The best restaurants serving British food in East of England

Had lunch with a friend .Super ambience and food .We had the sea bass with fennel and lamb moussaka ..both delicious.Fish beautifully cooked .Thank you !

We stopped at this pub while doing a circular walk around Stretham. The greeting from the lady behind the bar was perfect. Bring a Sunday it was only a choice of a roast or the basket meals. We sat in the garden at the back and had scampi and chips. The food was excellent and very hot. The service was perfect and attentive.

Food very good. Large scones amazing. Lots of different cakes to choose from. Decent lunch menu. Lovely outside area. Huge indoor seating area. Excellent of accessibility. I parked near the outside restaurant and they let us in there to save me going around. My only comment would be that the quiche was a little bland. I would have liked more flavour. Maybe more cheese. I do love a cheesy quiche. Everyone is very friendly. Very clean and a lovely setting.

The fish was bony and the batter soggy would not recommend. And had to wait for it to be cooked .

Waited 30 mins before acknowledged & given menus. It was then 40 mins before our first drink on a Sunday morning. My latte was curdled (milk) which I sent back. Exchanged without fuss. Breakfast arrived much quicker than the menus did and was ok. Waitress delivering did not seem very happy or enjoying her work - very lacklustre This was our first and last visit. If you are in a hurry you will be disappointed. Easy like a Sunday morning I understand but I do not appreciate being actively ignored.

Me gusta el lugar y el personal siempre ha sido agradable. El problema es cómo se organizan todos los alimentos y los precios. La comida es promedio (nada especial), pero todos los precios están increíblemente inflados. Un pastel de espinacas le costará £ 8 - en la mayoría de los otros lugares es ~ £ 2. Un tazón de ensalada cuesta £ 5. Un sándwich, un trozo de pastel pequeño y una bebida te pondrá fácilmente > £ 20 y esto es por persona! De alguna manera, la gestión ha hecho que todo sea tan complicado, por lo que la preparación de los alimentos (los alimentos ya están cocinados y listos) y servir siempre lleva mucho tiempo. Siempre hay colas. Por favor chicos, no le den un mal nombre a un lugar tan hermoso como el jardín.

Having been Brasted’s devotees, this was our first visit to the restaurant at Caistor Hall and it was excellent. The whole building has been refurbished and now looks modern and welcoming. The room housing the restaurant under previous ownership was cold and underwhelming but is now a fine place to eat The menu essentially is the Brasted’s three course fine dining restaurant with good choices, good portion sizes and exceedingly well cooked. Many aspects set Brasted’s apart but one of them is the professionalism of the waiters and waitresses. Very well trained and very much appreciated. Would that other establishments aiming to operate in the fine dining arena got this important aspect right Nice to have comfortable lounges for a pre dinner drink and very nice to know that Caistor Hall is being well run and fulfilling its potential - we look forward to the result of the new extension works. Strongly recommended - best place to go

Visited numerous times to eat, always good, clean and great value…… Great staff, great food 🥳 This is a two part review…….. the second being hot meals delivered to the elderly………. my Mother has had a daily meal delivered to her flat for a number of years……… providing an essential service as her eyesight and mobility have declined. As a family, we cannot speak more highly of the service that has been provided over the years, which we have unfortunately had to suspend, as she has been moved to hospital and then a nursing home. I will continue to pop in for my lunch when I am nearby and wish all the staff well 🙂

Great drinks, food and service! We popped in for lunch, didn’t book but were very welcome. Had a drink by the bar where our order was taken and then taken to our table. We had the set menu - all delicious!

I cannot believe what a witnessed this morning. Two ladies sat on the next table had their order messed up at the till, so when the food came and items were missing they asked for a slice of toast just to compensate. The member of staff came back clearly embarrassed and told them they had to give back half a potion of the scrambled egg in place of the toast The manager, Simone came out, she has no customer service skills at all. She confirmed the lady had to give her half the scrambled egg, even though it was going into the bin and proceeded to take it from her plate. This is disgusting behaviour to think they would rather throw food away than to own a mistake and just give they lady a slice of toast.. her attitude was that they expect customers to pay for the food they eat.. and she just rolled her eyes. It was unbelievable to witness that kind of behaviour towards customers

Excellent food & drinks & cheerful speedy service. A seat outside for weary travellers to enjoy people watching. Te He

Amazing Sunday lunch, really good portion size and had a great chat with the staff and owner. We will be back for the fireworks next week!

i use to go their tuesday and thursday with my carer we enjoyed are visits we got served by nice girls staff we miss the sandwiches which they use to serve their

We recently had a meal at Judes Ferry. The food was very nice and so were the staff which would normally make this would have been a 4 star review at least. Unfortunately the front door is left open which makes it cold and the whole place needs a refurbishment inside and out. I know everything cost money but a coat of paint would make it so much better

First time in ages. Great traditional breakfast - we'll cooked and presented - in lovely setting: the park gardens on a sunny day. Two breakfasts with drinks: £19. I don't know why this place doesn't come to mind more often. Family run by same family for many years. Must go here more!
