An excellent town centre pub Everyone from the young lady that brought the condiments thru to Mr & Mrs Landlord are friendly, polite and most of all made us very welcome. Would highly recommend.

Family was visiting from Brazil and we ended up at The Plough to deal with our thirst! ;) Great local pub, nice atmosphere! The staff was friendly and lovely! I would definitely come back. Recommended!

Alright, a bloke on his own in his 50’s these days doesn’t get the best service from younger folk, but the assertive arrogance of the manager and her underling made this unpleasant. There are many pubs around here much more worthy of your hard earned cash. Shame because it looks like an old fashioned boozer from the outside.

We visited here early on Friday evening for a drink before dinner. It seemed to be a popular pub for an after work drink and there was a good atmosphere. We enjoyed two small bottles of prosecco which cost just under £7 each. The staff were pleasant, it was a really nice pub.

Really enjoyed the delicious all day veggie breakfast, cooked and presented well. Staff were friendly and efficient, the landlord extremely nice. A lovely, comfortable pub and I shall return.

Good bolt hole within city centre. Alcohol: Heineken on tap so my brother will be happy. Plenty of other lagers to choose from including Fosters.which is disappearing in London. Good range of spirits although lemonade mixer could be fizzier. Food: classic pub fare on menu including all day breakfast & scampi. Focus on burgers. My friend, K, would approve. Could only stop for chips due to time. Standard chips, Good sized portion with a range of condiments. Important info: sport on TV, efficient bar staff, effective seating layout. Fun fact: I was sitting opposite 4 Giovanni Pernice fans dressed as cowboys. If Giovanni fans are here, that’s an extra thumbs up from me.

We were a group of 24 people, most of whom were Deaf. The food was great and hot, with everyone enjoying their meal. Our servers were brilliant, very attentive. We will visit again.

Always love coming to this pub when popping over to Ipswich! We came here for a bite to eat and the food was amazing as always. We then popped back in the following day and spent most of the afternoon watching the football and catching up with family. Greeted with a warm and loving conversation from Paul, Michelle and Andrea - never disappointed coming home to the Plough🫶🏼🫶🏼

Had an absolutely brilliant Christmas meal with friends at the Plough in Ipswich in December. The table was presented with hats and crackers, the staff were happy and attentive, the food was great, as were the drinks. Thank you!

Booking for colleagues 18th birthday. After originally booking Yates and having them shut suddenly. The plough stepped in as a sister company and took over the booking for us. The phone call from a staff member making sure they could do everything possible to make this night special. Service on the evening was brilliant, with happy, fun, staff that nothing was too much trouble. Thank you to them for their excellent customer service.

Best Sunday roasts ever! My go-to for 20+ years and has always been good quality food. The staff (and other patrons) are friendly and welcoming. They've had a recent menu change, which includes a new Sunday roast selection. I have to write this review to say they've really upped their game in the kitchen - their roasts are something special now, not just average pub-grub any more. Prices behind the bar are still very reasonable.

Popped in on a Sunday after football. Not massively busy and served quickly. Beer selection pretty good - lots of different taps on. Football on the tellys too and no volume - so made a good atmosphere to drink and chat. Would come back!

7 seasons we've been coming here before EVERY home game. Today we get turned away as they changed their rules 'start of the season' not true as we came in every home game. Nice way to treat regular football day customers.

Decided to pop in whilst in the area for Christmas shopping, having never been before I didn't really know what to expect. The staff are amazingly helpful and kind, the premises are clean and the disabled facilities are great (lots of ramps to get all around and an easily accessed toilet).Now for the food - so reasonable, so much so I was expecting tiny portions...boy was I wrong! I couldn't finish mine (fish platter) as it's so big. My son just about managed to finish his (a double burger).The quality is good, service time excellent and all served with a smile and politeness.We will be back again and hopefully next time we will be able to fit in one of the desserts that too look very nice indeed.

I often go to the Plough for a mixed grill with peppercorn sauce rinsed down with a point of Strongbow dark fruit £14.58It is cooked very well and a decent size meal.I tend to wait until after 3pm on home match days as it gets very busy with home supporters.Just find a table, take table number to bar order your meal, then enjoy.They have a wide variety of mains and desserts to choose from

Been visiting the Plough for past 4/5 years, never had a bad meal but tonight's meal surpassed previous visits. We were served by a lovely man called Mick from start to finish, nothing was too much trouble. The food was absolutely perfect in every way, everything we asked for was done. Would definitely recommend this to anyone visiting Ipswich and hope to return before returning home to Ireland

I’ve been to the Plough a couple times in the past few weeks. On my first visit, a lady called Andrea ignored me and hid behind a pillar at the bar to chat with a customer who had already been served. She eventually came back and continued to ignore me for a few minutes before serving. On the second visit I approached the bar to make the order for my group. A younger girl with dyed black hair looked at me and looked away. She proceeded to load a couple handfuls of glasses onto the shelves before rudely asking me ‘what do you want?’ I ignored her remark and ordered the food and drinks. When the deserts arrived, the young girl brought two dirty spoons, one still had chocolate sauce on the back. I looked in the dumbwaiter for replacements. The same girl noticed me searching, appeared to be watching for a while and walked off; leading me to believe that she knew the spoons were dirty. The balled man behind the bar (don’t know his name but I’ve noticed him throughout my visits as a true asset to your pub) took the spoons from me when I explained the situation. The food itself was standard pub food, nothing spectacular, but nothing of poor quality either. The staff at this pub are the make or break of your visit. Really disappointed in this pub, ordered food for 2 & both plates were atrocious. My steak could have trotted off my plate (should have been medium to well done). The fish in the Chip shop Platter was the size of a Goldfish....seriously! I have an inkling that the staff in the kitchen have no or very little skills that is needed to fulfil a menu, minimum wage you get monkeys!! Did complain about my steak being extremely raw but absolutely nothing. So if you are thinking of using this pub, think again & go elsewhere. Also, I put a review on their Facebook page, it's vetted, and no bad reviews....that's surprising!! But look at the dates, there's a few weeks between the good reviews, they are taking the bad reviews off....

