Cast Iron Grill in Epping Forest

Had an average meal and got completely robbed. Went with a group of three and we all got £100 parking charge on our cars. Went at night when the signs were not marked properly and no staff mentioned the parking on entry. Ultimately this company got the bill paid plus an extra £100 per head on parking fees. I am happy to amend this review if they can make it right. If your reading this now you can assume the above never happened. Be careful of this place as you could leave like me.... Feeling scammed

Consistently great steaks. Shame about the restaurant layout though as it ends up being a bit soulless.

Had dinner here after staying on business. Not busy, very few ppl but service and food was good. Well presented and you can see the quality.

Attention to additional charges of 12.5% to your bill! This is optional- can be removed from bill on requests!

There was one option a mountain burger- one of the best we’ve tasted. The waiter was very accommodating and asked the chief to convert a vegetarian option into a vegan; it was also delicious. In terms of service and food quality -excellent . In terms of options- good , so 4 star overall.

Good breakfast and evening meal, really comfy bed and nice pool facilities - what more could you ask for

Staying in the hotel so seemed an easy option to go with. Ordered a ribeye steak, which with a sauce was nearly £30. Ordered medium rare, but came out well done. Tasted ok rather than good and not as I ordered. Will eat out next time I stay here……

Lovely food and the staff are great.

The food was thoroughly disappointing, especially for the price it was. We were there for a celebration and so no-one was really in the mood to complain, but my and my partner’s dishes were so overcooked they weren’t very pleasant at all. The restaurant looks like it prides itself on being a steakhouse. I, therefore, ordered steak - medium rare. It came at least well done. This was not the only dish. To be fair, the waiter did offer to exchange it, but that would have just meant that we were eating without the rest of the table. Service was friendly but slow. But the real issue was the quality of the food in line with the price. Not acceptable really and a real shame as we were really looking forward to it.

4 people. Food was average at best. Bland. 1 katsu curry starter. No curry. Poor. Main. 2 pork over cooked. 1 steak under cooked. Blue cheese sauce with no cheese flavour. Drink orders wrong. Only order 2 drinks per round .1drink each round was wrong. To top it off. 12.5% service charge. Which added £20 to the bill for 4 people.

The customer service is constantly efficient, good mood, friendly employees. Will eat here again when I arrive in town.

Excellent evening. We went here for my mums 70th birthday. The restaurant had decorated the table which was a lovely touch. Food was great. Service was amazing. Thank you for making mum’s birthday special.

Not bad value on the 3 course special but the desert seemed a little lacking Drinks are also quite expensive

Really disappointed. I booked this restaurant for my sons birthday I asked for the premium steak menu in advance. The service was very poor had to keep calling them over. Then after we had given our order and eaten our starters the lady came and told us that the steaks we ordered they didn’t have. They had ran out of fillets and rib eye. Ridiculous when they know 8 people are coming to eat of the steak menu. Unfortunately will not be returning very over priced for what you get.

Gluten and Dairy Free freshly prepared. I thought pricing was very reasonable fir a hotel restaurant, food was freshly prepared and care was taken to cater for my food intolerances. Would recommend.

The food was nice but not fantastic

I don't think I can find anything positive to say about this experience. The service was appalling - slow inattentive and orders taken down incorrectly. We had to ask three times before the drink order arrived correctly. The set menu had little choice and was uninspiring so we went from the a la carte. The food took ages to arrive and was adequate but overpriced. We gave up on getting a dessert when we were left without a single member of staff coming to us and asking what we required. A hefty 12.5% "discretionary" service charge was added to the bill which we declined to pay - there was nothing to warrant it.

Food wasn’t impressive. I ordered a super food salad but the menu did not say that this salad would be smothered in a creamy mustard sauce. The amount of sauce on the salad over powered all the other fresh ingredients and made it unpleasant.

Had the Fathers Day menu and really enjoyed it. The kids were well taken care of and the food we had was lovely. Staff very helpful and even helped with an alternative dessert for our son who has allergies to peanuts. The chef needs to be a bit more helpful though when asked about allergy information. Saying "some may have nuts and some won't" is not very helpful when a child has severe nut allergies but one of the matradees was great in coming over to help us and explaining the allergy information etc. Will definitely go back. 🙂

Excellent steak. Great service. Pricey but worth it

The food at the Marriott at Waltham Abbey is very good and a good choice of food. Lamb cutlets and slow cooked beef on the bone were delicious and plenty to eat. A fair selection of wines. Service was very good and friendly. All very relaxed and worth eating here. It's a good place to meet family and friends as plenty of room and you are not rushed by anyone.

Staff went extra miles to find information for me both within her team and other team. Thank you.

An excellent set menu, my wife and I had the 3-course and came away very satisfied and at a good price 😀 The rump steak was absolutely delicious and I am a big fan of the mackerel fishcakes.

We only had breakfast here, but the food put out for our breakfast was really good, lots of choice and as much as you wanted, very good coffee as well.

The food was average but overpriced, especially when using gravy granules for the gravy served with the pork T-bone. The fries also weren't very crispy.  However the service was awful. After having started off well, when clearing the table after the mains the waitress instead of asking if everything was alright with the food, asked me if there was something wrong with mine (I had only left a bit of salad and a few chips), which I thought was a bit odd. When the bill arrived, after not bothering with dessert, they had added a 12.5% service charge - By this point we had already decided that the service did not deserve a tip. Then we noticed they had put on a dessert that we did not order, to which when we questioned this they replied with 'what dessert did you have then?' - nothing! they then gave us another bill, and again we waited another 10 mins with no one bothering to come to the table, so we decided to go up and pay. There were no apologies or questions about our meal. I would understand a wait on the waitresses coming to the table if the restaurant was busy, but there was only one other table in the restaurant- the waitresses were more bothered about clearing down for the next morning, rather than serving their current customers.

I must admit that I have been here before and the place has been dead. However tonight it was busy and lively. The food was severed quickly with a smile. Fish and Chips and chicken Caesar Salad were both good. Good standard Marriott Restaurant.

What a disappointment this was. A very average serve yourself Sunday lunch albeit in really nice surroundings was expensive at almost £40 per head ( one bottle of Wine) and including a child. The Prawn Cocktail starter(there were several others) was dreadful and the allocation of prawns made one feel that War time rationing had returned The beef was extremely tough and one guest left virtually all of hers. Overall the buffet selection was limited although the dessert choice wasn't bad. Service was fairly good but how anyone can justify a 12.5% service charge for a BUFFET with only limited service beggars belief. There are much better value restaurants around locally so avoid. Would we use it again most decidedly -No

Service was a little slow and the selection is fairly basic but the food is fine and reasonably well priced by hotel restaurant standards.

Every time we have been here the restaurant is closed on a Sunday! Yet online it says they are open!

The restaurant attached to the Marriott has an extensive menu for dinner. Open til 10pm. Breakfast is pretty good here and the chef is always on hand to help. It is an open kitchen so you can see what's going on.
