The best restaurants serving British food in East of England

Way back 40 years ago I was a regular Saturday night customer along with my then husband and step-daughter. Jon and his parents ran it and it was excellent. I moved away 19 years ago and came back to try it but the menu was poor and no different to a pub. I have not been back for years. However I returned this week and was not disappointed. My friend had the lamb tagine as she wanted a main meal and I had a jacket potato as I eat a main meal in the evening. Both excellent as was my decaff latte and my friend's G and T. We will return.

Have been here 3 times now and love it every time. Food is great value and size and always good. Drinks are also great, we always get a smoothie. But most of all the family running it are so nice and really friendly.

Really greasy chips, overcooked batter and fish not very fresh in my opinion. This is the second time I have used this shop in 6 months and it was no better the first time. I always give somewhere a second chance, but now regret it. Don’t bother folks, food horrible man behind counter probably the most miserable person in the village.

Waited 30 mins before acknowledged & given menus. It was then 40 mins before our first drink on a Sunday morning. My latte was curdled (milk) which I sent back. Exchanged without fuss. Breakfast arrived much quicker than the menus did and was ok. Waitress delivering did not seem very happy or enjoying her work - very lacklustre This was our first and last visit. If you are in a hurry you will be disappointed. Easy like a Sunday morning I understand but I do not appreciate being actively ignored.

Great drinks, food and service! We popped in for lunch, didn’t book but were very welcome. Had a drink by the bar where our order was taken and then taken to our table. We had the set menu - all delicious!

We use to love this place but it has really gone down hill, got there when it opened and within a few minutes of ordering our breakfast already came, uncooked eggs, tomatoes that’s definitely wasn’t fresh, food was just warmed up, had to leave we couldn’t feed our toddler. What a shame!!

On arrival customers were directed to one of two queues - hot food and hot drinks or cold food and drinks. I wanted a hot snack but found that having queued for 10 minutes and receiving my food they were unable to provide me with a hot drink and I then had to join the other long queue for a coffee. This took another 10 minutes by which time my hot food was well and truly cold. The cutlery was also not particularly clean. The cost for a small hot snack and a coffee was £12.45. The size of the cafe and queueing area is much too small is and on entry I thought that I was waiting for food whereas the queue was actually for the toilets which are for both genders and causes unnecessary delays too. I would recommend that visitors take their own refreshments and eat in the gardens. It is a great many years since I have experience such poor service.

Ordered the steak medium. Came out, not as I ordered. Forgot all the sides…. No check up on the food by the staff. Waste of time. Walked out leaving a Stella behind! Bad!!!

i use to go their tuesday and thursday with my carer we enjoyed are visits we got served by nice girls staff we miss the sandwiches which they use to serve their

A lovely restaurant and helpful staff. The food was delicious - we had risotto and the cod dish. The decor was splendid, looking as if it had recently been updated

We recently had a meal at Judes Ferry. The food was very nice and so were the staff which would normally make this would have been a 4 star review at least. Unfortunately the front door is left open which makes it cold and the whole place needs a refurbishment inside and out. I know everything cost money but a coat of paint would make it so much better

Good generous portions, tasty gravy, good amount and selection of veg to choose from and all served up piping hot . I’ll definitely be returning.

How do you mess up a steak that badly, strange concept, they give you tablets, despite having 4 staff staring at you not saying a word, you do it all yourself and then they charge you for the service... I ordered the steak, rare, it arrived well done and tough as boots, I couldn't manage it, could be the worst steak I've ever had! Was never asked how it was, just got up and left. Really cold strange place

Very friendly, welcoming staff. Tables lovely and clean. We ordered 2 x breakfasts for £20. Single price is £11.99. Great value, freshly cooked to order, including a hot drink each. The restaurant is light,bright and airy. Toilets are clean. Visit the garden centre for inspiration. Lovely choice of plants, trees and roses. Ample free parking.
