Slow service, awful food, fighting dogs, obnoxious drinkers swearing loudly. We arrived late afternoon following a long day of travel and this was next to our hotel. What a mistake!

Ate here with my husband after a long day's walking. We weren't disappointed. The meal was substantial and well cooked and the staff were very friendly.

Bang average at best with a way below average bar person/lady/manager…who cares what they were. They worked there for sure and she seemed to think herself pretty important. Just nasty and rude and only seemed to come alive when she was outside the front door having cigarettes with all the locals on their mobility scooters. The locals all seemed very friendly I might add. Food was ok, wine was rank. Service was appalling except for the waitress who bought our food. She actually didn’t seem to hate us for no reason which was a contrast to our welcome. She’s wasted in a place that seems to be want to close its doors to outsiders and I encourage her leave although I’d imagine she’s just doing it short term on her way to something better.

We were a group of 6 who spent the day on the Litte Ouse kayaking over from Thetford. We were in need of a big feed! Quite an unassuming pub from the outside and the menu covers your standard pub food classics with a burger and grill section. All 6 meals were really tasty and fairly priced. I had the Ram ultimate burger which was awesome and filling. Some had the fish and chips, the size of the the battered fish was huge! My partner had the steak and ale pie which had bags of flavour. The waitress was really helpful and attentive and nothing was too much trouble. The pub also had a great selection of sauces and condiments on offer which was a nice touch. Given how local we live we will definitely return.

Booked this as a one night stay as we were watching a band in Thetford forest. Checked in, 2 hours later checked out. First time in 44 years of life I’ve ever checked out of anywhere. Room dirty, shower sprayed water all over the bathroom other than in the shower. It was a hot day, unfortunately the sash window was broken so we had to prop it open with a bottle of water. Felt like a really low end hostel at best. Food wasn’t great, had the cheese sandwich / chips as a snack, not great. The young girl behind the bar however very apologetic for the experience and refunded the room without a question and we left.

We were staying at the Bridge Hotel and the pub was next door. It is typical pub grub and the servings were very generous in fact probably too big as neither of us could eat everything which meant that there was waste. But very friendly service.

Staying overnight for a concert in the forest. We opted for the Sunday roast which was probably the best we have had in a pub at a very reasonable price. We would recommend The Ram for great food and relaxed atmosphere .

This is not a posh establishment its a simple humble pub offering good holesome pub grub at a fair price. All food is cooked to order and does take some time but dont be put off the portions are huge and well cooked, we can recommend the Hunters Chicken and Liver and Bacon. On previous visits the Ribs were simply great well cooked and flavoursim. There is usually a selection of Real Ales on offer but on our visit they only had Wainwrights which was lovely and fresh and complimented the food great.

Visited for a Sunday roast with family visiting us, so disappointed in the food. We waited 45 mins for food, the only heating was in the main bar, where a fire was burning. So when the food came the roast potatoes were small pieces and just 2 bits to each adult plate, but they were so burnt, they were black and unedible, granddaughter was bouncing hers on the plate and it was clinking like a stone, most of us had reasonable veg that could be eaten but 1 adult had rock solid undercooked veg! 4 of the adults had chicken. Which surprisingly was not roast chicken, but chargrilled and had a little odd taste, within a hour all 4 of those had upset tummies. We had previously only gone to The Ram Once before for a roast and it was perfect, not value for money at all. Have to add the drink selection and prices were good, Ladies loo was clean, but very cold, clean is important, just don’t sit in there long

Good value for money. Would have been nice if the food was a little warmer when served. Would recommend and visit again in the future.

Had a really nice evening again at the restaurant. Our meals were well cooked and piping hot. Staff, as per, lovely. Be back soon.

Been to this pub a number of times, and always had great service. Regularly in the area for evening bike rides, and a ride is always improved if followed by a beer. Good selection of ales, and all the standards. Bar start are always friendly.

This is our third visit to the Ram. Three of us really enjoyed our well cooked, hot meals. We are local to the Ram so it is a pleasure to have a pub with a restaurant that offers good food, wine and lovely staff on our doorstep. We will continue to visit the Ram and recommend highly.

