Lovely Sunday roast, good size meal and very tasty

The food was really nice … once it arrived. They seem to not have enough staff as it took ages for seating , menus , orders made , food arrived, second of round of drinks deserted and coffee to order and then to arrive. This was a on a not very busy Saturday and the staff attending were continually running around.

Had a lovely meal, the staff, specifically Simon and Callum were very accommodating and helpful especially with any allergies that we had and the food was delicious. Definitely be back soon

We were served today by our waitress Natalie and she made sure we had everything we needed but also helped us with activating our dining out card it is a shame their is only 5 stars we can award ,will definitely come again

Very hit and miss. Some meals are great but it seems there is always one that is not good when there are more than two people dining. It's lovely and close for us and we would eat regularly, well at least once a month if only we could rely on a decent meal every time. The staff are mainly good and the surroundings are lovely. It feels like the meals are pre-prepared/bought in and cooked on the premises rather than prepared and cooked from scratch. I know it's not possible to do everything from scratch but the main meals should be done that way. Some starters and some deserts can be bought in but surely the mains should be prepared and cooked to order!

Had a very enjoyable evening, celebrating a friend’s birthday, good food and service throughout the evening. The two main waiting staff, Jake and a young lady, were admirable, and the only minor negative point was that the coffee I had at the end of the evening was a little weak and flavourless. Jolly good overall, I would recommend this establishment.

I went there new years eve I ordered prawn cocktail which was ok, then my main meal of rib eye steak ( Well done) it was served to me rear to medium I sent it back and after half hour waiting to which all my other party had now finished theirs it come back still very much under cooked disgusting how a chef can't cook steak properly to their customers requirements my desert was apple & mince custard which was cold the the singer was rubbish they didn't clear the table without being asked to do so, I asked to see the manager he never come to see me the evening was a disaster for me and will never return to that pub again

Had a take away tonight, guess the chef was off. Beef bourgingnon was small, end of day 2 carrots and tender stem, the full meal only covered half a dinner plate, not great. Also had the fish cakes, lacked any flavour and they were cooked to death, very disappointed overall.

Our favourite pub in the area. Very friendly staff, excellent food, dog friendly, really modern decor and very good service.

TERRIBLE SERVICE-While waiting to be seated with a newborn and young child, no staff member acknowledged our presence. We had to ask a barman working, only to be told that someone would be with us momentarily. Ten minutes later, we were still waiting and had to politely request assistance again before finally being shown to our table. By this point, we should have left. The food took over an hour to come and both the chicken and the beef Wellington were extremely dry. We had to request extra gravy from three different waitresses, to make the meal better, but, unfortunately, the extra gravy never arrived, further highlighting the poor service. We then brought this issue to the attention of the barman, who was dismissive and unapologetic. Throughout the entire experience, he demonstrated a complete lack of concern for customer satisfaction.

Had Christmas lunch here today . Beautiful food , we were not rushed at all . The food was beautiful, and there was a lovely Christmas atmosphere. Lovely attentive staff and excellent service from Chelsea Well done all of you , we will back next year

Chelsea was absolutely brilliant today serving us for our Christmas Day meal. Polite, friendly, even helped encourage our youngest to finish her meal before desert. what a real delight to have her serving us today, she is a credit to The Fish & Eels. Warm and inviting environment. Service was quite slow for the amount of customers in the pub. Food was okay but pricy. Would be nice to see an actual lunch menu at more competitive prices . If we had more time we would have chosen to visit one of other local pubs .

Yet another visit to this beautiful pub. We were served by Jess with efficiency & her lovely smile. We had the Christmas menu. Mine was a veggie Wellington with all all the works. My friend had the steak. We enjoyed our meal.

Ethan and the staff were top notch, looked after us and my 2 week old baby in a perfect little cubby hole table over the christmas period, felt really nice!

What a beautiful location. The warm feeling when you walk in is truly comforting with tge real log fires. Food was great. Michelle took wonderful care of us making us feel so welcome. Can't wait to return.

