Visited here on a Sunday morning. Received such a lovely welcome from the two young ladies serving. We both had a wonderful breakfast. So fresh and well presented and totally delicious. Scrumptious cakes and great coffee. Will definitely be back and would highly recommend.

OMG, I literally don’t know where to start. I was visiting my friend in Abridge and she wanted to take me for lunch as a belated birthday treat for me. So we walked across the road and went in to Boardelis. We sat inside at a table that hadn’t been cleaned and was sticky and had food remnants from previous customer. After around 10 mins a waitress took our order for 2 soft drinks. After a further 25 mins she took an order for 2 salads. We chatted and hadn’t realised how much time had gone by, but after around 50 mins the waitress informed us that our food would be a while longer as they were preparing a large takeaway order. We were flabbergasted that a takeaway order would take priority over customers dining in and said we would just have the drinks and leave. The waitress then came back and said they could have our food ready in 5 mins so we agreed to stay. I could see a member of staff glaring at me from behind the back counter and was saying something. I looked at her and said I couldn’t hear what she was saying, but she still kept talking. I repeated that I couldn’t hear her and she then came over to say that they were busy doing a takeaway order. I reminded her that that also gave customers sitting down and need to be served. After this exchange we paid for our drinks and left. We had spent an hour of our time together waiting for food that seemed it was never going to materialise, but they didn’t seem that bothered. This place clearly needs to be better managed and organise staff accordingly. They also need to give the place a good clean and give their staff some customer service training.

No alternatives offered the girl just walked away. The hot meals came with no Condiments or sauces. Had a great evening on Saturday with friends and little ones. The staff are so welcoming, friendly and efficient. The chef even came and spoke to us as he does know my friends and we asked him for something not on the menu and he was happy to do this for my husband. It felt like being in a holiday bistro, so calm and relaxing with outstanding service. The food was truly excellent, garlic bread with cheese just melted in your mouth and the king prawn linguine had so many prawns and amazing flavour, it was all complimented by the rose wine. Great value for money and we cannot wait to go back.

Having visited the Blue Boar Deli twice in the day and found both times, the food absolutely excellent, the waitress suggested we try the evening. Very basic menu but 4 of us tried different starters and main meals. We all felt as if we were abroad, the garden out the back beautiful and the food, rustic, was superb

The Deli is a lovely place and the food always looks good, unfortunately the staff are literally on a game, they are there to socialise between themselves, customers are lucky if they don’t get left sitting waiting for half and hour waiting for food, as every time we have been there this has happened, the waitress always forgets parts of order, and the last time left hair on my food! Don’t have the salt beef it’s literally a mouthful of salt any complaints are ignored with a blank look, or no response to emails. if they had given any response I would not have written this. Seriously will never go here again !

What an excellent evening. I had previous visited the Blue Boar Deli for brunch and had a lovely time but this time we ventured of an evening to enjoy their Pizzeria. I was so impressed with the communication of the restaurant beforehand. I follow a gluten free diet and wanted to double check that they had gluten free pizza bases available for when we booked it. And they did - RESULT! I’m always so happy to find a place that does gluten free pizzas and always curious to try them. This restaurant in the evening is so lovely. I. The daytime it’s lovely anyway but how they transform it into an authentic pizzeria just adds to the evening. A little quaint pizzeria with the table cloths and candles. Lovely. We had booked a table on one of Rishis nights as we are looking at trying places we haven’t been before on the deal nights. And just to say now we’ll definitely be back when it’s full price, no question. I would definitely recommend booking but they did have a walk in after 9pm. We were shown to our table and given menus. I had already viewed it online being too excited to wait. Our drinks orders were taken followed by the food. We opted for the mozzarella and tomato salad, garlic prawns and garlic bread to share as starters (there were 4 of us). The garlic bread wasn’t gluten free (I probably could have asked) but I was happy with the salad and prawns. All of which were lovely, especially the prawns. There was a little wait in between courses which didn’t bother me. I like a decent amount of time between as it doesn’t feel like you’re being rushed out of the restaurant which we weren’t at all. The mains came and there was a slight mix up with the pizza orders however that was soon rectified with no harm done. It definitely didn’t dampen our evening. We just ordered more drinks. The chicken and pesto pizza was so good. The gluten free base was nice and thin and the same size as everyone else’s (if you know you know). It was piping hot and very tasty. I’ve even got some left for breakfast. Everyone else seemed to enjoy their mains. The chicken Milanese looked lovely. You can chose you’re own pasta and sauce how you like it. And also the spicy sausage pizza smelt amazing. We were then offered dessert but we just had coffees as we were so full then received the bill. Obviously we went on Rishis night so we got a great deal but as I said we’ll definitely be back on another night when it’s full price. It’s definitely worth it. Also it’s the best GF pizza I’ve had. The staff are lovely and very attentive. The place was clean, toilets were lovely and the atmosphere was perfect.

