Two Brewers in Epping Forest

The food was average really, typical US-Asia ripoff but with the typical UK over price, as for the atmosphere, I felt like I was on the set of TOWIE, girls in cloths that were really designed for size 10-12 woman not size 20-24, the guys were mostly dressed in cloths 4 sizes too small for them and more make up than the woman, it was a very funny experience. We had to wait to be seated way longer than was necessary due to the clueless staff talking and playing with their phones instead of clearing finished tables. No leadership out on the floor Yeah I guess this is what’s popular in the UK in 2025, way over priced but then I guess they have to charge these prices in Ripoff Britain.

Soon to be one of my fave spots after 2 great dining experiences here. The Scallops starter was delicious and my husband has the buttermilk burger which was voted our fave chicken burger to date! For real. The duck and pancake rolls main (approx £18) wasn't on the same level as the other dishes. But I valued the lovely salad alongside the cucumber you'd have in a duck pancake roll. Wine & food menu is changed regularly keeping the menu fresh. Atmosphere is great, we visited on a day where may people were outside. It was a busy Friday here. I'm not surprised as the staff are friendly, drinks flowing and food is delicious

TL;DR service was very awkward, food was disgusting I very often stop here on bike rides and never had any issues. The food is usually great and the weather was always nice enough to stay outside. Today was a bit cold but we had no bike locks for relatively expensive bikes so asked if we could bring them in somewhere and go inside. The barman was very nice and said he’ll figure it out. He literally had a chat with a manager 10 meters away from me looking at me, which felt really awkward and just told me now. The manager just went away. The fact I cannot bring the bike in is fine, I don’t agree but it’s totally up to them. But the way that went down was quite awkward. I’ve ordered some chilli beef salad. And I am not joking, this was the worst meal I have ever had in a pub. It was tiny burnt pieces of beef drenched in some sugary water. But I mean drenched. I was starving so ate most of it, but hours later my stomach is still turning.

We have been coming here for years after an ‘escape London’ walks in Hainault forest. Always have the best time, beer is always in great condition and can always grab a table out front in their big beer garden which hosts families, partners with dogs etc great facilities amazing food and lovely bar staff - highly recommend

Don’t live around the area so quickly has a glance at maps and found this one, regret it massively! Took about 30 minutes to order our food, but then we still had to ask to order our food, hardly busy at the time. Ordered the duck leg pancake thing, and then told that they don’t have it from a waitress half way across the room, no apologies at all, no smile or anything from our waitress, and then asked for some sauces and was told they didn’t have them and then got another sauce which was basically thrown at us. Also asked for another sauce which she said she would get and never arrived. Didn’t ever crack a smile whilst we was here! Didn’t feel welcoming at all, the gentlemen at the bar we spoke to seemed lovely and cheerful when we walked in so credits to him! I’m upset that I’ve had to write this but I think they need to have a chat with their staff to be more welcoming and accommodating and at least crack a smile, I get everyone has bad days but when you work customer facing you need to put a front up. Never felt so unwelcoming!!

I went to this pub due to the gluten free options on the menu. I highlighted to staff I suffered with coeliac disease and it was confirmed both my starter and main were gluten free. After arriving home I had a massive reaction and was violently sick which I have only experienced once before due to eating gluten (i am usually always so careful). In my opinion it was definitely either not gluten free or was cross contaminated. If this is not the case as the pub believe, then there was clearly an issue with the fish. I wasn’t going to leave a review and thought I would give the pub the option to reply. However, the response I received did not fill me with confidence and therefore I am leaving this review so no other person coeliac disease suffers the way I did. The pub stated they are part of the “Coeliac Society” an organisation/society I have never heard of in my 15 years of suffering with Coeliac disease. If they mean Coeliac UK then I would question why they do not advertise this and why they do not display the Coeliac UK Approved Logo/QR. From a personal perspective I will never return and would not recommend to anyone with coeliac disease. Maybe I was unlucky and my food was cooked in the “wrong fryer”

We visited this pub/restaurant when we went out for lunch. It has great decor, the staff were very friendly, we got a table straight away. We ordered our lunch with drinks and we didn’t have to wait too long. The food was very good, fresh and hot. It has seating outside as well, great for dining in the sunshine. Lots of dog walkers stopping for a drink. We want to go back for an evening meal.