We came here as we are staying at center parcs and wanted somewhere different to eat. Well we where recommended this place by a lady in Aldi nearby. I ordered the scampi and 3 other meals for members of the family. Well I wanted some tartare sauce and there where packets on the table. I started to notice something not tasting right and checked the date of the sauce to find out the sealed packets where dated 2020. We are now in May 2022 . We complained to the waitress and she said sorry and took them away. We then found 3 others out of date in 2021 and when we checked the table behind again the tartare sauce was dated 2020. One of my party has a hard time eating out in different places and therefore left her meal. I demanded a refund for the meal and in fairness was given this. If simple things like checking the date of the sealed condiments cannot be undertaken how many other things are not quite right with the food in this place. We for one where disgusted and couldn't wait to leave .

Stayed in the hotel for one night, arrived late in the day after a day out, but staff were amazing, very welcoming and friendly. Showed us to our room. Our room was amazing too, clean tidy, smelt nice and clean, would loved to have spent more time in the room to appreciate it. Would definitely stay again. Didn't use the bar or restaurant but when we arrived there it all looked nice and seemed to be well stocked. Well done to all the staff that work there keep up the good work :)

We stopped en route for North Norfolk For lunch….. we had two plates of excellent fish and chips , piping hot and served very quickly. It was a very cold day and it was a bit chilly in the pub but we enjoyed a roaring wood stove. This is a friendly local pub and the lady behind the bar was very good and helpful. We will certainly drop in again on our next Norfolk trip.

DO NOT BOOK WITH THEM. Cancelled my booking of 3 rooms. 4 hours before 3pm. They Couldn’t care less and manger never ringed me back after many attempts. Very angry customer left with no hotel room, for the night

went for dinner...2 people. very basic bar menu. My friend had a passable carbonara, I chose the mini ram burger.. I think they forgot about us as the burger was way overcooked and was as tuff as old boots but the chips had been rushed...

I stayed at The Ram for 1 night , the room I stayed in was spacious, clean and well presented. The staff are polite, respectful and extremely helpful. I will be staying here for my next visit.

Today I had the Roast Lamb which was tender ,served with large roast potatoes large delicious parsnips and vegetables. Additionally; a large Yorkshire Pudding and gravy. The food was lovely, and the Staff were friendly and helpful.

Not local so decided to give this a try for evening meal. Ordered a Burger and a Tuna Jacket. Only one other couple waiting to eat. After 25 minutes they got their food but had forgotten the peas. I asked if ours was coming... young girl went to find out and then said “literally 5 minutes”. After another 7 or 8 minutes we left the drinks money on the table and left . What a nonsense .

Friendly service but poor food. Smoked Haddock -lukewarm and dry, partner had lasagne which was again on the cool side Not expensive but not worth going again

Took a trip to see my parents who live in Brandon then on to my sister who also lives in Brandon and it was decided that we would go out and have a late lunch.The Ram was a real traditional pub with low beams packed with local clientele.The restaurant was warm and inviting and sold very traditional pub food our party of four ordered two Ram burgers one smoke haddock on mashed potatoes and a steak and ale pie.The staff were very attentive very polite and pleasant to talk to.The food came in a respectable time and the portions were very much on the large side,good quality nicely seasoned and hot.Could not fit a pudding in but next time I will try.Would highly recommend for a tipical pub lunch.

Been here before, but on this visit the stench of chip fat was so bad that my clothes were still smelling of it the following morning. And it seems that that the later you go in, the more likely you are to bump into the 'residents' of the caravan park behind. Maybe it's an attempt at social housing? But it doesn't work. A pikey is a pikey, wherever you put one...or in this case a pirate? Harhar!. It spoils what could be a good pub. Nice beer though! I'll go elsewhere next time.

This pub looks nothing special but the food was excellnt - we had fish and chips, lambs liver and bacon with mash and sandwiches. The staff are willing, friendly and welcoming. Not expensive

The food was amazing! This was our first visit as we live some distance away and we where just passing. Staff very friendly nice restaurant area and we will certainly be coming back again when revisiting .