Amazing food at the Boardelis Pizziera! The Blue Boar Deli changes in the evening into a stunning Pizziera, the food is simply stunning, I had penne arabiatta and it was delicious, pasta was nice and firm, not sloppy and the the sauce was rich and spicy. My friend ordered the gone truffling pizza and when it arrived it looked delicious and the aroma was amazing, I had to try some! I can honestly say this is the best pizza i have ever tasted/eaten, so unique and rich, just beautiful! The look and feel of the deli is great its cosy and decorated nicely, the staff are attentive and helpful, the food is very reasonably priced and they are offering takeaway pizza too. Will definately be coming back as soon as possible.

We chose to come here for breakfast as we’d had such a delicious meal and great service at the restaurant the day before. When we arrived at the cafe, it took what felt like an age to even be acknowledged by the staff. My husband eventually had to loudly ask whether they had a table for two, to which one of the waitresses grunted and pointed at one that had just become available. Our food took a long time to arrive, though it was busy so we weren’t too bothered. It was delicious, as was the orange juice - well worth the wait.Everything felt like it was an effort, unless you were known to the staff then it was all smiles.Your food is great but your staff need some customer service training. A shame, as the staff in the Blue Boar restaurant were very friendly and helpful (am assuming the same people own/run both?)

After 20 minutes wait we had to ask to be served as no waitress had approached our table. Our order was eventually taken but after another half an hour our food, comprising mainly of simple sandwiches, had not arrived. We had to ask again how long it would take especially as tables that had arrived after uswere served before us!Eventually after a total wait of one hour we were served. On paying I was astounded to be berated by the person behind the counter for my temerity in my earlier enquiries and more or less blaming me for such poor service. She didn't apologise but stated that they were short of staff due to sickness. On this showing she's going to be very short of customers as well if the poor service, which has been mentioned in other reviews, continues!

The Blue Boar Deli, Abridge - I found a hair in my food. When I showed the waitress there wasn’t an immediate apology - the waitress just went through all the staff and told me what colour hair the they had - this one is blonde, this one is bald etc. Stuff that she really shouldn’t have said. She took my plate away and said she would take the cost off the bill. When I went to pay and the girl at the till (can’t say lady as she really couldn't be described as that) immediately said, “oh yes, the black hair made by a blonde lady”. How rude to say such a thing. And I said the same to her, although It did take her a while to repeat what she said! I had to get her to repeat it as I really wasn't sure what I heard the first time. I was amazed that the comment even came out of her mouth! So rude!I did eventually get an apology but I am very disappointed in the way I was spoken to and I definitely won't be going there again.

Breakfast came with only one slice toast already buttered which was miserly and annoying. Coffee and tea not great. Staff shouting at each other to talk to each other about their days off and social life was off putting. We went here for breakfast whilst staying at the blue boar. The breakfast was okay.. The sausages were really nice, beans were cheap and not nice. Everything else was fine. The waitress was very lax and hardly cracked a smile.. Completely agree with the comment that says they just serve you in their own time. We sat with our dirty plates in front of us for at least 10 minutes and it wasn't busy. The guy with the shorts and the dark hair is a bonus to this cafe. When trying to order a milkshake my dad asked for 3 different flavours which they didn't have. The guy overheard us talking to the waitress and said which one do you want and went to the shop and bought milky bar. I think he found it a bit of a joke and quite embarrassing that the cafe had a huge list to choose from yet could only serve about 4 choices due to not having the stock. He deserves recognition... What great service! Just a suggestion to the cafe.. Why not cut down your huge choice of milkshakes to about 5 or 10 and make sure you have them all in stock instead of having an endless list of ones you don't have? This cafe could be quite nice but needs a bit of attention to their food and service.

I've been here numerous times either with my husband, friends or family. The food is very good and exactly what you want - good portions and value for money. The deli itself has character too and is far from your usual cafe layout. All of these reasons being why I come back. However, the staff are always a little off. I'm not sure how else to explain it. They don't come with a smile or ask how your food is but will help if something isn't quite right or you ask for something else. They're just not very forthcoming with making sure your food etc is ok.Maybe, despite them not being like a typical cafe (where you typically expect staff to leave you to it), the staff at the The Bridge see themselves and the restaurant in that light. Shame as it it would be even better if thy just smiled! If possible I'd score a 3.5 overall, based on 4 for the food and 3 for staff.