Haven’t been in this restaurant for a while as it has been a bit “hit and miss” middle/end of last year. So pleased we tried it though as the service was great from behind the bar and into the staff in the restaurant. Food was excellent quality and very well cooked and presented. I was so pleased with the whole evening, that I asked if it had changed manager recently. It has and her name is Teagan, and I made a point of introducing myself. And she has been in situ for about 5-6 months now and was great at explaining some of the positive changes that have been made. In all honesty. I would have to say that this is a must visit venue if your in the area and lucky enough to get a table…… Enjoy Guys!

Not been here in a while having had an unexpected unpleasant experience with a drunk woman a while back with her 2 male friends. Basically foul language and they were asked to leave nonethless i had hoped it would have been a 1 off. Sadly no. Yet again group of men outside effing and jeffing then walked into bar again packed with very rough group of men and women. Witnessed a woman swearing at her bloke who walked out left her and she proceeded to chase him called him a c**t and hammered on his car window full on row ensued. Charming. I wanted to leave but thought im here now. We had a nice table in the corner but noticed a very drunk blonde woman lighting up a ciggie in the bar then staggering into the toilets. We were all disgusted. She ended up being escorted out. Suffice to say nothings changed. Its a stunning pub. Food is incredible quality and waitresses are lovely but this place is let down by the low life that drink there. Its prob the only pub near hainault and locally so this is probably why. Real pity as it could be lovely. Lots of dog and owners but def not for families. Wont be back just because of the riff raff.

Staff worked extremely hard to please customers.unfortunately the food was quite poor.the chips were undercooked. Three of us all had different meals but were all unwell the next day.All felt bloated and uncomfortable. The place was nearly empty.

After seeing previous reviews I was worried but I can honestly say we had a delicious meal the service was very attentive and the Sunday afternoon atmosphere was busily. So don’t believe everything you read! I would definitely recommend!

We ordered a few snacks and waited for 50 minutes. When we asked the waitress if everything was okay with our order, she informed us that they had lost the ticket and had just placed the order. Unfortunately, the food wasn’t tasty at all. Sadly, we won’t be returning.

I love everything about this place. It's in a nice location, the staff are all very friendly and there's always a good atmosphere. The food is nice too.

Worst restaurant Ive ever been to. Over cooked food. No check-back. No drink orders. Cleared our own table. 45 mins wait after we finished our mains just to get dessert menus. 45 mins wait for desserts that never arrived. 2 1/2 hrs for just main courses.

Terrible !! The bartender that took our drinks order from the bar was the only one good person in there (IC1) We came in for a lunch place was empty We finished our food and we literally needed to clean our own table because nobody was bothered to come and check on us ! We waited 40 mins just to get the dessert menu! We asked for the menu! Finally one girl came and gave us menu and left all the dirty plates! I came up to the bar and I saw 4 people standing having a chat and I told them we would like to order the dessert from the table. One girl finally came and took our order! We asked her to put child pasta as take away . We waited 45 mins for our desserts to come And guess what it never arrived nor the pasta. I spoke to the manager they all blamed the kitchen, but please tell me how the table next to us had the mains before our dessert even tho we ordered them before the table even arrived Terrible really terrible

I had never been to this pub before but I have to say We felt really welcome, food is very good and a really nice hub bub feeling. Definitely will come back fir food and drink again.

Nice pub shame about the meal. I ordered fish and chips and the fish tasted strongly of rancid oil. I’m guessing that the oil in which it was fried in, is not changed on a regular basis. On paying our bill this was mentioned but there was no offer to take any money off the bill. I picked on my meal and barely ate. Sadly won’t be returning here to eat based on this experience.

