Three of us arrived early and planned to have a coffee before our friends arrived. Zoë in the restaurant could not have been more helpful in putting tables together and even changed a chair for my mother who is 93 years old. All six of us had lunch which was easily ordered and arrived within 20 minutes. The restaurant and centre was spotless.

Food is OK. Prices about what one might expect. However, the drawback is that this establishment refuses to accept what is legal tender in the UK. If, like me, you believe that the continuation of cash as a medium of exchange is essential for society, keep that in mind.

Came to a children’s event here with four friends, eight children between us. Ate in Woody’s after the event hoping the kids could play in the soft play. To be told it’s closed (at prime time 11.30-2pm) because they don’t want children getting over excited - then don’t have a soft play? Having to tell kids they can’t play when it’s in front of them is cruel. The manager is so rude and has no customer service skills. Came over to our table attacking us, saying our kids were noisy and that other kids in the restaurant weren’t (bearing in mind ours were aged between 2-5 & we had just finished an event there) the other kids sitting quietly were older & less of them. She clearly doesn’t have kids. Don’t hold a child’s event and have soft play if you don’t want children to be there and being normal children! Food was average but over priced and just feels like they happy to take your money but then don’t want to entertain children. The Manager needs to go on a customer service course, she tried to mum shame us all & had no clue how to speak to people. Patronising and abrasive. Will not be returning.

Food used to be ok but has definitely gone downhill. Had what was supposed to be a tuna melt sandwich, isn’t there supposed be mayonnaise mixed with the tuna? and perhaps shouldn’t the cheese in the sandwich be melted? Used to be a lovely little place for lunch with little ones but after our recent visits I’ve found it disappointing. Limited opening hours of softplay area (I’m unsure of the point of having it there if it’s closed most of the time - trying to explain to an 18 month old that they cannot play was not good!) Food is now also quite overpriced.

Unfortunately this garden centre is far too noisy in the cafe, with endless kids and now they have on a regular basis, what I can only describe as a pre school activity centre with magicians and bubble men! It’s making people turn away from having a nice breakfast or a coffee and I’ve literally been there in the morning when I have seen people leave before ordering, presumably to go else where. I have approached staff who are quite frankly powerless to do anything about this. The management what to decide exactly what it is or who they want to attract in the cafe. Kids or adults! Cos you can’t have both at once. I know these activities start at 10am, they are supposed to be an hour long, but they often over run. It’s obviously a money orientated racket, which they told me was for the mental health and well being of the local community! If you want peace and quiet, use another garden centre.

I went here today with my little boy and quite frankly I use to go here a couple of times a month but todays was the last. The majority of staff don’t seem to really want to be there. I ordered a sausage sandwich which I think had 2 sausages in the whole sandwich, 2 cakes and a kids meal. Little one wanted a ham a cheese sandwich in his kids meal. (Baring in mind he only gets half a sandwich anyway), I was told I’d have to pay an extra £2 for a slice of cheese as it was extra. So after paying a huge £22 for very little you now want an extra £2 for a slice of cheese in a half sandwich. This use to be a friendly welcoming cafe. Now it’s just like everywhere else. Overpriced with small portions. I expect to pay when I go out. But with how people are struggling with finances today, places like this will go under with due to there selfish overpriced ways !!!

Went for a family lunch. Food is basic. My jacket potato with cheese and beans was lukewarm. Other members had ham, egg and chips (eggs underdone) and a ploughman's. Service was extremely slow even though we went at a not too busy time. Part of this was due to lack of staff, but also some customers spend time waiting chatting and then don't know what they want when they get to order. Tables are cleaned well and there is a system to show which tables have been sanitised.

This is the cafe in Thurrock Garden Centre and is now a large eating place. The garden centre is well visited due to the range of items inside and outside. It is particularly popular on Tuesday with over 60s which is discount day! Whenever I meet friends for lunch Woody's is always busy usually with older people and young mums with toddlers using the soft play area. Since you need to queue to order food and drinks there can be a wait to be served. Your hot food order will be delivered to your table once cooked. I have always found the food to be well cooked and delicious. Due to it being busy and the large hard surfaces it can be quite noisy. The food is light bites/simple hot food.