On the outside this looks a nice place for a quick lunchI had a double expresso which was probably the worst expresso everIt had no crema at all and was in fact just a black coffee not even strong. Expresso should be bitter and comes with a really good crema ( the head of the coffee) but just like many places that make it on those large expensive machines. They just use the same coffee whatever you have instead of an expresso blendI then had the speciality sandwich of salt beef on mixed grain breadThis bread has both the texture & taste of a frozen bread quickly defrosted and felt soggy and doughy. This was served with a single slice of tomato and a tiny bit of coleslaw. I prefer a few good quality crisps on the side and a salad. This was one of the worst sandwich I have eaten and to think it's their speciality. What a waste of £8 I won't bother again.

We sat down and ordered our food they came over straight away and we ordered. The time we waited was average for our food so we had a chance to enjoy our drinks. Our order came over and I asked for toast with no Butter because i detest it but when it arrived butter was on my toast. We thought it was a mistake so we asked the woman if she would mind changing it and she rudely replied "i'll sort it". After eating our meal my toast remained on my plate with butter and no one had sorted it. We decided to pay so we could leave because we felt a bad atmosphere in the cafe. once we payed we waited for our change the same woman who ignored our request was looking at the change very confused, my boyfriend took the change and said it is wrong and she replied "thought so" but did not say sorry about the toast or the change. This is a clean Deli, not a greasy spoon, and a place to visit with friends or family. My son loves a trip to the Deli every now and then for a treat, it is also great value.

My mum and brother stopped off here in the summer and recommended I give it a try. Frankly, it was a perfect end to a busy shopping day!Visited with my mum and pleasantly surprised with the really wide choice available. Salt beef is their speciality, but I'm a full English fan. Mum enjoyed the prawn salad, and if you've got room, the chocolate fudge cake and New York cheesecake are to die for. Can't find fault with the service, all very pleasant, and didn't have to wait long either. Already recommended to friends.

I visited The Bridge Cafe in Abridge this morning for the first time - we've been meaning to try it for ages. First impression was that it was much bigger than it looks from the front, and quite nice & cosy inside. Then our coffees arrived and were pretty weak and tasteless, which was very disappointing (I love a coffee, and we'd driven a few miles for this) but forgivable. However, I then noticed some specs in my orange juice that I assumed were bits of freshly squeezed pith. After a few sips, on closer inspection, I realised they were FLIES! Yes, files... PLURAL. My husband had already drunk his without looking. I took it to the counter to show the lady, and she just shrugged her shoulders and without any expression on her face said "oh they're just fruit flies, do you want another?" to which I replied "errrrrrrrrrr, no thanks". No apology or vague embarrassment or anything. We quickly asked for the bill, and to my astonishment x2 Orange Juices were still on there. I took the bill up to the counter so the same lady would see me paying - I wanted to look her in the eye while taking my money. No reaction at all from her, just coldness. Needless to say we felt a bit sick and made a fast get away. We won't be back, and can't advice strongly enough that nobody else goes there. Disgusting place. (Oh and my husbands cooked breakfast was poor too, the mushrooms tasted like they came from a tin).

I have visited this delightful eatery twice in a month and sad to say I'm still out on if I really like it !!!I mean it's a beautiful setting clean and friendly in a funny round about way, not that I need any one to full over on my arrival nor move mountains, but a little eye contact and a smile here or there. The first visit I requested a toasted bagel with smoked salmon, the salmon was tasty but my bagel a little burnt!!!The coleslaw would have been better had the onion been sliced a little thinner!!!It sounds petty I know but if you are a breakfast/ brunch / lunch place then there is little margin for error, I mean this should be simple food !!!! My second visit I only had a coffee which I must say was of good quality.I'll go again, hoping it will be the wining visit !!

I've eaten here a dozen times or so over the last couple of years, due to convenience. It's hit and miss though, one day the eggs being bang on, the next, clearly microwaved. Most of the staff look unhappy and you feel uncomfortable asking anything. When it's quiet, the owner will talk to you, when it has one or two plastic gangsters in there, he'll ignore you, as if he's never met you before. If I owned a cafe, everyone would get the same friendly greeting. This place purely runs of the fact it's based in TOWIE land, no personal touch at all. Rolex wearers and Merc drivers only please....!

Loved the freshly made smoothies. A big plus and something different for breakfast. As a person who cannot eat eggs, bread or meat, I always find something suitable at the bridge deli.

Our walking group had lunch here today. We sat outside and had baguettes, salads and baked potatoes. The service was excellent, the food arrived promptly and was freshly made, delicious and very good value. There were no problems at all with the staff - maybe the deli has taken heed of some of the earlier negative reviews. I would definitely seek this out as a lunch stop if I was in the area again.