I would not recommend this place to anyone, the waitresses are rude, the food was bland! And they seem to treat foreign customers differently and this was seen when we were seated out of the way in a crammed area. The food is over priced for the quality you get it.

This has been a favourite haunt for many many years, although I haven’t been for quite a while. I recommended it as a meeting point with friends, travelling from outside the area. It started badly as our request on booking a well lit table by a window (as a member of the party has poor vision) had not been noted and we were initially shown to a table in the darkest part of the the restaurant! We didn’t accept it and chose where we wanted to sit instead, (it was early so not yet busy) but another lady came over to us unhappy with this and was quite brusque. She said we should have stated our request when booking! We told her we did! She then said ‘well our system can’t guarantee specific seating requests!’ So why not tell us that when we booked? Her story was inconsistent and her manner unfriendly. She ended up stomping off as she didn’t like the conversation! She sent someone else to serve us and the young girl tried hard but it really wasn’t great. Asked whether we wanted mushy peas or garden peas with the fish && chips, we requested garden. The dish came with mushy and she said as bringing it over ‘the kitchen got it wrong - shall I take it back? ‘ we accepted it as it was. One of our dishes - a cold open sandwich arrived almost 10 mins after the other meals! A pot of tea was ordered after the meal and arrived only half full! When challenged she told us ‘if it’s filled more it spills when I carry it’! The quality of the food was nowhere near as good as it used to be. The fish didn’t taste fresh and far too much batter for my liking. Chips just weren’t great - most were left. Overall a really disappointing experience especially as this was such a good place in times past.

Sunday they looked understaffed, the drinks were slow we had to do a lot of asking for various things which became quite annoying. I appreciate the staff were trying their best with what they had but overall it was disappointing. The food has really gone down hill, the fish cakes were dry, the chips were hard and the sticky toffee pud had barely any custard. I don’t think we will come back again for group bookings we will have to find somewhere else. The only positive is they took the fish cakes off the bill, brought out extra custard and took the service off the bill.

Regret booking this as my birthday lunch. We were a group of 10 and have all agreed we wont be returning with family, friend or other meals going forward. The chips were hard and so were the potatoes. We asked for another potion of chips and the second batch also come out undercook we left it all. Had to send back the sausages in blankets because they were not cooked and the pastry on the pie was also undercooked. Meat in the roast was inconsistence some under cooked and some over. The sticky toffee pudding had no toffee sauce and was basically a cake with very limited custard (had to ask for more). The staff were working so hard but rushed of their feet. We had to wait for drinks for over 30 minutes and ordered at 2.45 but wasn't served until 5pm. Don't mind waiting if the food is going to be good but it wasn't. We have given you a few chance now as we loved the restaurant so much but 3 consistently visits have been so disappointing wont be coming back. This wasn't cheap either it costs £40-£50 per person, the only good thing was the nibbles.

Great service? Great food? Highly recommended the crispy beef salad? Nice fresh crisp salad? Freshly prepared beef? Mild sweet chilli dressing? Roast cashew nuts? A must. Try the deep fried brie? Beutiful.

Food took 50 minutes to arrive - supposedly a dog friendly pub however no food available for the dog at all.

This is a great pub. The food can be excellent, though it's hit and miss. The issue is that it's invariably short staffed. The staff there work their hardest, but clearly 4 or 5 extra heads are needed at any given time. It's probably the same in the kitchen. Still, great atmosphere and well worth a visit.

Dog friendly pub. Used to be wall to wall with fit barmaids. I miss the old manager. I also met an Only Fans girl here once. It's not the sort of pub that would happen in so I'm really pleased with my achievement. Is recommend anyone visits here and gets an Only Fans contact details.

Went for a Christmas meal with 10+ people in a private room. Great food and service

I have always loved this pub & I hate Christmas. I decided that me, mum, auntie and uncle would do something different this year and go out for Xmas dinner and my god was it everything and more. What a way to spend Christmas! No stress, fabulous food and even more amazing staff who was all professional, friendly and awesome, they made you feel like you was at home and we just had the best time. Thank you so much to everyone involved for making this a Christmas to remember and I will bring my dog next year!