We were a party of 8 for lunch. Staff were brilliant, helpful, kind, attentive, gave us a great table, couldn’t have been more helpful. Suspect they were very understaffed as we had to wait a while for service…..when it came, no problem. Food-wise, very mixed. Soup delicious, fish almost inedible (sorry, so tough and too much batter), fish cakes ok, vegan wrap cold and rather tasteless, chicken curry ok, fish finger sandwich bog standard. Despite confirming our order at the start, there was no sign of the vegan wrap till half way through everyone else’s courses -someone had got it wrong in the kitchen, we think. Bit of a mixed picture…..prices are quite expensive compared locally and we did expect a better quality of food, to be honest. But whilst the food wasn’t brilliant, the venue and the staff’s attitudes of helpfulness and kindness stood out brightly. A mixed picture indeed-but a big THANKYOU for staff attitudes and approaches, and maybe a “keep trying” to the kitchen staff.

Shocking pub had a private room booked and when we got there , someone else was given it . ale is over priced £6 London price £4.50 else where … all Sunday lunches was cold and when complained they waited till we finished instead of re making them

Michelle on this Friday after-noon was so kind and welcoming it turnt that meal from a 10/10 to a 11/10 great staff great food!

Service was good but very slow took 30 to 40 minutes before food arrived by the time it was served all of it was cold even the 3 currys that where ordered mentioned it to server had to wait another 20 mins for it to be reheated when it arrived at table still cold had a crumble as a pudding it was too hot to eat only the currys where refunded the bill still came to 120 pound eat at McDonald's next time it has cheaper cold food not impressed only got a sorry fr waitress not from manager

A lovely location for enjoying the riverside views of local birds, especially in Summer. Food was good and there was a good selection of ales on tap. On the day I ate there, I found there was slow service, perhaps due to there not being enough staff.

We had a really lovely meal experience at the Fish and Eels. Relaxed atmosphere and the tables are very well spaced. The food was excellent and plenty of it. It is well-priced and we were very well looked after. Veronica served us and provided us with excellent service. A very enjoyable experience. Highly recommended.

Such a disappointment tonight my boys were looking forward to going to eat and we left early It’s far to dark in the restaurant Waitress was ok no faults with here Have some olives they had gone soft My boys had a share platter they seemed ok Pate was nice Mains Wife and son had fish cakes which tastes of nothing , the sauce with them tasted awful and had a skin on top like it had been sitting for a long time My other son had fish bites they were ok but again the beans looked like they had been reheated 5 times and were just mush I had steak which was not seared and again hardly had any flavour to it , I am no chef , I have eaten here before and the food has been ok , sad to say I will not be going back , for the amount of money the food is,the quality does not match , Shame

Veronica was excellent with her attention to our large family group, food was delicious and everything was brilliant and made a great night for us all.

We went for a bite on one of their busiest day. We were pleased to be quickly seated on arrival (after being gently reminded to enter our car registration at the bar for free parking, which was a nice touch). It was a hot day and the terrace was busy. There was still some seating space indoor. The outdoor space is located by the river and provides a nice and relaxed backdrop to afternoon drinks with family and our friends. The indoor restaurant is nicely laid out with light throughout the room. The menu has a nice variety of starters, mains and deserts with the usual Sunday roast choice. The desert choices are fun too. We went for the fish main on a bed of potatoes, with a side of greens. The other dish was a chicken forestière with skin on chips. For dessert we both went for the trio of desserts, including a chocolate pudding with a gooey centre on top of which there was a scoop of honeycomb ice-cream, a lemon sort of mini cheesecake and a small creme brûlé. All of which were decent sized portions. Let's just say we were not hungry by the end of our dinner! The only reason why I gave 4/5 stars for the food is because the presentation was a bit simple but that's me being picky! Definitely a place we will attend again in future! Great pub!
