The Cricketers in Ipswich

Bit of a walk from the station other side of town centre. Building looks to date from 30s, very draughty from old windows , layout not great most of the space taken up by massive bar! Looking a bit uncared for but staff were pleasant enough and the food was hot and well prepared. Overall didn't find it very comfortable and didn't appear to be overly clean in appearance.

It's very good for what it is, a city centre Wetherspoons. The pub is big and has a traditional feel, it's not the best inside, but the food was good and at a great price, the staff were nice. Felt completely comfortable, and enjoyed the visit.

Another good value and tasty visit to a Wetherspoons. Korean Chicken, one with chips and one with coconut rice both with soft drink, £17 - bargain!

Not overly busy at 12:15. Efficient Bar and Table staff. I thoroughly enjoyed a steak lunch; the accompanying Theakston's Old Peculier was fantastic.

My mate and I went for the Large full English breakfast this morning and coffee ☕️ the service was very good Friendly staff the Breakfast was superb , comfortable seating speedy service and the refill drinks were a nice touch highly recommended we will definitely return there.

Do not go her for a meal of any type! i went today to meet family for a birthday meal and I only wanted a small brunch basically a small fry up and received on the plate a piece of bacon the size of a 50 pence piece , no lie!!! I woke up on my birthday to the news of a friend passing away and then i get treated to that garbage !!! never again will i buy food there ! The chef can not even cook a piece of 50 pence sized piece of bacon without drying it out !!! Rubbish !

With 5x family lunched at the Cricketers. My fish and chips was huge, scrummy and well served. Others enjoyed their meals apart from the burger which was described as poor. I would elaborate to say my cod was the best quality for many years. Well done Wethies.

Fast paced pub with a lot going for it. Speciality beers are as cheap as chips. Currently £2.36 a Pint. Thoroughly recommended.

Had large breakfast. Not the best I've ever had but certainly not the worst.....and for the price you pay it definitely sets you up for the day

Never been so disgusted in all my life. Called in for a quick drink after mising a bus. Asked for a malibu and lemonade with very little ice. after watching the barmaid fill the glass with ice I called her to ask tipp a load of the ice. She then proceeded to fill the glass with lemonade again I shouted whoa. After she put the drinks down on the bar she said now funking go away. Absolutely disgusting .kids have no respect. Spoke to the duty manager. And he said not much he could do about it. And said in her defence that she had had a busy night. Poor girl last time I drink in there.

Typical Wetherspoons. The Tuesday after a Bank Holiday will have some things unavailable.

A good idea , T.M. would be more flexibility in ordering breakfast -i.e. "build-your-own" breakfast from items already on the menu would seem to me to be a good idea (e.g. 2 poached eggs on BUTTERED toast, with added extras like tomatoes, bacon etc) On to the full rant:- As usual, lately, the place was so cold due to the air conditioning that I had to keep my jacket on. Toast was only toasted on one side, looked like it had been toasted one side, waved in the direction of the toaster on the other. For some reason the toast could not be ready-buttered, despite scrambled eggs on toast being supplied with ready-buttered toast! Staff "explanation" was that eggs on toast was not vegan. (Er, neither is the butter supplied with toast and jam/marmalade, so why wasn't I asked if I wanted vegan?) N.B. Tim Martin: Sort out training of ALL shift managers on sensible air control settings. (22C outside, 16C inside is NOT what I consider reasonable.)

Wetherspoons at its best Staff make the pub Decorative and welcoming..wish I'd taken pics..all I can say is go there and soak up the brilliantly priced drinks in probably the cleanest and best decorated pub in Ipswich, no place better ..I think...now I'm thinking..yeah get there .. get tips Probably revs later lol

Felt like I was not wanted appeared only interested in the local clientele, went in to order drinks and food for 5 was ignored when next in line not once but twice first visit to Ipswich town centre and Wetherspoons and will be last would give 0 if I could.

Pretty typical Spoons. Another historic building rescued turned into the usual dark wood pattern carpet affair. You love or hate spoons. This is one of the better examples as it's big and airy and we've never had any trouble finding space. I would say the following about every whetherspoons pub I've been to... Very Cheap drinks. Cheap food (quality is average and a little hit and miss) but I refer you to the price. Excellent value unlimited self serve hot drinks. Tastes as good as anything you'll find from Costa or Starbucks but obviously much more limited menu. Great for a breakfast!! (If you can ignore the day drinkers!see first point)

Good food and beer very good prices as well. Still very nice. Still OK but my breakfast was a bit cold today.

Once you enter, you cannot leave for hours, and the prices are also affordable, I recommend it.

Didn't order food, so 1 star. Service must have been OK as I didn't hear any complaints by those I accompanied. Atmosphere was good as was with company but there was no music. So you have to make the atmosphere yourself. Also, I don't vape or smoke, but apparently you're not allowed to do this "outside" of the pub... When I mean outside, I mean out under the sky. Which was strange when I witnessed this. Everything else was fine and drinks are becoming a little cheaper as they're competing with The Mannings, currently.

Last time I visited, the ceiling began leaking water at around midnight from beneath the men's toilets. That kind of thing puts you off returning.

As our only Spoons in Ipswich I come here fairly often and the food is always good. Nice and cheap for the portions you get. Don’t expect fine dining as that’s not what spoons is about - but for a quick meal you can’t go wrong!

Service ok and atmosphere great. Ordered a steak, was shocking, cooked ok, but the quality of the meat was awful. Most of the steak was fat and gristle . Left most of the dish, was mentioned to staff member who cleaned table but no apology.