We were rather surprised when we went in to the The Ram as the entrance to the restaurant was via the bar, which was very much like the public bars used to be many years ago. However, being very tired after a very long and exhausting day, we continued into the restaurant, where we were greeted in a very friendly manner.The menu was huge and the prices were very reasonable. Having made our choices, one of which was from the Specials Board on the wall, we waited for our meal. When it arrived, which was not very long we were flabbergasted at the size of the meals, they were absolutely enormous. The plates were very large and the food filled them, in fact the Home Made Cornish Pasty actually overhung the plate. The food was beautifully hot and extremely tasty but unfortunately we could not do it the justice that it deserved as there was just too much of it.We have never been to that area before but if we were to go back in the future we would not hesitate to eat there again but would definitely ask for smaller portions as we hate food waste.

Great place - warm, welcoming, friendly. Didn't stay in the hotel, but went to eat most nights after work for 2 weeks whilst staying in Brandon. Staff remembered my favourite drink after the first evening and brought it to my table, food was always good and all the staff very friendly. Will definitely visit again if I'm in the area.

This Bar is amazing the beer is second to none and they are in the Good Beer Guide for a reason. There is a big garden area for the kids to run around and a caravan/camping park. The food is home made and incredible value for money. The hotel rooms are quite unique (as it is a listed building) and spotless. How the owners fit so much into this hotel bar is just incredible. Well done to all and keep up the great work

I booked in may for a three night stay in September and payed a £50.00 deposit, then I had to cancel in early June due to unforeseen circumstances. I keep phoning up to speak to the manager about getting my refund but he is never there and I keep being told he will call me back but he never does, so it looks like I'm never going to get my deposit back.

There’s a lovely outdoor area which can be accessed at the right hand side of the building or through the bar. Friendly staff and locals.

Took my mum for lunch today mum is gluten free. Which they cater for but not got Yorkshire pudd GF yet. The beef was cut too thick mum couldn’t cut it. I had chicken which was a grilled Breast whole. I tried to cut it and it came off the plate onto my white dress and onto the floor. Thought it was very anemic for a roast. Certainly won’t return. Bit outdated all over but looks nice from outside.

Great british pub with a friendly lively staff .. a pint of Carlsberg Danish Beer goes nicely with their Cheesy Garlic Bread. Lots tables available inside and outside seating. Main meal ordered their tuna sandwich came with tortilla chips and tomato, cucumber, lettuce. No waiting at 3pm Thursday for a table ! Cheers :-)

We popped into the Ram for a quick drink in the sunshine before dinner, and it soon turned to another. Having dogs, it’s important to find somewhere that at least tolerates them, and the Ram found their dog bowl especially for us. Their garden is extensive and the benches out the front have useful umbrellas for shade. Bar meals looked good, and well definitely try them next time.

Food was absolutely disgusting, Feed my animals with better than what we were presented with tonight.

To me this is a classic English Pub. Proper good food at sensible prices. Staff who seam to be happy in their work and a varied clientelle.

I came here for a meal as was staying in the hotel next door. Food was pretty good, plenty of it, and very reasonably priced. Good beer too. So much so, I stayed and watched the football and had a few more.

We were staying in Brandon for a couple of days and popped in for an evening meal. Upon entering, there was an overpowering smell of stale beer, loud country music and someone sitting at the bar singing very loudly so we looked around and then left. I think that the best way to describe it is a "typical spit and sawdust pub" and sorry but after a very, very long drive, not at all what we wanted. We did speak to some guests at our hotel

Stopped off here on the way home from a week away. Was still serving food at 3pm on a Bank Holiday Monday - and what brilliant food it was! All four of us were very impressed and would definitely recommend the place. Nice beer too. Friendly place, well worth a visit. Will definitely pop in again if passing through this way.

My girlfriend and i stayed next door for my birthday weekend, and we came in here for a meal on the Friday night, food was excellent, i had the Ram burger, but it beat me, as my eyes were bigger than my belly, and the staff very friendly, they also had a jukebox, not been to a pub in years and been able to select your own music, £1 for 5 songs.. we had a few rounds after dinner, and a really great night, shame for the landlord that it wasn't busier, but this was out of the ordinary we heard, and it seems such a really lovely place, we will hopefully return one day in the summer

My friends came from out of town to visit me so we went to The Ram for Sunday lunch (we all had the roast) The food was brilliant, and the staff went above and beyond to do everything they could to make our visit enjoyable. The dining area was clean. Honestly couldn't fault the place at all. Will definitely be back!