Lovely food and excellent service

If you’re looking for a cosy pub with a warm atmosphere and great food then Two Brewers is the place to go. We had a few drinks to begin with in the bar area plus some Padron Peppers and then sat down for some food. I would recommend booking a table in the bar area rather than the restaurant as I feel it has a better atmosphere but it’s up to you. The food was perfect and piping hot. My pie was particularly tasty.

I get the impression that I really didn't see this place at its best. It looks clean and comfortable and probably is. But on a Wednesday night that was moderately busy, the place appeared to be short staffed and too many items on a specially prepared menu were unavailable. There's little point in offering a nice, varied menu if you can't provide 25% of it. Planning seems to be an issue here. The staff, while pleasent, were clearly frustrated. Having serving staff complaining to customers doesn't project a good impression. There is a carpark, and I would say the venue is wheelchair accessible.

I was extremely disappointed and shocked how much a solid 5 star that we have been to several times as gone down hill. (My 2022 5 star review follows this one) Went today for family meal for my sons 20th Birthday it started off very well, we had some of the picking plates for starters which were very tasty. Table was cleared and waitress thought it was acceptable just to dump a pile of cutlery for our mains in a heap on the corner of the table. Four out of five mains came up, one wrong and one missing a side. After 5 mins I went to find the waitress few minuteslater the final main came up and the wrong meal had been sorted out but the steak was stone cold, waitress informed me that my side would still be a few minutes as they had used my side to complete the meal that was wrong that came back with cold steak. Manager came over to see what the problem was he was nice and assured us that he would sort out the issues and offered 2 out of 5 of us a complementary drink and would do something with the bill (not really the point as we came out to all eat together and celebrate a birthday) The young waitress thought i was aceptable to moan how hard she has been working describing the blisters on her feet and moan about her job (great dinner table conversation) food was ok notthing like the excellent delicious food we have has on previous visits. Deserts were fantastic unlike the waitress handing out spoons from the dished end. Managers idea of doing something with the bill was one free desert. Honestly what a dissapointing experience over £50 a head your better off going Wetherspoons December 2022 Only been here a couple of times over past few years most recently for my sons 18th birthday excellent food and great service made a excellent memory for sons 20th birthday

I had the battered cod and chips, the batter was very hard and quite greasy. The meal cost seemed a little high so not in a rush to return. Waitress was very attentive though, and it's always nice to catch up with friends in amy case.

Good atmosphere. Friendly staff. We were quickly seated at a good table. The waiter we had was friendly he was well versed in how to make customers relaxed and 'special' Food was excellent.

Absolute joke. Ordered dessert and waited 40 minutes, nothing. No one bothered to check if we had received our food. I decided to ask myself where our food was, the staff didn't have a clue. Not even an apology for making us wait 40 minutes. Order hadn't even been put through. Terrible customer service. Avoid this place.

Awful Sunday lunch - started off with the waitress getting the drinks order wrong. Starters were ok, nothing exciting though. The starter plates were not collected and mains were served, waitress was quite rude when we pointed this out. The whole party had a roast with different meats, and not one was edible. Visted this pub restuarant Saturday 26 Oct for an evening meal, we did reserve a table, but on arriving our table was occupied, we were informed there had been a booking error so we had to make do with an alternative in the corner. Not a good start, the young waitress asked would we like drinks, I enquired what ale's were available, she didn't have a clue, I had to walk to the bar to find out myself. The menu had changed and lacked variety from previous visits, the food was acceptable but not what you would expect at the prices charged. We would not be returning, it was suppose to be a birthday treat but all in all a dissapointing evening. The staff and AdminTeam need training on a number of issues to make this Restuarant work efficiently. RLT

Possibly the worse Sunday roast I have had in a long time, I don’t think any of it was freshly prepared, terrible potatoes and dreadful cold Yorkshire pudding. The beef was rare and covered in fat and gristle. The whole dish had a very strange smell about it. This place has so many staff standing around, however it takes ages to get served at the bar. Talk about go down the pan, used to be a decent place.