Food tasted amazing and the staff was quick with my order but the quantity of the food was terrible, I got 15 chips with my meal 🤣 don't get me wrong I don't always can't my chips but as soon as they gave me the plate I thought surely that's not it and had to count them cause there was hardly any on the plate as you can see in the photo but apart from that the burger was nice, chips could be a bit crisper and service was quick.

Not really changed in the last 30 years but does the job, decent food, great prices, especially the drinks. Wheelchair access and toilets. Choice of indoor or outdoor for food and drinks. Pay parking round the back. Decent atmosphere, staff seem friendly

Ordered steak as it was steak night. Honestly the worst I have ever experienced. Swerve it if I was you. Lost half of the steak due to gristle and fat. When we complained all we got in response was will bo****k the kitchen. Can't believe it doesn't get taken seriously. Toilets were disgusting. All. Of them filled with loo roll and wee on the floor. Don't believe they get checked properly come on spoons. Up your game.

Cheap and reliable. Table service has been fast when using the QR code/Website to order. Food is not going to win any awards, but it's pretty good, and at this price you can't really complain.

Would give it a 1* if I could considering I’m “intoxicated” while writing this, I’d been declined into the pub for that reason apparently, by a lady who since 10am had kept walking over to our table proceeding to give us odd looks. By then, we decided to go elsewhere due to this. 5 hours later decided to return back to the venue they refused entry. Even though I had asked for the reason why and did not give a valuable reason we decided to go elsewhere. Given I’m so “intoxicated” it is surprising I can write this review. Would avoid going here if you are visiting Ipswich or going for food which took 2 hours to arrive at the table with the waitress commenting “we didn’t recieve your order” after ordering, on the app.

Staff are lovely! But the clientele are usually the worst sorts of people and the company is owned by a money hungry evil man who cares more about making profit than the lives of his staff. The staff deserve a pay rise and they need a union.

Very dissatisfied been to many places to eat in my life and never seen somewhere slow and rude, staff are just playing on phones managers have no interest and when you order your food you wait ages receive it get told you need to order extra gravy which you do and then it still don’t arrive until 15 minutes later for the manager to say I can give you a takeaway box for it, bare in mind I’ve eaten my meal by then very very poor then you have to debate to get a refund awful service. Not too mention you have to clean your own table with baby wipes 🤮

Food was cheap and service was okay but some very noisy foul mouthed customers. They didn't get chucked out.

We had a traditional breakfast for 2 & it was stone cold. The bacon was black, overdone & the eggs were undercooked & snotty. One of the worst wetherspoons breakfast to date

Great value food and breakfast was decent for the money. Atmosphere a bit flat and took a while to get served but wasn't a bad experience all in all.

Spoons, without a doubt you will know your in spoons 😝. Classic spoons darkwood furniture. Thick colourful carpet. Toilets 🚻 upstairs. Disabled loos on ground floor.

What a shame they don't accept resident permit as a id . They didn't lt us in !

We visited the Cricketers twice on our short break in Ipswich the pub is very busy but you still get served very quickly I even ordered a pint on my phone and it arrived within 60 seconds Incredible service.On the Saturday night we also had food when we found a vacant table,we then soon ordered and food arrived within 15 minutes.This pub is very well run and will come back if in the area.

The food was good and hot not too long of a wait after ordering.

Food was warm steak was not good two much fat and grizzle was not good at all .definitely wouldn't come here again toilets not clean and toilets didn't flush

This is a well run bar with good staff. Prices are great food is good value and its a nice place to chill. I come here 3 times a week.

Old traditional pub bought by Wetherspoons. More upmarket than the standard venues.

Nice Spoons in an old building, fairly quiet when I visited on Easter Monday 2024 although this was in the morning and I left at 11.45am. Not the best range of ales but well kept.

Really poor hygiene. The staff barely wipes the table, even when they passing by and see how dirty they are, with drinks all over the tables and ashes from cigarettes. I had english breakfast once, and it was delivered cold, when I told them about it they took it back to the kitchen and brought it back cold again. The security is no different, very unprofessional behaviour and rude. There are some rumours that the security lady was giving oral love to one of the customers in the toilets.

I ordered the an American breakfast, the bacon was chewy and the fried egg yolk was boiled I was not happy.

Great range of seating available whether you are grabbing a quick bite to eat or catching up with friends or family. Food was delicious, arrived quickly, good portion sizes.

Decent food, fast service, good selection of beers , plenty of real ales with amazing prices. No wander the atmosphere is merry and is most of the times packed. Toilets are decent and adequate in size to ensure that even on busy evenings you're not going to queue.

Shocking food, definitely getting worse and no cheaper than normal pubs now!! Won't be eating that cheap rubbish food again!!

We were expecting to see the results of a refurbishment heralded in the local paper but couldn’t see anything different. Tidy enough to be fair. Spacious pub. Food and service were good, at great prices as always. Too cold to sit outside as we usually do. Toilets were disgusting and wouldn’t flush! Get a plumber in for goodness sake….

Place has gone down hill massively. Food was always OK, cheap, tasty and a decent portion. Last few times I've been, you'd think I'd ordered off the kids menu. Burger was dry and tiny, got about 5 chips. Food is always luke warm. The whole place could do with a deep clean, mainly the carpets and chairs.

Well first of all the stench most unpleasant Secondly I was rather disappointed with a subpar cheese board and red wine, it tasted rather bland and didn't compliment the cheese like it should. Only to make matters worse after what had already been a mediocre evening out, suddenly the place was over ran by a deluge of football huligans practically swimming in beer they were quick to make remarks about my wife and I such as "look at that signet ring can tell he's a tory" and "bet his names barthollomule" oh and how could I forget "posh tw@" it's such ashame I have always enjoyed my visits over the years but it seems in recent times it has become a haven for the dregs of society.