Away from the hubbub of Lakeside this is a great place to browse the plants or the Christmas gifts. The layout is spacious and the shop was busy but did not feel frantic or rushed. The menu had a wide selection of food and the cake selection was extremely difficult because it offered such a vast choice! The staff were friendly and I noticed them offering to help carry trays to tables when the customer appeared frail. The shop also had a book, card, kitchenware and toiletry department with unusual items for sale. If you have younger children there was a soft play session as well as a Santa complete with animals if you chose to visit him. During school times the centre was a relaxing place to spend the day. If you took school aged children they may need to have a budget set and a talk about not touching as there were quite a few delicate items around the store.

He was a good Santa and we got a present as well. The visit was somewhat spoiled by the ridiculous prices in Woody’s canteen. £2 for a bottle of water, £2.35 for a bottle of Sprite, £1 for a small packet of crisps. The section with the Xmas tree was closed so we couldn’t take a crying toddler to see the lights. It’s not expensive it’s ridiculously expensive. A look at the food menu is even worse ! I came here with my family for lunch as my family live in nearby Brentwood and this is my mum's favourite restaurant. It is a lovely bright restaurant with lots of seating. I had ham, egg and chips along with my husband as we used one of Woody's own discount vouchers from their newsletter. It was a good meal. My mother came along and there was lots of room for her wheelchair to be put next to a table. She was very disappointed that they no longer put out small chunks of fresh French Stick on a table for customers to collect their own bread. That was always the highlight of my mum's regular visits to Woody's. Now you have to ask for bread and you are offered a tiny bread roll. My mum wanted brown, but there were no brown rolls to be had. So that was one negative thing, and another was that the toilets were very messy. I suppose the staff are too busy with serving meals to have time for someone to check how clean the toilets are. All-in-all, it was a nice visit, to a lovely restaurant with delicious food. We will return the next time my husband and I are visiting England.

Hungry, we opted for toasted paninis and a prawn salad. The toasted paninis, brie and tomato, were a bit on the under toasted, doughy side and served with a few leaves and crisps. Not good value at over £6 each. The prawn salad was better value - a decent scoop of prawns in cocktail sauce, a scoop of coleslaw and salad. With a pot of tea for one (it really does hold one cup) and 2 soft drinks we paid £30. Though very clean and very family friendly, this was, overall, a disappointing dining experience.

I'm really surprised there aren't more reviews on here for Woody's. Not living locally, we wanted somewhere easy to drive to to take my disabled Nan for lunch. Car parking was easy, and there are even wheel chairs available to use. All in all, access was very easy.Woody's was brilliant. It's huge, so lots of room to meet friends or to find a quieter corner. For mums meeting with the kids, there is a children's play area.I couldn't believe the portion size for the price we paid. We had sandwiches and jacket potatoes, they were very generous sizes. In fact, my Nan said she should have shared her jacket potato it was so large. She had prawn mayo, and it was overflowing with prawns. Really friendly staff, great food and even WIFI, what's not to like about this place! Will definitely visit again.

Located conveniently in Thurrock Garden Centre I pop into this restaurant on many a weekend for breakfast. It's been recently renovated and looks large, very clean and modern. The whopper breakfast is particularly good value and serves ample portions for the price paid. Their cream teas are also good for an afternoon snack. The staff are always friendly and you are served in an efficient time & manner.

This restaurant located at Thurrock Garden Centre has been totally refurbished and expanded from their previous offering and it has a fantastic new clean, bright and modern look. I frequent the place on many occasion for their whopper breakfast which has an adequate sized portion of the traditional elements and tastes great! You can opt to go slightly cheaper and choose a fixed amount of items. The staff inside are always friendly and welcoming and keep the tables impeccably clean at all times. There is also a great variety of home cooked cakes and pastries.

Leavers of Woodside County Primary School 1986-1989 met yesterday for a delicious and plentiful reunion buffet in North Stifford. Shout out to Bobby and staff at the pub for making our event run so smoothly…nothing was too much for them and everyone enjoyed their drinks and the wide range of foods: Crispy Prawns Nachos (V) Onion Rings with BBQ Sauce (V) BBQ-Glazed Chicken Wings Garlic Bread (V) Beer-Battered Salt and Pepper Mushrooms* with Blue Cheese Sauce (V) Salt and Chilli Chicken Fries with Spicy Salsa Sauce Mozzarella and Jalapeño Sticks* with Sweet Chilli Sauce (V) Vegetable Samosas with Mango Chutney (VE) Cheese and Tomato Wrap (V) BLT Wrap Southern-Fried Chicken Wrap They set up the area with our buffet so beautifully and I would recommend it as an ideal place for a get-together.