Me, my wife and my father in law came into the pub for a few drinks. We were kicked off our table because someone booked it online and "because we didn't reserve it, they could book it" regardless of the fact we were there before they booked. Utterly shocking system.

Great experience at the restaurant for Sunday lunch. Waitress was absolutely lovely - friendly to the whole party including the children and very attentive. Food was delicious and the portion size is great! Also the value for the 8 of us eating there was much better than at other places we have visited. Great accommodation of dogs and super close to hainault forest for pre/post walks. Bathrooms also kept well and clean. Would highly recommend and would visit again.

Disappointing, Sunday Roast, most of which was cold. Half a lager and a glass of wine £18! We were offered a free dessert, which was lukewarm. Afraid to say, we won’t return. ☹️

Was a family birthday celebration, have been here at lunch time and been pleased with food and service so thought we would have Sunday roast.....the service was really disappointing, and food overpriced....really couldn't recommend

Lovely little pub off the main beat. Friendly bar lady was helpful. Food was delicious the bang bang cauliflower was delicious as was the burger I had. You can walk lunch off by going for a walk through a Forrest type common with a lake and ducks pretty well opposite the pub.

Always a nice welcome. Food is of a high standard and reasonably priced. Service is very attentive throughout, will definitely return.

We come here on our visits to East London. Food is fantastic, large portions and brilliant service by the staff. I am ceoliac and there is a wide range of gluten free options on the menu. Two brewers is always on our places to eat!

Went to the Two Brewers for a wake. Warm welcome. They had set aside an area for our party, which was nice. The food was tasty. Service was prompt and friendly.

Too expensive no price list for drinks .I was charged extra for food and drinks which I didn’t order.

Great place to eat outside in a summers day especially during the week. Eating inside is usually great too but I don’t recommend Sundays as it’s rammed! Fish and chips is very good, and generally the standard of cooking is high. It’s dog friendly so if like me you have a dog that’s all good. Worth mentioning is that the pub is located almost next to Hainault forest which is lovely for a walk.

The portions of what we had were very small and the meals were not what we expected - I ordered the fish cake! Great disappointment - no taste and almost just enough to suit a child’s portion, the onion rings were not cooked properly and very greasy as was the garlic bread which was dripping with oil Overall not a good experience for food - but the venue itself comfortable Improvements need to be made before we come back again!

Having eaten and reviewed many pubs & restaurants throughout the years.The Two Brewers is easily the best for food I have tried !! I have Anniversary lunch with my Mrs here and the food not only tasted amazing but also looked great and obviously prepared by a great chef who cares about food. The Malaysian Curry and Crispy Beef salad were both exceptional. Twin this with perfect service with a smile,and this is a gastro pub getting it spot on. I ate here many years ago and thinking the food was great then,but this was even better. Thanks to the staff and chef for making our date a truly special one!!

So very disappointed with our meal today 28 July 2024. I ordered beef roast dinner. It was awful. Meat inedible, so tough and chewy. Yorkshire pudding cold. Roast potatoes just about warm and tasted like they were not fresh. Greens were mush and green beans hard. Whole meal tasteless. My husband ordered the Cod and Chips. His meal was no better. Fish dry and the batter hard. Chips barely warm. Again, absolutely tasteless

Had lunch here on Saturday (29/6) and had a manager come to our table and berate the waitress. Apparently she had taken the wrong card machine from behind the bar. Absolutely appalling manner in which to speak to a member of staff - regardless of whether she is actually dealing with a table. Shocking!

We had a fantastic time. The chicken burger was incredibly delicious and full of rich, complex flavours. Every bite was a delight for our taste buds. This place is definitely at the top of our preferences

Went for a Sunday roast. Waited 45 mins for the food to come which is not a problem. But it turned up cold. Sent it back. It came back on a hot plate with hot gravy. The roast potatoes where over cooked and old. The chicken and vegetables were tasteless and all the food was still cold. They take your money before you eat and then you have no choice but to complain. Nobody to complain to as only young waitress and waiters and not a manager in site. Will not be going back.