Food mediocre,Prawn cocktail was horrible some prawns edible the rest chewy,I had coronation chicken,obviously the chef had no idea how to cook and assemble it,my husbands scampi were like bullets they were so over cooked,our friend fish was undercooked,never go there again.

The Ram is great. Kid and dog friendly, always has 5 very well kept real ales. Great homemade food, very reasonably priced. Hotel rooms have all been upgraded to a very high standard. A lovely inviting real fire, and a HUGE beer garden. Also they have some CAMRA pub of the month. There is also a camping and caravanning field, all with ELU and water hookup

I stayed next door at the Bridge Hotel but called in here after work. As the review title says - the beer was good, the food was good and there was a log fire roaring away. What’s not to like? 🙂

Moved to the Brandon in June, had a meal and few drinks and had a lovely chilled time in the Ram on our first night in the area.

My wife and I popped into The Ram for food as it was recommended by a local.

Very welcoming staff....great choice of beers etc...food gorgeous and generous portions and great value....Ram burger was homemade and gorgeous...the steak and ale pie was tender and flaboursome...a must visit venue for a good meal ....

Stayed on the basic campsite in our motorhome for one night. Definitely no frills and the shower wasn't to be desired. Shower before you go. But it suited for the one night.Very friendly landlady. Six of us had dinner there with a variety of meals and they were outstanding. Very large home cooked meals and very reasonably priced. Highly recommend eating there.would stay again.

Last night we had a leaving party in the function room of the Ram in which we had a great time.

Visited with my Wife and Daughter recently. We had no plans eat there, Just passing by. There is a Menu to suit manytastes. The 5 Stars represent, 'Value for Money' 'Meal Size' 'Meal Quality', all delivered to the table by 'Polite Friendly Staff'.

The Ram had a very bad press in the past, but has now changed for the better. Probably the best choice of ales in Brandon. The food is comfortably above standard 'pub grub'. Bar staff friendly and helpful. Unable to comment on accommodation as I haven't used that facility. It is essentially a 'local' in character, and I think not really a family inn.

Fantastic weekend, great atmosphere, lovely food, excellent friendly staff, lovely comfy and clean room. Will definitely be returning.

Had a lovely late breakfast nice tidy premises cold beer kind staff. Dropped in on the spur of the moment. Lovely lady looked after us. All good.

Staying in Brandon for 1 night with work. Looking for a quiet drink after a long drink. The Ram seemed to be full of locals...mostly older but a few younger people. Nice atmosphere and friendly. Even better they had a choice of Gluten free beer.

Popped in here for a beer while waiting for family to arrive in the hotel opposite. We all ended up here for some time (9 adults, 2 children & 3 dogs). A good afternoon with the family in the beer garden (made better by the hot sunny day). drinks flowed, food was eaten , dogs, kids & adults (although not all of us) ran around. the beer was good as was the food and reasonably priced. Staff and locals were friendly. All in all a very pleasant way to spend a Saturday afternoon

Brought a client for dinner here recently . Service was very good and staff nice but it's a bar and people kept playing loud music . Not ideal if you want to impress ! Otherwise ok

We were moored up at Brandon lock and took a stroll along the grassy path to The Ram Inn - the nearest eatery. Huge choice on the menu, friendly service behind the bar and our son wanted to sit outside (on a slightly nippy evening) the staff were more than happy to bring the food out to the only weirdos sitting in the garden!! The food was presented beautifully and I was envious that I hadn’t ordered the ‘Ram Burger’ when I saw my husband’s supper arrive. My gammon was delicious though.

Had lunch here and the food was Lovley and fresh and staff all very friendly.Good value for money will visit again

attended a wedding reception in the function hall, no bar so had to use main pub bar locals seemed friendly enough , live football on the box. The bar lady was very efficient and remembered your drinks orders ,

Just had my birthday party with a friend at the Ram and what a fabulous night! Kath couldn't do enough to make us happy. The rooms were beautiful. They've done so much work. The function room is still basic, but it did the job, the lounge with comfy and new sofa seating was amazing and we had the best night at a great price. The catering was way above expectations and everyone has commented on how good the atmosphere was, what a great time they had and what a fabulous job Donna did on the food. Thank you. Couldn't have asked for more.

