs does not have it. Which is one of the many reasons we travel up to March. Thank you to all the staff at Greggs in March! Wonderful and Polite every time we come in! 🙂🙂 Kind Regards. Ashley 🙂

Don’t have high expectations when eating in Morrisons in St. Albans. But today’s meal was terrible. Pie was burnt inside, so pastry was rock hard. Gravy was like dishwater. Mushy Peas were crunchy!! Mash potato was bland. No wonder so many of the cafes are closing, standards have really slipped.

Stopped here for a quick bite in the evening whilst passing through. Limited menu, I had pie and chips. It was hot and tasty so no complaints. I sat at a small corner table and when I went to put my bag on the floor my elbow got caught up in a whole nest of cobwebs that ran floor to ceiling. Moved to a different table and when I looked at the carpet it was glistening with slug slime! Yes you read that right!! Trails and trails of slug slime all over the carpet. I went to put my bag on the chair next to me. The chairs are covered with faded pink felt like fabric that would have been all the rage in the 70s but it was thick with long hairs all trapped in the fabric. The window sills were covered with dead flies. The bar man - am I allowed to say man in these politically correct times?? The bar person / server was however very friendly, welcoming and polite. Very depressing place, definitely needs a clean and makeover.

From the moment we arrived untill we left, we had a great time. Greeted as we walked in, table for 6, ample room, beautifully laid, right down to cloth napkins! The (impressively priced) menu, limited to 5 choices for each category, had not a burger in site, at last a chef who wants to create rather than just cook! The waitress was adoreable and attentive. We all choose differently and no one was disappointed. The food was hig quslity and perfectly cooked, hot and the portion size was well judged. Unhurried we enjoyed our meals and had regular checking with the lovely waitress and the manager who managed the restaurant perfectly. We would all return and not just because we are seeing a show!