Not very good being phoned 2 days before Father’s Day saying we can longer come to dog friendly part of the pub due to not having space so not can’t bring your dog, when I’ve had this booked for 6 weeks. Disappointing!

After reading the recent dire reviews on the way to the Two Brewers, thought we had made a real booboo coming...however we were certainly not disappointed, the food was absolutely delish, wine and beer ice cold and staff very friendly! Couldn't really go wrong with our choice of starters including squid, pate and peppers Padron, all came out quick, well presented, and the mains, salmon, fish and chips and braised lamb shoulder were also well cooked, decent portion sizes and tasty, so think the issue with the food and service might have been resolved now, fingers crossed! My only issue was being charged extra for the additional single slice of toast for the pate, ratio of pate to toast was definitely wrong in my humble opinion...but we will be back Brewers x

This is one lovely place....cosy, comfortable.....it's hard to reach by public transport (if you want a drink and don't want to drive), but that's the only minor downside. Lovely outside area, cosy and comfortable inside. Not cheap, but worth it....

Avoid! Pretentious and overpriced food at ridiculous prices. A pint and a coke cost over £10. Service was awful, my girlfriend’s food took over an hour and never arrived, they said that they had refunded us but the refund is still yet to come. Wrong orders were brought out and the couple next to us said they waited an hour and 45 mins for their food. To add insult to injury there is a mandatory £3 service charge. What a joke! This place is a scam.

Ok for lunch staff seemed distant and uninterested nice ambiance in Pub to my recollection Two Brewers was always bit snooty out four pubs on that road but they have managed to survive so they must be doing something right prawn cocktail not hard to get right my quiche goats cheese sprig of lettuce little red onion adequate for a starter overall it was ok because I was in good company food seemed insignificant my had Cranberry juice and I had Merlot …… Have eaten there before and I know they do a lot better was dull Tuesday so they can be forgiven… 💫💫 only stars

Amazing pub/restaurant with very welcoming staff who looked after my disabled mum really well. They even offered her a small roast dinner, as she can't eat a lot

We went there for a wake and so I can't comment on the prices, but the staff were friendly and professional.

We went for Sunday lunch, what an absolute gem of a place! Staff were amazing and really made it for us as looked after us better than anywhere we've been recently. Very accommodating and friendly, nothing too much trouble!. Thankyou for looking after our elderly less able guest! Food was excellent and plentiful, lots of choice. Excellent all round bit the front of house staff made it for us today!

We visited on 4 may for a 90th birthday party lunch and were given the private room which was perfect. Philip, who took our orders, could not have been more helpful and we certainly challenged him with requests for chairs, cushions and with food questions!! The round table made the gathering very inclusive. The service was good, we weren't pestered though and the food was excellent. Once we were ready to leave, splitting payment was very easily handled by Philip and we were happy to leave a healthy tip. All in all a great experience and the birthday girl had a great time. Thank you Two Brewers.

Just want to say how much we love coming to this pub/restaurant, that’s Me, Milo (my service dog), my family and my friends. It’s the perfect place to socialise and meet friends too. The staff are so welcoming, friendly and accommodating. Great atmosphere and lovely setting. Perfect for all occasions.

Lovely food and so great to have a dog friendly pub, where dogs are welcome inside and even have their own menu. Love this!

I went with friends for the first time here. Lovely, clean, and comfortable place.

Unfortunately our visit was very poor. Food was not what was expect from a ‘gastro’ pub. Service and resolving problems with the food was awful. We ordered the sardine tempura as it sounded different . It was very oily and not good. Batter was not a light tempura coating. The real issues came when we ordered 2 x steak sandwiches. The meat was so tough and gristly that we were unable to chew. When we returned the dishes we were told that they would take it up with the suppliers. We asked if there was any remedy and we were told no (no discount, apology, alternative option etc). So after spending over £30 on food that was un-edible we will not be returning to this pub with very average food.