Nicely located next to the bus station, this pub is what I call a proper pub. Nice food to match a decent range of beers. Many items of food served on a wooden board. Not so keen on that. Toilets could do with a refurbishment. But quick friendly service and reasonably priced drinks.

Just went into the Plough for some lunch. My girlfriend goes there quite often and appreciates how friendly the staff always are but on this occasion I was served by Andrea, who is meant to be management. She had some of the worst customer service skills I have ever seen. A guy before me asked for two pints of water and she got annoyed over that even though they'd ordered food in there previously.

I am really impressed by the courtesy of the staff. They always help me by carrying my drink to the table. They also know that I love their Halumi and chips with mushy peas instead of fish and chips with mushy peas. The sports televisions are always in operation and I love cricket...they went and put the Channel on for me (it was tennis season) so that I could sit and watch it comfortably. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Plough always provides decent food at reasonable cost. One of the few places to do curly fries in Ipswich

I've been here many times before, especially for sports events where the pub comes into its own. There are multiple screens throughout the pub so is easy to get a good view (as long as you can grab a table!). Food is standard pub fare, with the 50 chicken wings being a personal favourite. Also do great pies here! Pricing is also relatively cheap for the standard of food you get. Staff are friendly and you aren't left waiting at the bar for a significant time, even at busy periods.

Friendly staff once you can find someone to serve you. Good selection of beers, including Adnams Ghost Ship. Sports TV including cricket. Menu indications deal each day of the week.

This was our first visit, we had booked a table in advance and arrived 25 mins early, after a short wait we were shown to a table where we decided what to eat and then ordered at the bar, being told that there would be a 30 min delay for our food which we accepted. The 30 mins came and went food was delivered to other tables, it was when 55 mins had passed that my wife caught one of the waitresses and asked what had happened to our food, we were told we should have had it 20 mins ago. After another 5 mins the food arrived but without any cutlery, gravy or condiment tray, the waitress saying she would fetch the gravy. Another 5 mins past and by this time we had had enough as the food was lukewarm and getting colder by the minute, so we saw the Manager who apologised and gave us our money back for the food without an explanation of what went wrong,and we left feeling very much let down.

Have been to this Pub numerous times. The selection of beers and drinks are still top notch. And the staff is likeable. The standard of the food however have tanken a significant drop. Used to be five star. The cleanliness could have been better.

Hi, I Visited the Plough, tonight for the first time, I havv never been to Ipswich before, I wanted to visit a “traditional Pub” I found it in the Plough, first class people who made me feel welcome, the best Mac & cheese starter( not on the menu) but if you ask really nicely they may do it, then a fantastic beef pie, all the best for some great Ghost ship ale result !!!!!

After walking around Ipswich for one hour without finding a place to eat we stopped off here because of the reviews. The pub itself is nice, great service but the food is hit and miss. We ordered two pies and one came out fine, but the other came out still frozen. Once I mentioned it to the staff they changed it and the second pie came out nice and hot, however I found it a little strange how one pie out of two could still be frozen, if cooked at the same time? I wouldn't return but as I mentioned it is ok if there is nowhere else to go.

Visited on a Thursday night. Tables at bit sticky and had to ask to be wiped down. Attracts odds and ends of Ipswich and some weird people in there. Drinks selection fairly good - lots of drinks and pretty cheap. Football also on lots of tellys and good views everywhere. Room for improvement

We popped in for lunch and as always were very impressed with everything. These guys and girls really do go above and beyond. This is our 4th visit to the Plough.

Super good value with friendly staff. The place is relatively clean and is great for eating and drinking. The sharing platters are great for lunch or dinner and the burgers are delicious too. I have been on multiple occasions and tried a few different things,and have never been disappointed. The menu is a little boring and the dessert menu is small but overall a good place to eat.

We went to the plough after a family meal and watched as 3 people were served before us. We commented about this among ourselves about how we had been overlooked. One of the bar staff heard us and became very defensive saying how they do not have eyes in the back of their head and refused to serve us when we tried to explain that 3 people had walked in and been served before us, (despite there being 4 of our group at the bar taking up a long stretch of it, so it wasn’t like we were tucked away in a corner). Being a Saturday night, it is undoubtedly busy and they did not have enough bar staff on to be able to serve everyone quickly but this does not excuse the extremely rude response that we got. This could have easily been resolved if the bar staff had said that she would make sure she served us next and acknowledged our frustration rather than making us feel like we had done something wrong.

I ordered the chicken coconut curry from here, unfortunately the dish that arrived was the vegetable curry.