This was the best food we have had in the U.K. thus far, if you value food being delivered to the table at the same time, all at the same temperature, and well-seasoned, quickly.

It was OK. Came here for a coke. Saw some drunk people. Didn't try the food. The pub gave off 'Slaughtered Lamb' vibes, so I made sure i stuck to the roads and thankfully I wasn't attacked by any werewolves. Would I come here again? Not on my own, and only if I had to.

Would like to say a big thank you to Andy and Kath and all the staff for making me feel so welcome over the last 9 days great food the mixed grill is a must try for a very hungry person and steak and ale pie is another must try great selection of food staff are all very friendly would defiantly return and thanks again for letting me stay and for wavering the charges for a very good cause thanks again

I visited this pub whilst viewing my new house ,we had a great meal ,since then I've been here a few times and have never felt so comfortable and welcome especially maxine and Kathy who made me feel at ease ,the pub also has a nice garden at the back where you can take the dogs, also add dogs are welcome in the bar too, since I've moved here I've had many meals here and enjoyed all of them again with the friendly atmosphere, I can't praise this place enough and thank you maxine and Kathy for making me so welcome and my dog,I highly recommended a visitor two here my favourite is their breakfast and steak hoagies

Visited with friends for a birthday lunch. Relaxed atmosphere and friendly barmaid. Dog friendly aswell. I had the hunters chicken. Big portions and very filling! Food well presented. Even let us swap ingredients from the menu! Would definitely eat here again.

Very friendly and the eggs, ham chips and peas! Order this when you get here. Within walking distance of Brandon train station but it is so relaxing you'll not want to leave

Stopped off for a quick bite Noticed the sign outside saying friendly pub, it was the most unwelcoming pub I have ever been in but as there was no one eating at the time thought we'd eat and go,35 mins later our food arrived chicken and chips The pub smelt of smoke due to the door being open and smokers just sitting right outside the door Would never use again if ever passing by

Stayed here for one night and was the worse place I have ever stayed.. we was given the key to the room and pointed in one direction NOT SHOWN to the room.. while looking for the room the corridor was in darkness then I tripped over a step!! Eventually we found the room we was in the attic, the room was cold there was a banging squeaking sign outside the window which kept us awake all night, we got up early as we couldn't sleep and had to put my hair dryer on to get warm, I got in the shower and as I got out my partner got in then the water cut off so he couldn't get a shower, we was ringing down stairs to talk to someone no answer so went down stairs but no one around so at this point we decided to pack our things and go book into somewhere else,You know your not in for a good when on arrival the toilet was splattered. Phoned Day after to put in complaint (spoke to Cath) was told owner would get back to us but now 6weeks later given up on the wait Don't think they care do you!!!

Went early afternoon for a sandwiches and drinks, which were excellent. Then due to unexpected closure of restaurant where we had intended to dine, we returned for dinner. This is a typical village pub the local for many of nearby residents. The menu was good , the service superb and the food of a very good quality. The staff and the local customers were friendly and welcoming.Visits thoroughly enjoyed.

Staying at the ram couldn't ask for more, food is excellent, rooms are clean tidy comfortable and very nicely done out and the staff couldn't be more helpful and friendly, also the local brewery' makes a great pint

We came in after a long day at a local race track and was greeted with friendly, knowledgeable staff. Upon ordering dinner, we were greeted with great tasting fresh food. If in the local area again, will come back.

I was very surprised at just how good this was. I ordered hunters chicken and it was as just amazing, great choices on the menu, just what you would expect from an old English pub. Reasonably priced and good choices of beer. We always camp in the garden here but have not eaten in the pub before, do this was a lovely surprise. No hesitation in recommending this for a good meal.

We stayed next door and popped in for a quick couple of drinks, the young lad who served us was very friendly and chatty, shame we were only around for the weekend, would probably have spent more time there.