Often eat here for breakfast at the weekend. The foods great, really tasty and always well cooked and generous. Bacon sarnies and chicken and coleslaw baguettes are the best!!One thing you have to just except is the bad service, it's always bad, we're used to it. Maybe we have just got used to it, and it is a bit of a joke to us so we don't worry about it. They'll be moody, everything you ask them to do is a hassle and you'll have to go find your own ketchup, but don't worry about it. The bacon sarnies are worth it!!!

Stopped in here with the family after a walk in a nearby park. We ordered snacks and drinks. The cakes looked really good on the counter, and did taste good, but the portions were a little stingy I thought for the price. The staff were friendly enough, I didnt see the poor service mentioned by others, although the waitress did seem a little flustered taking the order and brining the food (not sure why, it was not exactly busy). The coffee was pleasant, as was the hot chocolate. So a nice place to stop off if passing through, but I'm not sure I'd make a special journey to go there.

Stopped off here on a ride through Essex, the place looked promising its the only little Café on that stretch, but the food was terrible! Ok the full breakfast is only £4.95 but you get what you pay for, I would have paid double for something better! Un-cooked eggs, tinned tomato's and soggy bread (swimming in the water from the tinned tomato's) just a cheap builders breakfast, its disappointing because this place with a little effort could be SO MUCH MORE! its a lovely little town and could whip up something much better for the local's and people travelling through who are after something good!

Really nice food with a good selection from all day breakfast, salt beef sandwiches and nice selection of cakes.Although this is let down by the service which is a little short in terms of niceties as it all seems too much unless you are perceived as a regular.

This used to be my local haunt just because the kids schools are down the road. The food here is quite good when they get the orders right, but the real shame are the stroppy staff who spend the whole time gossiping between themselves so loud that it is uncomfortable, when you try to order you are inconveniencing them. It's quite expensive which would be fine accept for the terrible service even to the regulars! We have even been asked to move to a smaller table whilst eating? Found the blue room cafe down the road and have never looked back.

Popped in here on tuesday afternoon for lunch and I have to say the blonde lady behind the counter serving really annoyed me, her attitude was terrible and she spoke to me like I was a peace of dirt, she kept givin me dirty looks and'seemed more intrested in talkin to her friend, as for the establishment its self I felt was poorly kept, there was dust and food all over the floor, cups & glasses were chipped, plates were smeary and seemed to have stains on them and remains of old food, of cause this was off putting, when complaing about this the waitress looked at me as if I was mad for complaing about such a thing and was rather rude about the whole situation. My food itself wasnt too bad but it could have been better, dont think I will bother coming here again, might have to try the blue rooms or the log cabin in future see if we get a better reception there, would go to blue boar but we find this is to expensive for us.

Visited here several times now, wish I never bothered wont be going again. The women that worked on the day I went in were terrible, instead of being greated with smiles and hellos, like on my last visit I was looked up and down by the lady behind the counter, no smile just a cold unwelcoming look on her face, after sitting down with a friend for aprx 7 mins, she then came over to take our order (they werent busy at this time 2 or 3 other tables) she seemed very stroppy and it was as if she just couldnt be bothered, I couldnt fault the food its self it came out rather fast and I thought was cooked to a good satisfactory standard, it was just the people serving that let it down. Kept giving horrible looks and genrally just seemed like horrible ignorant people. On other days staff have treated us really well, its a shame really cause they let the rest of the staff down.

We visited The Bridge Deli today for breakfast. We could not fault the food or the establishment itself. The only thing that lets this great place down in the staff. Lovely food, great milkshakes but is let down by rubbish service. The staff are always more interested in chatting amongst themselves and reluctant to serve you; when they do it always seems a chore, rarely smile etc and often you have to call them or get up to get them - it is only a small place too. This is a big shame as the rest of it is very good.

We had a previous bad experience here but we thought we'd give it one more try...wish we hadn't bothered.A clicky environment with staff (especially the arrogant Manager with the large ego) so desperate to please the 'TOWIE' set, that everyone else is an inconvenience. Limited menu, often with unsatisfactory substitutions (no Bagels and arrived on poor quality white processed bread with no apology!), poorly cooked (literally couldn't cook an egg!) and all took far too long. Never again!!The displayed extensive Milkshake menu couldn't deliver, with standard chocolate bar flavours out of stock. All arrived lacking in flavour - top prices for bland drinks I can only liken to Nesquick! To top it all, I received a parking fine as there is no adequate parking facility nearby. In future I will stick to 'The Blue Rooms Cafe' just down the road. They have a great extensive good value menu, professionally cooked and couldn't be more friendly and accomodatiing - ample parking.
